Tessa and Clara are twins born to a society that does not allow siblings for any reason. They work really hard to be selected to be an Elite. Unfortunately one makes the cut and one does not. One must remain in the provinces and one must move on to the city of privilege. However twins do not do separation well. Follow Clara and Tessa as they navigate their separate lives without each other. There is too much to spoil by discussing anything else but you will find found family, trust and betrayal, powerful players, romance, death and survival. A separate story in the Federation of the Americas and I am definitely here for it!! Highly recommended and I cannot wait for the second installment!!
Oh My! I feel like Muller ripped my heart out, arranged it beautifully on a tray- handed it to me & walked away! This story had me pulled every which way! Let's start with the writing - flawless - the story grabs you and sucks you in. The style of writing has a flow that when you hit the end of the book it feels like you've only been reading for a few minutes. And you need to know what's next. I wasn't even upset by the endings. Selected's story concluded but the next story has already begun. This is a series, and I see it happening already where I want it to last forever and yet only be a duet, so I know what happens to everyone. Tessa and Clara are strong, independent women who along the way discover that they will do this they never thought for those they love and their love extends beyond each other. In the beginning they are only concerned with other and before long that concern extends to others - even some they never thought. The guys! Finn, Ash & Nate.... sigh, swoon - enough said. Loved them - they were protective but also want the girls to know that they could do anything on their own. I love a dystopian book and once again Muller delivers. I'm impatiently awaiting book two!
I wasn't sure I was going to like this book but I thought I would give it a chance since I ended up really like R.M. Muller's other series "The Sands of Ruin". The first part of this book was good, solid. Interesting story line where the alternating point of view really kept the story moving. Sometimes alternating can get annoying because you just want one of the stories much more than the other, not the case in this book. I found both stories to be equally interesting in their own right.
A little over half way through and I couldn't put the book down. Intense, action packed, heart breaking, you will be battered, bruised, and want the next book right now. I see where the story is going... but I can't fully trust that R.M. Muller is going to end it nicely which is making me extremely anxious for these characters.
4/5 ⭐️ Absolutely love Muller’s writing style. She aces it every time she puts ‘pen to paper’. Finally had time to smash out the reads that I just haven’t been able to this year! Dystopian with a sprinkle of love affair and I can’t wait for the next book. 📖 Twins allocated different sectors, how will they cope apart for the first time in their lives. Both on the same journey, but will it put them both in danger?
I was a little nervous about reading this. I am obsessed with the sands of ruin, with Harm and Imani, how on earth do you follow a series like that? Well, the answer is, you follow it just like this!
Another YA dystopian filled with so much content, drama and twists in such a relatively short book. How is that possible?! I mean, how?! I'm terrified of rollercoasters (yup, total wimp) but R.M. Mullers books are the perfect alternative.
Twins, Tessa and Clara exist in a world where twins are supposed to be impossible. While Tessa is assigned to the "elites" while Clara is assigned to the engineer class, both are heartbroken to have been separated, but their bond remains strong. As does their ability to ask questions which should not be asked. When blackouts begin in the City of Glass, Tessa sets out on a mission to find out why, and there is only one person who can help, Clara. With communication forbidden, how can they work together to uncover the truth?
Whichever YA dystopian series you fell in love with, I can guarantee that this book is for you. R.M Muller has an exceptional talent for developing characters you will be obsessed with. She also has a talent for ripping your heart out and providing cliff hanger endings which will have you queuing impatiently for the next installment. First class writing and another series in a league of its own.
