She’s engaged to a man with a promising future. But even as she makes plans to say “I do,” another man is hoping that she won’t….
It wasn't easy for Lacy Jordan to watch her best friends get paired off one by one, while she was still single and toiling away at a low-paying job. Maybe that's how she ended up engaged to her mother's chiropractor—a man who looks good on paper, but whose stiff manner and controlling ways leave Lacy cold.
When steamy-hot glass artist Daniel Reed rescues Lacy from a dicey situation, she finds herself feeling things for him that she's never felt for another man. But Daniel's reluctance to accept her love—and everything that comes with it—means he's the one who needs an adjustment, before both of their hearts are shattered.
I write funny, sexy contemporary romances full of friendship and family. My books are set in Cambria, a small town on Central California’s rugged, breathtaking coastline. Although I admit this is the first book in the Main Street Merchant Series I've read, I really enjoyed it. Seed's characters are both complex and endearing. In this book the protagonist Lacey Jordan's mom is trying to play matchmaker for her daughter and hook her up with the town chiropractor. But she's not interested in him. The one she's attracted to is the Glass Artist of the town, hence the title Fire and Glass. A romance heats up and sparks between them. Check this out for a good read. Now I need to go back and read the rest of the books in this series.
Sweet (but not as in no sex, but as in ...heck, I’ll detail it below), and, dare I say it, adorable characters that are well-written, and very human. Light reading, only took me a couple of hours to get through, and now I want to read the rest of this series, and other interlocking series involving the rancher (there’s an excerpt from one of those books at the back of this one).
The only thing I didn’t like was how the FMC’s mother never really apologized to Lacy for her behavior. It was implied, I guess, but, it’s a small plot-thread hanging. And the hero had to show her *spreadsheets* of his income! Who makes their daughters boyfriend do that? (Okay, he did it voluntarily, but still).
Fire and Glass: Main Street Merchants Book 4 is by Linda Seed. This series is about four young women who are best friends and who work or own a business on Main Street. They will drop everything for each other if needed. Three of the four are in serious relationships: Kate is living with Jackson; Gen and Ryan are married; and Rose and Will are living together and have a young daughter. Lacy had said she was not settling down and dated a lot. Of the four, she was the most beautiful but she looked at that as a detriment rather than something to be proud of. She had lived here all her life and had never traveled; but wanted to. Now she is wondering if she should be getting serious about someone if she wanted a child. Lacy’s current boyfriend, Brandon, surprised her with a proposal. She was speechless and he took that as a yes. Thus, she found herself engaged to a dentist her Mother set her up with. Lacy wasn’t sure this was what she wanted; but it was the next logical step so she went along with it. Her friends didn’t hesitate to try to talk her out of this. Rose was the most vocal and it nearly cost her friendship with Lacy. None of the three could see Lacy being happy with Brandon and began to see him trying to change her. Daniel Reed, a local artist who showed his work with Gen in her gallery, decided he was ready to redo his house and build a better studio to do his glass blowing in. He had a large commission from Las Vegas so had the money. He wasn’t sure what he wanted so asked his friend Ryan what to do. Ryan sent him to Victor Jordan, Lacy’s father, for advice as an architect and builder. Daniel agreed and thought possibly getting to know Lacy better would be an added bonus. Daniel had to travel to Las Vegas for the installation and unveiling of his work for the hotel. He was offered extra comped rooms for any friends or family who wanted to attend. Daniel decided to invite his friends so asked for five rooms. Kate and Jackson, Gen and Ryan, and Rose and Will eagerly accepted. Since she was a member of the gang, he invited Lacey and Brandon. Lacey was eager to accept; but Brandon refused. Finally, he agreed to go; but only if he paid for the room. Having met him, the entire gang, including Daniel, thought he was rude and nuts for not accepting a free room. What fireworks would go off in Vegas? Would this trip be the start of something terrible or wonderful?
This is the first book I've read from this author and I probably won't be coming back for more. Largely because I didn't really like the characters.
Lacy is beautiful. So beautiful. We're reminded of this so many times I have to assume it's because that's all she has going for her. To me Lacy was a real chickensh!t. She lives in a trailer out the back of her parents' place, works as a barista and has basically never left the town she grew up in. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being a barista or even living in a trailer but Lacy had no plans to expand her horizons. She let a guy think she cheated on him just so she didn't have to break up with him - like I said, chickensh!t. Lacy was basically waiting for a man to come along and deliver a house and travel opportunities. Not that she really had ambition for those things (or for anything).
Daniel was ok but it was kind of disappointing how he was rushed into feeling ready for marriage and the works. It was realistic and likeable for him to need more time so early in the relationship but then only a week after asking for more time, it was BAM he's ready! Lame.
This is really a 2.5 stars. I just didn't like it as well as the previous books. There was a build up that took the majority of the book with a rushed last 10 pages. It felt as though the male character (who had a tons of hang-ups) suddenly got over everything with participation in a minor emergency by the side of the road and the female character was such a flake that her hang-up paled in comparison of his ability to rationally respond in the face of said minor emergency. The end was too rushed and far too neat to be satisfying.
This is book 4 in Seed's Main Street Merchants series and while it can be read/listened to as a standalone, I adore this as the conclusion to the series. This book focuses on main characters Lacy Jordan and Daniel Reed. Lacy has stood by and watched all her friends find their HEA so when her current boyfriend proposes she feels pressured and says yes but quickly realizes he's not the one for her and really, everyone else knows it too. Daniel is physically attracted to Lacy, as is all the men in this small town at one point in their lives but Daniel is drawn to her for more than looks. A whirl wind of events not only brings these two together but forces them to grow quickly in their blooming relationship. The scene towards the end with Rose had me in stiches laughing out loud. The narration was beautiful and brought these characters to life. I adored the advice Daniel's friends gave and how easily they saw to the root of the matter. A well written and well-balanced small-town romance. The perfect HEA ending for this group of friends and while I hate to see this series come to an end - I definitely loved the end. Can't for what's next from Seed!
I received this audiobook at no-cost from AdoptAnAudiobook.com. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it. This review is based on the audio version of this read.

I dived into this book thinking that it would be another hot and sexy kinda book. But then once I started reading, I found that it's nothing close to my earlier assumption.
I wonder why every female character has to look perfect. Like, why? Aren't they humans or what? Technically not but then they are playing the roles of humans so they shouldn't be always PERFECT. Everytime I come across a romance book, the female character always has to look good and be perfect. So, in the book the girl is pretty but dare I say mousy and bit of a coward.
As for the male protagonist, he came off as awkward to me. Not the socially awkward kind, but something more of you-don't-want-to-invest-your-time-in-me.
The whole marriage thingy felt rushed to me. I wanted to see more of the character development and not rushed into the final scene.
This is the fourth book in this series. It is the first one for me. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. There were some humorous parts that I couldn’t get enough of. Once the dog comes on the scene the tone of the book changes. It becomes lighter and funnier. My other favorite scenes is when the ladies are discussing how men and ice cream are similar. That just cracked me up. Chunky Monkey or Neapolitan...I hope I can remember this! Seriously this is a favorite moment.
This is my first book by this author. Again I enjoyed her story and the characters. I did listen to this on audio. Avie Paige did a great job. Her scoffing and little additives helped put this story over the top.
Book four and the final of Linda's "Main Street Merchants" series. This one is Lacy & Daniel's story, the last of a group of four friends who may get together and have an HEA! As with the other books, all the characters appear here. All the characters are so well-written that I honestly swear they are very real! You also feel that you are connected to them. As with all of Linda's books and this is no exception it's exceptional, well-written, intriguing that just draws the reader in from start to finish. The emotional pull to the story is quite extraordinary. This is certainly a book I would have no hesitation in recommending.
This is only the second story in this series I have listened to and the second one by this author I have been exposed to, and I must say I have become a fan. Lacy Jordan and Daniel Reed are wonderful characters that you will fall in love with. The writing is hilarious , the feelings of both Lacy and Daniel, and the family dynamics the author presents to the reader, are all very real. You feel that Daniel, Lacy and their friends the kind of friends you can sit down and chat, love and at times just want to strangle. Sounds familiar ? :) Definitely another great addition to this series.
This is the fourth and final book in the Moonstone Merchants series, and I had been eagerly waiting to read Lacy's story. This book did not disappoint. Lacy's story did not play out as I expected, which made it even more interesting and fun for me to read. When I read Linda's books, I feel like I'm reconnecting with old friends, and as she developed this series, the characters grew in depth and the dialogue also became very real and strong.
As I've said in my other reviews, if you want to take a quick escape to the Central Coast, these are the stories that will transport you there.
A great, fun, very satisfying read! This was a fun read... quick paced, constant interest. This was very much a pageturner! I wanted to throttle the mother LOL. I only picked this up because it was free, but I'm looking for new authors to follow, so I"m definitely buying the whole rest of the series!
Started off well but lost steam as I turned the pages! Glimpses of what could be a great novel were few and far between and nothing really developed. Lacey and Daniel lacked the hero/heroine characteristics that I look for in a contemporary romance. Stilted at times boring at other times. Please read it for yourself and make up your own mind. 2.5 Stars from me.
Very disappointing book. Loved the beginning and then the middle rambled after the car ride home from Vegas. I didn’t get the connection between Lacy & Daniel at all. Ending was so rushed and left me hanging.
I loved this story! I enjoyed the learning of making glass art. The love of friends was super and pretty funny. The perspectives from male versus female was great!
I loved all the MSM series, this final one was no exception. Daniel is adorable, Lacy is relatable and I loved the dog. But mostly I loved hanging out with the MSN friends again. If you liked one to three, four will please you. Linda Seed does a good job of presenting real couples with all the familial baggage they bring with them. Lacy's sprawling family is adorable and I am looking forward to that series.
