Being A Good Person Is Not Easy

Rate this book
Sunset, kitchen smoke and afternoon dew mixed together, Americo Ebert returned from hunting and began preparing dinner.

Americo Ebert is a prominent man in Thieu Ha village. His father was originally a doctor from a rich family in the town, then his family's fortunes declined and he moved to Thieu Ha village. Villagers with headaches and colds all went to old man Tieu to get medicine. The kind-hearted old man wouldn't take a penny. On holidays and New Year's, the villagers would bring meat as filial piety to the old man.

Old man Tieu suddenly passed away at midnight ten years ago, and Americo Ebert buried his father on the mountain. At a time of hardship with no way out, it happened that the army was recruiting soldiers. He packed his bags and went to join the army. He had just returned from the winter solstice of last year.

The people of Thieu Ha village all remember Americo Ebert clearly. Since childhood, he was quiet and rarely spoke. After returning from another place, he disliked talking even more.

His skin is firm, his head is much taller than the group of men in the village, and he is majestic and powerful. The relatives were all curious about how he had been outside these past few years, and were also curious about whether he was getting married or not. Young men from Thieu Ha village must get married after the age of thirteen. When Americo Ebert was ten years old, Mr. Tieu decided to become a little brother for him in the Diep family.
