I approached this book with genuine curiosity about how science plays a role in dating advice and to discover insights that resonate with my own experiences. Giovanni clearly demonstrates his intellectual chops by referencing Harvard and a stint at Google—even if it remains unconfirmed whether he actually studied at Harvard or held an "impressive" role at Google. At first glance, he comes off as the typical high-achiever (+ stereotypical nerd with no social skills) who has dedicated considerable thought to the world of dating. Even if some of his ideas feel a bit “synthetic” (he admits to be a synthetic), it’s refreshing that he isn’t afraid to acknowledge that.
In my view, about 80% of the content delivers practical, common-sense advice, while 10% seems less compelling or even a bit off the mark. The remaining 10%, however, offers some genuinely thought-provoking perspectives that I found valuable. On balance, I’d rate the book a solid 3 out of 5. I was particularly impressed by the quality of writing in the early chapters, which gave me hope about its potential to genuinely help people on their self-improvement journeys.
It’s interesting timing for me as I’m currently exploring a period of abstinence. Regardless, I sincerely wish everyone who reads this or engages in the discussion to continue growing and thriving in their personal journeys.
This is from a “natural’s” POV. I’d say this book is useful outside of dating. Be your authentic self but now how to sell that authentic self in the best possible way. :)
