Our Haunted Home

Rate this book
Harry and Lisa have different plans for their haunted home. While Lisa dreams of turning a profit on the rental market, Harry sees an opportunity to capture evidence of the paranormal so that he can prove to the world that ghosts are real through his growing YouTube channel. But as the eerie occurrences at number 7 Ragworth Lane escalate and fear starts to tighten its grip, Harry's obsession turns into a dangerous fixation more terrifying than any horror the house can throw at the struggling couple. With each encounter, Harry dives deeper into a realm where reality blurs with the supernatural.

Will he uncover the mysteries of the afterlife, or will his relentless pursuit lead him to a darkness he cannot escape?

I am a very inconsistent reader, I’ll go weeks without picking the book back up, however when reading this book I couldn’t put it down, I stayed up at night telling myself just one more chapter which I have never done before. This book was so good at keeping you on edge and unsure as to what was going to happen next. The whole memory thing that originally felt like flash forwards was really interesting and I love how the book articulated the mental decline of Harry throughout the book, seeing people not actually be there like at the end. I honestly could have read 600 pages just about Harry and his renovation journey, this book just keeps you entertained even through just through Harry’s day to day life as you never know what to expect, early on you get glimpses into the narrative but you really don’t know what to make of it, the best instance of this is the broken pipe situation. Another highlight of the book was the whole day of Harry killing the dog and Lisa confronting him, this day shows just exactly what’s happened to Harry and when we first meet him we believe he is not capable of these actions. The book is quite open ended but I actually quite like it, it doesn’t explicitly spell everything out to you and you can kind of infer your own personal take. What an amazing read and I just want to congratulate Matt on his debut book, looking forward to reading more in the future!

The characters of this story were very real - you either know Harry, you are Harry, or you're married to Harry (or some combination). A slow burn at the start that starts rolling and tumbling and bursting through the walls after the first few chapters - and keeps getting wilder and more surprising as it goes on. Easily a single day read despite its length - I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to reading everything else Matthew releases!!

Brilliant read!

From the very start this book had me hooked, it was a real page turner. Great story line, believable characters and some gut wrenching moments of terror all told through the lens of Harry. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens next!!

Promising start but gone down hill halfway trough.

Could have been great book but author ruined it by doing exactly what I hate most.
