If you don’t have anything nice to say…

LA Holmes has never had anything nice to say and he’s not starting now.

He’s fought tooth and nail to get where he is and he’s not about to change his wicked ways just because things have gotten a little complicated. It doesn’t matter if his body is a wreck, his career has imploded, or that his love life is in complete shambles. He is not going to give up. He is not going to quit fighting. He is not going to show any weakness…

Except for that random visit to a magic shop when he was feeling a tiny bit desperate, but reallywhat was the worst that could happen?

A magical monster being bound to him for eternity, that’s what.

LA is now stuck with Cass, a snarky gentle giant of a beast who is supposed to be the answer to his problems. All Cass wants to do, however, is cuddle and bake cakes and talk about feelings. His ideas are ridiculous and frustrating, and LA refuses to listen to his stupid plans. LA can’t let himself be distracted by a handsome monster when he has so much at stake and letting his guard down could cost him everything…

Cass promises LA a lifetime of happiness if he’s willing to give in, but can LA find the strength to surrender?

By Rude Strength is a standalone MM romance novel as part of the multi-author collaboration Tales from the Tarot. This book is based on the major arcana card Strength.

3/5 – Cassander Duckey, nicknames Cass, Cassie, he, imp, ? yo, happy cupcake

I really liked the MCs, and the book had an excellent moral message.

What LA suffered at the hands of his supposed family and former boyfriend was completely unnecessary and downright cruel. Unfortunately, we sometimes don’t recognize toxic relationships (whether platonic or romantic) until we hit rock bottom, as was the case with LA.

Thankfully, he had the best support in Cassander, who help him see things clearly, reflect on his life and future, and work on how he should treat others and himself, given the anger issues he struggled with.

Before Cassander entered LA’s life, he had a dark cloud hanging over him. But with Cass’s help, incredible patience (what a saint he is!), and his happy and optimistic spirit (despite LA’s grumpy protests), LA slowly allowed himself to heal.
Despite the chronic pain that will always be part of his life, LA is now ready to accept things as they are and make new plans that align with both his physical condition and his personal passions, his career and love life.

Their ever-growing chemistry was adorable…two blushing fools.
They bonded over movie marathons, ogling their shared obsession with Alan Tudyk, and baking delicious sweets (more Cass baking, with 😏 LA admiring and distracting him). The baking left the kitchen a mess, but Cass had some magical tricks up his sleeve to fix that… my cheeky IMP!

Cassie, my big, fluffy, caring, sweet, adorable IMP… so precious. 😍
You’re the best! My favorite parts of the book were when Cass was happy (which was nearly all the time!).
When he was happy, bubbles would appear around him, and sometimes he’d even make confetti burst from his hands when he is excited! It was so adorable and funny.

Oh, and I really love how the author describes LA’s painting and how he uses self-portraits as a way to vent and as a form of therapy. The descriptions were so interesting!

I just have to say my only vice with this story is that it’s a Slow Burn.
While I did enjoy the story, a lot… I'm not really a fan of Slow Burns, which is why I’d rate it a 3.5 however I rounded it up to 4 stars.

”Cass smiled sweetly and pressed a soft kiss to LA’s lips. “And that’s all I would ever ask of you, sweetheart. We’re on this journey together now.”
“Thank you.” LA petted Cass’s face. “You saved me, you know.”
Cass shook his head. “No, Elly. I just showed you the way. You saved you.”

Side Characters: 4/5

There isn't much to say about the SC, except that LA's mother and brother were terrible, and Gavin, his ex-boyfriend, was just as bad.
They were written really well, though, don’t get me wrong!
LA could use some better family and boyfriends. Thank Glob Cassander helps him see that and is always there for him through every challenge he faces!

Brandon and his fiancé, Kevin, are the only SD who are real friends to LA. They offer him the kind of honest and healthy friendship he’s been missing. Although LA had cut Brandon out of his life because of Gavin’s manipulative influence, Brandon doesn't hold it against him and welcomes him back with open arms.

Cass squeaked and then glanced at the picture of Alan Tudyk staring up at him. He turned it over. “Shhh, don’t look, Alan. He’s mine.”
LA laughed, looking back at Cass over his shoulder. “Hey, he can look if he wants!”
“Nuh-uh.” Cass giggled as he pressed in behind LA and slid his paws over LA’s hips. “My boyfriend. He can go get his own.”

!! I don't equate fiction stories to real life. It's a matter of personal taste and what you are willing or want to tolerate in the books you read. We all have different opinions and preferences when it comes to the kind of books we enjoy, so it's important to respect and remember that it's just a book!!

Such a cute book with a profound message! Filled with fluffy moments.
Cass is the sweetest and the cutest!
Elly 🤭 or LA is a grumpy teddy bear, who's been through a lot...
There were also many funny moments!

》LA's POV: “Kinda wish I’d found you a long time ago. Maybe save myself a lot of heartache and bullshit.”
Cass opened his mouth to speak but then closed it. “What? Resisting the urge to rant?”
Cass grinned.
LA sighed dramatically. “Go ahead.”
“I was only going to say that timing is vital for healing."《

4⭐️ 2🌶️
MOOD: adventurous, hopeful, sad, tense
TROPES: friends to lovers, grumpy/sunshine
GENRES: fantasy, monster - romance

MAIN CHARACTERS: Lawrence "LA" Holmes and Cassander "Cas" Ducky
TAROT CARD: Strength

THE GOOD: This is definitely a cozy monster romance and I enjoyed every minute of it. It does deal with some toxic people and relationships so be aware of that but it works with both the characters and the plot. If you were also disappointed when the Beast turned into Prince Adam then you'll probably like Cass too.
THE MEH: Since the plot revolves around LA getting his inner strength back, the Tarot card works but I'm finding that the further I get into the series the less the connections between the cards make sense. Maybe it's just because The Cleric of Desire card connection made so much sense to me that a lot of the others feel lackluster.

CW: emotional abuse, sexual content
DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy. This is my honest review.

4.5 stars. LA had one of the most awful days imaginable, and though he was a particularly awful character, it was really quite understandable. Suddenly meeting imp Cass, the biggest sunshine character ever, begins to change his life for the better in lots of ways. Cass was so good for LA, who had never realised how his whole life was influenced by so many toxic people. I'll admit I did struggle a bit reading LA as a name, my brain kept filling in the city with the same letters...That healing and improving was still hard and not likely to be completed soon was a good message. Great story all round and fitted perfectly with the tarot card.

I started reading the first chapter before bed, stopped because I knew I'd be up all night. This waas fun and sweet. LA started off a cactus. Given the pain, his abusive ex and mother, made sense. I did like that his friends hadn't given up on him. Bit of fooling around, but for the most part slow on the smut until the epilogue. The rest was LA getting Cass life coaching, cake and a shared obsession with Alan Tudyk. I googled who that was. The paint in fur made me cringe. This one was adorable.

Wow, this was delightful! One of the sweetest, most unique romances I’ve read this year. LA and his imp Cass, have the loveliest, most healing, and hopeful story to share. Watching the change in LA over the course of the book was pretty special and Cass is undoubtedly a new favorite character of mine- thoroughly original and wonderful! Loved it a bunch.

wonderful storytelling

Rating: 4.5🌈

“This book is based on the major arcana card Strength.”

By Rude Strength by K. L. Hiers is a terrific read. One of the 22 novels in the multi-author series, Tales from the Tarot, Hiers gives us a young man whose world has fallen apart in one day.

When we begin the story and meet LA Holmes, he’s being fired from a job he’s loved and held for 10 years. It quickly becomes apparent that he’s been working in a toxic environment, and while he’s in anguish over his job, it’s a good thing for him he’s leaving. Then it’s another loss or crushing toxic element of his life after another just piling up on top of him. From being dumped to a narcissist mother’s call, LA’s having the worst day of his life.

Hier’s narrative is so realistic and LA’s situations so relatable that it might be triggering for some. Especially the narcissist mother who refuses to listen and the ex whose behaviors are tagged with red flags.

But The Magic Shop, The Owner, and a positively remarkable imp, Cassie, help LA recover his strength and inner resolve.

Cassie is a marvelous character, gentle, kind, and genuine in how they show LA there’s a different path for LA to take in his life, his relationships , his job, his outlook. And together they build something wonderful.

Hier tackles sensitive topics within the storyline but it’s done with a compassionate approach, using Cassie as the voice of reason and thoughtful dialogue. It works and gives Cassie just another layer of credibility and depth to their personality.

I loved the book and characters and would love to see Hier bring the other imps back into their roles in future stories.

Highly recommended.

Love these covers.

Surprisingly moving whilst cozy!

I have to say I was not expecting this to be as emotionally powerful as it was. LA’s life is crumbling around him and, like many people in seeming unending pain, he lashes out at everyone around him. Like real life, some deserve his anger, others don’t. LA was one of those characters who are likeable almost because they are unlikeable - if that makes sense. The parts of him that make him unlikable are what make him human; he’s imperfect and having been dealt an awful hand in life is fighting to stay above water and sometimes taking casualties. But he’s not bad - he’s not a caricature of a villain or an inherently bad person. He just doesn’t know how to find a way out. That’s where Cass steps in. What I absolutely loved about Cass was that he wasn’t there to fix LA or magically make everything better (though confetti is awesome so, maybe there was a bit of magic happiness lol). He helped LA see that there was a different approach and that bad things can sometimes be reframed to be, not a positive per se but a neutral, a way towards stepping in a different better direction than you were going before. It’s not about magically becoming perfect or healing a life time of wounds overnight or the people around suddenly being kind and good. Cass helped LA see that part of being strong is also seeing when fighting tooth and nail isn’t winning, it’s just slowly killing you. I loved the moments between Cass and LA; there were funny, sweet, intense, steamy moments throughout and they gave a realness to a relationship between an imp and a human that you honestly wouldn’t expect. My absolute stand out favourite thing about this book though was that it ended on a note of not everything is perfect and there’s a way to go, but things are better than yesterday and they’ll be even better still tomorrow. It just felt hopeful and more so than a picture perfect ending would have felt. I guess it just felt truly genuine. This’ll definitely be a reread for me.

By Rude Strength is the 9th book in the 22 book multi-author series Tales The Tarot and it serves to represent the Strength card from the Major Arcana. When facing upright the card is an indicator of bravery, compassion, focus and inner strength. However, when it is reversed it indicates self doubt, weakness, and insecurity. Both characters within this book have qualities from both the uprise and reversed position of the card.

LA is struggling in all areas of his life, he lost his job, his relationship has ended, his relationship with his family is complicated, and his disposition is not that sunny. He is stubborn, stuck in his ways, and is determined to have things the way they were before it when down in flames or self destruct while trying. LA is in dire need of a new outlook on life and the change to regain his sense of self, and who better to help with that than Case the Imp who is literally the embodiment of sunshine and compassion. Cass is kind and caring, and he handles the LA’s outburst with grace and care. Case provides LA with the unconditional love and support system that he has been missing his whole life, giving LA the ability to be brave, take chances, and heal from his past traumas.

LA is a good representation of the saying “hurt people hurt people”, he is angry and lashes out, and finds way to justify the ay that he treats others. Through the book he makes amazing character growth, with would not be possible without Cass bring him a new perspective and being patient with him. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two. I really enjoyed the evolution of LA, and I am glad that K.L Hiers did not make it an automatic change in personality and did an excellent job showing how we are always works in progress and it takes time to overcome the darkness in our lives. This is definitely worth the read!

This is my second book by this author and I thought it was overall a cute, enjoyable read.

LA is having the worst day of his life, which is saying something because his life has been no bed of rainbows. On top of daily debilitating pain from a back injury, everything that could go wrong, does. On a whim, he enters a magic shop where he encounters the character that links all the stories in this series, the Owner. At the shop, he picks up an item that turns out to be much more than he bargained for.

The item LA bought from the shop was a vessel for an imp named Cass, a monster with a sunshine personality set on helping LA put his life to rights.

LA and Cass are the prime example of grumpy vs sunshine. They are total opposites. At first, I struggled to like LA because he could be downright mean. As the story progressed, I began to connect with LA more as I understood what all he had been through. It doesn't excuse his behavior, but it makes it understandable.

Cass was adorable and funny. He was kind and had a soft touch without letting LA off the hook for his behavior. He really brought out a softer side in LA while at the same time giving him the confidence to be the person he wants to be and learn to love himself. It's a journey, not a sprint, so things aren't perfect overnight, but Cass could have a successful career as a life coach for sure!

The romance between LA and Cass felt a bit like a rebound at first, but progressed into something sweet and beautiful. In terms of plot, it isn't a super exciting story. There aren't many big events that happen. It's really just a sweet romance alongside a story of a man being shown genuine love for the first time and learning to open himself up to a life he deserves.

I received a free copy of this book and this is my unbiased review.

Elly & Cassie Love Alan Tudyk!

My goodness! I love Cass & LA! This book is hilarious while also covering very serious issues about toxic relationships. Considering I'm personally dealing with a similar issue in my life right now (husband, but not mother), this story really hit home. Unfortunately, I don't have a Cass of my own to help me through it all. 💔

I just loved how they weathered through all of LA's problems/dilemmas together, and Cass kept LA centered and calm so that he didn't say things he didn't really mean in the heat of the moment. There are still some things to work on by the end of the book, but Cass & LA's journey together overcame most everything because it was profound, inspirational and beautiful.

By Rude Strength encompasses the inner struggle to overcome toxic situations and understand that you're still worth knowing and loving beyond those battles whether or not you believe you succeeded.

The included pop-culture references were a blast as well. As an Alan Tudyk fan myself, I knew each and every one of the movies mentioned, and it was great fun! ❤️

This is my first adventure with K.L. Hiers, but I know I won't be sorry to dive into more of their stories!

LA and Cass is the epitome of Grumpy/Sunshine. LA has had a rough time lately, the job he's had for the past decade fired him, his boyfriend of two years broke up with him, and his car has a flat tire. Things just aren't going well for the man. Then he sees a pretty red bottle in The Magic Shop and thought it would add pizzazz to his bedroom... However, upon returning home the bottle vanishes and in it's place is Cass.

I enjoyed reading this story, the banter between Cass and LA was quite funny at times. Their dialogue was entertaining and engaging to read, and their chemistry together was electric! I appreciated how these two didn't completely rush into anything, they took it slow (ish) and gave each other time to grow deeper feelings and form a stronger connection before they did anything else. I liked that a lot.

At first I wasn't a fan of LA's character, he was brash, harsh, rude, and at times self centered. However, throughout the story I got to better understand his character and why certain things set him off the way they did. It's not an excuse for his behavior, which he did end up acknowledging himself, but knowing why he lashed out in regards to certain things helped me understand him better. Over time we got to see his character grow with Cass's encouragement and support. I loved the relationship those two have together.

While LA is still very much a grump, he softened more and more towards Cass as the story went on. Overall I thought this was a good story with interesting characters, and a great story line!!

Ah yes, monster fucking.

Jokes aside though (altho I'm also serious), this was interesting.
I thought the use of the Strength arcana was really interesting here. It was a good representation of both the upright and the reverse.

LA is a grumpy asshole. I love it. I thought it was absolutely hilarious. He's rude and mean, however he lashes out so he can't be hurt. However, the book never makes excuses for him. It's not accepted that him being horrible is okay because he's hurt.
I love though that he never stops really being a grumpy asshole. He's just better about it.

Cass was not what I expected. The Beast but if he was flamboyant and thoughtful. He was honestly a bit much for me but it's hard not love him. He's very patient and understanding with LA the entire time. He really does just want the best for him and encourages him every step of the way. Yet he will call out LA's bullshit every time.

I love Grumpy x Sunshine dynamic lol.

The ending of the book really wrapped up in a nice neat little bow. A little idealistic for my standards but I love HEA so it's really whatever.

Btw, I don't know if giving each other handies is considered slow but to each their own. Also LA is definitely a furry lmfao.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one based on the card, but it definitely wasn't this (but in a good way!). I really enjoyed this book. There were a few things in this book that really resonated with me, namely the chronic pain and the narcissistic mother figure. Living with chronic pain is something I've dealt with for most of my life and the portrayal of the struggles one would face while dealing with chronic pain were spot on. The limitations to movement, the constant recalibration of your body, and the numerous pills just to temporarily improve your quality of life are a daily issue.
I liked that this book didn't have a lot of angst, but the angst it did have was focused mostly on LA's family problems. LA's mom was a real piece of work and reminded me a bit of mine. The author really made a point to use Cass as a tool for LA to channel his inner strength through with positive reinforcement of LA's choices, setting up appropriate boundaries, and allowing LA to see where he was lacking in life before Cass. Getting out of toxic situations, especially if you're stuck in your comfort zone and dislike change, can be hard to deal with. I think the author did a great job of showing that inner struggle.
Overall I enjoyed this! Looking forward to a few more in this series.

This book is part of the multi-author Tales from the Tarot series and it is absolutely wonderful. This is a fairly new to me author and boy have I been missing out. The book is very well written and easy to read. This is the story of LA and Cass. LA has had his life turned upside down. After a workplace injury, he is let go from the mortuary where he works. His boyfriend dumps him. HIs mother runs over him like a steamroller. He is also very resistant to change. LA's attitude and outlook is grumpy and unhappy because that is what he has been taught is all that he deserves. Thankfully the magic shop is about to give his a push in the right direction. Cass is an imp who is friendly, happy and upbeat. Pretty much the polar opposite of LA. He has taken on the challenge to stay with LA until he rebuilds his inner strength. Good thing Cass is not in a hurry. I really loved this book. The two personalities offset each other perfectly. It was nice to see LA slowly gain back his confidence and strength. It was even better when he starts to remove all the toxic people and situations from his life. This is their story. I really enjoyed it.

So LA's life is imploding with one disaster after another. When his day ends with a flat tire he ends up in the Magic Shop. Not at all what he was expecting, he ends up leaving with a colorful bottle to decorate his bedside table. When he gets home the bottle is empty and there's an Imp in his house.

Cassander's job is to help humans become better. He's there to help LA get his life in order. He helps him out when he just wants everything to go back to what it was. Cass is there to help LA realize that his life before wasn't very good and it can be so much more.

These two have very good chemistry. At the beginning there's some snarky banter that had me LOL and it pretty fast turns into helpful, understanding conversation. Cass helps LA stand up for what is best for him and not allowing others to treat him poorly, thus bringing out all of LA's bad points. I liked that Brandon and Kevin welcomed LA back without making him feel bad. That showed LA that they were real friends. I was disappointed that LA's family were who they were but as Cass said, you can't fix everyone. Definitely worth the read.

Cass and LA’s story was said entirely from LA's perspective and had a desolate beginning as he’s thrown from toxic situation to toxic situation until a glimmer of hope takes roots.
Their first encounter was unexpected and the journey a tedious one, but slowly a change happens and things form a new light.
I liked Cass personality of fluff and optimism and the influence he has in changing for the better LA's life, the pillar and support he needs as he gets out of every toxic situation and toxic persons from his life.
I adored their moments together, their chemistry and dynamics as well their relationship blooms and evolves.
He discovers the better part of himself, starts reconnecting with his friends and makes new connections that changes his future permanently, and also gets to accept his worth and cares for his wellbeing.
The fluffy and sweet moments balances the hard and emotional ones when the toxic part tries to take over. He finds he's inner strength to choose what's best for him with help and support of the ones who really cares about him.

By Rude Strength was a very unusual book. Imagine you've hit rock bottom and are being followed around by a giant, winged, furry imaginary friend/therapist. Except the monster is real. That's what LA is going through.

My feelings toward LA are complicated. He has a major anger issue which he isn't shy about letting out at the beginning of the book. With how the character worked through some self-control issues with Cass I was able to get past that. It isn't as if he doesn't have very real legitimate reasons to feel angry. But as Cass points out to him, that doesn't give him an excuse to be cruel to the people around him.

Other heavy issues they deal with in this book are chronic pain and toxic relationships. This could make the book pretty dark. But Cass and LA's relationship keeps things warm and even funny in between all of the therapy.

Also there are lighthearted moments with bubbles, cake and Alan Tudyk. Overall I really enjoyed this book.

“By Rude Strength” completely blew me away! LA Holmes is the definition of a grump, and I loved every moment of his fierce, no-nonsense attitude. He’s been through the wringer—his career is in ruins, his body’s barely holding up, and his love life is a disaster—but LA refuses to quit or show any weakness. He’s such a tough, hardened character, and I found myself rooting for him from the very beginning.

Then Cass comes along, and everything changes. A gentle giant of a magical monster who loves to bake cakes and talk about feelings? The dynamic between LA and Cass is hilarious and so endearing. LA is dead set on resisting Cass’s warmth and ridiculous ideas, but Cass has this quiet persistence that slowly chips away at LA’s walls. Their banter is sharp and funny, with just the right touch of tenderness.

What I loved most was the balance between humor, romance, and real emotional growth. LA’s journey toward opening up and learning to trust is beautifully written, and Cass’s unwavering patience makes their relationship feel genuinely heartwarming. Also, the love for Alan Tudyk in this book gives him the credit he deserves!! 😃

LA is having the worst day, in his not so great life...Fired from his job. Dumped by his boyfriend. Harangued by his mother to attend his bro's wedding to his childhood bully. Oh, and now he's got a flat tire and has to walk home, in pain, past this super random Magic Shop! Next thing he knows, there's a freakin' monster in his kitchen!

I think this is the coziest story from KL that I've read. LA, is a grump with chronic pain and self image issues and Cass is a confetti tossing (not a euphemism) , supportive, kind, rainbow ray of sunshine! Cass is a delight from page one and seeing the dynamic between them develop is very sweet and relatable too. Cass might be magical, but he's not out here just 'fixing' LA. He's helping LA discover he's had the tools and strength all along!

I thought it was adorable, heartwarming, and I just want a cuddle from Cass!

I am in love with Cass. He was so fricking adorable. Told in LA’s point of view, the story starts with him being fired from his position as an embalmer at a funeral parlour. As the day progresses, his boyfriend of 2 years breaks up with him and he gets a flat tire. Along the way home, he stops off at the magic shop and finds a red bottle to put on his nightstand. When he gets home, he puts it down and then gets scared as there is a monster in his place and promptly faints. When he comes to, Cass explains why he is there. This started the story of how Cass helped LA find his inner strength and to move on from the people in his life who bring him down. Love the world building with great heat and chemistry. Cannot wait to read more from this author.

Thanks for the ARC, I voluntarily give it an honest review. I just feel in love with Cass right off and Oh shame on me! what has amount to LA,s worse day, I'm over here cackling like a loon at the screaming reaction.
It's takes a special kind of blindness, because wow! Between the humans in his life it's not a wonder the man is a bundle of truffles of grump.

LA may have unknowingly be drawn tohe the little glass bottle but with the cryptic Owner had given him
Cass an IMP-ressive strength and sweetness that is just the right mix, that LA gruf exterior didn't even know he was missing from life. I mean how can anyone stay grumpy guys when that beautiful beast is literally walking bubble personality.

“He had a cake to bake with a giant fluffy monster. Who had a really nice smile and strong paw…”

First off I want to say that Cass is just the best thing ever. How someone can stay so positive all the time is beyond me, but he was adorable with his confetti and bubbles.

LA was the complete opposite. After is entire life got turned upside down, I think it was fair that he wasn’t feeling his best. But it was so cute to watch his growth and watch how much Cass was able to help him grow and move forward.

They were the perfect opposites attract situation. With a splash of beauty and the beast, before beast got turned back to a human.

I appreciated the chronic pain aspect, and how it was depicted through LA, and how to be a helpful and encouraging partner through Cass.

I really enjoyed this one it was adorable.

Amazing

L.A.'s life has been on a downward spiral for a while now.
He's lost his job, has a nasty ex and an overbearing mother he can't seem to stand up to.
Knowing that, it's really not that hard to see why he would seek out a magic shop for some help.
Except things don't go according to plan, and instead of a ferocious beast to protect him, he ends up with a sweet imp named Cass.
Cass has all kinds of ideas about kindness, cuddling, and talking about feelings!!!
Ewww, L.A. wants nothing to do with that.
Except as Cass does nothing but continue to smile while L.A. is rude and grumpy. Something begins to change.
With Cass supporting him, L.A. is able to see a different way to live and has tremendous growth and change for the better.

By Rude Strength by K.L. Hiers is part of the Tales of the Tarot series. LA Holmes has had the worst luck. He was injured on the job, fired, dumped by his manipulative boyfriend, and got a flat tire. On the way home, he stops by the Magic Shop and receives a potion for strength. He doesn’t realize that strength comes in the form of a hairy, large imp. I loved Cass so much! What an amazing imp. He wanted to help LA so much to find his strength. LA was a rude sarcastic jerk for about 25% of the story. But once he started listening to what Cass was saying, he began changing and growing. I loved these two together and had a lot of fun with them.

I received an ARC from the author for my honest review

He loses his job and his boyfriend of two years on the same day. A trip to the Magic Shop, he's given a little red bottle. And gains his forever.
Cass was a delight. All sunshine and cupcakes. It was easy to fall in love with this character. LA was a little harder. Grumpy and about at the end of his rope. I loved his inner strength. It just goes to show that it takes the right person to reach your goals. Even if they have to help you find new onrs.
A little dark and angsty. Which does turn to sweet and lite. Great worldbuilding. Good secondaries, An enjoyable and quick read.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

OMG!! Cass is a ray of sunshine over a rainbow, the sparkle of a unicorn's horn, and ALL the rainbow confetti!! It struck me as endearing, if maybe a bit OTT (in a good way), how extreme their personalities were; REALLY grumpy, and TOTAL sunshine beam. Somehow, it worked, and these two were amazing characters and relationship to read! So sweet, so romantic, so funny, so grouchy. I'm really glad for how Cass helps LA, especially with the ex issue. Loved the humor, the silliness, the sweetness, and all the feelings reading this romance evoked within.

Great addition to the series!

I loved By Rude Strength by K.L. Hiers. It's part of the multi-author series, Tales From the Tarot. I loved Cass and LA's story. I loved Cass's attitude, how he looks, and how he helps LA or as Cass likes to call him, Elly. I loved how LA stands up to his mom and to his ex boyfriend. I also loved how Cass is LA's biggest cheerleader. There were plenty of hot scenes also. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I read this book using the Kindle unlimited app.
