The US Army Green books, and the very similar HMSO official histories are essential reading for anyone seriously interested in the history of WWII. Unfortunately they are physically large books and rarely found outside academic libraries. The 'Kindle' editions although not suitable for research are aimed at getting these histories to a wider audience
