Simon carr is, well he is me, hello. I write comedy Sci-fi and horror books. I started writing in 2018. I am severely dyslexic, on the very high end of the scale. So, writing a book was just me being defiant really, doing something I ought never to have been capable of doing.

I really enjoyed writing my first book, Space And Stuff, so I carried on writing. That makes it sound a lot simpler than it was, but after a lot of learning and editing; so much editing! And going through proofreaders at a rate of knotts, I got my books to a standard that only made a few grammar Nazis heads explode; so it will have to do.

I am from Blackburn in the UK, born in the summer of 1976. I have actually won three awards for my books, I know! I was as surprised as you are. If perfect grammar is your thing then you might want to give them a miss, but if you like satire and goofy scenarios I might be what you have been looking for.

The best thing about this book is the cover and the title. You got to admit that cover is pretty snazzy and we all know Karen’s are AWESOME!

Scream Yell GIF by Teachers on TV Land

The book, however, is a joke. Not as in, “What a humorous story this is” joke. In grade school I could outperform this garbage. Creativity wise, spelling and punctuation. Hell, I could do a better job using a typewriter as far as spelling and formatting is concerned.

This is a story about Karen Pain and her encounter with aliens. Octopus face aliens! They’re like Cthulhu minions. How can you not love that?

But apparently, we need Karen to save the world. This Karen thinks we should be saving the octopus head aliens instead. I will say one thing about this story. I had more fun searching for gifs for my review than reading this stupid story.

I received an arc and this is my honest review.

First, let me channel my inner Karen.

My arc is missing the oh so delightful and humorous cover (which is very disappointing) and also, the title of my book is not Karen but rather some gibberish words (that sometimes happens with .mobi books delivered to a kindle). I want a refund. “But Karen, you didn’t pay for it. It was a free book given for an honest review.” So what? I want to see the manager!

This book is friggin hilarious and if you don’t have the type of sense of humour to be able to handle the Karen’s of the world then don’t read this. Stay far away.

It’s a good thing I was alone when I read this because I was hyperventilating on the floor laughing and clapping like a retarded seal. Yeah, I said it. Big whoop, wanna fight about it? If you can’t handle the politically incorrectness then stay clear of this one.

I highly recommend this book.

I also received an ARC, it is listed in my library as -+4£&67;5#=/:7&£#+/)742#-=/)776;
“GET!
ME!
THE!
FUCKING!
MANAGER!
NOW! you snot nosed, pimple faced poster child for a wasted education and stop crying!”
“How the fecking hell am I supposed to find it when I want to read it again?”
“AND I AM MATE! I BLOODY WELL AM!” It’s that good.

Why?! Why should I tell you how good it is, get your own copy if your that interested or better yet bung us a few quid and I’ll email you my copy just don’t tell that Simon Carr fella.
Alright mate I’ll tell you a bit about it.
It’s about a perfectly reasonable woman and her best mate Emma trying to get by on her Universal Credit and Housing Benefit, looking after her four, might be more, not quite sure whose are hers and which are Emma’s. Then there’s Sharon who doesn’t really count as she’s so far up her own arse all she does is talk shite.
Anyways our heroine is sat on her front lawn having a little cocktail with Emma when these bloody, as in bloody nuisances not covered in blood bloody you numpty, manky looking aliens land in her garden intent on invading the Earth. Well she’s not having it, is she fuck. So after being copied into an inter dimensional portal. What do you mean how, do I look like Albert Einsteinium to you mate I didn’t do Psychics at school. Anyway as I was explaining before you interrupted me, you ignorant twat! Oh fuck it I’m bored now just read the bloody thing yourself.
Oh word of warning keep some Kleenex handy, not for that you dirty perv’ just because you’ll laugh so much you’ll cry and probably wet yourself a little bit.

Spoiler this is written in ENGLISH which we speak in ENGLAND where it was invented you poxy foreigners., so expect words like colour and humour and Aluminium. Nuff said.

Karen by Simon Carr,
Narrated by Skye Alley.

I received a copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Karen, a typical ordinary single mother, struggling to make ends meet, raising her ‘uniquely’ named children on her meagre child support funds. Money is the only thing she is interested in from the several men who are the fathers of her children. I say “ordinary”, but Karen is far from ordinary. She is obnoxious, angry and entitled. With her accidental abduction by aliens - yes, I said aliens - she meets Len and together they concoct the mother of all plans to save the world!

Karen, the book and Karen the character, are both fantastic.
Simon Carr has created a very quirky, eccentric read, and I laughed so much it hurt. We have all seen the memes and the jokes and how a ‘Karen’ has evolved. This novel takes it to another level. The character created by Simon Carr consistently acts inappropriately, rudely, and in a privileged manner plus just has the name ‘Karen’.

The book contains adult language, swearing etc. but it is in context with the style so if you offend easily, this is maybe not the read for you. If, however, you want to laugh hysterically and discover a sci-fi theme like no other, then this is definitely one to add to your pile.

I had the immense pleasure of listening to the audiobook. Skye Alley brings the characters and the story to life. I enjoy audiobooks when I am too busy to read or to entertain whilst completing mundane tasks during the day. I have found some books work and some require far too much concentration to enjoy the story. This was perfect, finding myself laughing out loud whilst listening, wearing headphones and having to explain to bemused onlookers why I suddenly burst out laughing!

I rate Karen 4 out of 5 stars.

An unusual sci-fi story. Karen is a loud , bossy and rather vulgar woman. Her favorite words seem to be "Where is the manager?" The Hobeans are an alien race that have been traveling for nine hundred years with the intention of taking over Earth. When the the aliens encounter Karen and her friend, Emma, chaos ensues. When a second Karen is created, she is able to mess with the plans of the Hobeans both in space and on Earth. I enjoyed the many hilarious scenes in this story and found it an enjoyable read. However, there is a lot of swearing in the book, so if that bothers you give it a pass. I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest and freely given review

Wow. If Terry Pratchett were filthy he would be Simon Carr. I laughed a lot in this book. I may have actually laughed out loud at least once on every page. Karen and Emma are two trashy babymakers living off the government. Karen and Emma are a lot like a female British Beavis and Butthead. Aliens from another planet planning on conquering Earth arrive in Karen's back yard. This is a huge mistake. This book was funny, stupid, filthy and highly entertaining. I am going to track down more by this author and hope they are close to this funny. This book is incredibly immature but definitely not for children.

OMG, this KKKaren (please, let's distinguish the feral KKKarens from the normal and very nice Karens who are horrified by the KKKarens' behavior) is the British version. It's like watching a hysterically funny train wreck that uses every stereotype (and reality) of the KKKaren as she acts a fool and accidentally saves the world.

NOT for children, faint of heart and easily offended.

NOTE: I bought the paperback and I highly recommend that Mr Carr consult with a book designer and proof the books one more time. I didn't take stars off because formatting is a specialty that not everyone has mastered -- yet.

I want to talk to your manager please, I mean leader

Edgy, hilarious and rambunctious all rolled into one. I had a good laugh from start to end.

One name strikes annoyance in those who met her. A woman that fears no threat accepts vegan food. Those who oppose get a tongue lashing of their lives, turning a grown manager into a 6-year old, sobbing in the back-office. Even an alien invasion doesn't phase her.

Prepare for all the profanity coming out of her mouth as she battles for humanity.

The only issues I saw were missing page breaks and minor typos.

Karen a foul mouthed protagonist who goes from lying to get insurance payouts to become the savior and hero of not only the earth but also the rebels in an alien civilization as well. Well written, fast paced reading with lots of laughs to keep you entertained on the way.
Definitely a book to read, though i personally liked the duo from 'Our Fathers' better. If you liked the book 'Our Fathers' by the same author definitely should give it a try

Hilarious Trash

Very inappropriate language and situations, not suitable for juveniles. Laughed all the way through it. Had a little trouble understanding some of the British English.

All hail Karen!

The tale of an awful woman who accidentally saved the earth from devastation. This rollicking tale is full of laughs and highly recommended to adults due to its use of profanity.

"Her people love her. Her enemies fear her. Her cat is indifferent to her." KAREN.

This is the story of Karen, her four children, her best friend Emma, and her two children. They live on government assistance and brow beat or terrorize those with whom they disagree. Then, their lives get turned upside down when an alien messes up an invasion by getting the coordinates wrong on the invasion portal. Instead of a hidden area outside of town it ends up in Karen's yard.

The ensuing battle is not for the faint of heart. There are ray guns that disintegrate flash to leave just the bones. There are car chases. There are farts to the face. When the battles are between a Karen and Commander A$$#0!3 does a good guy really win? Is there a good guy?

Simon Carr's trademark difficulties with using naughty words, with poor spelling, grammar, and form, and his narrator keeping to the story are all present. This book does present the story in a more organized manner than many of his other tales. Again his storytelling is funny and fun. ENJOY!

Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of this book, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review.

After Noobs, I realised that Simon Carr has the sense of humour I liked, that being rude, caustic and foul. It was for this reason that I was so excited to listen to this adventure and, for the most part, it's been just as good, if not better.

So here we have the tale of an alien invasion, years in the making and the Earth woman inadvertently at the centre of the attack and those who seek to threat it. It's full of British humour and a wonderful sense of both Mel Brookes style comedy and the British self-deprecation we're well known for.

The narration is fine, but the lack of a British voice is really detrimental to the audio, and while Skye does a brilliant job of narrating, there is a real sense of missed timing and delivery on jokes that maybe I only us Brits have a clear grasp of.

In all though, it's both a funny book, a charming self-ribbing we love and a guide to how to handle Managers at Nandos.

This is one of those stories where you root for the bad guy (who is Karen). Karen is one of those people who wants all she can get for the government. She signs up for every city county and state program that she can - and somehow she slithers throw and gets them all, but then in the end she fights for us all and becomes the hero. We thank her and then she turns around and spits in our faces. But along the way you are going to have laugh out loud fall off the seat of your chair episodes. And you are going to wonder what is wrong with you, but hey you keep reading the book and you tell all your friends about it

Warning : This audiobook is not suitable for minors, adults of a nervous disposition or anyone called Karen

Once again Simon Carr delivers a madcap, lunacy filled tale from the deep recesses of his dark creative mind.

Karen is a another laugh-out-loud episode in the Apocalyse Blockers series and is filled with hilarious dialog from start to finish

If you're not a fan of British humour or excessive expletives then leave this one on the shelf, otherwise fill your boots and then check out the rest of the books in the series.

Why doesn't this have 5 stars? The use of an American narrator for a book that is very British in tone. But's that's just my opinion being British myself

Karen is a mother. And trust me on this, you seriously do not want to mess with her kids!

When invading aliens kidnap her kids and the neighbour's too, the police and army are slightly too busy getting killed horribly to be of help, so Karen does what any mum would do: she pulls up her big girl pants and goes to get her kids back.

I feel sorry for the aliens......

This is part of the "Space & Stuff" series, and a sequel to both this and "Bob and the Blob", entitled "KarBobEn" has actually just been released; I recommend reading Karen and Bob and the Blob first.

Audiobook: I was entertained by this story. The story featured an alien race that was planning on taking over the earth, but they had to deal with Karen first. The story was amusing and there were times I laughed out loud. There were times that the humor was so extreme that it could also be described as farcical. There was some foul language also. Skye Alley's narration was great, and her performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

OMG, I never laughed so hard lately as I did reading this very politically incorrect book & the authors take on the British version of our "Karen" that truly gives new meaning. This is jewel you will be sharing with friends as you read them excerpts. Not for the faint of heart or fragile but hysterical. I actually read it to a friend in bits and pieces.

Entertaining to say the least. I didn’t know where this story was going to go when I started listening to it on audible. It was a combination of laughing and shaking my head in amusement through the whole thing. I would definitely listen again and recommend as a quick, fun listen if you’re not easily offended haha.

Karen is Rude, sarcastic. Fowl mouthed , has a problem with authority and did I MENTION RUDE. The aliens don't know what they are messing with.
