Synopsis: Parkour is a small book that defines and explains a movement that began in France in the 1980s. Essentially, Parkour or "free-running" is the practice of moving through a defined area in an active way utilizing only your body and the obstacles that are in that defined area. By obstacles I mean the trees, buildings, stairwells, etc. that are in the space. The book has large text and is written for elementary age students or reluctant readers in middle or high school.
Themes/Curriculum Connections: Physical fitness, natural world
Age/Grade recommendation: elementary

I decided to read this book because I am interested in parkour and wanted to learn more a bout it. It is a non-fiction book that is about some of the basics of parkour and it has illustrations. Everyting about this book fascinated me with all of the different moves, how parkour is growing with people using parkour to advertise their brand of clothing. This book is written for an audience for those who are passionate about parkour and those who wish to learn more about the art of parkour. But for those who truely wish to learn about parkour this book only has short summaries of moves and history.

If you are looking for a parkour book that shows you how to do the moves - this is not the one you want to read. If you are looking for a parkour book that gives you the information as to what parkour is, how to get started, where it was founded, etc. - THIS is the book you want to read. Enjoyed it a lot.

I think the book is cool and inspiring and lots of weird words. I liked how they jumped over walls and how you can jump 5 meters up a wall. wow that is cool.
