Being the maintenance man at the college I’d graduated from wasn’t the most glamorous life, but it paid the bills.
Today was supposed to be an average day of work followed by a night camping in the woods. But my whole world got turned upside down when the entire building was suddenly transported to some crazy fantasy land, with me and five beautiful college coeds still inside.
Now they’re all looking at me to keep us alive in this insane and dangerous new world filled with creatures beyond my wildest imagination.
Didn’t care for it. If your into castaway harem maybe it’s good. But if you think using a kimber bolt action rather than your pistol in close quarters fighting is dumb. Prolly not the book for you. Didn’t read the sex crap. But it’s there. Might even be well written. Idk the author mentions John wick. Maybe they can research the training methods that went into the movie and do better in the next books.. not a bad premise but the ac repair was just to much. I’m a lil surprised no one was stuck in a dryer or sink in this book.
This book is a mashup of the author's "Without Law" series and any of their isekai series. And it is so cheesy I had to bail on it.
The MC is a college graduate who stays on to be a maintenance repair guy at some tiny women's college in Indiana. Over a break, he and 5 women are the only one's in a particular dorm building. Out of nowhere, some earthquake like activity causes the entire dorm room to shift to some other dimension/world that is nothing like Earth. Not a blade of grass or concrete around the building goes with it, but the guy's truck that is about 50+ feet away from the building, that contains his camping supplies AND GUNS, happens to go with the building. That's just too farcical for my ability to stomach.
I really wish this book farm would put more effort into their generic efforts.
A group of college kids that don't go home for the holidays find themselves thrown through a dimensional rift. The rift takes the school dorms building and a pickup truck to a place thats similar to our medieval times where swords and magic prevail. Issac and 5 girls make the dorm their castle to protect themselves from the insane wild beasts in the place called 'The Wastes' which nothing lives. Their castle suddenly appeared in this desolate place, but the local kingdoms worry that this sudden evil place has created something to worry about. "We found a dragon!" is what Issac and Nora tell the other girls when they return from a search of the local area....
Fun read with some naughtiness thrown in, but not to much.
And definitely one intriguing and interesting new book and start of a new series.
Magically transported and dumped in a foreign world by unknown magic, faced with a barren wasteland, foreign kingdoms, some friendly and others not as much... Surviving in a fantasy world where Magic exists will be quite the adventure.
And as you dive deeper into the book and more things come to light, you'll find it hard to stop.
Five female students an one formal student are wisked into a magical world .
Isaac a janitor at a coed University along with 5 female students during spring break experience a shift in abnormal events as they are sucked into a void vortex as they are hurled threw space into a dimensional world with medieval an magic . Now they must learn how to survive in a hostile world . recommend reading excellent book .
A great start too a new seriee, while Im still in the process of reading Without Law, Im sure this will be something Ill enjoy, I do like the dyamic of the entire dorm being transported.
if possible, Id like to see an interior map of the building itself.
Looks like another Eric Vall winner. A small group of college and college age individuals are the main characters in volume 1. The storyline takes them to a medieval setting that includes magic, hostile kingdoms and monsters (spoiler: not all unicorns are cute and friendly). The author is a great storyteller and this looks to be the start of one of his best series.
Pretty good start. I'm intrigued. Hopefully, this series will focus more on adventure and less on the harem elements, but that remains to be seen. Honestly, since it's Eric Vall, probably not, but I liked several of his past series, so it's probably fine.
This is a great start to.a new series. I really like how the MC and his girls start from a place of ignorance about their world and slowly gain knowledge. I also like that the MC is not overpowered from the start, he has to be crafty and careful when facing risks. I can't wait to read more.
When the apparent main male.character did.not.jump.forward to.cjeck.outside the building that obviously had been.......earthquake d to.another world or.planet and the rest of the I dividuals in the building.are women and the male.MC had to.even think about it I stopped.reading at th a point because he showed exactly negative was a little.chicken repair person
The book starts out so much differently than I thought. I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for that Mr Vall. So fat the series starts a bit slow, with the most action happening towards the end of this one. But I appreciate all the additional background. Will make things move along easier later. Looking forward to the rest of the books now.
Eric vall is an amazing author his books are usually fun and light hearted a great read. This book really isn't a win at all its boring, the characters do nothing the whole time and really nothing happens, this whole book could have been a single chapter in a much better book and it wouldn't have been a waste
For a new series starter, I really think this was very well done. I can see this story being as awesome as Metal Mage, Summoner, or Dragon Emperor. Can't wait for next one.
This was a fantastic romp in parallel fairyland, the stakes for our intrepid cast of survivors are high and it makes for a thrilling read! I eagerly await the next one!
Great book for being the first in a series.????? Present day meets science fiction with the dormitories movement to another dimension. Story line is one that holds your attention. We need more of these. So, just keep them coming.
Very interesting new series. I like the dragon and medieval approach without being a time travel fantasy. The author is growing in his writing and tells a great story with very realistic characters.
I was looking for something to pass the time while I was waiting for the next book in one of the series I'm reading to get published, but I think that I found my next new series instead. This was an excellent story, and I anxiously await the next installment.
I know to take these books with a grain of salt, but I couldn't even make it past the first dozen pages. Half of it was extremely misogynistic, and just demeaning language. Shameful.
The book stated out interesting and not a b ad story. And of course, the writer only wrote one book, so I guess it wasn't reviewed much, but I'm looking forward to more of the storyline to continue.
This first installment of a new series is very good. The author has laid out a brilliant narrative. The characters come alive on the page, as do the battle scenes. Can't wait for the next book.
I always like Eric Vall books! Well written, with interesting plots, good characters and lots of spice and action. This book includes some magic but it so far is just a teaser of future events. Can't wait for the next books!
The characters are well developed and not as predictable as you might think. I was impressed with the plot and am looking forward to the next installment.
This book was so much fun I did not want it to end. YOU HEAR ME VALL I WANT MORE GODAMNIT!! Seriously buy this book it’s awesome and well worth the price to buy and then some!!
Interesting spin on transported to another world. It would appear that respecting living things will pay dividends in this world. I can’t wait for there to be a killer rabbit defense corps of doom and cuddles.
I know we don't usually expect much from this genre, but I at least expect for the setup to make sense. The author shoehorns in the MC and the setting without thinking much about the logic of it. Very minor spoilers below:
-The MC graduates, but claims to not take a job on the coast because of cost. Has the author ever had a job offer from a corp? Whatever they are paying is better than maintenance work at the college, especially if they are recruiting nationally! -The MC is supposedly going hunting after work. In Indiana. In March. With 4 guns and 2 bows. The only hunting season at that time of year is Coyote, and you don't use a .308 on Coyotes. The author has obviously never bought ammunition either, as a box of .308 ammo is expensive. Is it bow season, or gun season? Why is he bringing both? Is he just trying to get arrested by the local game warden? -The dorm seems to be transferred relatively intact, and the author describes the sorry state of the ground around the dorm, then later mentions that the septic leach fields were transported also. So just the underground piping, but not the surface? That makes no sense. -The claim is that the dorm has recently been outfitted with solar panels to provide electricity for the dorm, which the author states has 400 capacity and apparently old window units in each room. I don't know what fantasy solar panels the college is using, but there is no way the roof can generate that much capacity. And lets not even talk about how the wavelengths are different in their new locale. Any solar renovation is going to start by replacing AC units with super high efficiency units and not have indiviual window units. -The dorm shows up in a horrible place but within sight of a civilization, yet the officials who come to investigate don't ask for the MC to come back with them for questioning, and the MC doesn't use the opportunity to escape the hellscape and return with them? None of the others ever say something like "why don't we go with the friendly guys instead of staying here and roughing it around all the monsters and poisonous plants"
These are just some of the plot issues that kept throwing me out of immersion.
Good enough story. The only issue is that it's one of those authors who spends a ridiculous amount of time on mundane descriptions to pad the word count.
There is very little actual story but it's interesting so far.
