The saga and mystery stays true in Longitude. It’s very apparent now that the series is one tightly woven textile. Longitude fits more like a quilt block within that larger tapestry. It’s loaded with colorful stories that follows Jeb and Amanda’s romance while at the same time coursing through a wider landscape. Little by little, all the foreshadowing from the first book in the series is revealing itself in Longitude. Even some of the smallest clues, like the lavender. It’s an extremely well designed saga. It may have just hit me that the title of the book may be the biggest clue of all. It’s blaring like a strobe, but like most readers, I overlooked it. Combined with another clue in this book, I have a decent inkling where this may be heading (avoiding spoilers).
Will now be moving on to the third book in the series, just released, hoping they put it on sale.
Stayed true to the inspired-love genre and noticed the publisher used editors from the Christian Pen.

Strong romantic tension between Jeb and Amanda continues in this, but the introduction of the Maribelle character puts a fly in the ointment. I loved her and I suspect she will garner a significant fan base. Amanda turns for the better and she and Jeb have wonderful moments throughout working as a team. I think folks will find something to like in both these women as they each fight off their own demons. The growth in the character Sally was also a big surprise. I like the way she and Amanda play off each other. Definitely noted an unresolved story there with Sally.
Note discussion questions at the end of this one. This story courses through so many challenging life situations. It remains clean and wholesome but does have some adult-like topics. Rate it a PG.
The Sevillian story is fantastic. The one with Manuel and Isabella. Very creative. And then it does a great job weaving so many of its elements into the contemporary romance and mystery. I’m now sold on the lavender. Now I remember that lavender was also a thread right from the beginning of the first book. Amanda has her best line by far with regards to the lavender lady.
Like the first book, this one provides a lot of clues. And on that note, this story continues straight from the first book. You’d be lost to jump ahead in the reading. The backstory and characters and setting have already been established. You jump right into the story and it moves. The dialogue moves. Page turner. Very little rehash, but the mystical elements from the first story are pulled back into this one.
I became fascinated by several of the historical references. I thought Captain Croshaw was fiction. And then Jeb’s story about Captain John Smith. Hilarious but true. I found the airfield on BayBerry Island to be true. The Holly Ball is a true annual event. A similar farmhouse with a lighthouse spouting up the middle of it is not far away from the Marina House (thanks Google maps). And who knew Christopher Newport lost his arm in a fight against a Spanish Galleon. The statue as CNU shows him with both arms. The book seems to suggest that it was Manuel Cortez who struck him.
Was glad to see the author hold to the mundane, nuts-and-bolts aspect of the spy world. Nothing over the top. My only complaint is that the additional action and movement came at the expense of scene setting. It has scene setting, but if you’ve gone too long between reads of the first book and this one, it may not be in your memory. No additional maps were put into this release, so you’ll need to pull back that stuff from the first book. I’d suggest they put those maps back in.

Longitude continues with the complex and often fun interaction between Amanda and Jeb. Their path isn't a simple one, though. This book introduces new obstacles. We also learn much more about the history passed on to generations of women in the Northern Neck of Chesapeake Bay. I liked the revelations, and I loved the reaction jealousy sparks in Amanda. She is a quirky, fun, intelligent, and determined character.
