What would you do if you got an anonymous letter asking you to meet at an abandoned asylum? You learn you are not the only one who got the invitation. You find that there are six other men sitting in the room. There is something or someone behind this mysterious meeting. Now they are locked in the asylum. They need to solve puzzles in order to get out alive.
There is something not quite right about this abandoned asylum. Learning that the asylum was home to thousands of deranged patients. Horrible experiments and hundreds of unexplained deaths. Not only do they have to solve puzzles to escape the rooms. They also have to figure out who or what is terrorizing them. Is it the patients that have been long dead or is it something else entirely.
Who said love wasn’t deadly…
It is the same great story just updated with a brand-new cover, and some minor corrections. Please mind the triggers and happy reading.
I teetered between 3-4 stars for this rating. I like leaving honest reviews and I also like supporting other indie authors, so that being said: There were some typos, however, the author was really great, allowing me to alert her to the main ones I found and correcting them. (Something other ppl can do instead of leaving poor ratings because they found typos… bring it up to the author so they can fix it!) As for the story itself, it is extremely fast paced with many characters, so I did find the beginning of it a bit difficult to follow/confusing. However, once we reached the part where everyone was in the asylum… it got pretty interesting! I don’t want to spoil it for others, but suffice to say, this novella includes paranormal activity, a spooky asylum, blood, creepiness and a vengeful female!
Six are invited. How many will leave? The intrigue of the abandoned asylum invitations sent to Sean, Elijah, Jeremy, Scott, Adam, and Trevor, kept me reading (and I loved the sketched characters at the end!) What was going on and why were they summoned? All had done something wrong. The men were strangers to each other, but they had one vengeful person in common. But who, and what did they do to her? Brandie has it all planned out, or does she? Now they must pay. When the lights go out, the past comes out to play. They must solve clues to get out. Even before one of the guys says it, I already thought, " this is an escape room of horrors." But what would happen next? I was eager to find out. But alas, where are the clues? I was disappointed because having them solve riddles along the way would be fun and let us know their heinous crimes, but then the paranormal horror takes over! But it is, after all, a scary story! The invited guests were jerks to the third power, and Jeremy to the tenth-- he was by far the worst, haha, and irritated me to no end with his constant eyes rolling and snide, foul remarks. Elijah seemed the most decent of the bunch, but who knows? This is book one, so I look forward to the rest of the Haunted saga and hope back stories and flashbacks are included about Brandie and the guys, and her looney family who own the cuckoo nest. This is a good quick read for Halloween or whenever you crave a scary story.

A House on Haunted Hill feel with a twist.
Love Made Me Do It has good bones. It is twisty, mysterious, and has that classic horror aspect. There are betrayals, secrets, and deaths. I went with four stars instead of five because the book would benefit from more editing and proofreading. The choice to go with a third person present tense didn't seem to work with this story. The tense jumps from present to past and back again. There are also quite a bit of spelling errors including inconsistencies with character names. I would have left out Brandie's dad and his wife as it did nothing but distract from the main story. To me, the author's choice to jump back to outside characters took away from the intensity that was created in the asylum. Overall, it is a good medium paced thriller. I did enjoy reading it.
2/2.5 ⭐️ this story i think was an attempt at thriller/horror. Quick read. Typos throughout book.
Felt like the story line was missing… Brandie got clearly screwed/rapped/cheated on or something bad by men she lured into an asylum her family owned to do bad things to them. Escape room meets wanna be saw? But she was rich and her dad wanted her money… lots of unnecessary information used for the story line that wasnt even useful…
Fascinating! This short story kept me intrigued until the end. It reiterates the notion that everyone ultimately faces the consequences of their actions. Brandi's revenge served as a reminder of the power of karma.
The storyline was okay but definitely lacked major detail. There were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors that were annoying. This was a short quick read that was entertaining for the most part.
I have mixed feelings on this read. I love the plot and where the story line is headed. But it just needs a bit more. There are several grammar issues by those happen to the best of us. The part I struggled with was the ending. It wrapped too soon (IMO) it just needs a few more creepy details stretched out over the last 2 chapters. Very much has potential to be 5 stars with just a couple tweeks. I am interested in reading book 2! I feel like and am hoping some more background into the asylum and the Lancaster family will emerge.
This twisted little story pulled me in immediately! I read in one sitting. The way the asylum played with each character was so enjoyable. I really hope this becomes a series.
Great revenge story. I did not think this would be where this story would be going when I started it. This asylum is full of twists and turns. The story brought to mind shows like Supernatural, and Grimm. Michele builds a great image for the reader, setting up the creepy scenes with precision to make you feel like you're right there beside the characters. I loved it and look forward to reading more from Michele in the future.
