Sparks fly between the handsome descendant of a snow spirit and the oblivious coworker he has a crush on! A romantic comedy in an office setting that takes coworkers to lovers to new heights within a winter wonderland of emotions!
As winter melts into the warmth of spring, so too does the heart... Himuro, the descendant of a snow spirit, has learned that his cool yet warmhearted colleague, Fuyutsuki, is going to be moving abroad to work at one of their company’s branch offices. Suddenly, they’re going to be a whole ocean apart! While the separation will only be temporary, Himuro decides that he’s finally going to tell Fuyutsuki how he really feels about her before it’s too late. How will Fuyutsuki respond to his blunt, awkward confession of love?
Ehehehehe relationship development!! Finally!! They’re dating!!! There’s a time skip but a good one.
Recap: confession, acceptance, dating, she leaves and is back from work, they’re a little awkward but some friendly meddling gets them back on track, festival with friends, aquarium, and sibling outings. Ends with boys fishing and ramen.
I really appreciate how the author always manages to keep the story from unnecessary drama or miscommunications!! This volume is one of my favorites so far and everyone’s relationships are just so cute and blossoming so well!! I can’t wait for the next one!
This volume more than made up for that crazy cliffhanger in the previous volume!! I still don't know how it could end where it did, but thankfully this volume kicked off right where things left off and our leads had the conversation I have been waiting for!! EEEEEPPPP!! It was perfect and so cute and gave me butterflies!!!
I would also go to say that the entire volume was just as wonderful as the previous volumes, but I think it was a little sweeter given all the fun things that take place in this one specifically! It really felt like being patient can pay off as it for sure did here!! Squeals!!!
If you've been on the fence about coming back to this series due to feeling the romance is "too slow," this volume might just have what you've been looking for! Definitely one of my favorites and can't wait to see what happens next!!
This one was hard for me. I really enjoy this series and the slow burn romance, but I am not sure why this volume just didn't pay off for me. They are finally dating, but then boom, time skip 6 months, and they are awkward. I did think it was cute when they went on their date, but the first half of the volume really kind of pulled the excitement I had built up.
Ils me manquent.
Himuro finally confessed his love to Fuyutsuki—right as she’s about to move across the world. As it turns out, the move was temporary and only for one year. Now here’s the kicker: that ENTIRE year just happens offscreen. We don’t get to see any of it at all! The next chapter starts with their reunion, but I want to know about that missing year! Argh!
The rest of the volume is rather subpar. They actually become more awkward around each other and it almost feels like Fuyutsuki’s personality is changing?!? I don’t know. It was okay, but just kind of forgettable.
The bonus story at the end about Phoenix-guy wanting to make homemade ramen for Otonashi was my favorite, but even that story annoyed me by suggesting that it would somehow be okay to catch and keep a little shark as a pet.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the author may have lost some steam. Meh.

Yeah, it's mostly a rave. And it's all over the place so... buckle up, buttercup 😜
Love that we pick up right where 8 left off (Himuro confesses his love for Fuyutsuki and she gladly accepts). Love and hate the "it's only 6 months" fake out, though. Also, not the building behind them saying reading Melt as Himuro's freeze over thaws ❄️❄️🥰. When she returns, I did like that they have to realize there's now two sides to tend to: co-workers vs. lovers. And that starts by keeping their request to call each other by their first names.
Side note, Himuro befriending LaLa the walrus at the aquarium to the point of buying a stuffy walrus🥹. My top five animals, easy: walrus, owl, beardie, otter. One does take top spot. Can't be helped. Personal bias 🤷♀️.
My one qualm: are setting up a fake love triangle. If so I WILL throw hands... angrily 😤🤬🤬👿!!!!

Unfortunately, this is where this series loses me.
With my perceived issues with this series that I pointed out in my review of my last volume, my opinion of this volume gets even lower. Now that the main "conflict" has resolved, I feel like the structure of this series has pretty much collapsed. I dont find the new aspects of Himuro or Fuyutsuki's relationship invigorating or interesting at all -- in fact, it's kinda starting to become clear to me that the characters in this don't really have many interesting aspects to them at all. It bums me out because I really do love the art style of this series quite a lot, but I just don't think the mangaka has an interesting or unique story to tell here. We're just kind of walking over extremely well-tread ground with characters who can't really stand up that well on their own.
I picked this up to continue the series. “The Ice Guy and the Cool Girl, Vol. 9” continues to follow Himuro and his colleague, Fuyutsuki. In this volume the pair are finally dating. I really love how sweet and wholesome this series is. Himuro and Fuyutsuki are such a lovely match for one another and they are just so precious together. I also really appreciate that the author does not allow them to follow into any cliche tropes; they just get to be their sweet, awkward selves. I will definitely be continuing in this series.
Finally! After 9 volumes, the Fuyutsuki and Himuro are together. I was cheering them on as the story went on and on.
The art of the manga is so beautifully done! I’m looking forward to the next volume. I’m can’t wait for the artist to create more volumes with the characters. I love seeing the side romances such as Otonashi and Katori (the descendent of the Phoenix) I want a separate story with them! :)
We finally get some important development on the relationship between the two main characters, and overall, it's a cute, enjoyable volume. But I think the lack of any ongoing plot outside the glacially-paced romance, along with the rather surface-level exploration of the different character relationships, has kind of cooled my interest in this series. It's nice and all, but there's not a lot you can get out of it.
This volume is the volume I like the most. Finally, I like the development of the relationship between Himuro and Fuyutsuki who can call each other by their first names. The picture of the two of them in this volume is really beautiful. I also like how they both treat Yukimi. And it seems like the role of animals from seals to sharks plays a big role in people's relationships.
They did it! They finally admitted their feelings! 🥰Fuyutsuki and Himuro are now together! The volume then continues with cute dates and getting comfortable with each other like a normal couple. That’s about it. 😅 preview for next volume shows what might be some drama but most likely a misunderstanding. 😂

The bait and switch of how long Fuyutsuki would be gone was great and all but that confession of love was just so beautiful. Even the awkwardness between the two when they are back together was realistic for the couple. Having friends like the ones they have that made them talk to each other was invaluable.

the most romantic volume - I can't believe they're finally officially together!!! the confession scene was adorable, with a gorgeous full page spread (constantly swooning over this art)....then we got both a festival (+yukata) AND an aquarium date. 10/10!!!!!
