battle..! 🥹
4.5 ⭐️ 6 Eight owes me nothing. I literally ran through the pages so fast. I think this may have been the first book by Barbie that didn’t have my blood pressure “sky high” and ready to hop in her DMs for emotional support. While this was more subtle in terms of stress, it was a page turner. Battle and Graceful’s first encounter wasn’t a pleasant one but it had a huge impact on the story. In fact, they had more in common than they probably realized. Both were forced to overcome losses and grow up earlier than expected. Life dealt them a crappy hand. I loved the mentions of addiction and the fact that it doesn’t always mean substance abuse, as gambling was a huge problem in this one. But gambling is what brought Battle and Graceful back to each other. Graceful’s “supposed lover” wasted no time betting against her. And I actually loved that for her because it was the eye opener she needed. Nayo was the worst and preyed on the fact that Graceful didn’t have anyone outside of him. I was so glad when she gave Battle a chance because he was truly everything she needed! I loved how he was stepping behind her, it was just enough simping - but he didn’t lose his thuggish ways, lol! I mean, the man modeled my girls clothes in a fashion show. I was like you better!! 🥰I truly enjoyed the plot twists and drama but also the romantic aspect of the story. However, I would have liked to have seen more of Bryla, especially after she rehabbed from her injuries. Nonetheless, this was such a great read for me! I’ll take a Battle wedding, please!

This is a new to me author- I believe I found this book on IG. Either way I wasn’t a fan of the story telling and found the story to be lacking.
I guess this was too fiction for me. Good news was it’s less than 200 pgs; which I began skimming around the 50-55% mark. I probably should’ve DNF’d, but I was hoping things might turn around.

Wow, what an ending!
I hated Nayo early on if I’m being honest and good reason too. You knew who Graceful was and played in her face for what?? But Bsttle gave BDE and he knew he wanted Graceful. This was a really good story and I’d love a sequel.
And Halo is just nasty like sis be for real.

Okay!
This was okay.... I don't see where all this battle love is coming from, because I couldn't stand him lol. The way he talked to Graceful all the way up until they got freaky (which was 58% in) was straight up disrespectful and not cute at all!! He would call her all kinds of dumb B's just cause she was trying to leave! He has already smacked her eyelashes off when they were younger. I just don't see how he was appealing to her, yeah he was very protective but that means nothing if he talks to you like an enemy!! I understand Nayo was trash and definitely didn't deserve her but that didn't warrant the way he talked to her!! Also the situation with her mom kinda threw me off because her mom did her so wrong and by the end it was like she didn't do anything (I also think the dad wouldn't have forgiven her for literally leaving their daughter with nothing and almost making her a ward of the state, also when she reached out to her for help when she first got to battles the mom paid her dust) the story almost seemed like a fairytale... Every problem got solved almost like magic! And Bryla saving the day got a major side eye lol

This one surprised me.. when in first started I thought.. damn this a coming of age and I don’t usually like reading about really young characters, but stuck it out…
Battle was so mature for his age but slapping Grace?? 👀👀👀. I really wanted to read more about the 5 years with John grooming him into the man he was. I didn’t like that time jump, I feel seeing that would have given the story much needed depth.
Grace was dealt a really bad hand, and I was happy that her father showed her true love before his passing which helped her easily identify that Battles feelings were real. Mayo was a nasty nigga and a felt his grimy ass ways from the beginning, and Hazel hoe ass.. SMH…

I loved this book ! Bryson “Battle” and Graceful Jones. Gracey is a devastated daddy’s girl who is left to figure out life after her only parent she really knows in her life is murdered in front of her. Unbeknownst to her she falls for the enemy, Nylo. Gambling… the very thing that took her father away, changes her life yet again. Her boyfriend has a gambling problem and this time…he bet Her ! Nylo loses the bet and Graceful is holding out hope that he will come back for her.
Bryson aka battle is a bad ass kid that was groomed to be a dope ass man ! Battle owns “Battle Field” gambling shack and casino. Mr. Fontaine came in and changed his life tremendously. Battle is all about his money and his attitude is horrible… everyone knows not to try him. Nylo lost the double 6 eight bet ($150,000) and battle collected ! Collected his woman and her heart. The secrets that came out had my mouth hanging !

Beautiful Love Story!
I loved this beautifully written love story! So unique with the main characters being resilient despite any barrier or challenge! Barbie Amor is a new author for me and I’ve read 3 of her novels and I can say the woman can write and is truly gifted with the pen 🖊️of writing stories.

Enemies to lovers is a favorite of mine, and Graceful and Bryson “Battle” 😘 I enjoyed this book. There were a lot of twist and turns and with a boo like Nayo Graceful girl you didn’t need no enemies. I love Graceful and Bryla’s bond. Battle stood on business 👏🏾 can we give 💯 for Mr. Fairborne 🫶🏾

I didn’t like Bryson until the very end. He slapped her when he was robbing a party, later on said he should’ve did more than just slap her, call her a b word mainly behind her back (some people like that but I don’t), every time he talked or thought about her for the most part he was only thinking about getting her in bed and how she was pretty, while they weren’t together he had an employee giving him head and she walked in on them and LITERALLY HOURS AFTER IF THAT BRYSON AND GRACEFUL WERE HAVING S*X.
Like did he even take a shower before they did it from having the other girl mouth on him… At the time he was single but my thing is if he walked in on her doing the same thing his reaction would’ve been worse he might’ve offed the guy or beat him up. Not only that but you’re imagining that the other girl is graceful while your doing it with her and told graceful to her face he would rather it be her giving him head. You couldn’t think of any other reason to try and get her to date you. Lastly, towards the end he was talking about something and whatever he said about graceful acting right he basically said the women that need d**k don’t know how to shut up but graceful knew not to do all of that like she a dog and he got her trained or something.

This was such a good story from beginning til end. Battle was no joke and didn't care he did what he wanted as well as getting exactly what he wanted. Poor Gracie to loose your father right in front of you only to have the mother that ran off come back and kick you out taking everything away., she got exactly what she deserved. Now Nayo was lower than a snake from beginning til end, he knew it was his uncle that took Gracie father from her, then to gamble her life away as well as using her for a place to live, car to drive then sleeping with a so called friend in her place what a joke. So happy relationships were repaired and Bryla recovered just in time. Mr. Fair born was indeed a great man taking.care of the love of his life children making them his own. It would be nice to maybe read a Christmas novella about these characters and where they ended up.

I didn't want this story to end because it was just that good. Battle and Graceful both had tough starts in life and were doing what they could to survive. Their paths crossed once and then 5 years later crosses again due to Nayo, Graceful's so-called boyfriend. This ninja bet his girl and lost to Battle. I absolutely hated him in this book he was a snake and deserved his ending. I loved it when Battle and Graceful finally got together. Their love was an instalove when they finally stopped putting on like they hated each other. The plot twists in this book I didn't see coming at all, especially the one dealing with Battle's mom. Barbie Amor is now one of my favorite authors, and she hasn't disappointed me yet.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I’m not impressed. Battle was not a lovable character. He did not treat Graceful well in my view. All she got was harsh words and rough sex.
Imagine telling the man who says he loves you why the nickname he’s given you upsets you, and he dismisses you and continues to use it? WTH!
Plus the story was just weird. There was a gambling addict with insurance policies and a sister in a coma who miraculously wakes up to go shot someone without remorse, when she was previously a completely different character??? There was an attempt at an explanation in the epilogue but it was still just bizarre.

This was my first introduction to this author. If you looking for a story just for the vibes then I would recommend, If not, read at your own risk.
I like the concept of this story, however, the pacing of the story seems rushed. Normally I love an instant love trope, but I lowkey feel as if this story should’ve been a slow burn. (I’m aware I am not the writer and I can’t tell them how to write their artistry.) Simply because of how the characters came about. And to be completely honest, it was giving slow burn in the beginning, but the second they had sex, they immediately stated that they love each other and I felt like a missed a chapter or four. lol

I loved it
Man this was good good!¡!! The whole book was fire. Nayo was trash. Thank God for the people who stepped up and gave them both the live they needed. Only thing that bothers me is the mother of one of both kids just magically make up after the mother walked away and chose drugs or whatever over their children. That seems to be normalized in books these days. No make them mother's accountable just like the daddies.

Great read
New to me author but she did her thang with this one. You can lose everything with a gambling and drug addiction. Imagine your man losing you to a bet. You have to go with the winner. Gracey had already lost her Father to gambling when she was a child and This just puts the icing on the cake. I enjoyed this book because it was always some drama. I couldn’t put it down.

As always love Barbie!!! This is no different!! Battle was wrecking havoc since he was younger and did that really did not stop but at least when older it was provoked. Graceful was loyal by default almost because it was just in her. It started with her dad then that man lol. But Battle was loyal to her even when he wanted to do his own thing. I loved how he knew he wasn't letting up off her because he knew her worth she just had to remember it.

Good story line, but grammatical mistakes ugh
While I usually don’t point out grammar mistakes and errors, it’s really distracting trying to read. Whether using Alexa or reading from the kindle app the mistakes were noticeable but they weren’t unbearable like most. 4 stars felt reasonable since the story line was good. Please double check your work of art before pushing it to the public. I might read something else from this author but who knows.

He had the right name cause baby one thing for sure he was gone battle and win the war Omggggg for them to turn out tone siblings was a blessing in disguise in so happy bout john cause it was love that gave him the strength to do what a real father would do grace most definitely deserved better then nayo and I'm glad battle was there voids are hard to fill but sometimes you just have to let someone in just to fill it great book

Wow!! Battle is totally unhinged, but I love him. Foster care and having to get it out of the mud has shaped his life, that is, until he's adopted by Mr. Fishbourne. He grooms Battle and teaches him how to be a man.
Then he sees Graceful again, not fully remembering her as the girl he slapped during a college party robbery. Once he makes the connection, he's in for the gamble of his life.

October 3, 2024DNF. I pushed through to about 64% because I hate unfinished reading but when I got to Battle talking about Lauren London and Nipsey, I had to go. This storyline is really lacking, the MCs are just so unrealistic , I know it's fiction, but they both give me the ick. The language, everything is just a no.

This story was good as hell and it sucks that Nayo was all Gracey knew an the whole time he knew who killed her father n just swept it under the rug. I’m so glad Bryla came out of nowhere to save them because that would of been messed up if they would of killed Gracey n Battle

Must Read!
Such a great love story of enemies to friends to redemption to love. I really enjoyed Battle & Graceful love story. They persevered thru the heartache and pain and came out on top. LOVE WINS AGAIN!
