Each of these six stories has a significant relationship at its core. And each of these six stories has a theme of preservation running through it. But not every relationship can be preserved. Sometimes preservation is in the act of acceptance and moving on. Sometimes it is about learning to do better. Sometimes preservation comes after a long absence, after what is lost is found.

Eric always had fond memories of Meridian from when he lived there as a child. When he began his law enforcement career, it was the place he wanted to serve as a police officer. He is proud of Meridian for becoming one of the top communities in the United States to live and raise a family.
I will admit I have not read many short stories, but the commonality in these throughout the book connected Ted them well. It was an awesome quick read (listen) while I was on my way to work.
