The moment he meets the detective, a former Navy SEAL, he is determined to help the handsome, blond hunk explore his own submissive nature but Cassidy is having none of it. As Cassidy closes in on the killer, he succumbs to Teak’s charms, finding that it’s okay to give up control and let Zack take charge. Join the men as they flush out a killer while trying not to become victims themselves.

When reading M/M romance books, the story that goes along with the romance, whether it be a mystery, battle, crime, medical drama, etc. is usually secondary to me and I usually don't pay all that much attention to it unless it is utterly too fascinating or too stupid to ignore. I don't nit-pick over inconsistencies like some do. I suspend disbelief quite easily to allow myself to enjoy the M/M interaction, which is the reason I am reading the book in the first place. With Silver Ties, the story about the serial killer got in the way of my enjoyment of the romance and I had to knock a couple stars off my rating. I didn't feel like I was nit-picking at all when I say that the MCs being involved in a relationship during this case was so unethical that it absolutely made me cringe when they were together. And the outcome of the case was so anti-climatic that I was turning the pages, waiting for the author to give us another, hidden perpetrator because the one we got was too damn easy to guess right from the beginning of the story. And, damn it all, because if it weren't for the silliness of the crime aspect of the book, I would have loved these characters! They were hot together!
So, if you can REALLY, REALLY block out the entire crime case or if crime cases don't get to you at all, I can recommend this book to you because the two MCs were smoking hot and the sex was amazing. We also get a lovely HEA. But I can only give it 3 stars because the serial killer storyline bugged the hell out of me. Sad face.
Unica pecca secondo me?
I have read quite a few books by Patricia and I really like the way she portrays her characters within the BDSM lifestyle. This is the first audio I have listened to of one of her books and I wasn’t left disappointed. The mix of a good story and excellent narrator made it a winner.
When Detective Cassidy Ryan first meets Zachary Teak he may find the other man attractive but he also finds him arrogant and he takes an instant disliking to him. Their first meetings do not go well with each battling to take charge of each other. Zach is a wealthy and highly respected Dom within the BDSM community who owns and runs an online club. When his customers start turning up on the streets murdered and mutilated Cassidy is the investigating officer and one of his tasks is to interview Zach.
Although the story involves capturing a murderer that is almost secondary to the push and pull relationship that builds between Cassidy and Zach. A curious Cassidy finds himself intrigued by the lifestyle Zach lives and that interest suddenly finds him far more involved with the other man than he should be.
This story has a little bit of everything but most of all it has two men who can’t run from their attraction. Cassidy has to find his murderer but more importantly he has to admit to himself that he is brave enough to take what he wants from Zach, a man he is fast falling in love with.
My View – Narration:
Peter Brooke did a fantastic job with this narration. His depiction of the characters matched up exactly as I imagined them and made it a very easy book to listen to. Someone who I would definitely listen to again and again.
I love Patricia Logan and have been reading her back list but couldn't resist jumping ahead as this sounded so good and I wasn't disappointed. If you want a nice piece of romantic fluff then this isn't for you, the murders are gory and the relationship between the main characters is hot, steamy and involves restraints and riding crops!! I LOVED IT!! I loved the way Zach and Cassidy's relationship starts with Cass being professionally forceful before realising that he just wants to submit to Zach in every way, and Zach making VERY sure Cass knows whats involved and all this whilst trying to stop a serial killer. Just a fantastic read!! And I had worked out exactly who the bad guy was ..... until it turned out to be someone else, oh well we can't all be Sherlock Holmes!! Oh and right at the beginning of the book the author has included some very tongue in cheek reviews of her work from a couple of her friends (possibly ex friends now lol) so it took me a while to even start reading the story as I was laughing so hard!!
Silver Ties was an interessting BDSM read. I liked the idea of a cop being seduced by the owner of a website related to the crime he is investigating. However I had the feeling the the story is moving a little bit too fast, that the crime/cop setting is getting lost in the fast pace of the story. I liked the main characters and enjoyed reading about Cass submittion. I also liked the fact that the author offers switching POV's making the story and the characters that much more realistic. If the crime story would have been developped a litte further, I'm sure I would have enjoyed this story even more!
The toughest part of rating a book like this is my internal struggle to consider how much is a subjective response, one of taste and style, versus an objective declaration of a less than stellar work. Logan has many published works to her credit, is active with social media marketing and promotion, and seems to have clearly achieved a loyal and passionate fan base. Thus, I realize I may tread in sacrilegious waters with this.
The primary lapse which led me to call it quits after frustratingly reading 58% was the inability to explain what motivated this LAPD detective to immediately drop his pants for a prime suspect, with little attempt to examine his background or clear his name. Other supporting evidence for this low rating includes egregious inconsistencies in the urban LA setting, a near absence of common law enforcement practices and procedures, repeated missing capitalization and punctuation, and an extreme-potentially even offensive-caricature of an African-American homeless woman who repeatedly exclaims "Lawdy."
For a detective to drive from Brentwood, to a crime scene in downtown LA, then return his partner back to the Brentwood Division to make phone calls defied both geography and a basic understanding of criminal investigations. I had to double check that this title came out in 2013, because of outdated references to "virtual space" (cyberspace?) and the "bank of terminals" in the office conference room which streamed live feeds from playrooms in the building. This is a subscription service that we're expected to believe competes successfully with Grindr and Snapchat, allowing members to log in to a webcam and then type chat messages as a streaming commentary as they watch a scene unfold? And the owner turns over all of these archived messages without a warrant?
The stereotypically stock character of the blonde bimbo working for the online adult streaming service was so vapid as to be boringly misogynistic. If the male MCs can have lives of adventure and professional success while exploring the lifestyle, why do the women need to be written as these simplistic etch-a-sketches that deliver coffee, obliviously dangle boobs in front of gay men, and giggle?
My desire to step away from the pain that was generated only by constant frustration at the writing peaked when the detective told the website owner and dom: "we" had no idea if the victims were tortured while alive or post mortem. Any layperson who watches crime dramas knows enough about modern forensics to expect the CSI at the crime scene to pose a probably answer to this, and the coroner to have it definitively answered in her report.
I plead ignorance to understanding the draw to this series. Published the same year, K C Wells' Collars and Cuffs series (An Unlocked Heart) - or even S M Johnson's Dungeon series (Above the Dungeon) from 2011 - are recommended instead.
Detective Cassidy Ryan is in the middle of a murder investigation when he meets Zachary Teak, presidents of DOMZ.com. A handsome man who exudes sexiness with every word spoken, Zack has been a Dom for over 20 years always willing to help a sub achieve his pleasure but never letting himself get involved. In comes Cassidy and all his usual resolve is gone. Cassidy is a strong, hard-headed man who longs to be in a relationship, especially now that he has reached forty. He is not out in the police department but that hasn't stopped him from hooking up and enjoying his sexuality. However, these days that hasn't been enough. He feels like a part of him is missing and only when he meets Zack does he feel like his life is near completion. Will Zack and Cassidy's connection survive beyond the playroom or will they both find what they long for?
I enjoyed Silver Ties thoroughly. From the start Patricia Logan did a great job of capturing my attention by throwing me directly into the murder mystery and its investigation. Then she went a step further and introduced me to Cassidy who immediately caught my attention. Something about him drew me in. Although he came across as such a macho type man he had a vulnerable side to him that kept me interested because I wanted to see more from this side of him. Of course, Zack was just as engaging as Cassidy. He was cocky and full of himself, but little by little and with every scene he did, be it with Cassidy or other subs, I could glimpse that tender side of him. Something I wanted him to embrace.
The author did a great job of developing these characters, their connection and the mystery of the murders. I enjoyed seeing Cassidy embrace his submissive side while Zack allowed Cassidy into his heart. I found that the BDSM scene were erotic and well written and the murder mystery aspect of the story well executed with a resolution to the plot that was written and delivered for its utmost impact.
Silver Ties is an enthralling, sensual story of letting go and giving in. Although the third book in the Silver series Silver Ties can be read as a stand alone. I am looking forward to reading the previous books in the series since I enjoyed this title so much.
I received this book from Westburg Publishing through Manic Readers in exchange of my honest opinion.
Well this was something for sure I am not a hardcore Bdsm fan and this touched my boundaries a little bit , it was rough on the edges so to speak . Miss Logan sure knows though how to keep you fascinated and interested in what is happening. The connection that you feel with the characters is intens there is definitely a way to relate to anyone of them. Zack the big bad dom but deep down inside so much more . Cass the hot hunky detective who doesn’t even know how submissive he feels till he gets pushed to it.
The scene’s were a bit much for me and although I have read and searched out some of the Bdsm genre I felt that it was missing something. One of the things that bothered me was the mention of the bareback video that Zack did and no reference to it later not by Cass or anything why mention it then?
The Chemistry between both men is fantastic despite the fact that it feels it goes very quickly between them. That is I believe my main concurn with the story , that it went so fast also in solving the case it felt like “oops there it is” and to me that is a shame. I find myself really enjoying the writing style of Miss Logan and I am very much looking forward to the master boys series.

Wow! I cannot imagine there are enough words in the world to say how much I love this book! As I'm been working my way through Ms. Logan's "Master's Boys" series, buying the books as soon as she releases them, this book was recommended to me so I could see the beginning of Zack Teak and Cassidy Ryan's relationship. I could not stop reading this book! I finished it in a day and half, interrupted only by sleep and time taken out from reading to take care of my Master before He left on business. As always, I deeply appreciated the psychological dimensions Patricia brings to her characters, especially the Dominants and submissives, who I find too often to be flat characters in the hands of lesser authors who don't understand BDSM. I had tears in my eyes as I read the epilogue, how beautiful it was to watch Zack and Cassidy connect on such a deep level. I enjoyed the variety of BDSM activities shown during the sex scenes in this book; it was fascinating to read about urethral sounds. The mystery of the serial killer running alongside the burgeoning romance between the men was an exciting mystery.
A serial killer is preying upon gay men in Los Angeles. Cassidy Ryan is out to stop them. Zachary Teak, is what seems to be the only link as all the murders have one thing in common, the BDSM website he owns. The men go on a very hot and steamy ride with Ryan trying to get a handle on his attraction to Teak while Teak try's to get a handle on giving up control. All the while the men try to flush out a killer while trying not to become victims themselves.
My favorite thing about this book was the dynamics that make up the relationship between Ryan and Teak,to me the murders came in second place! If you like hot, sexy men, and BDSM then this is the book for you! All I can say is more please! Again Patricia Logan has done it. The relationship between Cassidy and Teak is uber intense and very hot. Then as they try to find there way through a very new BDSM relationship they also have to catch a serial killer before he claims his next victim. This book was very intense, very hot, and a definite must read! 5 Stars Adriana D'Apolito

I read masters boys before this one by mistake but i still enjoyed reading how Zach and Cassidy got together...i loved this one the best x
I just read this again for the second time...this time in paperback....felt good to have it in my hand properly...I just love Zachery Teak..He is by far one of my favourite Doms....Cassidy Ryan just melted for him....They were perfect together..Just really wished it had been longer...was over way too quick x
I could not put this story down until I knew who the killer was! It kept me in suspense, while also enjoying the relationship between Cass and Zach develop. Great story, Patricia!
Did he do it? or not? someone is murdering people it leaves back to one person, did he do it or not? follow DET. CASSIDY RYAN AS HE FIND OUT WHO DID, THE MAN HE LOVES OR SOMEONE ELSE.
This was awful. I appreciate the work the writer put into it but it needed more time working on it, a huge expansion of the case and a good editor. It was little more than erotica with a horrific disgusting plot and they don’t go together well. A.J. Rose’s Power Exchange series did it well but it takes finesse. BDSM may be violent but it doesn’t make it match up to what was happening to these victims. Maybe the author was going for contrast but failed. The crime was too similar to BDSM play until it went awry for the victim.
This is out of place in my review but I wanted to put something positive near the beginning: I did like that the Dom said he’d had all the toys used on him. I think it’s really a good thing that a Dom knows what his sub is feeling. I don’t know how common that is. I also liked that he allowed his sub to top him when they weren’t in a scene.
The investigation was a complete disaster; Cassidy wasn’t there for the arrest or questioning! The detective work was almost nonexistent, the first real work happened three fourths of the way into the book and it was something that should have been caught early on. There wasn’t even an explanation as to how the detective found the club. He interviewed Teak alone despite the high profile case//he should have at least had his partner with him. There are ways to accomplish the same voyeurism with someone else oblivious in the scene. He didn’t interview anyone else. (Oh, and a user’s IP address is rarely static. I think usually it just points to the Internet provider who has access to mor info.) Which was fine for me as the reader because the dialog was very stilted, especially during BDSM scenes.
Cassidy was willing to dress as a sub on their third meeting in order to fit in at the club before they were even together. It was odd to me that the Dom was barely dressed. He wore a g-string and chaps, a harness and a leather cap. I’m picturing The Village People. I thought thongs and their ilk were for the sub, them being on display making them more vulnerable.
There was an effort to make the book inclusive racially which I appreciated but they were all secondary characters with just a couple of lines if any at all. One exception was a close friend who I think was Native since his name was. But there was an elderly Black womanly saying “lawdy” several times in one short paragraph like some period piece with slaves.
The women had a little more presence and one of them was Asian. But a female detective was young and had to pass the case off to the more senior detectives. The secretary was of course a woman and vapid at that and the IT guy was of course just that—a guy. The coroner was female, but of course she flirted outrageously and incredibly inappropriately with Cassidy. Only the FBI agents were competent women. The profile made no sense though. They didn’t have enough information
It’s pretty obvious that most if not all of this author’s BDSM experience is from fiction. A St Andrew’s cross is an X not a T. There was almost no aftercare after a scene, just a hug and a little praise. The bindings were tight, no worry about numbness or nerve damage. You don’t go into sub space from an orgasm when the only other thing BDSM-ish is being bossed around a little. You aren’t automatically in subspace when you’re in a scene. And if doing so was normal to you, it wouldn’t suddenly explain the appeal of the BDSM lifestyle. Safe words are a requirement even in a very safe scene because it could be emotionally stressful and the president of a BDSM club would know that.
Teak admitted he charged for his sexual Dom services and that is prostitution. Belonging to a club is one thing but directly charging? So weird to admit to a detective. Teak also said
"I didn’t kill off my members! I’ve never killed anyone in my entire life!"
I should hope not. What a weird thing to say.
Getting involved with Teak wouldn’t just derail his career, any evidence found relating to what Teak provided would probably not be allowed in court. His partner was right and had no need to apologize for his ardor. And Cassidy did more than that. He revealed to Teak information/evidence about the case.
This was obviously an excuse to write an intense BDSM story but both the murder (I knew at once who it was as soon as he was mentioned) and the love story. They fell in love without ever talking or doing anything other than have sex.
I’m not planning on reading anything else by this author.
FourandHalfStars I loved the story line and the way Patricia wrote the characters. They were very believable and realistic. This is the first of Patricia Logan's books I've read and/or listened to and I must say I can't wait to read more of her books. I will say that there were parts that had a lot of repetitious words and it would make me have to stop and listen to a part again or at least impeded the flow of the story.
The audiobook was very well done. Although there were times I didn't exactly care for the narrators tone as he changed between characters. In particular, the airhead secretary. He'd occasionally use the same tone and it made me cringe, although I suspect part of that was part of the idea behind the secretary, it was the other times that it came out that distracted me from the story.
Overall, I would love to read Patricia's books and listen to the narrator again. It was a great book to listen to.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

FourandHalfStars Cassidy Ryan is a beautiful blonde homicide detective hunting a twisted serial killer. Zachary Teak is a professional Dom running an online BDSM club. When the investigation takes Cassidy to Zack’s club, the detective doesn’t quite know whether to arrest Zach for murder or let the Dom fuck him.
This is the first suspense story I’ve read from Patricia Logan and I loved it. The men are hot, the murders are grizzly, the clues are carefully constructed and the murderer remains elusive. Supporting characters are well developed and there are brief cameo appearances from other Logan men.
The relationship between Zack and Cassidy is perilous. Zack might be a serial killer - he is a professional sex worker - and Cassidy knows he should stay away. But Zack helps Cassidy understand his naturally submissive nature and makes him feel cared for.
Patricia Logan writes Cassidy’s initiation into the BDSM lifestyle perfectly. The scenes are hot and sometimes intense, but Logan initiates her readers just as carefully as Master Z prepares the good detective. This is a very sexy BDSM 101!
The only thing keeping this from a 5* rating is the ending. What starts as a murder mystery with a touch of romance becomes a romance where one character happens to be a detective. After following Detective Ryan’s case from the initial crime scenes, I expected more of a climactic ending.

This book was so amazing I just couldn't put it d own. The writing was so descriptive you could visualize everything. Besides the gruesome murder plot we are also taken into the life of a Dom. The murders in themselves were a great story, very detailed, kept you guessing till the reveal. The life of the Dom had to take some investigating into, to make it seem so real. The sex scenes were very hot!
Zach was the Dom and I found him very tender and loving to his subs. Cassidy, so negative at the beginning. But it was so touching how he was willing to try new things with Zach even though he was scared. He trusted Zach not to hurt him, that just made them feel so real. I loved how intense the author made the vibes that passed between them.
There was only one thing that bugged me, it was the reference "boy" that Zach called Cassidy. Even though I personally didn't like that, it didn't change my mind that this book deserves 5 stars. Patricia Logan excelled at telling this story, I totally enjoyed it.
I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
I have to say from the start this is a hardcore BDSM book with a solid, graphically detailed murder mystery wrapped around the budding relationship between Zach and Cassidy. Definitely not a story for the faint of heart, as the violence takes center stage on the first page.
There is a disturbed serial killer roaming the dark alleys and abandoned buildings in Los Angeles, leaving a slew of bodies without all their members in his wake. Detective Cassidy Ryan is in charge of the case and finds himself at the offices of one very large, sexy and brooding Zachery Teak, owner of the website DOMZ.com. The common thread of all the victims they've found thus far is the BDSM fueled website. At first Cassidy is put off by Teak's overbearing and self assured attitude, but once he sees the softer side of the Dom, his dislike morphs into a strong attraction.
Zach's dominate soul quickly hones in on Cassidy's submissive nature and uses it to his full advantage. Cassidy finds himself unable to say no to the man, and willingly giving himself over to Zach who shows him how good being controlled can be. But their budding romance hinders the investigation, especially since Zach has not yet been ruled out as a suspect. And then they find a couple more bodies, and again the common thread is DOMZ.com. Can Cassidy see past his overwhelming attraction to Zach and do his job, solve the case, even if the killer turns out to be the last person Cassidy suspects.
Oh my, this book was disturbing. Seriously graphic both in content and the writing. While I did not care much for the darker side of Cassidy and Zach's relationship when in full on BDSM mode, including ties, spankings and "Sir, no Sir." I found myself rooting for them to find a way to co-exist when Zach let go of his dominate nature and actually loved Cassidy. The graphic nature of the murders seriously overshadowed the love story, disturbingly detailed crime scenes and though you know from the first chapter that someone at DOMZ.com is involved, you just don't know who, or why. That is the mystery that Cassidy has to focus on and solve.
If you are a fan of GA Hauser's darker romances like Naked Dragon and the Fifty Shades of gay type BDSM stories, then I think you are going to really sink your teeth into this book. Narrated by Peter B Brook, it's my first ride with Brook but I really loved the way he voiced the characters. He was able to nail that cocky, self assured tone for Zach but then he could reel it back down to clearly convey Cassidy's almost shy and unsure tones. And oh my, he really got down and dirty when the guys were getting down and dirty, including every moan, groan and sultry uttered plea from Cassidy.
While BDSM is not my favorite genre, this book wasn't all bad, it was actually very intriguing with the style of writing, subject matter and content. Again, just be aware of the content before you dive in. If you have an issue with stories that include bondage, apparent forced sex and possible rape, then you might want to consider and carefully read the synopsis and the reviews.
Continua a leggere...

I so loved this book. I know it is not Patricia Logan's latest work but I heard that this was a fabulous story and decided to give it a go. This book has a great story. It contains everything I like in a story...a little suspense with a great hot sexy detective, plus one helluva smokin' Dom!! What more can you ask for when you love a good BDSM read. The mystery of a serial killer was brilliantly written and the most of the time I felt like I was at the actual crime scenes. These scenes were at time, pretty gruesome and I felt as if I would loose my own breakfast just reading them. The details just made the story come to life for me.
The main characters were so sexy. The detective, Cassidy, is investigating a crime that is connected to an online site called Domz.com. During this investigation his path crosses with owner and (seriously Hot) Dom, Zack. Cassidy is indifferent to this lifestyle and views Zack as just this typical pornographer. Little did he know that once he witnessed a little bit of Zack in complete "DOM" mode his whole outlook was gonna change. Zack has never been one for relationships but one look at Cassidy has him thinking differently. These two MC's have sizzling chemistry and as a reader you will notice it on their first meeting. Once Zack sees that Cass is a sub and he doesn't even realize it, Zack just vows to make him his. The only problem is that Cassidy must be careful because Zack is a prime suspect in his major case.
I adored the tenderness in Zack as a Dom. You always read about how badass the Dom is first and then you see the TLC in the Dom. In Silver Ties you witness Zack as great DOM but you get to feel his tenderness in his very first scene with a client. He is patient yet firm with Cassidy while he was earning his trust as a Dom and lover. It made me just fall for him...Which I did LOL. Cassidy was a little timid as a sub but I loved his courage to just "go for it". He was confident and not scared to just let his attraction to Zack lead him to love. This book was a story that will keep you interested until the final pages and will have you wanting more from Zack and Cassidy. If you haven't read this one then just go get it and give it a read. I don't think you'll regret it at all.
My Review: This was a really good book with the unlikely relationship between Cassidy and Zack. I think one of the reasons I liked it so much was because Cassidy was so against the relationship and what being involved with Zack would mean for him. Zack is a professional Dom....he performs as a Dom live on the internet, which goes against pretty much everything Cassidy stands for as a law enforcement officer. But Cassidy finds himself mesmerized by Zack and his incredible power and allure. Zack calls for the sub inside Cassidy that he never knew was there.
To complicate matters, men that belong to Zack's club are being horribly mutilated and murdered. Cassidy doesn't think that Zack is involved, but it's possible that he could be so it's incredibly unprofessional for Cassidy to be sleeping with him. He's also very much in the closet when it comes to the police force. It would hurt his career if it was known that he was a gay man.
There are so many reasons, good ones, why he shouldn't become involved with Zack, but he just can't help himself. As a reader, I love that. That undeniable, irresistible attraction that the characters can't escape. There is also a horrific murderer on the loose. My single complaint is that I think the drama with the serial killer could have been ramped up to make this a really suspenseful read too.
But overall, it was really good and I enjoyed stepping into Zack and Cassidy's lives.
1. Basic police procedures during a homicide were not followed. 2. The homicide detective engaged in an unethical relationship with a possible suspect, Zack who was the president of DOMZ who is also a Dom....who actually should have been a suspect if the detective would have done his job and investigated him and checked for his alibi for the murders. However, his partner Mike did a few days later because he was worried he would get emotionally hurt by Zack due to him being a sex worker. 3. During their first scene, Zack gets angry and yells at detective for trying to jack off while he's giving Zack a blow job. Tells him he better learn the rules or he's going to get it. The rules of a scene, including the use of safewords, were not explained to the detective (who is a complete noob to BDSM play) before they engaged in sex. It wasn't until a chapter or so later during their next scene. Some Dom Zack turned out to be. Oh and I never saw how Zack thought the detective was a sub in the beginning. He showed no submissive behavior. The first time they met, the detective stared Zack down....kept eye contact w/o once looking away. And Zack immediately thought he was sub material? How so? Maybe if he looked down or away which would be conceding to Zack but he didn't. Made no sense to me.
This story was a hot mess all around. It would have been much better if these two met in a bar and decided to explore each other w/o the unrealistic serial killer back story.
(i am copying and pasting my review from audible.com here so i'm leaving in the narrator review)
i absolutely love this narrator (and that's high praise from me). his various pitches, accents and inflections made listening to the multitude of characters easier to follow and made listening to the story much more interesting. i typically do not like audiobooks partially because i'm very 'nit picky' when it comes to the narration. i definitely would recommend this listening to any book mr. brooke narrates.
as for the story, i'm not a huge fan of bdsm so this possibly could have been a 5 star read for someone who does like it. when we first meet cassidy he appears to have a dominant personality which zeke finds to be a personal challenge. zeke thinks under cassidy's tough facade he really wants to be submissive. their chemistry is explosive right from the beginning as are their personality clashes. because this story focuses primarily on the D/s piece of the story, it is easy to overlook any technical issues a reader might have with the murder investigation.
overall this is definitely a book i would recommend to fans of the bdsm world.
