We’re on book #14 of this series, and it’s still killing it! This time, we’ve got Jack "King" and Willa, and oh boy, was their story a blast! King is a pro hockey player who can’t help but be impressed when Willa—a total newbie to hockey and pee wee coach—stands up to a toxic hockey dad. So what does he do? Swoops in and offers to help her coach, of course.

King is the definition of a good guy. He’s sweet, genuine, and showers Willa with compliments like it’s his job. Meanwhile, Willa is trying to rebuild her life after a divorce, and when this younger hockey star takes a liking to her, all her past insecurities bubble up. But she’s accomplished, kind, and deserves the love King offers. And let’s just say, their chemistry is smoking hot! And King’s dirty mouth is the cherry on top.

The Titans players are back too, with fun cameos from old favorites and some new faces. And OMG, Ms. Bennett is keeping us on edge with whatever’s going on with Penn. King knows the scoop, but we don’t! And the next book isn’t about him either—what a tease! Overall, this book is another fabulous addition to one of my favorite hockey series, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Jack Kingston aka “King” is a professional hockey player that transferred to Pittsburgh to be a first line defenseman for the Titans. Their newly rebuilt team has definite championship potential, and makes him excited to be a part of it. Lately he’s focused on his career more than his personal life. He wants to eventually find someone to share his life with, but he’s not in any hurry. He’s looking for something real, and isn’t interested in meaningless hookups. Then he meets a woman that completely catches his attention. He finds Willa fascinating and wants to get to know her better.

Willa Montreaux is an established doctor hoping for a fresh start after her divorce. She no longer believes in fairytales, and doesn’t trust easily anymore. She spends most of her time working or with her family. When her nieces new peewee hockey team loses their coach she’s suddenly taking over. She’s a former figure skater who knows nothing about hockey. When a stranger notices her struggling and volunteers to help out she can’t believe it. Then she learns the man that came to her rescue is also an NHL athlete. As they spend time together an attraction grows she can’t deny. He wants to explore their connection, but she isn’t interested in a relationship. He’s genuine, kind, gorgeous, and way too young for her, but also persuasive. As he reignites a fire within her will she put her fears aside and take a chance on love?

King (Pittsburgh Titans Book #14) by Sawyer Bennett is an age gap, friends to lovers, sports romance about trust, family, friendship, new beginnings and undeniable connections. It’s a story full of emotion, humor, passion, amazing banter and all the swoon. I just loved King!!! I adore this series and can’t wait for more! <333

In King, part of the ongoing series about the Titans, Pittsburgh’s beloved hockey team, we’re introduced to Jack Kingston, a seasoned professional in the world of hockey but a newcomer to the Titans. This story perfectly blends the intensity of the sport with the delicate dance of romance, delivering a captivating tale.

Jack Kingston may be fresh to the Titans, but he's got a few years of hockey experience under his belt. His dedication to the game takes him to the rink for some extra practice, where he happens upon a youngsters hockey coach struggling to manage her team. Jack’s natural instinct is to step in and offer his expertise. It doesn’t hurt that the coach, who turns out to be the fiercely independent and stunningly beautiful Willa, catches his attention in more ways than one. However, it becomes clear early on that Willa is not a damsel in distress waiting for a hockey hunk to swoop in—she’s capable, driven, and used to handling things on her own. Jack’s offer to help is met with some resistance, setting the stage for a fun, slow-burning romance.

The story takes time to explore their growing connection. Jack’s interest in Willa is genuine; he respects her abilities as a coach and loves her passion for her vocation, but he’s also careful not to overstep. Willa, on the other hand, struggles with accepting help, especially from someone as confident and capable as Jack. This push-and-pull between them creates delightful tension, as readers watch Jack try to win over Willa’s heart, both on and off the ice.

Once again, we're delving into the Titan's wider family, which helps keep the theme nicely tied together.

Complimentary copy received with delight from the author.

King: A Pittsburgh Titans Novel (Pittsburgh Titans #14) by Sawyer Bennett. King is new to the Titans. He is part of the rebuilding of the team for the new season. When at a rink watching Drake's son's hockey game, he comes across Wiila. Willa has found herself the coach of her niece's hockey team. She was a figure skater but doesn't know a thing about hockey. Jack, aka King, noticing that decides to help her. He also has an attraction to her. Willa doesn't have a clue who Jack Kingston is, but she knows of the Pittsburgh Titans. Jack finds that refreshing. Willa is still dealing with her divorce from her surgeon husband, who not only cheated on her but was verbally abusive. When King shows an interest in her, she has reservation. Willa isn't looking for anything serious, and the biggest issue is the age difference. She is 8 years older than King. Wiila's self-esteem is not the best. Her husband really did a number on her, and King, being a very attractive, successful hockey player, doesn't help. King isn't into one night stands or butty calls. He could care less about the age difference. His feelings for her have him willing to fight for her regardless of her issues. It has been a while since I read this author. This was a sweet journey that I enjoyed from the beginning to the end. There were some ups and downs. It was great catching up with the characters from the other books, which is always a treat. 4.5 stars for me.

3.5: King meets Willa while at a friend’s kids’ hockey game. She has just been assigned as coach when no one else steps up. He decides to offer his help.
This book follows the start of a relationship between them. Problem is Willa just got out of an abusive marriage and is hung up on their 8 year age gap.

Willa is a newly divorced doctor and starting much of her life over. Her family is important to her and she spends as much time as she can with her sister and niece, going so far as to step in to coach her niece’s hockey team when the assigned coach quits. The only problem is that her ice experience is of the figure skating variety and she is out of her depths with hockey.

Jack Kingston is new to the TItans, but has been playing hockey for some time. He didn’t set out to coach a kids’ hockey team, but after the conversation he overheard between an overbearing parent and the coach trying to help the kids fall in love with the sport, he felt pulled to share his hockey knowledge. He knows he doesn’t have time to do it on his own, but he can step in as assistant and leave drills and plans for when he can’t be there.

As Willa and Jack work together on the Ice Pups’ season, they find themselves fighting an attraction and building a team together. A few restaurant meetings to make plans for the teams leads to banter and flirting and more. But though he is looking for a relationship, she isn’t sure she’s ready to jump into things again and there is that pesky age gap to contend with. She isn’t sure what she thinks about him being younger than she, and it will take effort for him to prove that he is not the love-em-and-leave-em type.

I listened to an audio copy and the narrators did a great job bringing these characters to life. Their performances gave an extra dimension to the story that I loved. I always love returning to the Titans world, whether it is audio or e-book because of the low-angst, smooth nature of these stories. The characters have a problem they have to overcome and they aren’t interested in playing games to figure things out even if the solution isn’t always obvious to them. It was so much fun seeing teammates and friends on the outskirts of the story, and I always look forward to more from Sawyer and her hockey teams!

Yet another hit in this amazing series by Sawyer Bennett! King is every girls dream guy, and Willa while a hurt soul, will steal your heart in this one! 5 hot hockey stars for this one!
Willa is a doctor, divorced from her controlling husband. When her and her sister take her niece to a hockey practice, and the coach bails on the kids, her sister volunteers her to coach the kids, after all she was a figure skater, how hard can that be! At her first game as coach, she has a dad who is berating his kids play on the ice, and she's had enough, when she confronts the dad, they have words, and then King steps in and lets him know he will be assisting Willa as the coach.
When King spots her having a discussion with the kids dad, he knows he needs to step in. One thing you will learn about him, is that when he see's what he wants, he goes after it. He's looking for his happily ever after and he sees that in Willa, now to just convince her that he is her happily ever after also, is harder than scoring a goal for his team!
Sit back and enjoy as their love story unfolds, you will not be disappointed, Sawyer always finds the perfect match for her characters and I love it!

Audio-That went by fast! Too fast! I didn’t want it to end. The Titan Hockey Franchise does not disappoint and with the buying of a Formula One Racing Team from the UK, I can’t wait to see what SB does with it! King and Willa definitely were a meet cute. Lots of past relationship issues for Willa. Her husband had been verbally abusive, as was her father . She’s been divorced a year and is only looking for casual. King is the opposite. He’s a relationship guy and he falls head over skates for Willa. However his ex girlfriend wants to get back together after two years apart. It’s too late, he’s in love with Willa. There is a lot that goes on and Willa finally comes to her senses. Looking forward to the next Titans adventure.

Audiobook specific: My biggest issue with this book was how the narrator chose to pronounce F1 as F-A (since this is where the f1 series is introduced/ team is bought). I have never heard anyone say FA about F1 (and I am a big F1-fan).

5 star Review King (Pittsburgh Titans #14) by Sawyer Bennett

Audio/eBook:

Every time I read one of these books I fall in love. King is Jack Kingston’s story and is the latest addition to the Pittsburgh Titans series. Willa Montreaux is the woman who captures his attention and his heart.

When King offers to coach the Ice Pups he starts a chain of events. The attraction and connection sizzles between them and as they get to know one another it o lot intensifies.
However a king needs to convince a Willa that thy are worth taking a chance on. The question is will he succeed?

The narration by Robert Hatchett and Erin Mallon was entertaining and they did a fabulous job. Not only did they bring all the romance, humour and passion of the story to life but they did justice to this emotional story with voices that are easy to listen to.
They certainly did justice to the characters and the story that Sawyer Bennett created.

Continuing to love the Pittsburgh Titans! This installment focuses on King and his journey to love. He sees Willa at the local rink where his teammate’s kids are playing on a local team, and when he sees how a parent isn’t treating her well, he steps in, and it changes everything between them. Willa was roped into coaching her niece’s hockey team after the original coach quit and she was previously an accomplished figure skater. Not knowing a think about hockey but wanting to make sure the kids have a good time playing and learning, she confronts a parent who is very demeaning towards his son and not listening to the rules she initially put in place. When King steps in, she has no idea who he is, and while she initially turns down his help to assist in coaching the team, she takes him up on things, especially with him being the first guy to spark her interest after her tumultuous marriage and divorce. I hated how Willa was constantly shutting King down and the prospect of a relationship between them, and ultimately that played a huge role in the breakdown of their relationship combined with what her ex-husband did to her. But I did love how determined King was to show her what could become of them regardless of their age gap. Can’t wait to see who’s next from the team to fall in love!

I really like this series. For this book, I liked the guy and the women. He’s a good guy. She’s worked to move on.
But…. There’s not a lot of chemistry. A drama point was missed to create more intensity in the overall plot. It was just a bit blah….. a HEA wrapped in a neat bow. Just no real conflict or passion. Just…okay.
Easy, quick, and forgettable read for the beach or cabin.

I loved this book and couldn’t stop reading until I finished. Loved getting updates on characters and there’s a surprise wedding. Loved how quickly King falls for Willa. It’s such a fun book. She has some insecurities due to what she went through with her ex husband. Can King get her to open up to the possibility of a serious relationship? There’s some drama towards the end, will she give King a chance? Happy that they got their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Good but I felt like it was the same story I’d heard before. A little repetitive. A little over done. King was sweet and honest and genuine. Willa was insecure and judgemental and not trusting. It was hard to like her especially when she believed the word of her judgemental ex over King when he did nothing to deserve her distrust. The narration was good.

King and Willa😍

Willa is with her sister and niece attending a peewee league hockey practice, when the coach up and quits. Having no takers, Willa steps up to the plate - even though she knows nothing about hockey - she is a former figure skater😳

King witnessing this as well as Willa standing up to a somewhat negative parent at the end…he comes over in a shining moment and offers to coach alongside Willa🥰

King is an unexpectedly refreshing character. Not a player like his teammates, but because of his good looks…could literally have any women in Pittsburgh, but he only has eyes for Willa🙌 A great story and the intrigue around Penn and Rafferty’s “stalker” definitely have me looking forward to their stories❣️

3.25 "Ready to take our tree home" stars!
This was a quickie, as many are in this spin off hockey series, the Pittsburgh Titans, by SB.

My fave series ever by this author is the Cold Fury Hockey series: Alex, Garret, and Van being highlights for me in those group of stories. Van even reappears in this series, lucky me... in Van2 (I will be reading it soon, along with rereading the original story between Van and Simone).

In this installment, King, aka Jack Kingston, is a 25 year old newer recruit to the Pittsburgh Titans, a re-build project team, born out of the tragedy that befell the original team, which has developed into an admirable group and organization of its own. King is still young in his career but old enough to not want the puck bunnies anymore. This sentiment is helped by the older players and coupled players on the team, on which he has made friendships and started to make bonds, seeing future success and building a life. The feeling gets stronger as King, being a fixer and a bit of a caretaker, finds himself taken by a strong women who has apparently taken on a little league hockey team, in her spare time that she has little of, even though she only knows figure skating and not hockey. King doesn't miss the opportunity to offer his services, knowing it is a way to see her again and possibly date her.

What King finds in Willa Montreaux is a woman who is a doctor, a volunteer for not only her niece's little league team but a doctor who does community pro-bono work on the side, while also being a sister who has taken in her down-her-her luck sister, with said niece, in her house, which represents her life after divorce. To Willa, no way should King be interested in her due to her baggage, her past, and finally, most importantly, her age, for Willa is 8 years his senior.

For King, those are just the details that make Willa more fascinating,... and hell no! He is not intimidated by Willa being older than him. Not intimidated by her being a whole doctor either.
Henry Cavill Witcher GIF by NETFLIX

I like the younger man - older woman trope, especially when it is good or really good. King was just good. There is a typical third act and it is daunting that Willa has a douchy ex that rears his head a couple of times. But King makes up for that in one scene (for me) Whoa, did he!
Two Snaps Up GIFs - Find & Share on GIPHY
(**just needed to inject HC in there (like "Come on gal, age ain't nthin but a number")***
It's Willa's characterization of being insecure and easily believing she is not enough, which only annoyed me a little bit. The other parts of the story were Willa and King bonding with the Titans' players and family, Willa and King getting it on ( in mostly sexy , 🌶️ 🌶️ scenes) and King trying to figure out the mystery of his fellow new teammate: Rafferty (the next player in line for an HEA in the series)

Happy Reading

More Pittsburgh Titans Awesomeness! Fabulous Story & Narration🎧

King
Pittsburgh Titans, Book 14
By: Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by: Robert Hatchet, Erin Mallon

I have been with this series from the beginning and have so much love for it, and despite this being the fourteenth book, I still can not get enough of the Pittsburgh Titans, one of Sawyer Bennett’s best series. She created something very special when she created this world, and each addition to the series is just as amazing as the other, and for this book she gives us Jack “King” Kingston’s story. King joined the team and fit right in with the other players and, to be social, he went to the rink to watch Drake’s boys play peewee hockey where he saw her, the one who caught his eye, Willa Montreaux. Willa was with her niece who wanted to play hockey, when the coach just quit on them, and nobody wanted to step up to take his place, so she volunteered to be their coach, although her only experience on the ice was figure skating. King saw she was being hassled by a parent, so he stepped in to help her, though she had it handled. He also offered to help her coach the team, but was reluctant to take him up on that offer because she knew it was not only about coaching, and after being burned by her ex-husband, she did not want to get involved in any relationships, besides he is much younger than her. Except an eight-year age difference is not really a big deal, especially when he was an old soul. I thought these two were great together and for each other, and the chemistry between them was smoking hot and I loved watching them get to know each other and see their relationship grow. As smart as Willa was, her choices of men were not the best, and it left her with insecurities and trust issues, ones that may ruin the relationship they have built. This beautifully written and plotted story has a perfect balance of drama, charm, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another wonderfully captivating story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Robert Hatchet and Erin Mallon did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and I loved how they took their roles and made them their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Mallon aced it as Willa, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her confident demeanor to her vulnerabilities, and Hatchet was just as fabulous as King, swoon worthy while showcasing his caring side and his patience. Both were equally amazing performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ voices and had you feeling each one. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevates this already fabulous story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Jack Kingston is one of the newer players for the Titans and he’s happy to be part of the team and excited about their chances at a Cup. He’s blended well with his teammates, especially the new group. So when he goes to see Drake’s little boys play hockey, he ends up in the middle of a situation where a brand new pee-wee hockey coach is having some trouble with one of the overzealous parents.

Willa Montreaux is a busy doctor, but when her niece's peewee hockey coach quits, she’s the only one willing to take on the team. She’s a former figure skater but knows nothing about hockey, but she just can’t let her niece down. When the pro hockey player jumps in and offers to be her co-coach, she ends up taking him up on his offer.

He is younger at twenty-five and he’s hot, charming, charismatic, talented, and really good with the kids. She’s empathetic, sunny, smart, hard-working, and determined to make this a good season for the little team. Innocent get-to-know-you and hockey education dinners, transition into attraction and a more physical relationship. But she’s got her trust issues and hangups about their ages and their differences. He is not a hook-up kind of guy and is not afraid of a relationship, but he also has to focus on hockey. But sometimes the heart and the body want what they want. He will just have to convince her that he is prepared to win her heart.

This is a sweet. witty, sexy, reverse age gap, he falls first, supposed-to-only-be-a-fling turned romance. I adored King. He is so mature for his age, knows what he wants, and doesn’t want to play games other than on the ice. I really liked Willa too, and I could understand her reservations, but at the same time, I just wanted to yell at my Kindle for her to just take the support that this man was offering because she never had it from a man in her life. Overall, this is a low-angst story without a lot of surprises, but I enjoyed it. I love being back in this world with this team and I always enjoy spending time with these characters. There were teases to Penn and Rafferty's books and I am looking forward to those as well as North's story.

Swoonworthy King is delicious

This review is for both ebook and audio

I was fortunate enough to read along while listening to the audio of KING, book #14 in Sawyer Bennett's Pittsburgh Titans series, and it made my experience thoroughly enjoyable. KING is an age-gap, hockey romance which has one of the most swoonworthy men Sawyer has created. This story is fun, entertaining, and totally romantic, which led me to constantly sighing.

Jack Kingston plays defense for the Pittsburgh Titans. At 25 you would think that he'd be happy chasing the puck bunnies, but not this man, he's more interested in being part of a committed relationship. Former figure skater Willa Montreaux is now a doctor, who has recently divorced from a controlling husband. At 32 she's not looking for a permanent relationship, instead she's content with just casual. When Willa's niece's peewee hockey coach quits, she steps in to help, even though her hockey knowledge is extremely limited. After witnessing Willa's clash with one of the parents, King comes to the rescue and offers his assistance.

Even though there is an age gap between them, Willa and King find themselves enjoying spending time with their little team and with each other. The chemistry between them is palpable, Willa is wary because of her previous relationship and their ages. King is completely smitten with Willa and will do anything for her. He realizes that she has her worries and is determined to show her it means nothing to him. Through all King's sweetness, charm, and genuine care, Willa's walls begin to crumble, but will they fall completely?

The audio narration of KING was perfect. Erin Mallon, one of my favourite narrators, and Robert Hatchet were simply superb, capturing all the emotions, humour, passion, and chemistry of King and Willa. I haven't heard Robert narrate before, but he certainly won me over with his interpretation of King, I could literally see this character and his swoonworthyness (is that even a word?) right in front of me. Erin and Robert have the type of voices I could listen to over and over again.

KING was yet another fabulous addition to the Pittsburgh Titans series. As usual there was the awesome camaraderie of the players and their partners, plenty of humour, and this time, even a surprise wedding!! Rafferty is up next, and Sawyer has set the scene for this book, and I can't wait.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Jack “King” Kingston is one of the newest members of the Titans. Recently traded from the Houston Jams he’s finding his footing in Pittsburgh and finding his place on his new team. King has always been a one-woman-committed-relationship type of guy. His charming personality and handsome looks have woman constantly throwing themselves at him, but King isn’t interested. When he comes across Willa at a pee-wee hockey game he is instantly smitten. Offering his services to help her coach the team, he sees this as a way to get to know her better, but Willa is very much jaded and doesn’t make it easy.

Recovering from a nasty divorce Dr. Willa Montreaux doesn’t see herself every falling in love again. Growing up in an abusive household, and then marrying a man just like her father, she’s pretty sure her judgement when it comes to men is crap. When Jack Kingston not only offers to help her coach her niece’s hockey team but shows interest in her she immediately shoots him down. She’s more than a little interested in him, but there are several things stopping her. Aside from her aversion to any serious relationship, King is several years younger than her.

I enjoyed King and Willa, and they were just what I needed. These were two of the most likeable characters I’ve met in a while. They were very relatable. King was basically a sweetheart. It was refreshing to have a male hero who was well adjusted and not recovering from trauma and/or being a completely misunderstood soul. Don’t get me wrong, I love those types of characters (and I think we may be getting one very soon), but I think King was written perfectly. What I like most about Willa, was she was nothing like I thought she was going to be. I initially thought she was going to be this retired ice skater with a bit of a chip on her shoulder, definitely not a doctor. She wasn’t pretentious or know-it-all. Their story was sweet and cute, and humorous. It was low on drama and angst. The flow was perfect. The dialogue fit them to a tee.

I very much enjoyed their story, but it was a bit heavy on the topic of Penn, especially in the beginning. It’s typical to have other characters introduced in a storyline for their possible storyline, but Penn was pretty present in this book and it had me often focusing on him more than Willa and King. So much so, that I was certain his story would be next; but it’s actually Rafferty we will be getting to know, and this guy looks to be a very interesting character.

4.25stars-KING is the fourteenth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult PITTSBURGH TITANS erotic, hockey romance series. This is twenty-five year old, defenseman Jack ‘King’ Kingston, and thirty-three year old former figure skater turned physician Dr. Willa Montreaux’ story line. KING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Willa and King) KING follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Willa Montreaux never expected to find herself coaching her niece’s little league hockey tea but when the previous coach quit, Willa was volunteered by her sister for the job. Meeting Pittsburgh Titans’ defenseman Jack Kingston was an added bonus when he volunteered himself as assistant coach but Jack is hoping for something more, and Willa struggles with their age different, and demons from the past. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jack and Willa, and the potential fall-out when the past returns demanding a second change.

The world building focuses on the trials and tribulations of little league hockey, and the aggressive parents pushing their kids too hard. We are up close and personal with the demons from Willa’s past, and the return of Jack’s ex pushes Willa out of his life.

The relationship between Willa and Jack begins as co-coaches and friends. Hoping to take their relationship to the next level, Jack begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine but Willa has been burned, and Jack’s past refuses to let go. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including team owner Brienne Norcross and her fiancé Drake McGinn, Brienne’s cousin Tansy Carmichael, several players including Rafferty Abrams, Penn Navarro, Bain and Keira, Stone Dumelin. We are introduced to Willa’s sister Brittany’s and her daughter Izzy, as well as Willa’s ex Scott, and Jack’s ex Emily.

KING is a story of secrets and lies, family and relationships, friendships and love. The premise is honest and animated; the age-gap romance is spicy; the characters are sassy and lively.

**Audiobook Review**

Give me all the hockey defensemen who know what they want and do not play any games to get it. “King” is a romantic, swoony and heartfelt age gap hockey romance that has easily moved up to one of my favorites from the series.

Jack King is one of the new members of the Titans and is loving being a part of this team. They’re all vibing, getting along and all are working towards the playoffs. While at a practice rink one day, he sees the coach of a peewee team struggling with reining the kids. Willa is a doctor not a hockey coach but when the peewee coach quits on her niece’s team, she can’t help but to step in and help. King is instantly taken with Willa but she’s fresh off a divorce and isn’t looking for anything but casual. However, as they spend time together, Willa starts to fall for King’s charm and that he might be one of the good guys.

The way I’m still swooning over King. King is smart, genuine and he doesn’t play around. He’s not a playboy and is someone that loves being in a committed relationship. I loved his honesty and that is the greenest of the green flags. Willa is great and someone that a lot can relate to. She has a terrible ex that cheated on her and that definitely put up some walls around her heart, which I don’t blame her for. I loved how she stepped up to coach her niece’s team even if she had no idea what she was doing, it showed how big her heart is. King and Willa had an instant connection and it only grew stronger as they spent time together. He was the right guy for her to show her that there are good one out there and he was the one for her. I loved having the guys involved in the story and getting to catch up with them especially with the surprise we got, it made my heart so happy. King was the King of communication and he didn’t give up on Willa even when she was doubting herself. Sawyer has set up the story that I think we’ll get at least two more books from this series and I can’t wait.

Robert Hatchett and Erin Mallon narrated this audiobook and I loved listening to them as King and Willa. Robert was passionate with his narration and brought all of King’s wonderful traits alive perfectly. And I’m always happy to listen to Erin as she always does an amazing job bringing each character to life. Her narration was caring and emotional just like Willa.

While I loved this book, it also felt a bit off from what I’m used to with this author. If I wasn’t so familiar with Sawyer Bennett’s work, I would just say I loved it and call it a day. I wouldn’t notice any problems. But I feel I have to express what my thoughts were while I was reading this story and that is what I was thinking.

As I said, I still loved this story. King and Willa are fantastic together. King is amazing. He is patient, kind, sexy, understanding, and great with kids. Not to mention his movie star good looks and killer body. King is the whole package. So much so that he gets teased by his teammates about all the women constantly hitting on him, many times without him even noticing. Unlike a lot of the other young hockey players, he is not looking for quick hook-ups. He has always been the type to enjoy being in a committed relationship. This scares the crap out of Willa as they get to know each other.

Willa grew up in an abusive household, yet somehow ended up married to a verbally and emotionally abusive man. She doesn’t trust her instincts any longer. So though her instincts are drawing her to King, she keeps pushing against that pull.

With both Willa’s abusive ex and King’s ex who had been his childhood sweetheart popping their heads up at different times in this book, you know one or both of them are going to cause trouble for this couple. I didn’t trust anyone! When things come to a head, Willa has to take a good look at herself and King and decide what she is willing to risk. King has to dig deep for the patience he seemed to have in spades but is now running low on.

It’s funny that some of the things that I love about this book are also things I think had this story not flowing how I had expected. We get a lot of sweet updates on past couples. It’s all done organically and I love to see Van so happy in his life. Some new things are happening for Brienne and Drake that will most likely spawn a new series from this author in the future. Maybe it was my headspace when I read this book because I really do love these updates and expansions of the universe when they are done correctly, and they were done correctly. Regardless, I’m as eager as usual for the next story to be told.

King is book 14 in the Pittsburgh Titans series and follows a recently traded for player on his adventure loving an older woman.

Willa is a former ice skater, who is now a doctor. She goes to her niece, Izzy's, hockey practice to support her. When the coach walks out, the parents are faced with a decision: someone mans up and becomes the new coach or the team is disbanded.

Willa is lovingly coerced by her sister to take over the coach position. But she knows nothing about hockey. Unfortunately, she runs in to one dad who is constantly calling out commands and criticism to his son on the team. Yep, you guessed it. There is a confrontation. He did not want to coach the team, but he wants to ride his son to do better and be better.

King watches this confrontation. He confronts the dad and they have a conversation. He manages to diffuse the dad and ends up helping to coach the pee wee team. Lucky Willa.

Willa was previously married and it was not a good relationship. Unfortunately, she still works with her ex-husband. Not an ideal situation, but they manage.

King was in a previous relationship until Emily no longer wanted to be. He tried to understand, but it was not meant to be. Until she reenters his life, under a guise.

Emily realizes she made a mistake and now wants Jack (aka King) back. She calls him. She texts him. And she even shows up to his hotel in Chicago when he is there for a game. She is using a family illness to gain more time with him and his sympathy.

King does not see what Emily is up to. He thinks they are just friends. But when she shows up unannounced, he knows he needs to do something. Unfortunately, Willa's fears are triggered and she walks out.

Will King be able to convince Willa he is not cheating on her? And what about her issue with their age difference? And what about her ex and his comments that King is a player and cheating on her when he is on the road?

This is my second Erin Mallon book in a row. I went a long time without listening to her and I forgot how much I enjoy her voice. Although not new to me, I do not listen to a lot of Robert Hatchett. I found his voice smooth and very easy to listen. to. I think you will also enjoy him.
