Midnight Shadows: The Bluebird Chronicles

Rate this book
One Crow for Sorrow.

Being an Arkane Royal is starting to irritate Reid. After the events of the last year, he’s overwhelmed and misses his Flame. Penelope’s family vacation has landed her in Akina’s territory with her cousin and ex-fiancé; the Territory Four Crone has hired him for a job; and there’s Best Man duties to perform. To top it off, Penelope hasn’t been acting like herself since they returned to Illinois, and getting everything ready for Asher and Bailey’s wedding is fraying his last nerve. How can he keep Penelope safe when even Vampire House turns into a place of nightmares?

A Bluebird for Hope.

Penelope is beyond pissed when she finds out all of the distance between her and Reid has been for nothing, but there’s no time to talk about it between helping to plan her best friend’s wedding, starting her own business, and assassins intent to do Akina’s bidding. The stress is starting to get to her and she should probably mention the blank spots in her memory to someone. Between the dress fittings, an ex who won’t take a hint, and being crowned as an official member of the Arkane Royal Family, she has no time to relax. She’s tired of having a bodyguard all the time, she wants her Flame back.

The Midnight Shadows: The Bluebird Chronicles by Amber Marie storyline has a lot of potential, but it reiterates the same stuff about why the two MC's are not having sex, just in a different scene/location each time. I'm still not clear on how having sex makes the male MC less of a protector.

We have two vampire gangs at war, yet it goes on for months at a time with zero interaction between them. The part in the book where there is any bloody conflict (by the waterfall) could easily have been made into a much more thrilling chapter, but was, IMHO cut short. I found the MC male to overreact over stuff that made no sense at all for the attitude he displays.

I do however LOVE the Midnight Shadows book cover!

With the explicit love scenes, this book is 18+.

Penelope and everyone is back to keep fighting the good fight against their enemies. So many are after Penelope to either kill or keep her. Akina just wants Reid, and is willing to squash anyone in the way, even after she is demoted and warned. To her, life is nothing without him, and she will go to the ends to return him to her.

Meanwhile, Reid has made a stance that Penelope is not happy about. They are getting ready for Bailey’s wedding, fighting off the enemies, plotting to take them down, fixing to go to war, and in the midst, Penelope is hit with magic that changes her. But…once something is said, did she truly mean it? Reid will fight with his personal demons trying to keep others safe.

He will make a huge foul when his daughter is hurt. It could cost him Penelope. They are not in a good place, so no one knows what will happen. This is the second part of the four part journey to everyone’s stories. It is somewhat tame, but also contains lots of action when needed. I know things are just gearing up for the last two parts. I cannot wait to read them.

So I’ve started with book two and it’s clear I am definitely missing out! That said I did manage to follow Penelope and Reid’s journey and it is fraught with danger and drama. There’s tons going on what with a wedding, fighting with the enemy and impending war, so it’s no wonder everybody is frayed and on edge. The world building is incredible, the storyline, intriguing, a little tense and full of twists and turns that have you hooked and I’m off to read book one to get the full picture before I move onto book three!

Great continuation of the story. Penelope and Reid’s path to being together sure doesn’t look like it will be easy but I like how they keep trying no matter how many obstacles are thrown in their path.

In this continued story we have lots of distance between Penelope and Reid. There are new developments for Penelope and Baileys wedding. I love the characters and the world being built. Reid will do anything to protect Penelope even staying away. Akina will make you want to strangle her. Need more

Twin Flames... Boy does this book take you through all the emotions. I recommend curling up with some coffee.. and be prepared because it's a whirlwind. I love seeing the story deepen as you fall on love with the characters. I will absolutely be reading these again after I finish the series.
