Without a Dream

Rate this book
Josey Dale has come to a crossroad in her life. The hopes and dreams of the past are gone, the present looks bleak, and what the future holds is a mystery. A respite at Ivy's Bed & Breakfast will give her time to contemplate what to do now that she has nowhere to go.

Dr. Thunder Wade, the local veterinarian, has to stop by Ivy's Bed & Breakfast Inn to pick up the owners' dog since Aurora, the temporary caretaker, can't handle the enormous St. Bernard puppy. He is intrigued by the single guest, Josey, in residence. An invitation to tea turns into a fight for their lives as a powerful thunderstorm rages outside, floods the area, and causes a giant cottonwood to fall on the only road out.

Three strangers stuck together without electricity and phone service share their stories. As the days lengthen they learn more about each other and the secrets that rule their lives. And facing their pasts, their fears, and their hearts might be the biggest challenge of all.

If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would.  I enjoyed Josey and Thunder’s story so much.  The story was so emotional, and I loved how the author showed our Heavenly Father’s love in her story.  The words of guidance for Josey and Thunder were awesome.  Josey had an extremely abusive childhood and it all comes out in this story.  She has come to stay and Ivy’s Inn to figure out her place in life.  Thunder is the local vet.  He has come to Ivy’s Inn to get Hugo, the dog, to take him to his boarding kennel.  The story also includes Aurora, an older lady, who has come to stay at the Inn while the caretakers, Roni and Jarett are out of town.  Both Aurora and Josey arrive at the inn at about the same time.  There are stormy skies.  Thunder arrives to pick up Hugo.  As the 3 are conversing the storms start and Thunder is stuck at the inn when a tree falls and blocks the driveway.  Thunder hates storms.  A fear that goes back to when he was 6.  This is explained in the book also.  Over a 3 day period (Saturday through Monday) the 3 get to know each other and learn a lot about Heavenly Father’s love for them.  I highly recommend this story.  It is full of faith building and gospel lessons.  It’s important to realize that what has happened in the past does not control us especially when we trust that our Heavenly Father has an ultimate plan for us and will guide us through it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

What a beautiful ending to a beautiful series. I would love to see this series continue. Such heartwarming stories and Josey and Thunder's story is no exception! Getting out of your comfort zone and healing from your past fears, these two show us that as long as we have each other and God by our side, we can accomplish that and so much more. Our fears make us stronger and better versions of ourselves. I enjoyed being 'stuck' in Ivy's Inn waiting out a storm with these characters. I felt like I was right there with them. And Hugo, precious Hugo, this dog was so cute and gave the story a few laughs and unexpected turns. Don't miss your chance to read this heartfelt story and catch up on book 1 and 2 also, you'll love them!

Josey has a tough childhood. Her mother had passed away leaving her with her stepfather that abused her. She eventually was sent to live with her mother’s sister Mae. Mae loved her and she lived with her until adulthood.
She came to Ivy’s Inn to figure out what she wanted in life. There was also an older lady Auora visiting the house as well. They started a great friendship and shared their love of the Lord. The local vet Thunder also ended up at the Inn due to a storm. The three started a great relationship and shared their deepest secrets and Josey finally realized what she wanted with her life.
Another great story in the Ivy’s Inn series. I was given this book as a ARC reader but am giving my opinion of the book.
