Everyone has a story to tell. Mine is still being written.
Admittedly, the first few chapters have been rough, but moving to Heartport for my first year of teaching is a fresh start. I believe in being open to new things, even if that new thing is watching my brother perform with his band on a hot, mid-August night. He seems nervous about me meeting his friends. But they're just a group of teachers. How surprising can they be? Nothing extraordinary about that.
Everyone has a song to sing. Mine is in its second verse.
I'm still looking for a hook, but the melody is well defined. I have my job as a high school teacher, my group of friends, and my band. Life is going fine. I'm not looking for a change. Another gig just before the new school year is nothing life-altering, so I don't get why our bass player is insisting on introducing us to his little sister. Tonight is just another routine night... right?
Life in a small, southern town is anything but predictable. The past reemerges. Best laid plans get turned on their head. Stories reach their climax, and music swells to a crescendo.
