He once had a patient, a boy with borderline personality disorder.
Just when he was working as a full-time psychiatrist at University A, he met Fu Xingran again.
Fu Xingran is no longer the boy who was full of hatred for the world and always holding his hand with red eyes, but a sunny and cheerful college student.
“Dr. Su, do you remember me?”
When we met in the corridor, Fu Xingran was wearing a pure white sweater and bathed in the sun.
He was tall and sunny, just like the name Ran, bright and dazzling.
He smiled and said, “Xingran, long time no see.”
“I should call you teacher now.”
Fu Xingran approached him and said, “I can finally see you every day.”
He didn’t think there was anything wrong with this sentence at the time, after all, it is normal to meet in the same school.
Until one day, he accidentally pushed open the ajar door.
The wall inside the door is covered with photos of him, from medical treatment, class, shopping…
There is also an oil painting of him sitting on a chair in a white coat.
“Ah, I’ve been discovered.”
A smiley voice came from behind.
He turned around.
I saw Fu Xingran smiling brightly: “I finally found it, brother, we can’t leave.”

I'm usually frustrated when, despite how a character resists someone's morally questionable advances, they eventually submit to them. But I was surprised that I was even frustrated, or rather unamused, by the lack of resistance Su Lixu displayed to Fu Xingran's sealed away obsessive affections until their eventual reunion four years since their first fated meeting. 😟
Maybe because Fu Xingran didn't quite approach him with ulterior motives of his devotion, even if perhaps with sinister intentions, given how shocking and disturbing some of his pursuits of his primary psychiatrist had since persisted. But, once he laid bare the torch he'd carried for Su Lixu to the point of madness, it became rather easy for him to succumb to his whims for how he somewhat cared for him in a deeper, intimate way too. 🤷🏻♀️
“The inherent romance in this world is not romantic to me. I want to challenge that, because I believe my romance is keeping you privately.”
So, perhaps that made their romance slightly --- convenient, and in turn, boring and kind of dismissive. 😮💨 The fade to black to their spice also maybe played a factor in my disinterest and annoyance, considering that it did build on the steam nicely. Su Lixu displayed a certain tactful approach to Fu Xingran's infatuations, as well as his self-control of a pursuit also made their chemistry lacking.
I also wasn't quite convinced at how unbelievable it was for him not to connect the dots to Fu Xingran's quite obvious tattoo. Heck, it didn't take a genius to figure out who those initials belonged to! 🤦🏻♀️ But how he countered it with his own did show just how similar they were in staking their claim on each other—a romantic refutation forged during a crucial stage in both their lives that defined their future psychosis, too. 🥺
“This romantic debate, about your greedy possession, love should be passionate and unwavering until death.”
I did expect Su Lixu, being his former doctor, to play a larger part - maybe a little more psychological twist to Fu Xingran's borderline personality disorder—but I didn't feel it become something more impactful. All of Su Lixu's analyzing and hesitancy in rejecting his love felt insignificant in hindsight to how as long as there’s a response, that love is eternal. ♥️
But, to be fair, it wasn't all that bad. The writing had some poignant touches, and Fu Xingran's own willingness to make Su Lixu feel comfortable with him was adorable, and they shared some affectionate scenes. I think I was just anticipating more toxicity rather than earnestness; with how very sweet and laid-back and accepting the conflicts were resolved, it made it not that memorable love story as it could have been. 🥀
“Because I love you too much, I haven’t obtained you yet. I can’t bear to lose you, so I must stay alive to wait for you.”

el capítulo final fue una última patada de nostalgia y ternura en la cara...
me interesa mucho la psiquiatría y la psicología, por lo q fue divertido analizar los síntomas y comportamientos de fu xingran y ver cuánto se acercan a la realidad. Esta novela me interesó aún más porque se hablaba específicamente del tlp (tlp de alto funcionamiento que es el que tiene fxg).

amé el paralelismo del último capítulo, primero un su lixu deprimido por la muerte de sus padres y hermano pensando en suicidarse y sin querer termina salvando a fu xingran en un restaurante de un rascacielos. y luego años después los dos ya como una pareja, comiendo juntos en el mismo restaurante, felices y agradecidos de estar vivos.. si no moquee con ese final fue porque estaba en la combi y medio bus me iba a voltear a ver
