Jen has never enjoyed the full moon. Not like her family and certainly not like her boss, Rob, whose monthly trysts leave the office in a shambles. Jen turns into a mouse on the full moon, the most disrespected form in the were-community.
Her crush on Rob only makes her deep loneliness and feelings of alienation worse. When her friend steals an amulet with the power to turn were-wolf, Jen decides to try it on... only to find that being a wolf isn't all its cracked up to be.
... HMMM... Where to begin??? How about let's start with a WEREMOUSE... There is just nothing, nothing, that interest me about mice. Nor do I find them sexy. But still, I didn't want to be prejudice, so I tried to get into the story. A bunny I could have tolerated. Those are cute. And known to be sexual creatures. I think I might have enjoyed a WEREBUNNY story. Next, the cover says it's hilarious. I'm going to have to disagree, while the humor started to pick up around chapter 9, it started to fizzle out pretty fast. I felt NOOO chemistry in the romance. I really detest when an author describes something as "non-descript" UNACCEPTABLE!!! What is with the MC? I get it, she's a mouse. But how insecure can you be. This person made me feel small, that person made me feel small. Even as a wolf she complains that she felt belittled. Grow a spine. UGH.
Novelette. Okay but not compelling enough for me to finish. The main dramatic tension is resolved with little fanfare before the book is even finished; same for many of the suspense elements. There were some cute humor touches. I may try to reread and finish this at a later time. I don't really have any interest in the rest of the series.
The unique perspective on shifters and the dynamics that it brings forward make this not only interesting, but thought provoking to read. I can't count how many times I laughed out loud reading about the shenanigans the main character got into and her internal dialogue.
When I read that this was going to be "hilarious" I was skeptical and took it as a challenge to see for myself. I was absolutely not disappointed and never have I been more thrilled to be proven wrong. I have already recommended it to my best friend, and I am sure I will suggest many more people should read it as well.
I cannot wait to dive into the next books in the series as soon as they become available to me. This author is one to look out for.
I hive this book a 5 out of 5 stars, but I wish I could give more.
This is one of those books that r just too much fun to put down. Follow Rob and Jen as they go through the funny and exciting times while trying to see if they are mates. I am a reader that wants the full range of emotions while reading a story, however, there are times when a book his on just three or four emotions and the story is a huge success. Have a seat in your favorite chair get your snacks, something to drink and prepare to laugh, get anxious and smile with satisfaction. Rob doesn't quite know what he wants while Jen does but doesn't know if it will work; their journey to finding the answer will keep you reading.
I did enjoy this book, but I took off a star because I didn't feel like it ended well. It wasn't a cliff hanger leaving you wanting to read more, but there were definitely some loose ends that weren't wrapped up, which was really frustrating...the whole traps, the witch, and wizard for examples. Enough left hanging to be annoying, but not really engaging enough to be considered cliff hanger factors that cause the reader to run out and get the next book.
This was a great introduction to both book series. Both move along at a fast pace and they actually tie up the endings without making you have to get the next book to see what happens. You’re gonna want the next books in the series though. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Absolutely a cute book and even humorous read. I enjoyed Jen and Rob’s relationship, and the character of Ali was just a really fun part of the read. Can’t wait to start book 2… loved 🥰 it, definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a great laugh and start of a romance, full of adventures.
We've all wanted to be something different than what we are, at sometime.
Story of Jennifer learning to appreciate what she is and what she has. Until she gets to: "Yes, like every woman, I had flaws, but they were mine, and I loved them."
I thought is ended rather abruptly. What is Still left unknown as who is catching the were-animals in those traps in the park. Also who is the dangerous wizard killing the were-animals and using dark magic. It had its funny moments when she was stuck in wolf form.
This was a nice and fun book to read for me. Could it have been better? Sure, but it actually kept me interested with the relationship between her and Rob. Not a 4 star, but a nice strong 3 for me. Enough so that I may go for book two.
Interesting twist on shifters, especially with it not being a DNA thing. The mouse in a family of were wolves just doesn't make any sense in my mind. Jen isn't a strong character and kind of a moaner about life, which also brings the rating down for me.
Although the story was okay I was expecting more in the way of romance and comedy as the description said. So I while others might like this I won’t be reading the next book 📖 in this series.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
this one was a little strange for me. I can not get past the fact they went with a mouse as a shape shifter for a were. just seems kind of small to be a were for me.
Do you like the occasional lighthearted but still paranormal read? I do and when I found this book for free, and read what it was about, I was in. It’s novella length but you can get the whole series of five bundled at a reasonable price. Jen is a were-mouse born into a wolf family. That seemed really different, which believe me is becoming more important to me now with all the same sorts of books being published-over and over.
So okay, a were-mouse that hides in a closet during each full moon for fear she will become a werewolf snack. She considers herself a kind of black sheep in her family of wolves. She works as an assistant at a real estate office, where her boss Rob, is a werewolf. She is madly in love with him and he, well he has a different full moon date each month, while looking for a mate. To Jen’s disgust, he sometimes spends the full moon nights at the office. When Rob realizes that Jen must be interested in him after one such occasion, he asks her out for the next full moon date-of course not knowing she is a mouse. Jen’s best friend Ali, is a raccoon shifter and couldn’t be more happy with herself. True to her inner animal nature, she is constantly getting into trouble and taking Jen along for the ride. When Ali steals an magical amulet that can make a person change into a wolf, it could be just the thing Jen needs for a full moon date with Rob. Let’s just say, things get really interesting at this point.
This ended up being a really cute and even humorous read. I enjoyed Jen and Rob’s relationship, and the character of Ali was just a really fun part of the read. The world these characters live in is a world where the supernatural element is not hidden. A vampire is introduced at one point and as much as I love vampire characters, this vampire is described as really pasty faced and looking as dead as he really is-nothing glamorous here. I think the second book of the series may feature him, although it also features Rob and Jen.
As soon as I finished this, I immediately bought and downloaded the When,Were and Howl collection bundle because it was just such a fun read and I wanted to continue with the story. I read so many books that are full of killings, and vicious villains and creatures, sometimes it’s just fun to relax and read a feel good story. This totally fit the bill for me.
FYI I am not sure if the series is finished yet.(RabidReads.com)
This was a fun, light read. I do not mean short, just no overt sex or even heavy petting. Unless you are speaking of the hero petting the heroine when she was in wolf form. There were some laugh at loud moments and some serious moments. I was a little disappointed because the heroine never actually shifted in mouse form in this book other than to tell a few anecdotes of when she was younger. Also, there was no resolution on the bad guys, which to me was the more interesting part of the story. But overall I did enjoy it. I really liked a secondary character named Ali. She did shift in her raccoon form, and she was the most interesting character in the book. She was always getting in trouble and never able to tell the truth. But her lies were so bad they were funny.
Not sure why it came up Wolf n'Mouse, but that is what it was about, so must be the right book!!
This was a cute, short novel - one in a series. The characters were cute and I will try to read more of these 'episodes'. Was better than I expected in some ways, but much like many of the same genre. This book did have quite a bit of humor, which was its' saving grace!
I really enjoyed this shifter tale, being slightly out of the ordinary in that the heroine is a were-mouse, her best friend is a were-raccoon, and she has serious hots for her boss, a were-wolf. So what's a mouse to do? Great start to a series, and will definitely follow up with the others.
Note: I read this in the reissued version, titled Moon Struck.
The storyline was what made me want to read this. a book about a were-mouse was so new that I couldn't resist. But the book changed her from a mouse to a wolf and the whole story ended up being about finding a way to try to turn her human again. Not a bad read just not what I expected
A fun easy read. Magic, were animals, intrigue- what more could you want with a shifter book! Wanting to be someone you're not makes Jen a very believable character and all the trouble she ends up getting into because of it! I think a lot of people could really identify with her.
I thought the story was farfetched but quite intriguing. I liked the dynamics of the relationship between Jen and rob especially the awkwardness. The only thing that I disliked was the end. I mean so many loose ends it made my jaw drop.
