Join Stormy, Hunter, and the whole crazy crew as more trouble hits Shadow Hills.
Stormy Morgan should be on top of the world. She’s engaged, about to move into her dreamhouse, and her magic is stabilizing. In fact, she’s becoming one heckuva witch. Too bad trouble keeps finding her. This time it comes in the form of a gang of kids who appear to be stealing cars from various townsfolk. It’s become a big enough issue that everybody in town is becoming unnerved, paranoid even. Their solution is to form a Neighborhood Watch, which should be okay in theory. Unfortunately, the reality is anything but. Stormy’s dreams are being plagued by threatening shadows, to the point where she thinks she’s being watched. On top of that, there’s something odd going on with the mayor and his wife, which just might involve one of Stormy’s cousins. That would be enough to keep Stormy busy, but there’s more. The residents are acting odd. They’re not just fighting crime, they’re treating it as if it’s life or death. They’re getting aggressive, and everybody is in danger. That’s everybody. Stormy doesn’t know where to start. Is she dealing with one problem or multiple problems? She’s going to need help to get to the bottom of things. Even her powerful allies might not be enough to save the town. Shadow Hills is home but suddenly it feels like a different place. Will Stormy be able to save Shadow Hills—and everybody who lives there—before it’s too late? Strap in. You’re about to find out.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
This book was a great read to finish off the books Amanda released this year. The writing took me back to the style of the Covenant College series. Characters were strong. Banter was good but not over the top. Plot was a bit twisty and a surprise at the end. This book re engaged me in Amanda’s series!
Amazon won't let me give half a star. This book is never about this girl and her powers. She always runs to others for help at the drop of a hat. Heck, 3 teenagers make her into a dam fool. This is book 10 and the girl don't have the hang of her powers or her life for that matter. It's the same dam thing only with different villains. If it didn't bother me so much I would stop reading this series cause it's stupid.
There’s a lot more to being a witch than just fire…
Every few pages I want to jump into the book and scream to Stormy, Bay, Tillie and all the witches who the three culprits are. Don’t ignore your zings and intuition, Stormy. When something feels weird and you feel its potential magic, then that’s exactly what it is. Argh. It’s so frustrating. It’s the same thing I feel when watching movies.
Beyond that, that’s exactly what makes me continue reading this book with hardly any breaks in between - waiting for Stormy and everyone “good” to figure everything out. I also wonder what the car thieves end game is (I’m currently on page 141, so I’m at the point I don’t know the ending yet).
Lisa, Linc, Dennis, Emily, Debbie, and Carlie as well as a few others are complete and utter tools. I’ll admit Stormy is acting like a tool too. Why is she so upset about Linc cheating? Why is she so upset at Lisa stealing her best friend’s husband? Like, I completely understand how wrong it is what they’re doing and it’d anger me also, but that doesn’t mean I butt into their business and confront them and just hold onto the hate and bitterness.
Stormy had enough problems of her own. Maybe hanging onto other peoples makes her feel normal because the other peoples problems aren’t magical. I dunno.
Oh hey, I think I forgot to mention in my last review for the book prior to this one that the Winchesters’ (Bay, Aunt Tillie, Winnie, etc.) from Hemlock Cove (one town over from Shadow Hills where Stormy lives) were in it. They’re in this book also. They sometimes help Stormy with her magical problems. That Aunt Tillie is a riot and a lot like Stormy’s grandpa - both loud and both prone to exaggeration.
By the way, if you like this series - and I assume you do if you’re already to this book - if you haven’t read the series with Bay and Aunt Tillie, make sure you do. It’s better than this one and that may be because there are way more witches and therefore more magic involved. That series is the Wicked Witches of the Midwest. Read it!
Book 1 of Wicked Witches of the Midwest is “Any Witch Way You Can” and like I said… that series is much better than this one.
That brings me to thinking of another awesome witch series by Amanda M. Lee - the Covenant College Trilogy. That 3-part series with a witch just starting in college, named Zoe (she’s actually not a witch. I won’t give it away what she is.) is even better than the Midwest one. That first book is “Covenant College.” After you’ve read that series, there are three books after the “Covenant College” series that are about Zoe and Aric’s life…together…5 years after she graduates. It’s called “Living Covenant” (The Complete Trilogy). And finally, the third series that includes Zoe is the “Dying Covenant” series which has three books.
I’ve found that all of Amanda M. Lee’s witch series books all inter-lap with one another in some way. In what way? Well, the witches all meet each other in some way or another. I think in this particular series with Stormy, Zoe from the Covenant Trilogy is mentioned. Bay from the Midwest definitely is, as I mentioned above. Maybe when looking up all of these series, just search Amanda M. Lee books in chronological order.
My next book is “Peppermint Bark & Peril” by Cindy Bell.
See you in my next review. Deuces to your cabooses! ~ themoodyredhead ✨👩🏻🦰✨
I love Grandpa,.he's almost as funny as Aunt Tillie, (who in my mind will never be bested) his grouchy demeanour and eccentric ways I find so loveable, I envy Stormy. Stormy and Hunter are enjoying some quiet time, Easton is gone a lot searching for his brother Weston so they have privacy for a change. That ends when locals.start complaining about their cars being stolen, not just one or two but care getting taken day and night. The townspeople are ruled up.about it and under the guidance of the Mayor organise a neighbourhood watch. Stormy's Grandad is all for this.especially when his truck is.one of the.vehicles stolen. But Stormy is uneasy she feels.thing are going to get out of.control and worries why may happen if the.vigilantes actually catch a thief. Then there's the dreams she's been having, disturbing dreams where strange voids 're warning her to get out of town.................... Luckily she be the Winchesters and Scout Randall always available to help..............

I really enjoyed this book. I love Stormy, Hunter and the rest of the crew, yet while uncovering the identity of the antagonist I felt that the payoff didn’t meet my expectations. It was just a meh confrontation, which was a bit of a letdown. However, we got a great hook at the end, AND we have yet to see Grandpa after the shenanigans of the police station interlude. So while not the best resolution to the primary mystery, I am looking forward to the fallout 😈
This was a fast past Stormy and Hunter story that includes the rest of the crew that we love. In this book we uncovered the identity of an antagonist that had ulterior motives for his crime ring. Why is it always teenagers? I loved how Stormy, Bay, Tilly, Evan, Easton, Sebastian, Scout, Gunner, Landon, Hunter, and Chief Terry always work together so seamlessly. There were a few holes and questions in this story but I can't wait to see their answer in the next adventure.
They don't all have to be epic. To those in them, they're important. It's better when no one gets seriously hurt. Is it better to pretend afterwards that it never happened? That probably depends on whether people learned from the experience. We'll see. It's not comfortable to think that normal people can become a dangerous mob with a bit of manipulation.
Why is it always teenagers? Wow! The stories in this book are all over the place. We have adultery, cult like behavior, and unruly teenagers. Oh and we can't forget a unruly advanced in her age witch(Aunt Tillie) that lady. I love when they all come together to help eachother. On to the next adventure!💙😉💚
Really enjoyed this. I love when the Winchesters team up with Stormy and it’s always a bonus when Scout and Gunner appear too. This one gripped me from the start and although I’d guessed who the bad witches were I still thoroughly enjoyed the story. Highly recommend this series if you like the Midwest Witches books.
This series started out really great but it's really gone off the rails. The dialog has gotten way too cheesy, the mysteries have really lost their allure and the authors attempts at including the relationships of Easton and Sebastian are way too pushed. I really didn't enjoy this one at all. The first 3-4 are the best ones in this series in my opinion.
This is such a great story, I can't imagine what it takes to write a book, but, I can see all the effort put into this. A lot if the best side kicks are back and the story is so good, just loved it.
I love Ms. Lee's stories! Out of all the different books I read she is my favorite author. She has a fun sense of humor that she writes interesting mysteries around. You won't be sorry to buy any of her books.
I always enjoy Stormy and Hunter plus the bonus of the Winchesters and Scout’s crew. This is an interesting story and I enjoyed how Stormy is learning new things. I kind of expected the twist at the end. Will be interesting to see where it goes.
Car thefts and people acting strangely. What's happening? Stormy and Hunter have their hands full solving this mystery. Magic, humor and great characters. No cliffhanger and hea. Great series.
As always, I loved the story and hope the series keeps growing! I feel like the whole character list are friends and I can't wait to see what trouble I am going to get into with Stormy, Hunter,Sebastion and the Winchester crew esp Aunt Tillie.
It all started when someone stole a vehicle. After that, people started to act crazy and demand a community watch. Is this a good thing, or is there something more? This book is for sure going to make you laugh, so don't read it in a quiet place.
This was an interesting story. I like how the story includes characters from the other series and how they work together. It would be nice if Stormy wasn’t so inept with using magic. The story is more about her relationships than the mystery.
This series has been captivating, funny and all around entertaining. Not surprising considering the author. Amanda M. Lee your talent is truly amazing. Please keep them coming.
Shadow hills has been put under a spell, and a car theft ring is working all over the town and others. Can Hunter and Stormy solve it all before the town tears each other apart.?
This book is full of surprises. Cheating spouses, unplanned pregnancies, town gone mad and crazy relatives. The characters evolve with such skill, it's no wonder why the author is as popular as she is.
Strange things are happening in town and Stormy is getting some weird vibes. A string of car thefts sets off a chain over reaction by the town. Magic is somehow connected but even with her friends help they have trouble seeing the big picture.
If u haven't read this series from the beginning go on go!
I've read every connected series including this one and I absolutely love everyone of them it has everything magic mystery love laughter friendships and family and with fantastic characters can't wait for the next !
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was funny and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
These books have a lot of ratings for an indie author! I guess that means they're popular. I actually thought this book was a step up from the last several. I've been hooked on these books for years now, and I don't plan on quitting them.
4.5 I have to say I really liked this series. These books are really funny. I am sad that I am on the last book I can get on Audible. I am really liking the narrator she does really good job of read the stories.
I enjoyed the story and meeting up with Scout, Bay and Tillie didn’t hurt my fun reading this book either. It’s just as good as I expected and I liked it. The series is not quite on the top of my list, but in the upper ranks for sure. 5 stars.
