Beth Dolgner writes paranormal fiction and non-fiction. Her interest in things that go bump in the night really took off on a trip to Savannah, Georgia, so it's fitting that the Betty Boo, Ghost Hunter Series of paranormal romance novels takes place in that spooky city. Beth's young adult novels, the steampunk Manifest and the urban fantasy A Talent for Death, also have paranormal elements. Her non-fiction work includes Georgia Spirits and Specters and Everyday Voodoo.

Since Georgia is obviously on her mind, you might think Beth lives there. Well, she did, but these days she and her husband live in Berlin, Germany, with their three cats. Beth misses those mild Georgia winters and proper iced tea, but there's no reason her characters can't enjoy those things.

Beth also enjoys giving presentations on Victorian death and mourning traditions as well as Victorian Spiritualism. She has been a volunteer at an historic cemetery, a ghost tour guide and a paranormal investigator. Right now she's chronicling the best spooky spots around Europe.

This series is just so much fun, and this latest just really tickled my fancy. Not only is it well-written, but I also absolutely adore all the characters and have come to feel almost like they are family. Especially in this book, that fact was brought home to me when something happened, and I was like “it’s about time!” LOL! If you like fun, well-written, engaging, paranormal cozies, give this series a try; start from the beginning so you get the full effect. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

We FINALLY get progress in the Damien/Beth relationship. The hilarious part was the betting pool 🤣🤣 more clues to Damien’s dad’s disappearance as the investigation into the axing of the mean proprietress of the antique store in town heats up. This is a great series, fun, with quirky snd magical characters.

I received a free audio copy from Tantor Audio and voluntarily reviewed it. All opinions are my own.

Axing at the Antique Store is the seventh book in this series and I am having so much fun listening to this series. Each book has it's own mystery and there is an overarching mystery as well as character related plot lines that progress throughout the series. The characters are fun to read about and are interesting and likable. I like the found family theme and the narrator is great.

In this book Olivia has another mystery on her hands. When Fiona gets a flash that someone is going to die they're on all high alert and then they find the owner of the antique store murdered. Olivia is on the case and trying to figure things out with help of her paranormal powers. This mystery had plenty of possible suspects and I wasn't quite sure who had done. I liked the reveal and wrap up and the way it made sense.

On top of the murder mystery this book has some interesting developments in the search for Baxter. Someone connected with the supernatural black market is visiting, but they're not sure if he's to be trusted, especially when there is a connection with the murdered antique store owner. Toward the end they find a big clue about Baxter and I am excited to see how this will get resolved.

Character wise this was a good one too. I love the found family theme and reading about Olivia and all the many interesting characters she interacts with. All of them get their chance to shine and have scenes they play a role in. There's a character related plot line that progressed which was fun to finally see happen. And there was some new information and background about some characters which was interesting as well. I always enjoy visiting Nightmare again and spending time with these characters.

I really enjoy listening to these and they are great in audio with the narrator doing the different voices well.

To summarize: This was another fun read in this series. There's another mystery as well as the overarching mystery and character related plot lines progressing. There is plenty about the supernatural and more information about some characters and supernatural beings coming to light. The mystery kept me guessing and I liked how it was resolved. It's always fun to return to nightmare and spend time with Olivia and all the various characters she interacts with it. I look forward to the next book!

You sometimes wonder where authors come up with there story lines but this author has hit on such an original and unusual series that it doesn't matter, you just need to sit back and enjoy, as you know it's going to be good. I would recommend you read the books in order because there is a long running mystery of what happened to the owner and you learn a little bit with each new book. There is also a lot of recurring characters or family members that the more you get to know the better you like and want to spend time with. I love the different cast of super natural characters and could easily see them getting there own tv show, especially as the stories are very character driven. I am not a big fan of haunted houses but think even I would visit this one, it sounds so much fun. The mystery was good and to be honest I was surprised when the killer was revealed. Good job Olivia was on the ball, I was to busy enjoying the romance, humour and friendship to work it out. I can't wait for the next book and to learn more.

With the new information Olivia and her friends have learnt about the missing owner of the haunted house, they seek information from the black market. When there informant turns up demanding to be hired before he will tell them anything it sets everybody on edge, especially when the banshee predicts a death and he shows off his new knife. A hunters knife that would kill one of there own. Olivia heads to the antique shop to find more information on the item, only to discover the owner dead. But who killed her? where did the hunters weapon come from and more importantly is there anymore weapons that could hurt one of Olivia's friends? Olivia will need all her skills and her friends in order to find the answers to her questions.
I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

In Search of a Killer!

"Axing at the Antique Store" is Book 7 of the Nightmare, Arizona Paranormal Cozy Mysteries that is written by Beth Dolgner. As I have said in the past, I am not a fan of books about vampires, werewolves, and other monstrous creatures, but I absolutely adore this series. The series focuses on Olivia, a woman who left Nashville after a nasty divorce, and while she was on her way to California to stay with her brother and sister-in-law, breaks down in Nightmare, Arizona, where the population is a mixture or normal humans and should I say normal paranormals, because that's exactly what they are. Mama, Lucy, Damien, Mori, Theo, Malcolm, Zach, Clara, Seraphina, Fiona, Morgan, Madge, Maida, and even Olivia, herself, have some kind of paranormal or magical ability. This episode is about the murder of a mean old lady who owns an antique store, buying antiques for rock bottom prices and selling them for way above normal retail prices. Of course, that's supposed to be good business right? Well, somebody apparently didn't think so and murders the old lady with an antique ax. I really love this series, especially the interactions between Olivia and Damien. These two characters are together to find a way of controlling Damien's powers when he's angry. However, he and Olivia find an even stronger emotional power when Damien is happy. This book should be read in chronological order because of the characters and story plotting and storylines throughout. I gave this book a 5 star rating and can hardly wait to read Book 8.

I received an advanced reader's copy and this is my honest and voluntary review.

If Olivia wasn't already labeled a conjuror by her supernatural friends, I'd almost think her abilities lie in the "stumbling over dead bodies" direction. I mean, this lady has ended up in the middle of every suspicious death that's happened in Nightmare recently. A fact Reyes likes to point out.

This time around, Olivia was innocently visiting the local antique store with Justine and Clara when things took a turn. The owner had been axed (literally) and Olivia can't help but start her own side investigation since she's a little worried the individual trying to help them find Damien's father miiiiight be involved. Somehow.

Figuring out the whys is where it gets fun. Sure, the "guest" at the Sanctuary looks like he might have done it, but there are plenty of other people who had a beef with the victim. Including her own sister. And her husband. And pretty much every other person in town.

So Olivia does her thing. She also hangs out with Damien (amongst other things) and continues to work with him to try to find his father. All in all, GOOD FUN!

Olivia, Clara and Justine head to the local antique shop to check things out when a man named Orin comes to town to help find Baxter. He arrives with a very interesting knife that he picked up at the antique store. When they get to the store they find the owner dead. Office Reyes isn’t really surprised to find Olivia at yet another murder scene. Orin, we find out is a tooth fairy – which are very rare and dangerous. Nightmare, we are finding out, is a haven for paranormals. There are will issues with the owner of the antique store Mrs. Knowles. Her sister is running things at the moment since Mrs. Knowles had changed her will for her to inherit the store. We have learned what Baxter is and that he may be being held captive for his abilities. Damien’s mom has been slowly guiding Olivia and Damien on how to save Baxter. I’m really enjoying a mystery being solved each book along with more of the mystery of Damien and his family being revealed. It is great pacing and the secrets add a great twist.

This is such a great series. Each story can be read as a stand alone. There are no cliffhanger ends.
Olivia and her friends have another murder to solve. All the while still looking for any info on what has happened to Damien's father, Baxter. And still trying to find out what Damien is fully capable of.
I love how we get more info on different main characters in each new story. This time we learn more about Seraphina, the resident siren. The author even manages to introduce us to the supernatural black market (yes you can find whatever supernatural stuff you are looking for) thru this underground trading scene. And after finding that the missing Baxter is actually a phoenix this could be a strong lead. Romance finally has it's time - many have been waiting for the budding romance of two of our main characters.
I received an advance copy of this book and these are my honest comments.

cute series

This whole series is based on a year round haunted house that is based out of a old sanitarium. However it is actually a sanctuary for paranormal creatures who really have no where to safely live. Vampires with no fangs, witches, a chupacabra who everyone treats as a favorite pet., Werewolves, and more. Damien who is the founders son doesn’t know what he is supernaturally, and Olivia who is another main character is what is considered a conjurer meaning she can ask the universe for what she wants badly enough and it can be conjured. Olivia keeps finding people who have been murdered and then she ends up figuring out who the guilty party is. This also has the basic plot running through the entire series, Damien’s father has disappeared and the entire group is trying to find him.
I look forward to reading the next in this series. The characters are endearing and while not like a normal group of people, I like them a lot.

Axing at the Antique Store is book #7 in the Nightmare, Arizona Paranormal Cozy Mysteries series by Beth Dolgner.

I love this series! Vampires, witches, sirens, conjurors, gargoyles, ghosts, and the list goes on all living together as family is wonderful. The banshee senses a death on the horizon and there is concern about who it will be and what their relationship will be to the sanctuary. A simple shopping trip solves the who part of the mystery. This was an entertaining story. I love when the ghosts get to go on a road trip. This was full of surprises and we learned more about the background of some characters. Then there is Olivia and Damien’s training. They make quite the breakthrough! I didn’t guess who the murderer was though I probably should have. I highly recommend this book and the whole series!

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is the 7th book in the series and it is a fantastic addition. The author treats us to some very unusual paranormal characters that work and live like a family at the Sanctuary Haunted House. Our main character, Olivia fits right in, while taking paranormal training with her boss and love interest, Damien. When Olivia and her friends go shopping and stop into the antique store and find the owner dead. The banshee predicted it and than goodness it was not one of the residents and friends of the Sanctuary. But of course, Olivia has to investigate. This book takes us through all kinds of twists and turns as well as the ongoing search for Baxter, Damien's father. What a fantastic addition this book is to the series and the growing relationship between Olivia and Damien makes me smile. I can't wait to see what happens next! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

It's the post holiday season slow down at the haunted house when one night after work Fiona has a premonition that someone is to die. The next day Orin, a tooth fairie and dealer in less than scupulous information and goods, arrives at the sanctuary to help find Baxter. Nobody trusts him and since everybody is already on edge about the death tension runs high amongst the residents. When a trip to the a
localantique store reveals the owner dead, the race is on to find the killer. Using her recently found power to search for clues and continuing the search for the missing Baxter Olivia and her friends are very busy. But not to busy to explore changes in their personal lives as well. A fine mystery with good detective work by our amatue sleath. The characters continue to be well developed and the over arcing search for Baxter is finally moving ahead. A great read and I look forward to the next book.
I received an addvance copy of this book to review.

Another fun Nightmare Arizona read that is to die for! 😉

In this book we come across more of the darker parts of the supernatural world. In the beginning of the series, it all felt very safe and happy. But that's because Baxter knew there was a need for a place like that.

Over the last few books we've seen just how dangerous it can be for a supernatural outside of Sanctuary. I appreciate Sanctuary more because of that. It really is a special place.

I'm truly hoping our characters will find Baxter alive. I want to see him and his son reunite, and connect on a different level. They have a lot to work on together.

I also want to note that I appreciate the author taking the slow burn approach on the main character's romance. The, "insta love" storylines are so icky. Watching two characters build a friendship and get to know each other before getting romantically involved is so much more satisfying.

Now I will wait impatiently for the next book to be released.

Olivia’s friend Fiona, a banshee, announces that a death is going to happen – she doesn’t know who or when but it will somehow be associated with someone at the Sanctuary. While waiting to find out what is happening an old acquaintance of Gunner shows up. Gunner had asked Orin for some information about possible phoenix feathers/ashes being sold on the black market to see if they could get some idea where Baxter is. Unfortunately, he demands money before he will give anyone information so no one is happy with his arrival.
The day Orin arrives the owner of the local antique shop is murdered with multiple suspects as no one liked her.
Olivia and friends get involved in the investigation due to a basic curiosity which grows into something that could affect them the further they get.
This is a fun, quick, easy read and now I have to wait a couple of days for the next book to come out. I will be waiting impatiently since this is such a good series. Interesting and well written.

Seven books in and the MCs FINALLY kiss! This is the slowest of slow burns, but it suits the two characters and has way more realism than many books where heartbreak and disillusion fall by the wayside the moment the character meets someone hot. So I’m okay with it in this case, despite the lack of heat. I’m hoping it hots up a bit now they are finally together, at least!

The number of murders in this tiny, quiet little town is getting unbelievable, though. How many tourists would really visit somewhere where there’s a fresh corpse almost every week? Thank goodness there’s a woman to find the killers, since the police never seem to do their job. (Sarcasm aside, this is an excellent series about supernatural beings, powers, etc. There are some great characters and the plots are wild. Well worth a read)

Another win for Olivia and Damian. I absolutely love the town of Nightmare, AZ. It's like visiting your favorite town that has all your favorite people!

I was so excited to start this when I saw it was FINALLY out. I started reading and couldn't wait any longer. It was like putting on a warm sweatshirt after you've came in from the cold outside. I was so excited to see where this book would take us in finding Baxter from the last book. And we can't forget where Olivia and Damian are romantically 👩‍❤️‍👨.

I enjoyed the mystery because it was different than all the others we have encountered in the series. I was able to say FINALLY!! I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens in the following books in the series!

Good

When the owner of Nightmare’s Antique shop is murdered, Olivia finds herself investigating again.
This time they think there may be a connection to a newcomer to the Sanctuary, one that Damien is hoping will help find his missing father.

Some very intriguing things happen in this story; beginning with a significant even many of us have been waiting for (finally), and leading into clues as to Baxter’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile Olivia is busily using her conjuring skills to help solve the latest Nightmare murder, amusingly it seems Reyes is actually coming to terms with her involvement!
An enjoyable, quick read for the paranormal cosy mystery lover, Nightmare fans will definitely enjoy this one!

Fiona, a banshee, says someone is going to die. The mermaid's back story is revealed and a guy named Orin was her captor. He just happens to be at the Sanctuary to discuss things with Damien.

Then there's the antique store run by a woman who is nasty to her customers. Not the proper way to run a business, of course. That will no longer be a problem, though, since someone has killed her with an axe. In fact, she was so disliked that a picnic is being held to celebrate her murder.

So, it's up to the group to find the murdered, protect the mermaid and also just maybe find out a little more about what happened to Damien's phoenix father who is still missing.

A lot going on an another well done story.

Olivia Kendrick and her friends plan to shop at an antique store and stumble upon a murder scene. The owner was killed with an axe and of course, Olivia starts looking for clues as to who killed the unpopular woman. A nasty supernatural man arrives at the Sanctuary who seems like a good suspect, but the timing of his arrival doesn’t seem to fit. They all keep an eye on him because no one trusts him, even though he’s supposed to be helping to find information about Damien’s missing father. As the gathering of clues finally leads to the murderer, Olivia once more proves what a great detective she is. I’m looking forward, as always, to the next story to see what Olivia and her friends get up to next.

Very fun series that I look forward to. The characters are truly growing and changing with each story. This book features a couple events that any dedicated reader (of the series) has been waiting for. While each book could technically be read as stand-alone, I highly recommend starting with book 1 in the series to really grasp how the characters are growing with themselves and each other.

The paranormal aspect is frequently discussed and lightly displayed, but far from in-your-face. The murder mystery is usually more prevalent to the story line as are the relationships between both primary and secondary characters. That is the part that will pull you into the series. Enjoy!

Another easy to read mystery from Nightmare, AZ. Who knew that being a disagreeable person could get you killed? Olivia finds this out when she and her co-workers discover the reason they cannot get into the local antique store is because the owner has been murdered. And the list of suspects is quite long.

Closer to work, a strange and unnerving newcomer shows up. He claims he can help trace Damien's long-absent father ... for a fee. His background is disturbing, but he has expertise in tracking down missing supernatural beings ... and holding them captive as well.

It's thrills a-plenty in the off season of Nightmare Sanctuary Haunted House - and even a romance!

I love this series so much and Axing At The Antique Store was a great read. I really like the introduction of new characters and how we're kept guessing. The murder mystery aspect is always interesting to read and it keeps me engaged throughout. The mystery of Baxter is still on going and I love the little snippets we get.
I love Olivia and her friendships with Clara, Justine etc. I also love Damien!
I really love the way Beth Dolgner writes these novels, they're so grippy and leave you wanting more. I highly recommend and I can't wait for the next one.

A tooth fairy has been hired to locate Damien's missing father. He, however is not the tooth fairy of childhood tales. He is quite the scary creature. One that has all at the sanctuary on edge. Then, the body od an antique owner puts them all on guard as they wonder if Orin is the one who murdered the shop owner. It turns out no one in Nightmare liked the woman making the list of suspects to encompass not onlt her family, but, literally anyone in town who has had dealings with the woman. Another exciting night in Nightmare!

I love these books!

Nightmare, Arizona, is my happy place. The characters are quirky and creative. The stories are fun and well developed and yet very easy to read and enjoy. I love the family atmosphere at the Sanctuary and how everyone gets along. No frenemies, backstabbing or torrid affairs, just unusual people living their best lives - or unlives as the case may be. We seem to be getting closer to finding Baxter, which is good, but bad too, as I don't want the series to end! Highly recommended!

Always a pleasure reading these fun supernatural mysteries

Likeable main characters, a budding romance between the two main protagonists, and a puzzling murder mystery to solve make this an enjoyable read.
With every book we get to know more about the town of Nightmare AZ and its inhabitants, both normal and paranormal.
This is one of the best mystery series I’ve had the pleasure to discover.
As soon as I’m finishing up one book, I’m already looking forward to starting the next one. An addictive series!

Olivia & Damian are working on honing their paranormal gifts when a tooth fairy - and not in a good way - comes to Damian's office promising he will find Damian's father. The next day, Olivia and her friends go to the antique store, only to find the owner dead. An owner who everyone hated. It's time for Olivia and her friends to figure out who murdered this woman, without Olivia losing her life, too!
I so love this series that I can't wait for the next one!!
