Raising the Sun

Isaac Miller is a failure—in business and life—but he’ll be damned if he asks for help. When his older brother sends him to an occult shop of all things, the cryptic man behind the counter offers up a spell that'll supposedly lead him down the path of success. Isaac doesn’t believe in magic, but when the incantation causes a demon to show up in his bedroom through a puff of smoke, he may have to reassess his beliefs.

The beautiful yet arrogant menace holds the key to all of Isaac’s desires, but apparently, the morally grey don't work for free.

Amadeus, 'Ash,’ is growing weary of his usual mischief and mayhem, and is in need of some thrilling venture to sink his fangs into. When he finds himself summoned to the human realm by a delightfully desperate florist, it’s as if fate has dropped an entertaining new endeavour into his lap. Luring the innocent man into his bed would be one way to cure his boredom, so what's the harm in pretending it’s part of the deal?

What Ash doesn't expect is to feel compelled to heal the defeated creature, and discover that doing so might just fill the void in his soul.

Could this accidental summoning turn into the perfect arrangement? Or is the road to happiness paved with malicious intentions and wilted blooms? There’s one way to find out.

RAISING THE SUN is a standalone MM romance with flower shows, demon summoning, and magic spells. It features a sassy phoenix-shifter contracted into helping a human realise his worth and a self-conscious florist who is struggling to keep his crumbling business afloat. It’s part of the multi-author collaboration TALES FROM THE TAROT. This novel is based on the major arcana card THE SUN.

This was an interesting one for me. I really enjoy this author and I was excited about the concept of this series. There was nothing wrong with this book but I just didn’t connect with it as much as I wanted to and it took me a lot longer than normal to finish.

The thing that I enjoyed the most and had me continuing the story was their dynamic in the bedroom. I’m a huge fan of the unexpected dynamics and that is exactly what we had here! Issac is a sweet, self-conscious man and Ash is the demon. I was not expecting Ash to be the bottom in their strict-roles relationship and to be dominant! Topping from the bottom is totally Ash and I loved that!

I liked the characters themselves but the story felt very surface level. So if you’re read others in this series or are looking for a read with a great bedroom dynamic that you can read at your leisure then it’s worth giving it a try!

"I kissed him hard. Mostly to silence his nervous chuntering so I had the chance to process, but also because it never failed to please me how he would melt into the touch."

Awww, this was a cute novella from the Tales From The Tarot series of linked standalones by a variety of fabulous authors. Raising the Sun is Eryn Hawk's contribution and it's Ash and Isaac's story.

If you like your demons powerful, but also cute and sassy, and your humans virginal and lacking in confidence and self-belief until their demon awakens ALL THE THINGS in them - then this is the book for you!

MCs:

🐈‍⬛💐🌷🌺🌿👉 Isaac "Iz" Miller:
🌻 With blond curls, bright blue eyes, charming freckles, and flushed cherubic cheeks (at least to Ash), Isaac is a 28yo struggling florist who feels like a failure, both in his business and in life.
🌻 He comes across as insecure but has a genuinely kind heart.
🌻 He’s lost confidence in himself, constantly exhausted, and is stubborn to a fault. He refuses to ask for or accept help from his family, even though deep down, he’s on the verge of giving up.
🌻 His life takes a turn when he doubtfully performs a spell, without realizing it’s a summoning and accidentally summons Amadeus. 😅
🌻 From that moment on, Isaac is forced to confront his fears and rediscover his self-worth.

😈🧞‍♀️🔥🪶👉 Amadeus “Ash”:
🪶 A 232-year-old powerful Phoenix Demon, Ash is a tall, lean man with ginger hair and muted-orange eyes. He loves wearing jewelry, sexy lingerie, and dressing up in silks, veils, and other lavish fabrics.
🪶 He’s charming, arrogant, chaotic, and unapologetically morally gray... because, well, he’s a demon. And he’s brimming with sass.
🪶 When Isaac accidentally summons him, Ash initially sees him as nothing more than an amusing distraction. But before long, he finds himself unexpectedly invested in helping the florist regain his confidence, realizing that doing so fills a void he didn’t even know he had.
🪶 Despite his cocky and sarcastic nature, Ash is surprisingly protective, loyal, and even tender.

📖 This book is beautifully written, with a compelling story that kept me hooked from start to finish. The characters are rich and well-developed, making every moment feel alive and immersive. I truly enjoyed reading it, the world-building is perfect, and the narrative flows effortlessly.
🥰 A fantastic read that leaves a lasting impression!

Their Dynamic:
💞 Isaac and Ash’s relationship is a mix of humor, banter, and mutual growth.
Ash teases Isaac out of his shell, forcing him to confront his insecurities, while Isaac challenges Ash to embrace his own emotions and depth.
Their bond evolves into a story of healing, learning, and love as they discover they’re better together than apart.

🌶🍒 Their chemistry is off the charts, with plenty of steamy, tender moments to keep you hooked.

🎩🔮🃏 As always, I love the mysticism and cryptic nature of magic men.
🐈‍⬛ And, of course, the ever-entertaining inconvenient moments... especially for Ash... courtesy of Moxie, the cock-blocking neighbor's cat. 😅

▪︎FAV QUOTES▪︎

■ '“You? Vulnerable? Somehow, I highly doubt that.”
He pouted. “I am a delicate flower who needs a handsome knight to keep me safe and protected at all times.” Shrugging, he tacked on, “But since you haven’t yet fallen for my wit and charm, magic shields will have to do.”
Nope, I was wrong. Having him here would be as terrible as I’d first anticipated."

🤤 ■ "First the robe, then the crop top, and now nothing but a towel and the water droplets clinging to his skin like morning dew. Ash was doing it on purpose. He had to be. He wanted me to cave, or to give me an aneurysm so he could leave, one state of undress at a time. Those were the only two theories I could muster..."

👌 One of the highlights of this book is Ash's sassiness and boldness. I love it!

😏 ■ “It’s called sex appeal, pet, and I happen to have it in spades. Even in this mundane form.” He studied his nails. “It’s hardly my fault humans are simple and moronic, and will part with their money for less than a flash of well-toned ankles or a batting of thick eyelashes.”
“Flash of…” I pinched the bridge of my nose, sighing deeply. “You’re unbelievable.”
“Thank you, my dear. I don’t even have to try.”"

💯 I'm looking forward to reading the following books in this Series

👌If you enjoy supernatural romance with humor, self-discovery, and a heartwarming happily-ever-after, this is a perfect choice!

😉 Thanks for reading hope this helps you out!

4-4.25 stars for me, I enjoyed this one!

Raising the Sun is one of the books that is taking place in a multi-author shared world, all revolving around the major arcana of tarot cards. In this story, we have Isaac, who is a struggling flower shop owner, and the demon that he accidentally summons, Ash.

Although initially Ash is resistant to being forced from his home and tied to a human who doesn't really want to have anything to do with him, he stars to see Isaac for what he has the potential to be and helps him find that inner confidence. I enjoy this author's writing and her paranormal romances so much! Their chemistry is sweet and sexy, Ash is just sassy and chaotic and I love him, and I like a bit of a swap for their physical roles - I love Ash teaching Isaac about all the fun you can have.

Being that this is a novella, I do feel like things moved quickly, even though it covered a couple of months. I wish we had gotten a few more moments of them together, deepening the feels and emotional connection. As with many novellas, there's just not enough time to get under the surface of things, the plot has to keep moving along.

I need to check out other books in this shared world, some sound so fun!!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Self-worth and acceptance are the main themes, and a lovely and sweet story was built around these themes.
A boring, sassy, not ‘just’ a demon and a florist without confidence.

Isaac’s life needs a boost, and the guy from The Magic Shop can help. Isaac gets some wise words, a spell, and some rules to follow.
He’s quite skeptical as if his life would take a turn. Until there’s a demon in his room out of nowhere.

Amadeus aka Ash is as surprised as Isaac is, ending up in the human realm.
Isaac is reluctant to get help from a demon, Ash thinks the silly human is adorable, and is not sure if he should kill him or not.

What follows is a sweet story where both discover they need each other, one way or the other.
I love this story, it was fun, sexy, and with all the feels.

Raising the Sun is a sweet story of finding your own self worth and believing you are capable and deserve good things.

Isaac's flower shop is failing and he is struggling to believe he can turn things around, but the appearance of Ash (a very hot, sassy power bottom of a demon) in his life brings a soul bond and an agreement that could spell change for the better.

I loved Ash so much! He was brilliant, all demon and so confident and funny. He had his own emotional journey which I really enjoyed and he was just a very fun morally grey (dark grey at times) character.

Isaac was sweet and sad and really needed a hug. I felt for him a lot because the flower shop was his dream but his self confidence had taken a huge beating and he was really struggling under the weight of it all. Also, customer service am I right? I do not miss retail.

The two of them together were a good match and had a lot of heat and tension between them that was fun to read, and their emotional journey together was gentle and sweet.

Overall I really enjoyed the read and loved the characters. I would recommend to anyone who wants a low stakes, feel good romance!

An inspiring story

As per usual, Eryn Hawk didn't disappoint but this time, it was a bit different: her book hit me on a personal level as I am experiencing first handedly Isaac's feeling of helplessness. I was incredibly sad for him because I know how he feels like, how exhausting and depressing it feels to see your goal in life slip between your fingers while you can't do anything about it, just because "life" decided it wouldn't work for you. I also get his attitude of "yeah, whatever" whenever something happens to him... Such as a demon appearing in his room–

Slight spoilers ahead!

While Ash is a seemingly careless demon, he does care. He saw something in the man that had almost given up on his dream and, while his intentions weren't that noble at first, he ended up making Isaac's goal his. By finding each other, they could both find out why they woke up each morning, in their own way and I found that absolutely beautiful and inspiring!

Their story inspired me, as corny as it may sound, to stop acting like Isaac acts towards himself. While the book touched on emotional (and true) stuff, it never got heavy or too emotional to read, which I liked. The humor and the wooing were on point and there were hilarious moments (such as the musical–) where I giggled to myself like a crazy person.

"'Fucking hell!' I smirked, leaning in to brush my nose against his. 'Indeed you are, my dear.'"

Raising the Sun was a short and sweet addition to the Tarot collection, but still packed an emotional punch and gave us a pair of lovable characters.

Honestly, I’d love to have a friend like Amadeus/Ash because he was hilarious, and to see his affections towards Isaac bloom - if you’ve read this, pardon the pun - was a lovely experience. Ash was able to see himself as more than just a demon, last in line to the throne, the forgotten child that can do whatever he wants. As reluctant as he was at first, Isaac gave Ash purpose and love which was exactly what he needed.

On the flip side, Isaac really lacked self confidence and his demon roommate certainly had enough to spare. But it wasn’t just a case of “how can you not see how brilliant you are, Isaac?” from Amadeus. He didn’t have to boost Isaac with words - he just helped on the sidelines while Isaac realised his own self worth on his own, where he blossomed - again, sorry - into a brand new and improved version of himself.

Did I wish the story was longer? Yes, but only because I was greedy for this pair, and when Isaac told us about a lot of the spicy things they’d done off page, oh how I wish I could’ve read them for myself. But I did still enjoy it, and I’d love to read a bit more about Isaac’s brother, Wayne. Not to mention, I’m a bit curious about Moxie the cat who happened to fucking smirk right at the end.

Short but so so sweet (and a bit spicy 👀)

Raising The Sun follows a weary florest who ends up with possibly the world’s worst (or best) roommate, a demon Prince from hell.

The story is sweet and tender, funny and sassy, and just a little bit spicy. Its short but Eryn had really packed it all in and it definitely ticked all my boxes for a heartwarming and fun cosy read that left me satisfied.

Greatful to have recieved an ARC copy for review 👏🏻 Thoughts are honest and my own.

3.5☆ rounded up. Very sweet, and I thoroughly enjoyed both Isaac and Ash. It would have gotten a higher star rating from me if the entire middle of the book hadn't been a tell-not-show summary of their relationship development, but even with that it had me smiling and gave me the warm fuzzies I want from a romance 🥰

slow start but great ending

Rating: 4🌈

The major arcana card THE SUN.

Another novel in the wonderful series, Tales from the Tarot, Raising the Sun by Eryn Hawk got off to a slightly slow start but finished strong and fabulous!

Most of that was due to the character of Isaac Miller, a florist down on his luck who summons a demon for a chance to change things up.

At first, Isaac just isn’t that likable. He’s whiny, rude, and defeated. But his personality and development, especially in tandem with that of the demon prince Ash, just works so well. It’s their chemistry and their friendship that makes this both a warmhearted, sexy read.

Each being/person has a path of discovery and growth ahead of them. What they will realize is that they have needed each other to bring out the best qualities to fulfill their potential together. There’s no fated mates. Just a relationship that is lovely and meaningful. And sexy and fun. And full of flowers.

The Magic Shop and The Owner as an element is minimal at best but I enjoyed how the card was employed during the story.

I would have enjoyed more exploration of their future plans but where the author left them was satisfying as was that last event. Absolutely loved it.

Another sexy , fun paranormal adventure and romance in this series to recommend!

A beautiful slice of life, with an insecure florist and a strutting, immodest demon. It sounds impossible, but somehow they fit anyway.

Isaac is 28, and has practically no self-confidence. He's still sensitive about his parents' lack of faith in his chosen career, and his beloved flower shop is in danger of closing. He can't even make himself sign up for the flower show he admires, so when his brother hands him a note with an address on it, he reluctantly decides to go. Our old friend, the man in the top hat with the magical bookshop, once again sets the wheels in motion when he hands the despondent Isaac a handful of items and a spell to go with them.

Ash is the son of a viscount, but with 11 siblings he is very much a spare, and bored in his opulent manor. When he's summoned by a surprised Isaac, he is intrigued and decides to go with it - in spite of those things usually being handled by much lesser demons. The human is pretty, and he's not bored anymore!

I like how different their voices are. It can sometimes be difficult to tell the difference, and I'll have to to back to the chapter header to find out who's speaking, but Isaac and Ash are easy. Isaac uses expressions like “You’re talking shite,” while Ash is eloquent and poetic and calls his human names like pet, precious, petal, darling, dear, and "good little creature."

It was no secret that the human was drowning in self-loathing—a typically hilarious sight from my perspective. His confidence was nearly non-existent, and the fear of failure his constant companion. Since my arrival, I’d caught mere glimpses of his true personality. His wit, his creativity, his persistence. All bewitching qualities, but because of the rut he was stuck in, they were all buried deep under misery and hopelessness. He needed to be dragged out of that pitiful hole, nurtured until his spark returned with force.

Raising the Sun is Ern Hawk's contribution to the Tales from the Tarot multiauthor series. It's based on the major arcana card, the Sun. The card symbolizes good fortune, happiness, joy, self confidence, success and harmony. Reversed it symbolizes false impressions, lack of clarity, low vitality, and sadness.
Isaac Miller is the living representation of the reversed card. Despite his obsessive devotion and hard work, his florist business is failing. He's poured his savings into his store, and there's not much more. He can barely drag himself out of bed in the morning, lives on ramen and works and worries himself into depression.
The demon, Amadeus, is bored. Nothing to do. Torture just doesn't do it for him anymore. He's summoned to the human realm, how dare they, and finds a way to break through his ennui. He's found a human, virgin and innocent. Someone to seduce and torture.
Isaac is an enigma to the demon from the first. He's disrespectful. And not terrified of the demon with the big horns, metal claws and slit orange eyes. Ash's pride takes a hit when the human fails to fall into his arms. Repeatably.
Ash has a soft side which he keeps well hidden. Isaac's trust in him brings out his protectiveness. His superior attitude and support has Isaac climbing out of depression. Ash shores up Isaac's self confidence.
Their relationship is so sweet. The imagery of a sunflower, slowly opening, came to mind as I read.
So beautiful. Sizzling hot in the bedroom, living room and florist shop's workroom. Pearl clutching, fan yourself kink.
A quick read. So much fun. Eryn Hawk is a new author for me and I can't wait for more.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

"I side-eyed the smirking demon I'd accidentally summoned all those weeks ago. The one who, in his own way, had made me feel more deserving of happiness than anyone ever had."

This was such a sweet addition to the Tales of the Tarot multi-author series! Isaac starts out completely down on his luck. Well it's more of a rut of his own making. When Isaac opened his flower shop he had big dreams and goals for the place. Unfortunately, he's fallen into a bit of a depressive spiral and this has affected his work. He's finally found himself desperate enough that when he takes his brothers advice and visits a magic shop, he ends up leaving with a spell. One he performs in his bedroom before passing out for the night. Isaac definitely did not expect to see a demon standing in his bedroom when he wakes up.

Ash is a spoiled demon. He's a total posh diva with a snooty attitude to match. So when he ends up in a tiny apartment after being accidentally summoned, he's wondering if just killing the human will fix this whole thing. But he has gotten bored, and he also wonders if this human could be the excitement he's been craving.

I loved how Ash totally got Isaac out of his comfort zone, but in a playful way. Once he got to know him, Ash was determined to make Isaac see his true worth. He may be a total snob, but somehow Isaac got his to long frozen heart. It was actually quite sweet. And spicy! Ash is a demon and he knows how to temp folks. Their steamy times were HOT and naive, virgin Isaac didn't stand a chance. I don't think either of them thought when they met that the other was going to be the person to change their lives for the better, but that is exactly what happened and I couldn't be happier for them both!

Isaac is drowning and refuses to ask for help, so his brother decides to give him a push. When he goes to see the Owner at the Magic Shop he is skeptical and leaves feeling dejected. Later at home he decides to do the spell he received from the Owner and is surprised to have a demon standing in his bedroom. He isn't agreeable to the demon's demands, so he tells him no and goes to sleep. It doesn't take the demon long to wear Isaac down and he's turning over a new leaf.

Ash is a minor demon and quite bored. He's tired of the same old torture of souls. When he is unceremoniously summoned to the human realm he isn't in an agreeable mood to help out his summoner, so he demands something personable that Isaac isn't ready to give. However Ash is a pro at getting what he wants. He knows exactly how to wear Isaac down. It isn't long before he's making an agreement with Isaac and getting all up in Isaac's business.

Isaac and Ash form a routine and suddenly his shop is selling out. Isaac thinks Ash is using his magic to make this happen but he isn't. Ash is just giving Isaac the confidence he needs to make a go of his business. He's soon thinking that entering into the flower competition isn't a bad idea after all.

This is a really sweet fantasy romance. Isaac and Ash are vastly different but exactly what each other need in their lives. The chemistry is hot during the sexy times and sweet during the rest of their interactions. I liked that Isaac's brother really believed in him and didn't give up since Isaac was so stubborn and unwilling to accept help. I really liked the parts where Ash was being his normal self and Isaac had to rein him in. No poisoning the neighbor! Way to ruin Ash's fun Isaac. ;) This is definitely worth the read.

This was my first book by Eryn Hawk and after reading it, I will definitely be going back to read their backlist. I loved this book so much!

Ash is my favorite demon ever. His support of Isaac was everything and so sweet, if sometimes misguided (unaliving as a grand romantic gesture?)

I've read a lot of books from this series and the one thing they all have in common is the magical shopkeeper. In this book, his matchmaking prowess really shines! Ash is tired of the same old routine and doesn't actually realize how lonely his existence has become. When Isaac accidentally-on-purpose summons him (guided by instructions he doesn't think will really work), Ash is taken by the shy, introverted human who has lost all of his confidence. Ash becomes determined to rebuild Isaac's self-worth and help him save his flower shop. Who would have thought a demon could be such a good life coach?

Along the way, they fall in love, but Isaac is certain someone as beautiful, experienced, and powerful as Ash could never want him back, could he?

The story is low angst and super sweet with a satisfying HEA. There's a mischievous cat and plenty of demon antics to keep things entertaining. This was an easy, low-stakes read that made my whole day better. I adored the MCs and I hope to see more of them in snippets from the author in the future.

My only complaint, and it is very small, is that it's never explained how they will make the relationship work as Isaac continues to age at a much faster rate than Ash. Presumably, Ash is immortal. There's no discussion about it though. I want to know that they are going to be together and in love forever, but without it being stated in the narrative, I'm just going to assume that's the case.

Isaac & Amadeus (Ash)
Such an interesting concept for a demon/human romance. Though summoning a demon for assistance can be a somewhat common theme here and there, the human is usually more likely to know they're doing the summoning, not just playing around without believing it to be possible. The early interactions with Isaac & Ash in this book are hilarious. I love the way Eryn writes her characters; they always have some silly awkwardness to them that makes them so endearing and loveable.

I was surprised at the early list of triggers that Eryn lists before the book begins, because unless I simply have no personal triggers, I hardly noticed anything too out of the ordinary. Yes, there's always some quirks with a morally questionable demon, but I never sensed anything inherently dangerous about him. And most of his threats seemed sarcastic and mentioned off the cuff.

I loved the evolution of the relationship between Isaac and Ash. It flowed so smoothly, and it was wonderful to watch Ash discover the softer parts of himself, and realize how he can be a true partner to Isaac. Watching Isaac also bloom throughout their relationship and realizing his personal worth was really sweet. I do wish he'd been able to share a bit more of that worth with his family though. I was surprised that we didn't get a follow-up with The Owner, or another visit with his brother Wayne.

Raising the Sun is an outstanding addition to the Tales from the Tarot series. I had so much fun reading through such a fantastic story.

I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

3.5⭐️ 2🌶️
MOOD: funny, emotional, lighthearted
TROPES: contractual relationship, forced proximity, virgin MMC
GENRES: contemporary, fantasy, lgbtq romance
FAV QUOTE: "No quite, pet." He grinned, smug and shark-like. "But I can be your savior, if you wish me to be."

MAIN CHARACTERS: Isaac Miller and Amadeus aka Ash
TAROT CARD: The Sun

THE GOOD: This is a cute, quick low-angst (for having a demon) story. Flower shop owner, Isaac suffers from really low self-confidence and Ash has waaaaay too much (among other things, he's a Demon). The Magician decides that they'd work well together and we get to see what happens.
THE NEUTRAL: The book is dual POV but there are more chapters in Isaac's POV. This is fine when reading but when I got to the end, it made some of Ash's character development feel abrupt given his POV at the start of the book.
THE MEH: This story was more cozy than I expected - cozy is fine, I love a cozy monster romance - but based on the content warnings provided by the author I was expected more immoral & devious behavior from Ash and different levels of sexual content. It could be because I have read a bunch of dark romance and/or monster romance so "morally grey" has a specific meaning to me.

CW: sexual content, mentions of torture and murder
DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy. This is my honest review.

I love Hawk's paranormal romances, which manage to be full of feelings and emotions and all the complexities of humanity (even when some of the characters aren't actually human) without being too angsty, it's a delicate balance done really well. I empathised so much with our human MC Isaac, a flower-loving introvert who has tried to reach his dream and feels it slipping from him through a combination of bad luck and his own insecurities and baggage tripping him over and over.
This place was the best thing in my life, and the bane of my entire existence. It made me want to get up every morning, but also wish I hadn't.
When he accidentally makes a pact with a sassy and super confident phoenix-demon Ash the sparks fly, but Isaac is still determined to get in the way of his own happiness. It's going to take every bit of sexual persuasion in the beautiful demon's body (and getting his fingers literally dirty) to turn things around enough for Isaac to believe in himself again. Also featuring Moxie, the neighbour's chubby cat who is determined to sneak into the plot wherever possible.

☀️🧡 Raising the Sun ARC Review 🧡☀️

Thank you so much to Eryn Hawk for the opportunity to read and review this book

Raising the Sun is a standalone MM paranormal romance and part of the Tales of the Tarot world. Amadeus is a demon prince used to having everything…but he is bored and uninspired. When he is unexpectedly summoned to the human world, he finds exactly what he didn’t know he was looking for

This was a super cute read. Isaac was a wonderful character and I really liked how he overcame his insecurities in this story. Amadeus was a perfect match for him and I really enjoyed their relationship. This was a quick read and I found myself wanting to see more of them, but I definitely enjoyed this book

Overall this was a solid four star read. I enjoyed the characters and the story, and I would have loved it to have been a little longer. This book does have some darker elements, so please check triggers if you’re sensitive. This book did have some spicy scenes, so overall three flames for spice

If you’re a fan of paranormal romance with accidental summonings, low angst and fun characters, then absolutely pick this one up

“You know, I used to believe that nothing could bring me more joy than torturing pitiful souls, but I do rather favour seeing you smile.”

A cute florist and a phoenix demon, what could be better?

The owner, as always, meddled perfectly in this one to bring these two together. I liked how Isaac was a complete no believer of anything supernatural but very quickly changed his mind when he got the chance to use Ash’s horns.

The way the relationship builds between the two is really sweet. A sweet innocent grump who’s struggling with mental health and a cocky, horny demon who can’t wait to corrupt him. But then Isaac helps Ash become sweet, and although still a trouble maker, brings out some humanity in him.

I loved Ash’s character, he was trouble but the second Isaac was inserted into his life his trouble was making sure he did everything to please him. Honestly sweet as anything.

I loved Isaac’s personal growth, how he’s struggling with his mental health and the ability to keep his shop open. But how he comes out the other side with Ashs help and mends other relationships around him as well as an achieve goals he never thought he could do.

🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

“At that point, if he’d asked for my soul, I’d have dropped to my knees and begged him to take it.”

I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Raising the Sun by Eryn Hawk was a fabulous, fun read. Isaac and Ash are one of my favorites from Eryn. Isaac is so unsure of himself and feels like he is losing his florist business. Isaac feels that not one person supports him. Loneliness and failure sets in. Isaac’s brother gives him a card and he stumbles into The Magic Shop. The Owner, whom we have seen in the Tales from the Tarot series repeatedly if you have read more than once. These are standalones and they can be read together. Isaac is told to perform this spell, and he will have what he needs. Amadeus, who is a demon, gets bored with hell and looking for something new gets summoned. He and Isaac learn together what Isaac needs. They are so cute together. I love that Ash goes out of his way to make sure that Isaac’s emotional needs are taken care of. Even after Ash is no longer held to the spell all he wants to do is make Isaac smile. I love the trust they built with each other and learning that this is what they both needed. They both needed to be loved unconditionally while trusting themselves. This is such a great tale. Demon and Florist match made in this amazing universe. Eryn knows how to keep readers hooked and engaged. I would love to see more from these cuties about 5 years down the line to see them still being happy. I would recommend it to all my friends and in the book club I am in.

We are almost through the Tales from the Tarot series! I read this one a bit out of order because I saw there was a power bottom. Sorry not sorry.

This book revolves around the Sun card. The Sun is positivity, warmth, and success. It's reverse is inner child, depression, and over optimism. The novella covers most of the themes of the card. Both Isaac and Ash represent the upright and reverse through different points in this book.

I thought it wasn't bad at all! The plot and the struggles portrayed in the book were nice. Isaac has such a hard time asking for help and has been drowning. Until he's pushed up against a wall literally and metaphorically, only then does he give in.

My main thing was that a lot of things happen very quickly which is par for the course for a novella. I enjoyed Ash's seductive, spoiled, and supportive personality. It was a great opposition to Isaac's anxious, another a word, and determined nature.

I don't think I'll be revisiting this but I'm happy I read it.
