Rate this book
In the heart of historic York, darkness lurks beneath the quaint streets and ancient buildings. When a string of grisly attacks target the city's homeless and helpless, the authorities turn a blind eye, leaving the vulnerable at the mercy of an unseen predator.

Enter Jed Sinclair, a solitary man haunted by his own demons and determined to uncover the truth. Ignored by the police, he delves into the shadows, where he discovers a terrifying vampires walk among us, preying on the unsuspecting with impunity.

Desperate to stop the bloodshed, Jed forms an unlikely alliance with Katya, a vampire whose own motives remain unclear. Together, they navigate the treacherous underworld of York, where alliances shift like shadows and danger lurks at every corner. As they close in on the killer, Jed and Katya uncover a web of deceit that stretches back centuries, revealing dark secrets that threaten to tear the city apart.
But time is running out, and with each passing night, the body count rises. Can Jed and Katya stop the killer before another life is lost?

An enjoyable read!

A murder mystery story, complete with vampires and a touch of humour. What more could a reader want? This story was set in the medieval city of York, where vampires and humans had co-existed for centuries. However, the general population of York was completely ignorant of this fact. The vampires influenced and controlled the City's establishment, be it political, Church or police. Vampire society was also both hierarchical and extremely bureaucratic. They no longer hunted and killed humans anymore, at least not without the express permission of a senior vampire. Their blood supply came from willing participants, drug addicts and other members of the City's underclass. Unfortunately, this uneasy status quo had been thrown into turmoil, when an unknown vampire had gone rogue and begun to kill humans across the City. A former (human) policeman and a disgraced member of the vampire elite find themselves thrown together as the frantic hunt for the killer gains momentum. This was a really good and enjoyable read.

Good story, fun and unique. I loved the setting as I love York and the main characters are likeable which is great, but it really needs a proof read as there are a tonne of errors that are a bit jarring to get through.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. A good story of contemporary vampires in York trying to solve murders committed outside of the pact they have to live with humans. Fast moving and engaging. I loved the awkward relationship built up between Katya and Jed and hope it endures into future novels.

Great book!

An excellent, compelling story with an engaging cast of real feeling, flawed characters.
I'll definitely be keeping a look out for a follow-up!

An good story and enjoyed this- but spoilt by the bad spelling and grammar - ever heard of apostrophes? Very off-putting!
