I live my life by these five words. For me, they have always proven to be true. Men have only brought hurt and suffering my entire life, leaving nothing but devastation in their wake.
I fear them. I hate them.
Until him.
Gabriel forced his way into my life, ripping down the walls I’ve built around myself. He wants me, and he’ll stop at nothing to have me. I should be terrified of what he makes me feel. So why do I crave him anyway?
I see the red flags and warning signs, but I just can’t help myself. I’m his obsession. I thought he was my salvation. But now I know his love could destroy me.
Born and raised around Houston, Jessica is a self proclaimed caffeine addict, connoisseur of inexpensive wine, and the worst driver in the state of Texas. In addition to being all of these things, she’s first and foremost a wife and mom. Growing up, she shared her mom and grandmother’s love of reading. But where they leaned toward murder mysteries, Jessica was obsessed with all things romance. When she’s not nose deep in her next manuscript, you can usually find her with her kindle in hand.

FYI: this is more of a rant than a review so if you'd like to know what the story is actually about, you're not going to get any good info here.
Damn. I'm not sure what was missing in this book, but I never connected with the characters. Gabe, maybe.
Marley, the heroine is broken she obviously has a very dark past. She's afraid of men and the only people she lets gets close to her are her best friends Carmen and Matty. She works at a diner and takes college classes at night. So immediately when you read this you think, Wow, this girl has obviously not had a very easy life but she's managed to dust off her knees and keep at it. And yes it's pretty remarkable I mean she survived some pretty gruesome stuff and at a very young age. But this is where it all started falling flat for me.
The heroine has been through some kind of sexual trauma and is leery of men because of it. Now I'm kind of hesitant to read books like this, especially if the hero is an alpha male. Don't get me wrong, Marley showed all the correct characteristics of someone who's been sexually abused but for some reason this all went out the window when Gabe came into her life. I mean this girl almost immediately feels safe with him, she barely knows him but she's sure he would never hurt her. Then there's the part where Gabe is sexually demanding, not abusive but he's an alpha male and he's used to calling the shots in the bedroom and suddenly Marley falls in line.
As much as I'd love for Marley to heal, her complete 180 was completely unbelievable! I get it, Gabe is hot and she feels safe with him, and he makes her feel like no man has ever done before. She doesn't understand why, but blah, blah, snore!!!
And it wouldn't be a romance novel if Gabe wasn't hiding his own demons complete with the ex from hell, a kinky club and some drug cartel ties. I'm pretty predictable when it comes to alpha heroes in books.
1. I liked possibly loved Gabe's character. 2. That is all.
Another thing that bothered the freaking crap out of me was Marley's inane ability to believe something someone she barely knows told her and her inability to do the same for Gabe. I'm not saying she should be a doormat but if it's so easy for her to believe everything everyone else says why not do the same for Gabe?
Wait there's more that bothered me. Your boyfriend buys you a car, and you take it. He wants you to move in with him, you basically agree but insist on keeping the flat you've signed a contract for. And you work awful hours and at a shitty diner and every night you go home to your boyfriend's larny penthouse apartment and live in the lap of luxury. Sorry I'm ranting. I don't get it!!!
Look, I guess if I'd read this book maybe a few months ago I would have given it a better rating. But I've read this story line so many times and it is old people. Old and tired. Also I don't understand how Marley could go out to clubs dressed in short dresses etc. If you've been sexually objectified and abused for so many years, knee jerk reaction is to cover up, you aren't going to feel comfortable with you body being exposed.
This book did have something going for it though. 94% Plot twist. NEVER SAW IT COMING and WOW! I'll add this is only my opinion and trust me you'll probably enjoy it a lot more than I did. I'm quite the oddball. So I recommend you read it and then tell me what you think.
Also, there's a second book... I'm not quite sure if I'll be reading it.
First I'm going to say this exceeded my expectations. I love to read and I'm not picky about errors, if it has what I want, I'm good and I can look over them for the most part but this one had way too many and I have no clue how they got by. Would be a 5 star for me without all the errors.
Anyone who chooses to read this really has to be prepared to make it through a short part of the beginning which involve acts upon an eight year old, this is how the heroine starts out and it's definitely a trigger for some, just heads up.
I loved this read. It kept me turning page after page and I didn't want to stop. It begins with the life of Marley up until the age of 18 when she finally makes it out of the hell she had been living. Supporting her mothers drug habit. She becomes afraid of men from that point on, they are not good, they hurt you. She keeps her distance from them all, has no family except for two friends Carmen and Matt. She works along side of them as a bartender. Carmen is one of those characters that is really protective of her friends and even though she knows something terrible has happened to Marley she never pushes her to tell the story.
Marley meets Gabe at work one night and they feel an instant attraction but she senses he is nothing but trouble. He decides he wants her and becomes obsessed with her. In my reading world, he was hot. He is pure alpha at it's finest. I can handle non abusive ones. Marley stands her ground for as long as she can but finally gives into his charm.
The sex is hot as hell! Lots of it too! Along the way. I really can't get into much more because I would ruin it. What Gabe is really up to that would definitely chase Marley away. So it's best I stop here but wow was I into this and this as quoted "Hotty McSex-on-a-Stick" was worth the read. Him and his dirty mouth.
"You're not leaving me, my bella, Ever. Don't you get that yet?" His voice is raspy and out of breath. "There's nowhere you can go where I can't find you. You belong to me."
I won't bother with a detailed review because this book was way too ridiculous, I will say even.though I may not like EVERY book written by this author it's clear that her writing style has VASTLY improved and I can appreciate that
So H/h meet he wants her something fierce she, despite wanting him isn't going for it She goes to a party and sees him getting a bj Weeks later when she still refuses him the H has sex with a woman who looks like the h at his sex club, the h walks into the ending of that scene. It was grossly detailed The h was raped repeatedly in exchange for drugs for her mother from the age of 8 till 18. The drug dealer shared her with his men but was possessive of her. We experience this abuse through flashbacks. The thing is after years of horrific abuse the h never got therapy and she loved rough sex with the H and that's where I think the author fell down on the job. For her to go through so many years of abuse, to be afraid of men for years and then for her to just beg for rough sex with the H felt way too unbelievable. In fact it made her abuse lack the emotional punch one would expect The h was an immature idiot who would run away after believing every thing she heard about the H The H was a bossy, possessive wannabe Alpha badass The sex sucked way too much for it to be so frequent 😒
This book was so good. I devoured it in one night. The H is to die for: OTT and completely insane for the h. The sex was also HOT. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect rating was bc of the slutty BF (which I HATE), a gay friend that the H mistakes as a rival for the h's affections (this has been done too many times), and an evil ex who wants the H despite his rejections (no woman does that). The h was a little annoying at times but the H more than made up for that.
I would love this author's stories if she could just have her heroes keep it in their pants after meeting the heroines or at the very least, have the heroines with someone else too. Instead with the exception of the first book in the colurs series, in the books of hers that I have read the heroes have sex with OW after meeting the heroines and/or during a separation. By contrast, the heroines are celibate, pining over the heroes.
It is so chauvinistic and stereotypical and makes me want to puke every time I read it. It plays into the antiquated idea that a woman needs to be emotionally involved to have sex after being with the hero whereas the hero screws other women for a release or in an attempt to get over her or for whatever lame reason the authors come up with. Emotions have no part in him having sex with OW and therefore he does it whereas the heroine doesn't because she cannot emotionally move on from the hero. What a throwback concept. It is like we are living in the fifties or the authors are in their seventies as opposed to women under forty. Looking at this author's picture she does not look like any 70 year old that I have seen.
Here the hero got a blowjob and had sex with OW after meeting the heroine. Like with the other books of the author's that I have read, the heroine sees him in the act or right afterwards, HERE the heroine saw him do it both times. Then like the other books he feels guilty afterwards. Poor baby.
It is a shame that the hero could not stop his manholeness right after meeting the heroine instead of getting his final OW screws in because I loved other things about him and the story. He was all alpha. He was possessive and jealous and was willing to chase the heroine. Also the sex scenes, other than those with OW, were hot. I was debating as to whether to read the second book or not. I decided that I will only do so if I receive info that confirms that he is celibate during the separation OR if he isn't then she is with someone too.
This book is so incredibly clichè yet for the life of me I couldn't stop reading it -- I frigging devoured this book despite its problematic Hero and Heroine. Oh well.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Robbed of her childhood as a pawn in her mother’s drug addiction and desperation for a fix, Marley has closed herself off from even the thought of a relationship with any man. She had a very rough childhood and was able to overcome it all and break away from that life. She’s working as much as she possibly can as a bartender to put herself through college. Everything she has, she has worked for and accomplished all on her own. Her walls crumble to the ground when she finds herself gazing into a pair of hypnotizing slate grey eyes and the mysteriously sexy man who they belong to.
Gabriel Bertozzi uses meaningless sex to pacify his urges and has no desire to be in a relationship. He’s a businessman who thrown himself into his work because it’s really all he has. He has a thirst for revenge which adds a captivating element of suspense to this novel.
Two broken people who have no desire for a relationship, yet they cannot seem to stop thinking about one another.
“With everything in me, I want to be able to work through my issues so that I can give Gabriel everything he wants from me.”
I loved this book! Gabriel has a completely unexpected sweet side to him. You just can’t help but love Marley. She is so strong and brave and although she has suffered through so much but she’s definitely a fighter! I love Carmen! Always there to give Marley a kick in the ass when she needs it and there to provide the support she needs since she has no other family. This book is sweet, sexy, and definitely captivating! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
Wow. Prince took the alpha millionaire cliché, been-done-to-death storyline and did it right. She made it her own. I devoured this book. I was intrigued from beginning to end. There were no lulls. Prince has a knack for cutting to the chase while at the same time creating glorious buildup to a what-the-hell-just-happened ending.
Marley had a shit childhood. We get the idea of what happened to her through nightmares. Four or so years later she's making it on her own working as a bartender and taking night classes. She has a few really good friends but she still doesn't fully trust men.
Enter Gabriel, shit hot millionaire. It's sort of vague what he does for a living but it's obvious some of it is not legal. When he sees Marley's beautiful green eyes while bartending he's immediately smitten. Their connection is strong but they may be connected in more ways than one.
This book may not be the most original but it has so many elements I love: crazy exes, catching him in the act with other women, and lots of secrets. Brilliant story writing.
Marley is a great heroine. I just loved her and the revelation at the end! Ohmigod! I really didn't see that coming. I would have reacted the same way. There are so many things I want to happen in Addicted, I'm looking forward to it. Bravo!
(Fyi I usually don't mention editing issues in my reviews but this book is chock full of spelling and proper tense mistakes so if that bugs you this may not be the book for you).
This book totally took me by surprise, I had it in my library for a few days before I read it. I absolutely loved it ! I mean I stayed up all frigging night because I just had to finish it ! I am gonna be going crazy waiting for the next one ! I felt so sorry for Marley & everything that's happened to her, I really hope her & Gabriel get their HEA. Gabriel was hot as FUCK, I love, love, loved him ! Carmen was funny as shit, I loved the stuff she said to Aldo !
It’s been a while since I’ve read about a rich alpha businessman used to getting whatever he wants and whatever woman he wants. This book was an easy way to find myself enjoying that genre again. If you like Christian Grey, I would find this a good comparison – this is what Christian would be like if he were in charge of a Chicago mafia. Besides having a hot alpha man, it also has a feisty female who is used to having to defend herself and she is not going to stand for any of Gabriel’s usual preying tactics. Oh I loved Marley. She could put Gabriel in his place in one second flat and he would be left groveling…definitely something he was not used to.
Marley has had a crap life. Her mother started selling out her little girl’s body when Marley was just a young girl in exchange for drugs. Marley has never known her father, as her mother didn’t even know whom the father was. At the age of 18 Marley was given an out to her life. Even though it meant starting over with literally only the clothes on her back, she was much happier than she had been for 10 years. Marley is now 22 years of age and has been able to make a life for herself. Marley obtained her GED, is currently taking night college course, and works several shifts at the bar and grill to pay her rent. Marley is happy and the only thing that currently is going to crap in her life is her car.
Gabriel is a 31-year-old successful business owner who also does a few shady dealings on the side. He has a past that is painful and because of this he never gets close to a woman, only allowing himself to have one-night stands. He is used to getting whatever he wants and when he sees Marley and their eyes meet, he wants Marley. Nothing is going to stand in his way, including the locked door to her apartment.
I love good angst and this delivered a couple good shocking moments. What’s better than seeing a man you’re curious about getting a blow job? Going at it on top of his desk with somebody who resembles you. I admit…I’m sick, but I loved those scenes. But then I turned to mush over Gabriel when he sat on the concrete in front of Marley’s door in his expensive Armani suit waiting for her to arrive home so he could apologize.
The pull between Gabriel and Marley is so great that she cannot fight it. She is helpless when it comes to him. What is it about him that is making her come undone? Gabriel wants to find out where the two of them can take their attraction. Marley needs to quit fighting him and embrace that he wants and needs to take care of her. She doesn’t have to go through life alone.
Whenever he wraps me in his arms all the bad fades away. I feel safe – protected. When I’m in his arms it’s like I’m a different person. Someone a little less broken.
There is more to Gabriel than being a successful businessman. Some secrets of his life will hurt Marley, but yet Marley is definitely keeping her past hidden from him also. One should know by now that nothing good comes of keeping secrets. Secrets will blow up in your face when you least expect it.
When they say karma is a bitch, they forget to mention that that’s an understatement. A more correct assumption would be that she’s a raging psychotic bitch from hell on the first f*#king day of her period.-- Gabriel
Strong secondary characters include Marley’s best friend Carmen who has no filter on her mouth, and Gabriel’s childhood friend and former lover who is unwilling to let Gabriel go. Gabriel and Marley’s story ends on a cliffhanger, with the second and final installment of their story coming in fall 2014.
There are a few things I know off the bat when I’m going to start a Jessica Prince book. One of those things is that I know there will be that hilarious BFF that I will simply adore, who will have me laughing out laud due to her no filter mouth.
The second thing that I know is that no matter how dark a topic is there will be a balance with humour and light sweet as sexy moments.
The third thing is that I know Jessica will have a great effortless way with her words that will carry me through the story.
Destruction is a story that has all the above and much more, yet Destructive is totally different from all of Jessica’s other books. Originally it was a trilogy, but Jessica just announced the two MC (Gabriel & Marley) story will be wrapped up in two books, meaning we will be following the same main characters until their story ends in the following book. Alike her Picking up the Pieces Series that follows different characters from the series, the third book will be centred around two other characters from Destructive.
And another difference is that Destructive pretty much shocked me in the steam element. HOLLY HOTNESS that book is on fire. WARNING read this book when you are ALONE! its steam is off the charts! Jessica I didn’t know you had that in you, but dayum girl the sex scenes where intense and on fire. They were well written and not at all over the top.
Destructive follows the life of Marley and Gabriel, two people from opposite side of the tracts, different worlds all together who have an electrifying attraction and need for one another. But little do these two know how small the world really is.
Marley as Gabriel harbours a past that is dark and hard. A past both try to forget and not talk about. But as one runs from it the other always has hope to catch up with the past and destroy it. And when the truth is unveiled the past comes to bite the other in the ass and that is when the commotion start and trouble (in sex-paradise) between the fragile relationship starts.
Destructive has a looming darkness to it that you can’t help want to welcome and absorb it. For much of the book I was waiting for the impending chaos and the destruction to show face. Albeit I was very much entertained with the witty banter between the characters, the hot steamy love scenes, the passionate fights as the somber flashbacks to the past.
There were a few things that had me confused and scratching my head, which I’m hopeful will be addressed in book two. The build up to the climax of the story was stretch out a bit, which is normal for serials, nevertheless the story kept me intrigued and interested until we got to the unravelling of the secrets of both Gabriel and Marley.
I really can’t wait for what comes next. I am looking forward for more unraveling of complex Gabriel, and the impending angst that I’m positive awaits me in the sequel.
This book ends in a somewhat Cliffy but I know Jessica is a speedy writer so not much waiting for the sequel.
If you are looking for the beginning of a so far promising series that offers, intrigue, steam, good characters which each one on their own stand out don’t miss out on Destructive.
I want to scream from the roof tops that you MUST ONE CLICK Destructive. I wasn't sure what to expect when I read this book. I have read Jessica Prince's other novels which were lighthearted and heartwarming. Destructive is sooo not that type of novel. Jessica really stepped out of her box when she wrote this masterpiece.
Gabriel is a total ALPHA male and he has this sex appeal to him that will have you begging for more. When he says jump, I want to jump. There is just something totally hot about his personality. Gabriel has a past, one that has made him into the person he is today. His entire life had changed in a blink of an eye. So when he had closed his heart of to the world he was quite shocked by his reaction to Marley. Gabriel is controlling, but not too much, so when he sets his eyes on Marley, he is not going to take no for an answer.
Marley has a past; a past that I would not wish on my worst enemy. Marley's past is what keeps her from opening up with everyone. Her two best friends don't even know what she went through. She refuses to have anyone look at her with pity in their eyes. She survived her past and has started a new life for herself. When Gabriel walks through the door of the bar where she works at, her entire life was about to change. Would that be for the better, or for the worst? There was just something about Gabriel that she was drawn to. She has never felt this way about someone. She has never been attracted to anyone the way she is attracted to Gabriel. This scares Marley.
The chemistry between Marley and Gabriel is off the charts. I could feel the emotions that they were going through. Marley was struggling to keep her wall up, but brick by brick, Gabriel was working to remove that wall.
There are so many twists and turns in this story. When secrets are revealed, will Gabriel and Marley be able to get past them? Gabriel knows that trust is a huge issue for Marley, will he be able to keep Marley's trust? Will he be able to keep Marley's heart? Will Marley open herself up to Gabriel? Will she allow him to love her? Will Gabriel be able to love Marley? Will their pasts play a role in their future?
I highly recommend Destructive. I absolutely LOVED this book. I could not put it down once I started it. I tried to slow myself down from reading it cover to cover because I didn't want the story to end, however I failed miserably. I read it in one sitting because I was dying to know what happened next.
You will fall hard for Gabriel, and I mean hard !!! I was left with a total book hangover and had to wait a few months to get the 2nd novel in the series, Addictive. I have read Addictive as well, and I will be posting my review for that as well. You have to read this series, trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Destructive has an INTENSE storyline from start to finish with characters that are NOT PERFECT! I think those two aspects of this story alone make Destructive a MUST READ for any New Adult or Erotic Romance reader!
Marlena is a very likable, kind and smart woman but she is emotionally ruined when it comes to romantic relationships. Her issues with men stem from her horrible upbringing with her mother. She forced Marley to do terrible things with various men and it emotionally destroyed her. In order for Marley to heal these internal wounds, she will need to meet a very strong willed man to break her. He will have to help her overcome all her fears of intimacy and closeness both physically and emotionally. Gabriel seems to be just the perfect match for Marley. Early on in the story Gabriel enters Marley’s place of employment for a drink, sees Marley for the first time and has this instant connection with her. Although Marley appears standoffish with Gabriel, he continues to show interest in getting to know her, even after their first encounter.
“When I come across something that holds my interest, I kind of become…well, let’s just say I’m like a dog with a bone. No isn’t a word I hear often in my world, and when I want something, I get it. And, Bella, please believe that you are most definitely something I want.” – Gabriel
Ms. Prince definitely has a way with words and the way she weaves this story together will draw you in right from the beginning. Not only does this book have an intense romantic relationship as its main focus but there’s also some behind the scenes action taking place between other characters as well. The last 20% of the book will keep you constantly wondering what the characters plans are going to be next. I really loved the build-up of Marley and Gabriel’s relationship. This story has lots of heat and sexual scenes that is written very well. Destructive does have a CLIFFHANGER that will leave you hanging… with an OMG feeling! I can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment!
Oh my goodness. I was completely blown away after reading this book. I think I'm still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor. I wasn't expecting what I read. I have never read anything by Jessica Prince before and now she will be an author that I will add to my reading list. I was completely hooked from the very beginning to the very end.
After having to grow up at such a young age Marley is trying to make it own her own. Her father was some random guy that she didn't know and well her mother was an addict. She didn't care about anyone except for getting her next hit. Finally at the age of 18 Marley escaped to set out and make a new life for herself. She was going to college and had a job. She wasn't looking to let anyone into her life. She only had two friends that she considered her family. Then she met Gabriel Bertozzi. She tried everything that she had in her to stay away from him. He was demanding, cocky, sex on legs and he didn't let anyone stop him from getting what he wanted.
Gabriel is what we called the bad boy. He has his secrets and his caring and tender side when it comes to Marley. He would do anything in his power to protect her. He had an instant attraction to Marley from the very first time he set eyes on her. She wasn't the easiest person to catch. She fought him as much as she could until she couldn't anymore. He loved her feisty side. He was very persistent and new just what buttons of hers to push. Gabriel I found him to be a ladies man. He could have his choice. He never let a women get to his heart. He had walls put up after some past events in his life.
"So is the Italian stereotype true? Are you hung like a horse?" - Carmen. Carmen is Marley's best friend and I couldn't contain my laughter when it came to her. Her witty comments just put a smile on my face.
This book is a cliffhanger and the Love Trilogy will be continued.
“Holy Mob Wars.” Marley is a woman that has a backbone and spine of steel. I mean she really has to be from all the crap life has dealt her. She had a crappy childhood with a crack head mom who never showed or taught Marley love. I swear her Mom needed a bitch slapping!! Somehow through all this Marley manages to grow up get out and start a life. She bartends and puts herself through night college. She even develops two extremely amazing friends Carmen and Matt. She is this little spitfire who takes no crap from anyone. Marley is determined to have the life she has always wanted. Then one day out of the blue in walks Mr. Sex on legs in charge of the Chicago mafia Gabriel Bertozzi. Seriously he is cocky, and an arrogant ass at first impressions. However, this dude has game. He can sweet talk the panties of anything that will let him. He wants Marley in the worst way. Convincing Marley is a whole new ballgame that Gabriel is not used to. Just when things heat up and Marley lets Gabriel in things turn way south. Its amazing how the past will always, and I mean always creep back in a screw everything up. You really never knew what curve ball was going to be thrown at you. Jessica Prince has a way of hooking you from page one in this story of two people who will have to fight to be together. The thing is will the past win or will their love win. The secondary characters are such a strong part of this book as well. Carmen spit whatever the hell is on her mind and doesn’t thing about it. Gabriel’s right hand man is a huge giant who has a take no prisoner’s attitude. Gabriel’ ex has massive issues as well and boy does she spew garbage any chance she can. This is my 1st Jessica Price book and I will say it’s a 5 star homerun hit!! Watch out Mr. Grey you have competition now!!
I adored this book on so many levels I don`t know where to start.
I'm a fan of this authors series 'Picking up the Pieces' ~ one of the reasons being the banter and relationships between the characters, both main and secondary ~ and she has done that once again, incredibly well, in Destructive.
Carmen in particular made me smile and laugh, no matter where I was, especially when she meets the tall, well built Aldo !
"So is the Italian stereotype true? Are you hung like a horse?" ~ Carmen
"The dude's a beast, it would be like God playing a cruel joke on the world if he was carrying around a cocktail weenie in his pants." ~ Carmen
"Oh come on! Like you weren't thinking it. I bet I could blow this guy without even getting on my knees." ~ Carmen
Gabriel is a sexy asshole - I wanted to throttle him and fuck him all at the same time!!!!!
Marley is shaped by events in her childhood but Gabriel is a determined sexy Italian who knocks those walls down and reaches her. She's no pushover though and the back and forth between them is entertaining and well written.
Destructive is a different read from Jessica's previous books and I think her best yet - her growth as an author is plain to see in this one and she has a gift.
If you are a Tarentino fan then you`ll enjoy the way this book ties everything together in unexpected ways at the end that make you think 'damn yes of course'!!
It`s a trilogy, so be warned, there's a cliffy ending - but this in no way detracts from the book, it makes total sense. A damn bloody good book and I can`t wait for the next ............
Marley is the classic tortured heroine - her childhood was stolen from her and she is running from her past. While I did not relate to her, my heart bled for the atrocities she suffered as a child. I fell in love with Gabriel, our sexy male lead, who had a bit of a tortured past himself. The insta-love between Marley and Gabriel was not believable given her past. However, it didn't overly detract from the story. And the length of time it took them to become a couple worked with the length of the book. The first book allowed the relationship to develop between our main characters, while the second book was full of action and suspense. I reviewed these 2 books together because the Marley-Gabriel relationship spans these books, and Book 3 (TBR 2015) is going to focus on the relationship between secondary characters.
I liked that the story was told from an alternating POV - although we heard more from Marlena than Gabriel. While the idea of the book was not original - it had enough fan favorites to make it enjoyable. A good recipe for these books seems to be the tortured past, dark secrets, crazy ex-girlfriends, and good secondary characters. This book has all of those. This was my first time reading Jessica Prince, and I will definitely continue with the series.
This is the first time I have read anything by this author. The first part of the story, along with the h dreams is heartbreaking. The h endured so much when she was young. She is a fighter and is willingly giving herself a new start. When she meets the H there is no drama. They started slow and he gave her space for what she needed. You tell by the build of the chapters what might happen but because of the way the author builds it up you don't only think about that. I loved the H. The banter the h and H is funny because she challenges him. He is very loyal and possessive. I am looking forward to the 2nd book which is available. The author didn't mess around like other authors do and made it available right a way. If you like mafia, drug cartels, great side characters and a mature (20-28) you have to read this.
This was book was a first for me from this author and I am thoroughly impressed. I really enjoyed the story Marley and Gaberial. Marley had been put thru the 'ringer' when she was but a child and thru her teenage years, so much that she can not trust a man. She buried herself into making herself not be that person anymore. Gaberial came in and started tearing down those walls brick by brick. This is one of those books that you just can't put down. There's a twist that just puts a knife in your chest. Gaberial is a hot alpha male too, so that's a bonus! Looking forward to reading the next of the series.
Destructive is about, Marley, a girl who has had the most horrifying experiences by men. After barely escaping her tragic past she has lived her life believing that men can only cause pain until she meets Gabriel.
At first I had to put this book down several times because for some reason I just could not get into it. Thinking that maybe it was because I was still mentally stuck in a previous book; I eventually came back to itl and I'm so glad I did! Destructive turned out to be a surprising read with a unsuspecting twist. I can't wait to see what is in store for Marley & Gabriel in the fall.
Loved it! This book had me hooked from the beginning. And Gabriel...Dayum! That is one hot alpha male, he's added to the list. Marley was his perfect match! It was nice to see her stand her ground with him every now and then the girl definitely has a backbone. Their banter in the beginning was entertaining. I enjoyed the side characters a lot. Great cliffhanger can't wait to see what Gabe does next.
I do like the story. It's the writing style that I'm not very fond of. It's written in Dual 1st Person, which I like, but the way it was written is just kind of so-so. The moment I've started reading the novel, I knew that I'd end up skipping a lot, and I did. I usually just read the conversations. The love scenes didn't have any effect, it wasn't hot, so I'm pretty sure it's the writing style that I'm not a fan of.
This story is one I could not put down. I was fighting sleep and a much needed brb, but those necessities no longer mattered. I had to finish it! Immediately, I felt for Marley and fell in love with Gabe. I could feel the build-up and knew it was going to be bad. I can't wait to read the next book. I need more, LOTS MORE!
I want moarrr can't wait to read the next book and pleaase...(I want)a HEA story after bad things happen in their past,I want to see happiness in Marley and Gabriel face :)
