4 1/2 stars. I'm not familiar with the author. This is my first time reading something from Jamilah. At first I felt that I was reading a letter or a diary. It just was very easy to read. I actually did enjoy the book. I completely thought it was going to be something different. It's a story about family and difficulties. I recommend you giving it a shot.
