Are there any barriers between fiction and reality?
Linda begins to wonder as Draw You In, Vol 2 – Secret Origins continues this epic tale. Once again she puts her comic career on hold to join Richard and Agent McPherson in the hunt for R. L. Carver's lost graphic novel – Tales That Draw You In. Rumored to be cursed, this legendary work put every publisher who tried to print it out of business. But Tales That Draw You In might unlock more than just their case. It could be the key to the secret history of the United States.
Don't miss out on the next installment in the mind bending trilogy that's changing the face of modern horror.

Jasper Bark finds writing author biographies and talking about himself in the third person faintly embarrassing. Telling you that he’s an award winning author of four cult novels including the highly acclaimed ‘Way of the Barefoot Zombie’, just sounds like boasting. Then he has to mention that he’s written 12 children’s books and hundreds of comics and graphic novels and he wants to just curl up. He cringes when he has to reveal that his work has been translated into nine different languages and is used in schools throughout the UK to help improve literacy, or that he was awarded the This Is Horror Award for his last anthology ‘Dead Air’. Maybe he’s too British, or maybe he just needs a good enema, but he’s glad this bio is now over.
This trilogy draws you in...though I don't want to be drawn. Bad things happen to those people!
We delve further into conspiracies -I definitely believe them all - that would shock the world. We find out more about our lovely Linda. We go deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole.
I don’t know how, but this second instalment managed to keep the momentum, and my interest, throughout. I never read series books back to back. What’s happening here????
This one got to me. I was close to pulling my hair out near the end and didn’t want to breathe, eat or drink till I finished it. Then I felt like I had the zoomies after I finished it. The way the writer used names and stories from the main story and mixed it into the comics made the horrific things that happened even more horrific. The hatchet man was definitely my favourite comic strip so far. This review will be short as I want to get to the last volume!
I finally got around to reading the second volume of Draw You In by Jasper Bark. Let me tell you, this guy is a master of words. A brick layer of stories. A real master at the craft of creating a world you can feel yourself get sucked into. He’s perfected the multilayered universe of story building and doesn’t forget a single detail when bringing it all together. I caught myself gasping, feeling uneasy, and enjoying every single word. If you haven’t yet, do yourself a favor and pick this trilogy up!
Linda, Agent McPherson, and Richard are back and they're hot on the trail of the Shadows in the Cave, the ancient organization whose goal it is to rule the world. Of course, like any other group who is trying to take over mankind, they're hard to find and dangerous when cornered. Volume 2 picks up where volume 1 left off, with the story only becoming richer as it goes forward. I blazed through this one even faster than the first book and I have already cracked into volume 3. This is a mystery/action story that's as inventive as it is textured. It's a perfect follow-up and it's obvious this trilogy is going to become one of my favorite series to read and reread. The five-stars above this review should be enough to convince you to pick up the Draw You In books but, if not, just let me assure you I only give that kind of review to books that really hit me in the gut and stick around in my brain long after I'm done. -Jim X Dodge, author of The Bite and Pig Iron
Jasper is truly a Chaos Goblin, and i mean that as a compliment.
This is the second in the series, and spoiler alert, I've already bought the third, the first was that good. This one was no slacker though.
We have everything built into this little comic horror , urban legends, crazy different histories, and then throw in spies, and conspiracies?? Insanity, but fear not, its not too much for Jasper as he manages to tie it together, and get us ready for the third, and will be it be final installment ??
This book is the second part of a trilogy and this book ends as ‘to be continued..’ and I’m not sure how to review it, because I haven’t read the last book at yet.
So I guess I will just say how I feel about it so far, and I will do an update when I have read all three.
The 1st book fits its name sake perfectly, because the story draws you in, and I love it, it is one of those stories that make you late for something because you get so immersed in the story you lose track of time. It has a similar feel the old movie Cellar Dweller.
The 2nd book (this one) has more of a fantasy / adventure feel to it, and reminds me more of The Da Vinci Code or The National Treasure movie, but it does expand the story from the first showing that there is more to this story than what I originally thought.
So I will finished this review like the book, 'to be continued..'
Volume 2 gripped me right from the start, and it takes us further down the rabbit hole. As we continue following our intrepid threesome, we get drawn in (I did it again lol), to part possible history lesson, part horror show. Unputdownable. Brilliantly written, exceptional characters and a continuing story that you can’t help but become invested in, with part fascination, curiosity and undoubtedly disgust and horror. I can’t wait for the 3rd volume, where hopefully all the truths will be revealed.
In this thunderously bizarre series of books, the second volume is the one where the influences – subconsciously or otherwise – really start to become obvious, and in a good way. Things feel flipped on their head as events turn into a more Dan Brown-esque secret society thriller, although for the record Bark is far better author than Brown ever will be, and while our heroes journey across America in search of threads to pull on, the intimations of John Farris-esque conspiracy really start to show. It's a fantastic continuation of the series, and especially with the eldritch sonata Bark is promising to play coming further into view, jumping into the third and final book will be irresistible.
Nothing I write in this review will do this book justice. Right from the first chapter I was immediately drawn (no pun intended) back into the story. I loved that there was no need for the author to rehash what happened in the first book. There's so much going on, it's a supernatural horror that delves into political conspiracies, the history of comics in America, a theory on why the superhero comic was invented, a bit of cosmic horror and gore. All of that tied up in a mystery. There's an amazingly well crafted and imaginative spin on The Tell Tale Heart by Poe that blew me away. That alone made the book worth reading. You can tell that Bark did a lot of research to write this series. I learned quite a bit from this book so it was not only entertaining but a bit educational. I won't say it ends on a cliffhanger, but you're definitely left with more questions that make reading the last book a priority.
Having finished the entire trilogy, I can easily attest that the imagination gone into this story is simply INCREDIBLE! Bark's is a brilliant mind, turning a seemingly harmless quest for a lost horror comic book into a rollercoaster full of historical details and exciting characters.
The second volume continues with Linda Corrigan's quest to understand what's behind the disappearances. Linda is now deeply involved with the FBI as an advisor, along with Richard and Agent McPherson. The conspirators' project is reveaed, while more and more characters are drawn into this malestrom of a story! The supernatural elements can no longer stay in the background and at last start driving the story forward: Carver's work is brought to light in all its bloody glory, as comic book strips come alive and literally devour the unsuspecting reader who has no inkling of the magical impact of Carver's horror art! The revelations come non-stop, till the story sheds its facade of conspiracy horror thriller and emerges as an epic narrative of cosmic horror. The scale of what Bark has in mind gave me brain-freeze: his creativity has literally no bounds!
Volume 2 combines myths, urban legends, and spy fiction into an intricate web of alternate histories, conspiracy plots, and end-of-the-world cult lore - all the while playing with the reader's love of comic books and the mysterious power of true art. Volume 3, however, promises to bring everything together and cannot be missed!
