Unfortunately, I have to DNF this. I rely on vibe and emotion when I rate a book, so when a book makes me feel ambivalent I engage my next line of defence (actual reviewer eyes) to check if my vibe is broken or is it the book? In this instance, it’s the way the story was presented/written. I guess the author fell for the “telling and not showing” trap. And due to that the writing felt pedestrian and juvenile. I am the easiest sell when it comes to sapphic novels. I just couldn’t go on reading when I can’t feel connected with the characters and such.
I had a difficulty to rate this book. I gave it a solid 4* in the end. I really enjoy this story. However it feels like there is something missing. The Evil is kind of a back story it seems. There is almost solely focus on Nyx and October. Well, it is good and bad in some ways but I guess that was the author’s intention. Too bad that magic is so sparely used. It does include some 🌶️.
At first I thought that “Witchbound” duet and “Witchtryst” books are two separate stories. Turns out it is a continuation of the first two books just with focus on different main characters.
Despite everything I think this story is worth to give it a shot.
I love the covers of all of the books in this series!
It was terrible, I’m almost certain it was written by AI. This is the first time I’ve been so bothered by the writing. Every sentence felt forced, and the same ideas if not same words kept repeating in every paragraph. The prose was so clunky and unnatural that reading it became a chore, and I couldn’t even finish it.
The concept itself was actually pretty nice, and I did like the characters. But it just didn’t feel human, there was something essential missing. The dialogue felt empty, with no real story.
Hope the next book has got more spice and not just talking non stop with no true action. A bid disappointed in this book coz it lacked the 🔥 steam intense scenes as the previous series. Nothing exciting keeping you on edge. Yet there is so much to these FMC's story and sadly a 4🌟 worth.
