A Curse of Gods & Vampires: A Dark Divinity Novel

Rate this book
“My mother’s frantic sobs echoed in my ears, the terror on my father’s face remained in my mind. Would I rather perish than accept this curse? A sentencing to misery, cast over my parents, my brothers and sisters…

Immortality has a price - but we would live .”

The truth of the vampire curse and how it began has been buried by time, lies, and a God who, above all else, craves power and blood; perhaps even more so than his own afflicted descendants.

Centuries before Celessa Umbraeon emerged into The Living Realm, the vampires who have shaped her fate lived as mere mortals in the untamed lands of Teskaria. The Spectrals, blessed children of The Goddess of the Stars, are cursed by Chaos and wreaking havoc in the kingdoms… and they have doomed the Lukard family to follow in their footsteps. Amidst the warring between Gods and their spawn, there is something even more dangerous lurking behind the veil of discord. A mysterious, shrouded force is festering in the gloom of turmoil… and Aklys Lukard has found himself in the middle of it all.

To bear vampirism is a significant burden, but to harbor the weight of his family’s fate, the future of the realm, and the secrets of lovers and enemies alike are challenges of unfathomable proportions.

What path can Aklys choose when the light is stolen from within him and he is fated to walk in darkness? Embrace the shadow of malice, or chase after vanished stars?

The curse of vampires may be terrible enough to bring about the end of the world as it is known… but the curse of Gods is only just beginning to unleash its wrath.

For rifts birth great consequences.

Just when I was ready for the next book in the DDS, Jordyn throws a curveball and delivers an exciting prequel! This was the missing puzzle piece I wasn’t aware I needed. Going back to the beginning and answering the question of how it all began, how certain relationships used to be and how they came to be later. And in typical Jordyn fassion, she had me crying, smiling and saying WTF?! You have done it again, Jordyn!!

She has done it again! As if the world in the DDS didn't enrapture you enough, go back to the beginning of the vampire curse that Aklys was bestowed with. Follow along in his story and how the present story of Celessa and her trials come to be. It'll have you on the edge of your seat, crying and heartbreak, and everything in between! A true masterpiece!!

I’ve read Jordyn’s other two books and this prequel is the perfect piece to tie everything from the first two books together. This book could be read either first or third in the serious without spoiling anything from the other two. I thoroughly enjoyed that this book primarily followed our favorite vampire’s point of view in order to give further insight into his past and his character development. Jordyn’s writing is beautifully descriptive, and she has a talent for world-building, character development, vivid imagery, and *steamy* moments. If you enjoy fantasy and want to explore a new author, Jordyn’s Dark Divinity Series is a must-read. While simultaneously reading this book and the first book in the ACOTAR series, while throughly enjoying both authors’ stories and writing style, I found Jordyn’s to be more dynamic and produce more imagery for me. This indie author deserves to go big!!

Amazing writing and storytelling, as always! I admire the authors consistency with all the books in this series thus far, the visuals you get while reading quite literally take you into another realm. I'm never let down with her work and this installment is no exception! I appreciate the POV chapters and getting to see other character's perspective. This story is heartbreaking, gut wrenching and keeps you on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. With twists and turns that you don't see coming! If you are in the mood to scream and cry simultaneously, definitely don't sleep on this series! 10/10 recommend!

AMAZING!! This is a must read, not just this book, but the whole series. Vivid, brilliant, exciting, on the edge writing. Immersive details make you feel like you're in the story. Will walk you through every feeling possible. You will get angry, sad, happy. Laughing or crying you must have more. The tie in? Couldn't have done any better. Absolute perfection!
