My Minotaur Daddy

Rate this book
What do you do when a beautiful hot mess walks into your bar?

Recently separated from his two-timing ex and hell-bent on self-destruction, the fae-born Skylar Larkspur decides to drown his sorrows at Church, a local borderlands bar and known hotspot for rough-and-tumble halflings. Having abandoned his posh apartment and with his coin purse sadly lacking, Skylar needs the extra cash that pickpocketing drunk patrons can afford him. He doesn’t expect to be caught red-handed by the bar’s hot-as-hellfire leather daddy owner.

As the minotaur offspring of a bull and a maiden, Hierophant “Hiero” Wolfsbane has always had a hard time fitting in. Even as the owner of a prosperous bar for magical misfits and rogues, his lovers tend to fixate on his larger-than-average *horns* before deciding to hit it and quit it. Then he meets the lovely but damaged fae who needs a Daddy in the worst way.

Skylar thinks Hiero is the perfect rebound to help him leave his ex behind, while Hiero wants to build a life with the elusive fae. Is it true that the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else? Will Skylar steal Hiero’s heart, along with his coin purse?

MY MINOTAUR DADDY is an MM romantasy formerly attached to the multi-author series TALES FROM THE TAROT and now re-released as part of Laura Lascarso’s TALES OF THE ARCANE. Each standalone novel in this series ends in an HEA. My Minotaur Daddy features a Daddy/boy dynamic and male pregnancy. Please see the interior description for a complete list of content warnings.

- minotaur + fae
- Daddy/boy
- hurt x comfort
- found family

In need of a fresh start after being ditched by his cheating ex, Skylar heads to Dragonback Mountains and drowns his sorrows at Church, the local bar. Short on cash, Skylar plans on doing a little pickpocketing to help him get by while having his fun, but gets caught by bar's gorgeous owner, Hiero.

The pair have great chemistry that turns into a hot night together, but with Skylar getting out of a bad relationship and Hiero looking to settle down, the pair decide to stick it out as friends. Only being friends is nearly impossible with the tension between them, and Skylar and Hiero strike up a no strings Daddy/boy relationship for as long as Skylar decides to stick around.

I felt so bad for both Skylar and Hiero, both of them just needed someone who wanted to stick around for the long haul, but were both too used to being cast aside for one reason or another. Their friendship and relationship was so sweet, and I adored how loving and patient Hiero was with Skylar as he grew into his own.

My Minotaur Daddy was seriously so adorable, with fantastic spice, and was yet another wonderful addition to the Tales from the Tarot series!

Surprisingly sweet, kinky love story between a fae who has never been treated right and a Minotaur daddy who just wants to have boy of his own to spoil!

Tags: evil ex, MCs have been cheated on by previous partners in the past, MC had abusive parents growing up (neglect), had to sell his body for food, found family, bar setting, surprise pregnancy, breeding kink, slight exhibitionism kink, teasing fisting but not delivering, maybe a few too many euphemisms for the faes anus (definitely), big hairy man appreciation, huge dick, motorcycling together, being woken with a blowjob (without talking about consent on the matter before), tail play and many more but I want to be good at keeping up with reviews so I’m not getting my kindle from upstairs now and just leaving it at this :D

NSFW infos:
- Big Minotaur, tops, Daddy
- Smaller, effeminate fae with long braided hair and a love for crop tops and pretty underwear with slits (wings) bottoms, discovers what it’s like to be Daddy’s good boy

Ok...LOVED IT!...let me add this to the list of favs in this series...Tales from the Tarot. Super HOT...super fun and super wonderful. Skylar and his minotaur daddy Hiero chemistry was explosive and their romance was sweet and sexy. Absolutely loved their journey to their forever after....of course there were some bumps...a little miscommunication...a douche canoe of an ex and a nasty fae queen. All in all a fun sexy kinky read...if you love daddy/boy, sexy fae and hot minotaur...this is the romance for you.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

“I can be your whore, your cum- sucking slut, your baddest bitch. You can use me however you want, stud, and discard me when you’re finished.”

3.5 stars rounded up for creative tail play and gaping holes, and a vegetarian minotaur with a big breeding kink.

This was just lighthearted and fluffy, with some dirty talk and horn-grabbing. Listen, I am here for the tail play. Tail-spanking, big dick - will it fit, cockwarming, and praise.

Both MCs have a history of dating the wrong types and are slow to trust and hope for more. FWB that obviously means more with a natural Daddy/boy relationship. Light, kinky fun, with a lot of breeding kink talk.

What I do not appreciate is teasing about fisting and not delivering! I wanted the anal knuckle sandwich scene, damnit.

“Safeword?" I asked before we got in too deep.
“Succotash.”

Like dipping my dick into a vat of warm honey, I didn’t know where he fit all that cock, but I’d swear I could see my shaft moving under the tautness of his abdomen.

I have always wanted to read a nicely written Minotaur romance. Well, perhaps one day, because this one sucks.

This felt like sex first, plot second from the very very chapter. There is basically no interesting interaction between both main characters that isn’t dirty-talk banter.

My Minotaur Daddy is the sweetest low-angst story of two sad men who just want to belong and find someone to love them for who they are.

Sad boy Skylar is a fae running from the memories of his neglectful ex and haunted by a lifetime of being treated as worthless and expendable. I wanted to wrap him in a thousand blankets! He survives by pickpocketing and drinking, sometimes at the same time.

Skylar ends up in Heirophant’s bar looking for more money and ways to forget. Heiro is a sizzling leather daddy minotaur who has always been unlucky in love but has the biggest heart. He can’t let Skylar steal from his customers but after speaking with the fae he can’t get him out of his mind either. As they continue to run into each other and sparks fly, they both learn to be vulnerable with each other and start to imagine a future together as the perfect Daddy/boy pairing.

I loved Skylar and Heiro so much. Skylar puts on a good front but all he wants is someone to love and devote himself to. He struggles to believe anyone could really want him but he has so much to offer! Watching him learn to start valuing himself and blossom under his Daddy’s care was so special.

Heiro was the perfect patient and understanding Daddy. He listened to Skylar and took his anxiety seriously, never judging him for his past or letting his own worries get the best of him. The two of them struggled at times to communicate what they really wanted but I think it was just Heiro trying to give Skylar all the time he needed and it didn’t affect my enjoyment at all.

The spice was amazing, lots of fantastic breeding kink and dirty talk that will really raise your temperature! Heiro was all Dom when he needed to be (tails come in handy for impact play) and all sweetheart when his boy needed a cuddle.

Overall I really enjoyed My Minotaur Daddy and thought it was a great entry in the Tales from the Tarot multi-author series!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and these are my honest opinions.

Second guessed this one, not a fan of the cover. Minotaur/Fae rebound daddy/boy rebound smut with a prince that doesn't know how to go away, parental trauma and hurt/comfort mpreg. The Owner in this one was pretty much a convenience store. Easy story to get into, but did start to drag a bit. The miscommunication on the pregnancy angle made me curse, but I'm glad it was handled correctly. Not so sure about the paternity test getting scrapped. Don't trust that queen at all.

⛰️🌺 In Dragon Mountains, its springtime, and love is in the air... or trouble. 😅
The big guy, Hiero, had a weakness, a weakness for troubled "boys". And the newcomer boy, who just walked into his bar, breathes trouble... dark long hair, pale skin, silvery shadows tattoos, pointed teeth, and a beautiful lavender eyes. He didn't even think sexy fae would change his life. With an abandoned past, orphaned, raised by a kind monk, later adopted by a clan of wolves (now his true family).

Hiero couldn't help but still feel an outsider at times. It also didn't help that the whenever he wanted something serious, his relationships always ended.
So, he never expected this sassy, gorgeous fae to crave the same things, a stable relationship, and turned out his "dream boy" was perfect.

Hiero: "I shot her a withering look and said " Were friends".
Enid: "Uh huh. I always stare at my friends like I want to throw them over my shoulder and carry them back to my den."

──────────────────
Hiero: "...Hotter than sin and sweeter than summer rain, Skyler Larkspur was a rare find indeed."

🥀Skyler needs a place to heal. After he finishing a two-year toxic, imbalanced relationship, he needs to find himself and, for once, be himself. Away from everything, even the laws and Emerald Valley discrimination.
One night, when he is approached by the hot leather Daddy with sweet brown eyes, wavy chestnut hair and horns.

He thought Hiero was just a good distraction, but falling in love wasn't part of the plan.
With the trauma of his life (unloved, hungry, toxic relationships) he thought it was possible to trust his heart without getting hurt (he and Hiero).
After enduring such a harsh life, it was difficult for him to accept the love, devotion, and respect that Hiero offered.

The weight of his past, the emotions he was experiencing, and the hopes for a future together made it hard for him to believe in his own worth, to see himself as perfect just as he was.
But Hiero was always there to remind him.

Skyler: "...I felt like a big, empty house-the ghosts of my former self had come back to haunt me."

The two just want to belong to someone and be cherished and respected.
🥵They're so hot and beautiful 🥰 together. The complicity between them, the provocative and sassy looks but with a lot of sweetness... beautiful.
This fantasy world is well created and connected with the contemporary human world.
I love the MCs! Their personalities and dynamics fit perfectly with the story.
Usually, I don’t like it when the daddy kink is connected with parental issues, but I didn’t mind it here.

🤩🪄And the magic store...was chef kiss 😘.
I loved the interactions with The Owner 😂, and the "Boom, Boom Room", just perfect.
I never imagined it would be possible in a magic shop, well done.

“Love can be painful at times,” The Owner said, not unkindly. “But it also heals. Two good hearts deserve one another, wouldn't you say, Mr. Wolfsbane?”

I received this book as a gift from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Daddy

Skylar and Hiero's daddy/boy story is another great addition to this multi-author series. After his neglected childhood and being relegated to a dirty secret by prince pain in the 🫏, Skylar deserved all the love that Hiero wanted to shower him with.

My Minotaur Daddy is the first book in the Tales of the Arcane series. This is the story of Skylar a fae and Hiero.a minotaur. This was a sweet daddy/boy story about two people who want the same thing but don't realize it. I loved the characters and world building in this story. I also really loved the steam and kink in this book. I would definitely recommend this book.

3.5 rounded up

Skylar is a fae who has been doing whatever it takes to survive his whole life. Finally escaping the toxic relationship with a royal he was caught up in, he leaves the fae realm and is once again penniless and struggling. When he chooses the wrong bar to put his pick-pocketing skills to use he's caught by the minotaur owner, Hiero, who just happens to be his dream Daddy. Hiero intends to simply stop Sky and kick him out, but the pretty fae gets under his skin and his tragic tale tugs on Hiero's caretaker instincts.

A steamy Daddy romance with size difference, breeding kink, a dramatic AF ex who can't take a hint, and all the discipline and cuddles a brat-turned-good-boy needs.

I enjoyed this a lot! It's missing something I can't quite put my finger on so not a 5 star read but really fun all the same. Skylar is such a precious character, I really wanted all the best for him and Hiero deserved to finally be lucky in love. I'll definitely be reading more by this author!

Solid low angst fantasy/paranormal story full of sex scenes, not to be taken too seriously.

Endearing characters and good communication. I appreciated their discussions about sex/dynamics, and they meshed well as a couple.

Successful avoidance of the 3rd act conflict or breakup. The author totally had me going there so props to that; I appreciate being pleasantly surprised when I'm expecting the worst.

Somewhat overly formal & flowery prose but I got used to it, I suppose it's not out of place given the setting but something about it was a bit stiff.

On balance, an enjoyable bit of fluff, and I already own another one of this author's books which I'm now more inclined to check out.

1st person, past tense, dual POV
Major Arcana Card: The Hierophant
Skylar Larkspur, fae
Hierophant “Hiero” Wolfsbane, minotaur halfling, owner of Church (biker bar)

This promised and delivered a kinky, smutty read, which I quite enjoyed, the breeding kink was gloriously done. I would have liked a bit more story woven in, just a smidge, not drama, because there was quite enough of that, especially towards the end. I wanted to feel the love and not just the lust and I wanted to feel Skylar's sense of pride and self-esteem improve.

For the first time in his life, Skylar is on his own and trying to figure out who he is and wants to be. Fresh from a break up and a bit of a mess, Skylar meets Hiero and slowly begins to heal, see his self worth, and envision a future in which he is happy. The two last for all of 37 seconds before tumbling into bed together, which is fine, their chemistry and compatibility is off the charts and I loved their dynamic but I wanted to see Skylar come into his own.

Hiero has got his life together, he's a successful bar owner, respected and loved by his family and community. He's kind, caring, and empathetic - a perfect Daddy. Throughout the story it's evident that Skylar blooms under Hiero's care but I wanted to see him figure out what he was good at, heal, gain confidence, and become stronger on page. There were glimpses, but for instance him occurred off-page and were wrapped up in the epilogue.

I enjoyed all the secondary characters, they really brought the town to life, and I especially enjoyed Monica and Skylar's friendship. I adored the teasing, vulnerability, understanding and patience of the MCs. I thought their individual back stories were traumatic enough to explain their hang-ups but not so extreme as to drag the story down considerably. The bedroom scenes were scorching hot and felt natural and like they suited the characters and overall narrative. I enjoyed the story and eager to keep flipping those pages.

The world building was a little weak and there were a few underdeveloped plot points that were teased that, if explored, would have made this a much better read; .

I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

I signed up for ARCs of the whole series and am starting to think it was a mistake. I guess I thought that the Tarot would feature more prominently and that there would be more commonality within the books than a solitary side character who doesn't even really appear to have a story arc. This is the first one I've actually enjoyed (though I've missed two releases of the five thus far), so I'm not off to a great start. There are a couple of authors I love who are involved in this collaboration so I know (*fingers crossed*) I'll like their books but thought I'd give some other authors a chance, but I think I bit off a little more than I can chew.

This is the third book I've read from the Tales of the Tarot series, and it's another winner. It's also my first book by Laura Lascarso, and I am excited to have discovered a new author!

Skylar is a guildless fae, which is a shameful thing among his kind. He is looked down on and treated badly despite his relationship with the fae prince. When he realizes that said prince has been using him and stringing him along, he flees to another realm. There, he meets the minotaur, Hiero, and though he doesn't realize it or trust it at first, his new life begins.

Hiero hasn't had an easy life, being half-man and half-bull. After losing the monk who raised him, he opens a bar and is adopted by the local pack. When he catches a beautiful fae boy stealing from the patrons of his bar, he steps in. One thing leads to another, and Hiero quickly realizes how badly he wants Skylar in his life, anyway he can have him.

Hiero and Skylar go from one night of passion and exploration of the Daddy/boy dynamic they both love, to a friends and boss/employee relationship. Both want more, but won't admit it. Skylar feels too damaged and messy, and Hiero wants to protect and nurture Skylar in any way he can. But they can't stay away from each other and their relationship turns physical again and deepens as the story progresses.

I found both characters to be likeable. Skylar and Hiero both fit the D/s dynamic well and the chemistry between them is both sweet and steamy. Skylar doesn't believe he deserves someone like Hiero, and Hiero just wants to convince his boy to stay without scaring him off. Each MC brings some healing and comfort to the other. There's a bit of lack of communication that results from Skylar's low self-worth and his difficulty trusting his own happiness. Hiero is supportive and compassionate through it all and it works out well and quickly.

The writing style was great and the scenes were descriptive without being overdone. Both Hiero and Skylar show some growth and development and both are likeable characters. The side characters are also well written. I would have liked it to be a little clearer at the end about the mystery involving Skylar's baby (yes, this story has Mpreg), but I understand the reason behind the way it was written. Mostly, I would have loved a scene with Hiero as a dad because I know he'll be fantastic at it, and I'm dying to know what that cute little baby looks like!

Overall, this book is a strong addition to a great series.

I wanted to read this as part of the Tales From the Tarot series; however, there wasn't any connection to the tarot at all. There was a short mention of the magic shop but nothing involving the tarot. This is a fantasy/erotica with just about everything else thrown in but the tarot part. We have Skylar who is a fae that has had a bad life, some of which is due to his own bad choices. He is trying to get away from the cheating ex and ends up in Wolfsbane. There he meets Hiero, the half minotaur that owns the bar he decides to go to, so he can rob the patrons. On their first encounter they end up in Hiero's bed. Then the rest of the book is half smutty, erotica with every kind of kink you can imagine (the author does mention this in the beginning of the book, but just WOW!). I didn't get that Skylar and Hiero were really in love. It felt like two people that just wanted companionship and lucked out that they both had lots of kinks in common. The cheating ex was basically a caricature of a bad guy. He gave off wimpy vibes to me. He cowed down to his mother and fiance and then took his anger out on Skylar, a weaker person. The prerequisite bad mother (for the cheating ex and Skylar) is here. Skylar's parents are drug addicts and the author wrote a scene that his mother broke into his apartment and was stealing his stuff. When confronted about it and asked if she felt bad, she replied that they were sick and he shouldn't hold it over them. I get that drug addiction is a disease and those afflicted need help but I'm tired of the no accountability that the addicts take and I definitely don't want to read about it. And before anyone jumps on me about this; I've been in the healthcare profession for 32 years and I've seen a lot of this. I also have 2 siblings that are constantly recovering and 1 sibling that died from a drug OD. I'm not without feeling but stop letting the addicts off from responsibility/accountability. The dialogue between Skylar and Hiero was cringe worthy and uncomfortable to read at times. Sometimes it was just downright comical. As mentioned above there was entirely too much gratuitous sex involved and not enough bonding romantically/emotionally. The ending that was a big build up of who's the daddy and then just never mind, we don't care. Thrown in for more drama that wasn't needed. This is my first book by this author, so I'm not sure if this is her normal writing style, but I'm not willing to try another to find out. I'm really sad that this book was such a let down for the series.

Minotaur Daddy and Fae boy

I must admit that I've always had a bit of a thing for Minotaurs and this book was absolutely everything I could have ever wanted. Hiro is considered a hybrid as a minotaur and with no people or clan of his own was adopted into the local wolf shifter clan. Skylar is a runaway fae, who's left his own lands and cheating ex, to try his hand at a new start. Only problem is, he has no idea how to do that. Fortunately, Skylar ends up in a remote mountain town and in the sights of the muscular Daddy that owns the local bar. I honestly can't say enough about how amazing this story was. You have two paranormals that you don't often read about (certainly not minotaurs) and that you'd not envision as a couple; add in wonderful side characters such as Hiro's wolf family; a bar called Church because it's literally built from an old monastery; a mysterious shopkeeper running the local spells and more emporium; and lots and lots of kink; and, well, you have a book that is unique, captivating, and just plain "unable to put it down". The heat factor is definitely 5/5 and I loved just how raunchy and debasing Skylar and Hiro are - but all consensual and completely in sinc with each other. This is down and dirty smut at its absolute best!
I can honestly say that I had not expected this to tick so many of my kink boxes, or to be so good, but I'm so glad that I took a chance on an author I hadn't read before. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book and I'll be looking for others by this writer as well. I read this in KU but I'll definitely be buying a forever copy because this is one that I can see myself wanting to read again and again. I'd love it if the author wrote a second book and revisited Skylar and Hiro. Please!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
5/5 ⭐'s

This is part of the Tales from The Tarot, a Multi-author collab fantasy and paranormal romance series.

I chose this book by Laura Lascarso to review because I am a SUCKER for daddy kink and this honestly couldn't be more perfect and hit that spot perfectly. We have our two MC's Hierophant Wolfsbane (Heiro) and Skylar Larkspur. Skylar has decided he needs a fresh start after he receives terrible news, and chooses a small, inconspicuous town. Unfortunately, he is left with nothing and has to fall back on his thieving ways to get by, which catches the attention of our resident Daddy, Heiro.

This book has all the hurt/comfort, found family and daddy kink you could ever want in a book! Honestly, I adored learning about Skylar and Heiro and watching their relationship unfold. Skylar has just been looking for love and acceptance in all the wrong places, and his daddy Heiro is there to guide him along his new journey. It's absolutely so sweet and adorable it'll make you want to gag on happiness 🤣. Heiro is the perfect kinky daddy and gentleman for Skylar... I mean can I get my own Heiro, please?! 🥹

It's another great addition to the Tales From the Tarot series and I can't recommend it enough for those who love not only daddy kink, but perhaps some monster romance as well 😈 I mean, fun anatomical differences?! Yes please! Sign me up.

I don't want to give too much away or any spoilers but if you love sweet cinnamon rolls MC's mixed with kinky and spicy deliciousness all wrapped up in a fantastical romance story about love in all surprising shapes and forms then this book will definitely be for you!

My Minotaur Daddy is the 7th book in the 22 book multi author series Tales From the Tarot. This book serves to represent the Hierophant card from the tarots Major Arcana. The Hierophant stands for traditions, conformity, knowledge and beliefs. When this card is pulled it often suggests that there is a need to embrace the conventional and that there is a desired to follow a process that has already been estabilished. When it addressed your love life it indicates that you may be drawn to individuals who are respected within the community. You consider your partner to be safe because they will treat your morally and lovingly. This card falls in the domain of Taurus.

In this book the representation for Hierophant may be a little on the nose at first glance. One of the MMC’s name is Hiero which is short Hierophant. Hiero is a Minotaur who was raised by a monk, and an adopted member of a well established wolf pack. He is a well respected member of his town and owns a bar that goes by the name Church. The only things that Hiero feels like he is missing in his life is someone he can love who will love him back. The other representation comes in the form of Skylar the fae who has come to the village as a way to escape his past relationship and overcome his low status. Skylar is searching for a place to belong, he finds himself to be unlovable. He finds himself drawn to Hiero, not necessarily due to his status but because he makes him feel more valuable than he ever thought himself to be in the past.

While I cannot deny that this story was good and very well written,I cannot say that it is my favoirte. The dynamic between the characters is not something I often seek out when I am looking for a book to read. With that being said there were aspects of the relationship between the two that I did enjoy. Hiero is caring and works hard to show Skylar that he does not need to face his problems alone. With the constant validation from Hiero, Skylar has the chance to heal from past trauma and begin to see the value in himself, which is such a beautiful thing.

Themes:
- Size Difference
- Exhibitionism
- Breeding kink
- Mpreg
- Daddy/Boy dynamic
- Rebound lovers

MY MINOTAUR DADDY is the first book in the Tales of the Arcane series, featuring Skylar Larkspur, a guildless fae, and Hiero, a minotaur halfling. Both men feel like they don't fit in, for their own reasons, but perhaps they are perfect for each other, if only they could trust in what they have.

This was a sweet and spicy, low-angst story that I read in one sitting. I loved the banter between them and how, although each was wary of the other, they both accepted the whole of who they were. There was no "you need to change this." Just an acknowledgement of what had happened in the past, and hope for the future.

Of course, even in a low-angst story, there are still sh!tty characters to contend with. And here we have Cedrych, Skylar's ex, and his mother. Both are complete ar$eholes, but hey, they're royalty, so they get away with it.

The next book is about Cedrych, but I'm afraid I just can't bring myself to read it. I love a good redemption story, and I'm sure I would enjoy it if I did actually read it, but he really is the biggest brat of them all, which doesn't do much for me at all. I prefer boys like Skylar, who have a hint of brattiness but are needy for cuddles.

Skylar and Hiero's story was a wonderful read that I was completely hooked by. Definitely recommended by me.

Skylar is a Fae that’s going through a bad break up. So he flooded the realm with none of his things and very little coin. That lead him going to church bar to steal. That’s when he gets caught red-handed by the owner of the bar. Minotaur Hiero was abandoned as a child and raised by a monk until he went away. Now he’s a member of the family Wolfbane clan. He has always had a thing for a little troubled, beautiful men. Now they finally found each other things start to get heated between the two of them. You get to see them get close and finally find the one. What I like about Skylar is he works on himself throughout the book. I like that he is confident, sassy and knows what he wants. I love the fact that he finally found someone who can be himself with and not hide. Also give him what he wants and without shame. Hiero has always wanted somebody to take care of. But no one stayed because of his appearance and left the next day. What do I like about him Is he never judges people, for what they done because it’s in the past. I also like that, he wants to take care of Skylar and build a life together. I love the fact He’s protective of Skylar will do any thing for him. Both of them together, bring the best out of each other. They have so much trust and good communication. I love how they dream of a future together. I also like that they want the same thing. Any of the book was amazing. I am so happy they got together and had a life they always wanted.

5⭐️ 3-4🌶️
MOOD: lighthearted, funny, sad
TROPES: hurt/comfort, found family
GENRES: supernatural romance, monster romance
FAV QUOTE: "It's okay if you are. I don't mind a little mess." - "I'm a whole lot of mess, Hiero." - "But I'd be you're worth it."

MAIN CHARACTERS: Skylar Larkspur (Fae) and Hierophant "Hiero" Wolfsbane (Halfling Minotaur)
TAROT CARD: The Hierophant

THE GOOD: This is the second book I've read in the Tales from the Tarot series. I really enjoyed Skylar and Hiero's story. What starts as a potential rebound for Skylar evolves into a really sweet relationship that gives them both more than they were looking for....also it gets really spicy really fast. The world is really easy to get familiar with and presents differences between the Fae (Skylar) and Shifter (Hiero) cities and cultures that add to their relationship and overall story. There is a Daddy/boy dynamic and while on the lighter side if that's not something for you then I wouldn't suggest reading this.
THE NEUTRAL: I don't get the connection to The Hierophant beyond Hiero's name & The Church. That could be it and that's fine. Just coming from the Cleric of Desire where it was spelled out for me makes me feel like I'm missing something.
THE MEH: Nothing to report here.

CW: mentions of former sex work, mentions of parental neglect, sexual content (full list provided by author)
DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy. This is my honest review.

Treated like "a guildless, unremarkable piece of fae trash", all his life, Skylar was an outcast in the social order of the Emrallt Valley. Falling for a prince didn't help the situation, and when the prince became betrothed to someone else, he ran away to the Dragonback Mountains. His first piece of luck was getting caught pickpocketing the customers in Hierophant Wolfsbane's bar, Church.
Hiero was kind and confident, sunshine to Skylar's grumpiness and poor self-worth. There's size difference and some kink in the story. And by that, I mean chapters worth. Hiero was pure Daddy Dom, something Skylar desperately needed. Sternness and overprotectiveness, and so, so much cuddly care. The pair burned their way through the pages of the story. They exchanged ex stories. Skylar won because the prince truly was a jerk, but Hiero dated a crazy sorcerer who cursed him with his own private rain storm after they broke up.
A quick, quite enjoyable story. Don't let the cover or the title fool you, while there's some fluffiness, this is not a lite read. Good worldbuilding, a loving pack, I could see several book possibilities in the crowd. I'd read them.
I received an advanced copy of this book from GRR and this is my review.

This book had everything I needed. It checked so many boxes and I wouldn't have known that for sure until I read the book. There was delicious kink and spice, a beautiful healthy daddy/boy relationship that made my heart pound and touching vulnerability that made my breath hitch throughout. Hiero and Skylar were made from each other. They were so different yet had some very emotional similarities especially of being the odd one out since Hiero is a halfling adopted by a shifter clan and Skylar only has his best friend Monica (who is a gem) as his parents have always been selfish and neglectful and failed to give him a guild or a place to belong. Their temperaments differ but they give each other what they need. Love, care, acceptance and a safe place to land that's just theirs. I adored reading about their relationship growing everyday and the trust they put in each other even when there who doubts or wariness about them lasting. They communicated when it was hard but were all in no matter what happened. This story gripped me from the first page and while I'm not fully ready to let go and would have loved an epilogue of some sort to get a peek into their new family I'll definitely have a place in my heart for these two beautiful souls.

I did not expect another Daddy kink so soon but god knows I am not a smart man.

I'm gonna start off by getting this out of the way so I don't repeat myself. I do not have a DDLG/LB kink. There are just parts of this book that will never be for me and it's whatever. I don't think if this book wasn't in the Tales of the Tarot series I wouldn't have read it.

The romance is the main part of the book which I'm fine with. There's not much in the world building other than for plot convivence.

Skylar has two points of personality for me. Anxious and boy toy. He uses sex a lot to feel desired and loved. Due to that though, some moments were just downright silly. Like the concept of a at a church renovated into a bar lol.

So what I did like about the book, surprisingly sweet moments? There's a lot of smut don't get me wrong. Breeding kink as well and a part of the book that made me laugh because of it. The part when
I like that Hiero and Skylar are made for each other literally and metaphorically. Hiero wants to be needed and Skylar needs to be wanted.

It may not necessarily be for me but I can definitely see why some people would like it!
