If you love small towns, endearing relationships, animals, and a touch of murder, you will love this mystery series set in the small town of White Eagle Montana.
In book 17 of the series, Tess and Tony are asked to chair the annual Halloween event, which once again, will feature a televised therapy session conducted by paranormal psychologists Tim Rivers and Tom Masters. While participating in a ghost therapy session is always a hoot, Tess is feeling overwhelmed and distracted this year with all the changes in her life and she wonders if she'll be able to handle everything that is coming down the pike as efficiently as she hoped she would.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

I enjoyed this book although having the characters move on with their families kind of takes away from the original sleuthing story. I think there ought to be a stopping point if the main character isn't going to be able to do the actual sleuthing. They just become an observer.
It's a sad day... the last in the Tess and Tilly series. This was the first series by Kathi Daley, which I started to read, and the one that got me hooked on her writing by the end of the first chapter.
As it's the last book, loose endings are tied up and whilst it's possible to revisit the small town of White Eagle and see these beloved characters again, I doubt it , but maybe they'll crop up in other books from time to time (I hope).
I have truly loved all the books in this series, from Tess and Tilly's mail route which started off her obsession with solving murders in her small town (often after she had found the victim); there followed her building a relationship with Tony, and of course the mystery surrounding her father, who she believed died when she was young. Tilly is the most wonderful dog and by Tess's side all of the time; and then the family expands with Tess's brother Michael and sister in law Bree, bringing baby Ella into the world, both Tess and Bree are expecting babies in this book.
All the books in this series are standalone stories, but they are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
If you liked this series, try any one of the others written by Kathi Daley, they are all good, there are 17 to choose from!. I especially like Inn at Holiday Bay; Bookstore at Holiday Bay; Resort at Castaway Bay; Rescue Alaska; and Cottage on Gooseberry Bay. The Zoe Donovan Mystery and Cat in the Attic series are really good, too, and both are complete.
Dragged out so long that I lost interest. Half the book seemed to be about trying to find a name for their kid. Not amusing but became annoying. The rest of the story skipped around so much and was hard to follow. Seemed like excessive detail just to make the story longer. Really poor writing.
The Ghost Therapist is the eighteenth and final book in Kathi Daley’s Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series. I love the delightful characters and the charming setting. Once again, Ms. Daley has provided readers with a clean, fun read. The characters are three-dimensional and affable, and the storyline is well-plotted and intriguing. There is no shortage of twists, turns, and red herrings in this complex murder mystery. I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy well-crafted, cozy mysteries.
Even though Tess Marconi retired from her job delivering mail in the White Eagle, Montana, community, she and her dog, Tilly, filled in whenever there was a staffing issue until recently. Tess previously scaled back her involvement working with Brady Baker, the local veterinarian and shelter owner, at the animal shelter and training search and rescue dogs to facilitate traveling with her husband and one of her best friends, Tony Marconi, and now she is expecting her first child, a daughter. Tony is a computer genius who has partnered with his friend, Shaggy, to develop video games. Her mother co-owns Sisters’ Diner with her aunt. Tess has one brother, Mike, who is a member of the White Eagle Police Department and married to her other best friend and bookstore owner, Bree. Mike and Bree are the proud parents of a young daughter, Ella, and are expecting their second child, a son.
Tess and Tony are chairing the annual Halloween Festival that, once again, will feature a televised therapy session conducted by a ghost therapist team of Tim Rivers and Tom Masters. Concerned about Tess and Tony’s stress level, Hap Hollister’s wife, Hattie, has offered to be in charge of the chili cookoff and to round up volunteers to oversee the kiddie carnival, craft fair, and Halloween parade. One of the sites being filmed for Ghost Therapy is the old, abandoned movie theater, where Tim and Tom hope to counsel the ghost of Gavigan O’Leary, who suffered a gruesome death in nineteen ninety-five and who they believe is haunting the structure. While conducting a walkthrough in advance of Tim and Tom’s arrival, Tilly happens upon the body of another murder victim.
Tess and Tony have once again been asked to chair the annual Halloween event. The event will feature Tim Rivers and Tom Masters as the Ghost Therapists, paranormal psychologists, who'll be visiting some haunted properties. But Tess is feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the changes in her life up to now and the changes still to come.
I've really enjoyed this series and this book is a prime example of why. The book was well-written with wonderful characters and a fast-paced plot. There are a couple of mysteries to solve which are fun and intriguing. Kathi Daley is a tremendous storyteller and one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. I really loved this book and hope there's more to come. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order although each book does have its own self-contained mystery.
This book (and series) was written about Tess and Tilly, in the series beginning was a mail-person and her dog. This book actually solved several mysteries from the past. The whole story with the “Ghost Therapists” contributing to solving crimes that included physical evidence. It also included Tess and Tony expecting a baby while working with the Halloween festival and dealing with changes in Tess’s life. It ends with crimes solved and Tess and Tony having a baby, another person for Tilly (dog) to love.
This mystery seemed more cozy than some of the previous books. Maybe it is just me and the mood I was in, but I don't think so. There is a sense of contentment and protection throughout the story due, I believe, to Tess being pregnant. There is plenty of mystery and suspence, and the tension of the story keeps you engaged all the way to the end. I really loved the ending.
Tess and Tony sae shoulder deep in preparation for the Halloween gathering for the town until Hap and his wife take on the majority of the events and ask for volunteers. The Ghosthunters were able to speak to a ghost and give her the opportunity to pass into the other realm which made for 3 solved murders. Please tell me this is not the end of Tess and Tilly.
Kathi Daley returns to White Eagle, Montana for the last time as Tony and Tess are in charge of the Halloween Festival which includes a visit From Tom & Tim of the Ghost Therapists television show. There is two murder mysteries to solve in this one, a cold case murder from over 25 years ago and then another body shows up in the same location. An enjoyable story that wraps up the series.
This is the perfect Halloween mystery complete with all of the characters of this series. Tess crew work to help bring Ghost Therapists to town for a television show. There are several locations for the show. Each location is visited along with solving a long ago murder complete with a second murder in a movie theater. This has a great ending.
Kathi does it again. I love this series so much, yet another "friend" to catch up with. This time Tess and Tony helped in a way to solve more than one murder. In addition, the family welcomed 2 new family members and they are adjusting to the new relationship with Tess' dad. Can't wait for what comes next.
I liked this series much better when the focus was on dogs and a mystery. Now, it is all about babies, including long discussions about names. This one did seem to have a finality to it, so maybe it is the end of the series.
This was the perfect cozy ending to one of my favorite series and it is a great read for Halloween. Though it works as a standalone, I love the characters and being included in their lives from book one.
I found this, the last book in the series, boring, disconnected, and a struggle to finish. It jumped around, speculation abounding, baby names discussed to nauseating effect, and a rush to the finish feeling.
Tess and Tony make sure the locations for the Ghost Therapists crew are in order and ready to go when they arrive. Upon searching the theater, Tilly found a body. With the help of Tony and Shaggy, Mike and the cops are closing on on the murderer.
Great story and a good way to end the series. The ghost stories were well written and even if you don't believe in ghosts they were still good additions to the story lines.
I enjoyed reading this book and the mystery in the pages! Love for family and the live for new family and the love show for fur babies!! Looking forward to next book!
In either case, valuable info was exchanged and the case solved. Tess settles into motherhood and Tilly adapts to another one to love and protect. Great read.
Really enjoyed the book, I'm wondering if this is the end of this series. It seemed like everything was being tied up at the end...in any case I've really enjoyed the series.
I was hoping this wasn't the final installment of the Tess and Tilly adventure but it definitely reads that way and I am okay with how Kathi has tied it up.
