Love on the Line

Rate this book
A career-ending injury was never part of Maya Beaumont’s plan, especially when she has worked her entire life to break into the professional tennis world. Desperate to fill the void left in the wake of her injury, Maya must discover a new path that is as meaningful as her former career. But she may need to accept the help of an unexpected ally in the process.

Cooper Hayes, famed Sabertooths tight end, can’t outrun his playboy reputation. Instead, he’s embraced it, convincing even his friends and family he is content with the shallow and inaccurate image. But after watching his best friend fall in love, he’s finally ready to rewrite the narrative. Only problem? No one seems willing to believe in him.

In hopes of forging new futures built on their own terms, Maya and Cooper join forces. As they work together toward a shared goal, their feelings for each other become unavoidable. With everything on the line, will the pair be able to overcome their challenged pasts to make their new dreams come true? Or will the consequences of working so closely with one another put it all at risk?

The second book in the Beaumont Legacy series was just a sweet and fun as book 1!

This story deals with a lot of deep emotions. The main FMC, Maya, is a professional tennis player that is coming off of a career ending injury. She’s depressed and feeling lost. She’s always tried to be self sufficient and not rely on others but when her brother’s best friend starts to encourage her to do physical therapy and find something new to do with her life she decides to try.

I freaking love Cooper. The world only sees him as a playboy football star but he hates it. After a bad relationship in college, he gave up on finding a forever love. He has always felt something for his friend’s sister but when they begin circling each other while working on their new charity, he starts wanting more.

Cooper was so solid! He was just so sweet and went out of his way to make sure Maya was taken care of and happy. He calls her his ‘Sunflower’ and it’s so dang cute! This is a slow burn romance that is so worth the wait!

“𝘛𝘰𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘴𝘦.”

I really enjoyed Maya and it made me so happy that she was able to learn more about her Indian heritage and traditions.

#Review: *Love On The Line* - Vai Denton - ARC [18+]
4.5/5✨
2.5/5🌶️

After I read the first book of 'Beaumont Legacy', it was time for the next part, which I received from Vai, as an ARC. Thank you for this opportunity🤗.

Even from the end of the first book I kind of guessed the main characters of this one and I was curious about their story. I'm talking about Maya, the little sister of Beaumont brothers, and Cooper, who is part of the same football team as Colton, Maya's older brother.

Maya is going through a tough time because of an injury on her hand, which is serious enough to end her tennis career. Now, she doesn't know what to do with her life. The idea of creating a non profit organization was the best thing for her at that moment. But for that, she needed money she didn't had. That's where Cooper intervenes, giving her the support she needed.

By working together, they'll start to have more feelings for each other, but the long distance relationship is not what they wanted.

They both had some issues to overcome. Maya needed to accept her present situation of not playing tennis anymore and to accept the moral support from her family and friends, because she always felt like a burden to them. Cooper needed to clear his playboy image before coming clean about his relationship with Maya. He didn't want to put Maya in an awkward position and wanted to be better for her.

As always, I have a soft spot for secret and forbidden romance. It comes with that angst and with those anticipative feelings of guilt. Besides this part, I liked that both, Maya and Cooper, have grown throughout the story and have accepted that life has it's dark parts too, which can be overcome with some help from their loved ones.

I liked this part a little more than the previous one. This was mainly because of the tropes of this book🤭. It had less actual sports scenes, but I liked that it focused on them, as individuals.

"Because you brighten up everything around you. You're brilliant and beautiful, and you have this air about you that just... lights up the world.

GUYS! GUYS! GUYS! Vai has outdone herself with this one because oh my gosh, I love this two little beans with all my heart! Like... I just have so many words to explain how this book made me feel!

overall rating: ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
spice rating: 🌶🌶️
southern rating: YEEHAW 🤠

Maya Beaumont, my ride or die girl, the girl who embodies so many of my qualities! After facing a career ending injury, she feels like she has no where to go. She stays at home, tries to hide from her brothers and uses her friends away. The one thing she felt she was good for is gone... until her brothers best friend, who she almost kissed nearly 3 years ago, helps show her that she can do so much good if she gave it a go. When she comes up with an idea for a charity to help less fortunate kids get the chance to play tennis, she asks Cooper for help.

Cooper Hayes, my southern cowboy, football player of a man that I want to kiss all over! This man deserves all the love in the world. After their almost kiss 3 years ago, Cooper hasn't sopped thinking about his best friends little sister and hoe he wishes he could be what she deserved... but when the media portrays him as a womaniser and his friends always berate him for it, he feels like he isn't good for anything else other than a good time. (oh how freaking wrong they are!!!!!!) So when Maya offers that he joins as a cofounder for her charity, he feels like he can finally do something good, as well as getting to stay close to Maya.

These two are just freaking sweet and gentle and kind and adorable and GAHHHH! They their relationship first stared, meeting for the first time and how Cooper was smitten with her (swoon) and how he referred to her as 'bright and open like a sunflower' (thus her nickname becoming sunflower!!!!) and how he wanted to help her through her dark phase after her injury, showing her she is more than just her sport and that she makes people feel alive around her. How Maya will reassure Cooper that he is more than his body and that he is a human too, that she cares for him so deeply and is so grateful for his help and support. And when working together causes them to awe closer... the tension becomes THICCCKKKKKKK!

I'm talking lingering gazes, flirty comments, gentle touches, soothing words, acts of service, the WORKS! VAI PUT HER WHOLE DENT-USSY into this book I'm telling you! I also love how she included some of Maya's family traditions and culture into this after getting gift know her grandparents again.

The way he remembers she likes certain gummy bears and her ridiculous lavender ice cream, or how he gets her to show him how to serve and learn some tennis lingo and their banter is so refreshing!

Maya is the girl that Cooper deserves, she makes him feel seen , heard and valued, not just for his talent in the field but because he is a genuinely kind, funny and amazing person. Maya helps shift Cooper's perspective of himself from seeing himself as this playboy, to seeing that he is worthy of love... and when they finally KISSED! I WAS JUMPING AND SCREAMING WITH JOY! The way Cooper just showed up to Maya's place because she missed him will always be one of my two favourite scenes... because number one will always be the stargazing in the back of is truck!

The teasing, the flirting, the gentle touches were SO WORTH the slow burn because the heat was PACCCKKKKIIINNGGGGG! Gosh, like I think about them often! The jealousy scenes was TOP TEIR! I am a sucker or them hehehehe. This cowboy BEGS like can he get any hotter? and Maya! That girl is a freak in the sheets and I am absolutely here for it. There both simply HAWWWTTTT! I WAS FANNING MY SELF AND KICKING MY FEET IN THE AIR!

Let's not forget the way that Colton was so freaking happy and supportive of them (he was a little mad, understandable) and just wanted the best for them! Gah! I love Colt so much! I adore Maya's relationships with her brother's, although it different for each one, she loves them endlessly and they adore her! Landon has my heart and I am a slut for him by the way...

the perfect brother's best friend, friends to lovers romance to fuel your needs for sure! This book was beautiful and raw and just so freaking good! I love them so muchhh!

Thank you to Vai for the opportunity to not only be a ARC reader but also a BETA READER for this beautiful book! I am truly so blessed to have you as a friend and to have the chance to be your cheerleader! I love you and this book so much! 🤍

Another 5⭐️ read!

Honestly obsessed with the depth of these characters. These books deserve so much more love than they have currently!

Maya has extremely complex feelings after getting injured and cannot return to her life as a pro tennis player. Devestated by her loss, she returns to her father’s empty home in LA, as tennis was her whole life (source of income, social life, etc.). Cooper, Colton (her older brother)’s friend, sees her again after almost kissing her on her birthday a few years ago, and the rest is history…

The elements of Indian heritage and culture and how it feels to be an outsider looking in, yet still embraced by those around you - so special.

Long-distance is not something I’ve ever read in a romance novel, but as someone who was in a long-distance relationship with my now husband, I am in LOVE with it. It’s so real - missing each other’s calls & video chats, especially in different time zones across the country.

The teddy bear, I - 😭😭😭😭😭

The fact that the characters become best friends. *chef’s kiss*

Vai Denton is a wizard and I cannot wait to continue reading her books 🫶🏼

Love on the Line is the second novel by author Vai Denton. This novel follows Cooper and Maya, the teammate and sister of Colton from Gridlocked on the Gridiron.

These characters were so easy to love! I fell for them quite early on, and the mutual pining was so much fun to read! I loved how the story was almost built around this almost kiss from 3 years prior to the story starting. I could feel the tension between them and was rooting for them from the beginning! I loved how the story slightly spun off from GG but still had its own vibes and distinct storyline.

I really liked how Cooper kind of inadvertently made himself the man he thought Maya deserved while convincing himself he was the wrong guy for her. I liked how he found the good parts of himself through the chaos and doubt he had in his 'pursuit' of their relationship. And I liked how Maya was strong in her convictions and let her drive navigate her life for a bit. If she had just thrown everything away for him I would have been so irritated, so I loved how their relationship worked out a lot.

Overall, I think these stories are fun to read because they are packed with heart. The characters are a great balance of strong and flawed, and I love how each of them pairs with the other. I loved the journey Cooper and Maya go on, both together and separately and I loved how they ended up together in the end. Super fun and super easy to read!

✨ARC Review✨

Another solid book from Vai!!

She has a way of writing in third person that makes me really enjoy third person. The character's thoughts are so dominate in the way she writes that you really feel like you're listening to their side of the story. It's a talent.

This story was really cute. If you don't know by now, brother's best friend has a hold on me. So naturally, I ate this up.

Maya is no longer to continue pursuing professional tennis due to an injury. Feeling lost and alone, she's stuck and feels like she has nowhere to go from here. Cooper, Maya's brother's best friend, is tired of the media portraying him as a playboy. As a professional football player, he wants to change his reputation. These two help each other create new dreams and goals for themselves all while starting to fall for each other.

Maya is a great character. Her struggles are so real and I loved seeing her growth. Between her family issues and own personal ones, she's tired. But she's so loved beyond belief. I loved seeing everyone in her corner.

Cooper is adorable. I really loved the southern charmer in him. He's protector and so caring. He's not the playboy people think he is. He's such a well mannered guy and I also loved seeing his growth.

These two had such great chemistry and I loved watching them go from friends to lovers. I loved them sneaking around and I loved when big bro Colton finds out. I loved that we get so much Colton an Lucia in this. I really also love how much Landon we get!

This story deals with mental health and family issues so well. I loved how Vai wrote these scenes.

My only negatives is at times I felt like there was a repetition of inner thoughts that the characters had. More words, less dialogue if you will. But nothing that hinges on how beautiful this was written. More personal preference than anything.

If you loved book one, you'll love this! If you love a southern man who also plays pro football, you'll love this. If you loved FMC who overcomes family and internal pressures, you'll love this!

Thank you so much to Vai Denton for the arc copy!!

[ARC Review]

This one is a solid pick if you’re looking for a heartfelt sports romance that balances emotional depth with strong character development.

In the second book of the Beaumont Legacy series, we are reintroduced to Maya and Cooper. Maya has dedicated her life to tennis until an unexpected and career-ending injury forces her to readjust. Cooper, an NFL star and known playboy, is at a similar crossroads, trying to get rid of that image and be seen for who he is. While they navigate these personal struggles, they also have to manage the visible pull between them.

This book is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. The author has a beautiful way of addressing heavy topics (TW: grief, mental health struggles, alcohol use, etc.) while not losing the light and cosy energy of the story. As with book one, I enjoyed how both protagonists grow throughout the story. Their relationship is built on mutual understanding and trust; their connection never feels forced. Maya and Cooper are at turning points in their lives, trying to figure out who they are beyond their achievements and the labels placed on them. The dynamic feels natural, with moments of great banter and emotional depth. It is just really easy to root for them.

I particularly liked how the story acknowledged that personal struggles aren’t magically fixed. Both protagonists have their own journeys, and I appreciate that the book gave them the space to navigate them. However, some conflicts felt repetitive, and I would have liked a little more exploration of specific side plots. Still, the writing is engaging, the romance makes you swoon, and the emotional beats hit just right.

While I slightly prefer the first book, this was still a strong sequel to the series, making you excited for what’s to come. This one is worth picking up if you love sports romances with well-developed characters, slow-burn chemistry, and emotional growth. 3.75 ⭐

[Thanks to the author for providing an eARC.]

P.S.: I read this one last November, but I’m behind on reviews thanks to constantly being ill. I also don’t update Goodreads that much anymore, more active on StoryGraph.

Love on the Line ARC Review

i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Love on the Line by Vai Denton. All opinions are my own and given freely. 🩵

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️/5

content warning: death of a parent (off page, prior to the start of the book), alcohol use, grief, anxiety (including on page panic attacks), stalking of a main character, explicit sexual content.

“if we were playing against each other, i’d let you score all the points so i’d always be in love.”

after reading gridlocked on the gridiron, i was so excited to read about cooper and maya!! i’m so incredibly in love with this book that it's hard to express my feelings. vai does such an incredible job tackling mental health and grief in this book. from maya’s injury rehabilitation and still dealing with her mom’s death years later, and cooper struggling with his perception of himself and the way everyone else sees him, everything was handled with so much care, it was honestly so beautiful to read! also, i absolutely adored stepping back into this world and getting those little crumbs from lucia and colton and their extended happily ever after, was so sweet! 🥰

maya and cooper have my entire heart! it was so easy to fall in love with their love. these two are just freaking sweet and gentle and kind and adorable. the way cooper was so smitten with maya from the beginning and the way maya made cooper feel seen and heard and like the most important person in the room, was everything!! they deserve each other!!

again vai did such an amazing job. everything from the main characters to the side characters and everything else in between was so beautifully written! i’m so excited to see what she does next!! once again thank you so much for giving me the chance to read love on the line early! 🩵

It was an honor being able to be an ARC reader for Vai Denton’s Love On the Line. Love On the Line is a phenomenal book about Maya who flips a career ending injury into creating and working a charity that brings tennis lessons to underprivileged children with her partner in crime, Cooper. The charity On the Line shows just how selfless Maya and Cooper are. Cooper is there the entire time helping Maya in whatever way he could to bring about the wonderful charity. Cooper and Maya have trauma from their dads/childhoods that they have in common but they overcome it together.

One of my favorite parts about the book is that Maya finally is able to get to know her Mom’s side of her family even if it was later than she would have liked. Another part that I loved so much was that Cooper always wanted to prove that he was good enough for Maya but she kept saying that he never had to prove anything to her. Maya knew he was good enough for her. This book put a lot into perspective because Maya could have just moped around and never went to physical therapy or never came up with the charity at all. With Cooper’s advice, Maya is able to create this wonderful charity that ends up helping so many people. It’s just crazy to think that instead of looking to the negative, she looked at the positive and came up with a great idea. This just reminds us that we can put anything we put our minds to.

Some of my favorite quotes include:

“Just because he has a past doesn’t mean it has to be his future.”

“You deserve the f****** world. Someday soon, I really hope you see that.”

“Just don’t feel like you shouldn’t pursue your dream because things could get messy.”

“Don’t let anyone make you feel inferior because of the choices you make about your own body.”

“There is nothing in you that makes you undeserving of love.”

Thank you so much Vai for your fantastic contribution to the romance genre as an author! ❤️

"If we were playing against each other, I'd let you score all the points so I'd always be in love."

In this second book of the Beaumont Legacy series we are following Maya - a tennis player and Coltons sister, and Cooper - a football player and best friend on Coltons team.

Maya is a tennis player on the WTA tour, however she suffers a career-ending injury so she is forced to quit playing the sport she loves. She loses her identity and her connection to her mum and starts spiraling.

Cooper is struggling with something else. He has a bad boy reputation that he can't seem to shake. However after seeing Colton and Lucia fall in love and build a live together he is set on changing his image.

Cooper helps Maya find a new purpose by setting up a foundation for underpriviledged kids to play tennis. After lots of convincing he helps her fund the foundation and she names him cofounder. Over the months they start working together on setting up 'On the line' and are spending lots of time together.

Maya never saw him as the bad boy and helps him see past the image of his reputation that he has started to believe himself. On the other side Cooper helps Maya crawl out of the dark place she was in and teaches her how she doesn't have to do everything by herself and she is not a burden to the people she loves. Can their love survive the paparazzi and long distance?

This book hit pretty close to home, since I played tennis myself. I didn't make it to the WTA but I did play D1 in college and suffered a career-ending injury as well. Even after 10 years I still struggle with the identity loss, however I found joy in playing Padel (a mix of tennis and squash) recently.

4.5 stars!
A soft, slow, beautiful read.

This is the second book in the Beaumont Legacy series, and you do not need to read in order to enjoy. But! Vai’s debut romance, Gridlocked on the Gridiron, is one of my top debut romances of the year! So you should go read it too! The series is written in 3rd Person POV.

This was quite possibly the softest brother’s best friend romance I have ever read. Cooper and Maya are both soft sunshine characters, but that have gone through difficult things. And together they work through them, and help bring each other to the other side.

A majority of this book was a long distance relationship, and I just felt it showed “if he wanted to, he would” Both Cooper and Maya show up for each other, sometimes in person, sometimes through a phone call or FaceTime. They purposefully make time for each other throughout their busy schedules and their intentional acts of service just warmed my heart.

The slowburn in this was so perfectly done. The friends to lovers buildup was 💋 chef’s kiss 💋 perfection.

Vai does such an amazing job tackling mental health rep in this book. Through Maya’s injury rehabilitation, and Cooper chaining his self perception from a playboy to so much more, it just had me in my feels the entire time.

If you love sports romance you’ll love this one, because it’s double the sports, double the fun!! (Football x tennis)

I am a Vai fan, and I can’t wait to see what she does with Landon’s book!

Wow! What a beautiful book! Full of heart and courage! Maya has the heart of a lion and the determination to conquer anything life throws at her. I especially loved the relationships she had with her older brothers, they loved their sister and made sure she knew it! Maya was playing professional tennis and unfortunately had a career ending injury that then lead to a season of depression/uncertainty. Not knowing what her next step was she turned to her bff who mentioned if she didn’t find her youth program she wouldn’t be on the tour today, cue the lightbulb in Maya’s mind. She took the heart and love she has for the sport to create a charity for youth tennis but had no funding… in comes the heartthrob brothers best friend with pockets of cash and a point to prove. Cooper’s got a past full of money, talent and ladies, ready to make some big changes he dives right in with Maya and the foundation. Throughout this story Maya and Cooper face many challenges but with friendship as the foundation of their relationships they conquer the challenges as a team and find themselves falling for each other.
I really enjoyed how they talked through their problems and didn’t run.

I LOVED Maya and Cooper 🩵

I loved that Maya and Cooper’s relationship and their personal growth. They truly brought the best out of each other. I couldn’t help but admire their fight to support one another. After everything they had been through (Maya with her confidence and injuries, and Cooper with his image and worry of whether he was “worthy”), they deserve the world! Cooper’s birthday present for Maya… “Lord, it’s me again…” moment lmao. And can we pleeease give a round of applause for Maya’s support system?!

This book was truly just so heartwarming. I am going to need everyone to tap in tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, when it’s finally released on paperback, Kindle, and Kindle Unlimited!

I was lucky to get the arc for this book and I've had a great time reading it! 💙

We follow both Maya and Cooper as they navigate their own personal issues and their relationship. I like how they started as friends and I love how down bad this man is for Maya. You're all I dream about anymore ?? 😩😩

Overall, even though it touches heavy topics such as mental health, it's not a heavy book, and seeing characters like Lucia and Colton and seeing the family work through their issues makes this story feel wholesome. That doesn't mean the characters don't struggle, because they do. Both because of their own families and internal struggles but also because for basically all the book they have to deal with long distance. But they work through those struggles and support each other inconditionally.

If you like sport romances and tropes like brother's best friend or friends to lovers you should definitely pick Love on the Line up!

Loved this! The relationship is so sweet and it touches a lot of heavy topics but they're all handled well. Cooper and Maya have some struggles, like trying to figure out a long-distance relationship, and I liked how they didn't have much internal struggles, rather external ones that they worked to solve together.

I received a free early copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I loved Love on the Line. This was a soft and heartfelt read that immediately pulled me in. Vai really delivered an emotional story that tackled a lot of real-life struggles. And she does an amazing job with the mental health rep. I was all in my feelings for every high and low Maya and Cooper experienced, and I just didn’t want to let them go.

Maya and Cooper were two kind sunshine souls that have gone through difficult things. And the way these two get together, help and support each other up is so sweet. I loved being on that journey towards healing with them and the perfectly done slow burn was not only extremely palpable but oh so worth it in the end.

The way Maya and Cooper could be themselves with each other made the blossoming of their relationship so beautiful. And there was banter and great spice balanced with angst and tension. Their build-up was exquisite. The teasing, the stolen touches, the pining and their acts of service was heartwarming and everything I wanted.

Thank you, Vai. I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with Landon!

I loved Cooper and Maya’s story! They both had struggles throughout the story but I loved seeing them lean on one another and work together to get through them! The slow burn of their relationship was done perfectly and I absolutely loved how much Cooper cared for Maya and SHOWED he cared for her the entire time! Their FaceTime calls made my day and the nickname “Sunflower”??? I was smiling from ear to ear! You’ll enjoy this one if you love:

VAI I'M SO IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK 😭💗

The way Vai wrote Maya & Cooper was perfection. As always, Vai created another masterpiece - I'm so in love with her writing 😭💗 Every time I read one of Vai's books, I feel so safe and the characters give me so much warmth and comfort that I feel like I am a part of this family and I love every one of them 🥺💗

Maya my sweet sunflower – I’m so in love with her 🥺💗 After a career-ending injury, she feels like she doesn't know what to do next, but when Cooper makes her feel comfortable and wants her to be the sunshine she is, she knows exactly what to do. She starts a charity to help less fortunate kids get the chance to play tennis, and she asks Cooper for his support. She is such an inspiration to everyone. I loved how she reconnected with her mother's family and learned more about her heritage through her grandparents and cousins. You could tell that Maya misses her mother very much 😭💗

Cooper my sweet soft cowboy – HE IS SO PERFECT 😭💗Since their almost kiss 3 years ago, Cooper couldn't stop thinking about his best friend's little sister. However, with the media portraying him, he wants to be the man Maya deserves. He wants to show the world that he can do something good - So when Maya offers him the chance to co-found her charity. And show Maya that she is the most important person in his life. When I read Cooper’s POV I started crying because he deserves the world 🥺💗

This is one of the best Friends to Lovers romances I have ever read. Both Cooper and Maya show up for each other. The fact that they always make time for each other despite their busy schedules warmed my heart. Cooper flying to LA because Maya said she misses him? Cooper is everything 😭💗

Maya and Cooper are perfect for each other 🥹 It was so adorable to watch him fall in love with her 😭💗

Vai brought out all the feelings that I loved and will cherish forever! Maya and Cooper are absolutely wonderful together 🥹💗

Thank you so much Vai for the ARC 🫶🏻💗

This was such a wholesome, heartbreaking, yet heartwarming story! Brother's best friend/teammate is one of my favorite tropes and this book did not disappoint!

Maya just as she's rising to the height of her tennis carrer has an injury that will prevent her from playing professionally ever again. Now with her loss of purpose in life, she's depressed and searching for a new purpose.

Cooper has a reputation of being a playboy football player, but lately he wants to change and he has been. He wants to show the work he's more than just his body. The pressure from his family to retire & a new contract isn't helping. Spending more time with Maya may not be the best idea right now, but he can't seem to stay away.

I just adored how these two always supported each other! Throughout tough times both were going through recently, they could always lean on each other. Both were hesitant to open to other especially Colton ( the brother/best friend), but they could always talk to each other. Maya saw beneath the playboy facade, seeing just how big if a heart Cooper had. Cooper knew Maya didn't the independence and the ability to do things on her own & respected her wishes, but still found ways to help Maya.

One aspect I loved the most was Maya having daddy issues, but it didn't effect her choice of men. Yes, it did effect her into pushing her into an extreme independent state, but she always knew her worth when it came to men.

The moments where Maya was reconnecting with her family, were definitely my favorite! Not only her brothers(especially Landon), but also her maternal grandparents and cousin! I loved that Cooper was finally able to get through to his mother that he wouldn't becoming back to their small town, I'm sure with time his father will understand him as well.

I appreciated that both MCs had issues with family, specifically fathers, and those issues weren't fully resolved. It made the story more relatable and real.

I can't wait for Landon's story as well! I really hope him & Colton will finally be able to be brothers again! The hints we got into the tennis girls and their possible stories was a nice touch as well!

I want to say thank you to Vai for the opportunity to read Love On the Line as an ARC before release! I am thankful I got the opportunity to do so and read your work! The first book is out already in this series, which I will definitely be picking up when I get the time to do so!

(This book is in third person so keep in mind when picking up, I didn’t have any issue with it because Vai wrote in third so beautifully that I enjoyed it a lot!)

Love On the Line was just so beautiful. Cooper and Maya have my heart. They deserve the world after how much the world has thrown at them. Both of their characters were easy to like and fall for, their personalities worked perfectly together, they both fit together like a puzzle piece and I ate it ALL up so quick.

Mayas was struggling with a lot of internal battles in this book, from losing her tennis career from wrist injury, still battles with mom’s passing, relationships all around, etc. I enjoyed every moment watching her character grow into the most wonderful person she already was but she couldn’t see. I loved everyone that was in her corner in this book and it just made me feel so whole, having people who will be there for you even if you don’t think you deserve it 😭

Cooper also had a lot of battles internally too, with his reputation from playing football and having this playboy image on him it took a bit of a toll on him. Especially when he knew he wanted Maya, he wanted to be sure he was worthy for her and he kept internally battling with himself as their relationship was growing. I also enjoyed watching him grow as a character too, he knew what he wanted but he didn’t want it until he felt he was good for her. He was so caring, protective, loving, and overall such a green flag.

All the side characters that were introduced too were just so lovely as well. It was overall such a lovely slow burn beautiful read and I look forward to reading more from Vai.

A bit disappointing because I really liked the first one.

There was a lot of repetitiveness. The same issues, resolved at the literal end. I was tired of hearing the same whining. They both had shitty fathers, there's baggage I get it but for some reason it just got on my nerves and I couldn't get into the story.
I didn't like how Coopers siblings (not all of them) kind of resented him for leaving and living his own life. Isn't that the point? Like, if you want to leave the town just stand up to your parents and leave. It is not your responsibility and duty to satisfy them and live your life for them. Of course you want to make them happy and proud but at some point you just gotta stop, you did everything you could, the ball is in their hands. But leaving didn't really solve his issues so what gives?
And he kept saying he didn't deserve Maya because of his reputation and blah blah blah, stop with the excuses man come on everyone saw he wasn't hooking up with people and was actually serious about her. Also she was constantly reassuring him she didn't care what the media said.
But at the same time she couldn't accept anyone's help and love. She thought she wasn't supposed to depend on people. Which is so sad, and seriously how much trauma parents give their children. Thanks to Cooper and her finally getting to know her mother's side of the family, she started to accept help and love from others.

What happened with his agent? Did he fire him, because he kept trying to push him to be a bachelor and even suggested women to hook up with and be seen in media with. Who would want an agent like that?

Colton disappointed me there for a bit. It's not like he was perfect in his book. He knew Cooper the best and still thought of him as a player?? Everything got resolved quickly tho.

I don't understand why they couldn't just talk through things before everything went downhill.

There were good parts of course, bit I just didn't care about the story. Maybe it's just not the right timing for me or something idk. Maybe I'll try again, maybe I won't.

This was so cute from the start, I was feeling all gushy reading this. Cooper and Maya were so steady and cute together, how they always reassured each other, stood beside each other. Enjoy it very much. It was amazing reading about Maya getting back on track after facing such an career sabotaging injury and the way copper helped her unknowingly was heartwarming. They both have their own issues and Also issues with their fathers but how they cope with it and come out strong and still standing with each other was remarkable. Sloan burn was full slow burn, it felt irritating sometimes bcoz he was just straight out saying her No when she was okay for more bcoz he wanted to prove to her brother and the world that he deserves her when all she wanted was him, she kept reassuring him and he still was on that same single lane, so it felt repetitive to me. The issue with cooper’s Image was becoming too underwhelming by the end Bcoz the same things were coming up again and again with same lines and issues. Maya’s struggle with her father and mom’s death was heartbreaking. I know how it feels like to be the ignored and unwanted child who grows up to be so self independent that now a little bit care from other person feels like too much and overwhelming. Makes you feel pressured and guilty that you are talking too much of their time or money. Very much relatable. Adored her. Overall I loved the book and I would love to read more books in this series🫶🏻 Also I was going through very bad phase of reader slump and I think that might have affected my reading experience too so maybe I will pick it up again and see if it might change my rating ✨✨

I very much enjoyed reading Love on The Line by Vai! You dont often see stories about tennis players so this was a great read for a different sport! It was very empowering to read about Maya as a character. All the things she was going through, all the issues she faced and most of all, Coopers love for her. It was beautiful to see. Maya is such a relatable character. As an athlete it was a different perspective to see how she coped with the issues and barriers in her life. We dont often see that perspective so it was refreshing to see her go through the motions of life.

I loved the sense of family from her brothers, her friends and Cooper. Sometimes it’s hard to accept love from others, but they still give it anyway. This story really pressed upon that and it made me feel so loved. I also just felt a sense of joy reading this book that if you put in the work to do great things, people will see it.

I loved Cooper. He really is the sweetest and I felt so sorry for him being pigeoned holed into this person based on media and his manager (I hope his manager steps on a lego). I really could not stand the fact that he kept being portrayed as this playboy and his manager was apart of it. (Such a twist btw) I was ready to scream on his behalf. And give him so much love because he deserved it. I loved that he was still true to his cowboy roots as well and how he showed Maya that side of him.

I really loved the concept of this book and loved the idea of the charity. I feel like we don’t give athletes the credit that they deserve for putting themselves out there. This book really showed that.

Thank you Vai for this lovely read! I can’t wait to read the next book!

Books like this remind me why I love reading romance. This is the second book in the Beaumont Legacy series and we follow Maya and Cooper as they navigate their own individual personal struggles while trying to manage the inescapable pull they have toward each other.

Both are professional athletes, but after a career-ending wrist injury, Maya is forced to find her purpose in other ways. Meanwhile, Cooper, known publicly for being an NFL star and the team’s resident playboy, is ready to shed that image and be seen for who he really is. The two decide to work on something meaningful for them both and form a close friendship in the process, but have to come face to face with multiple obstacles when they want to take their relationship further.

This book is so full of heart and, while there were really heavy topics addressed (grief, mental health, self worth, and others), it still felt cozy. Our characters communicated with each other well and were well-intentioned throughout. I loved getting to watch their relationship evolve and seeing them be stable ground for one another and try their best to be what the other person needed.

Aside from that, there’s so much individual growth! Their individual baggage was laid out so well and made it easy to empathize with them throughout. Maya was an extremely relatable character and seeing her find a safe place in Cooper made my heart so happy.

I definitely recommend this one to anyone looking for a new couple to live rent-free in their head. Looking forward to Landon’s story!

Thank you to Vai Denton for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this book!
