Who were the women present at Christ's crucifixion? Why did they come, and why did they stay? What did they see? What did they hear? How do their actions speak to people today? In searching for answers to these and other questions, author Linda Lesniewski discovered that she shared a spiritual kinship with the women who stood there as well as those who have been changed by the cross throughout the years.Women who read this book will discover a new depth of love for Jesus Christ and realize a greater appreciation for his sacrifice. They will experience the wonders and mysteries of Christ's love, and their faith will be strengthened. Perfect for small groups or personal study, Women at the Cross brings alive the devotion, loyalty, and servanthood of the women who came, who stayed, and who continue to come even today.

It wasn't what I expected at all, but it's still an encouraging nod to Christian women. The first 1/3 is about the women who were present when Jesus was crucified. Then it moves on to Christian women in history and their contributions, then to us in modern times. I'm not sure the subtitle is fitting because if anything, it's about Christ's relationship with the women, and that's not nearly as prominent in the book as the women themselves.
I loved that it included something that I think is rarely talked about and that is how Jesus treated women more gently than he did the men. It has a few insights that explain why that is.
This is a very good book on a topic that has never received much attention: how women reacted to Christ and His sacrifice. I find very interesting that the author unabashedly describes how faithful and responsive those women that believed in Christ became toward Him to the end both during His time on earth and today. Surely very good reading.
We start our journey learning about the women who were actually present at the foot of the cross. Then we learn about early Christian Female Trailblazers and finish with tips on how today, we can remain faithful at the foot of the cross, sharing the good news of Jesus and winning followers to Him. I rated 4 stars because it had a stronger start than finish.
This is a great book to ease into the study of women at the cross and female contributions to ministry. I would have preferred more detail, but it was good. A quick read.
Book started off great, with interesting facts and unknown information about the important women that were there at resurrection. However the remaining half of the book talked briefly about random women through the last 2000 years, could have been more thorough in the first part of book.

This was an easy read that I chose to read during the month leading to Easter. It tells of women at the cross and women who served Jesus after the cross and encourages women today.
"Women at the Cross" is a devotional or Bible study type book for women. It started with the women who are named as those with Jesus at the cross and resurrection. The author explained what we know about them and gave some cultural and daily life information about women at that time. She then used Scripture and cultural background information to write a "filled out" description of Jesus' death and resurrection.
The second part of the book gave brief biographies of some notable Christian women through the ages who have lived and died to spread the Good News. These biographies were so brief that I'm not sure how much impact they have. I've read more detailed biographies on many of these women, and maybe the intent was to interest the readers in learning more. The last part was about how modern women have and can respond to Christ's death and resurrection.
I've read a lot of Bible culture and reference books, so I didn't learn anything new from this short ebook. However, if you're not familiar with this type of information and would like a brief "Christian women's history," then this is a good presentation of it.
Not what I was expecting. Thought it would be a deep theological and spiritual journey into the women who were at the cross, similar to a meditation. Just a basic overview of the women, cultural probabilities of their lives and a bland synopsis of the historical events followed by some ramblings of other history and more modern women who led Christian lives.
This is an interesting study. It talks about the women who followed Jesus in the Bible and then covers others today. Very interesting. My mother was very much like the women mentioned in this book. Mother loved Jesus with all of her heart and spent her life making sure others knew about Him.
How fitting to start this book on Good Friday and end on Easter. I learned some facts on the place of women in the Jewish community, more information on the women who were at the crucifixion, and famous Godly women in the early and following centuries.
