A dark and enigmatic man who can't stand the company of others. A beautiful professor who uncovers folklore mysteries for a living.
A match made in heaven? Or a disaster waiting to happen? When Celtic mythology professor Olivia Harding kisses Lanyon Tremayne at a London wedding, she knows it’s a mistake.
He’s nothing but six foot eight inches of muscular, barely civilized man in a dark suit. His flashing green eyes and wild curly black hair are far more suited to a pirate.
She never has to see him again.
Then her so-called plan is brought to a screeching halt when she heads to St Agnes in Cornwall to carry out research on the local legends. The very same village where Lanyon hides away from the world.
But who is she kidding? She loves nothing more than a mystery, and Lanyon is the biggest one of all.
Could she find her future while looking to the past in St Agnes?
I was born in the beautiful county of Cornwall in southwestern England and grew up in a small village there. I return frequently to visit family and friends but especially to savor the cool rainy weather and hot tea. After school I joined the Royal Navy and served for nearly six years. I held varying jobs from being the only woman in the staff of a sports center to arranging social engagements for the Captain of the base. My last assignment was to Denmark where I thought I would spend a wild two years in Copenhagen only to discover I was being sent to a NATO Headquarters in a quiet town on the Jutland Peninsula. I was only disappointed for a while as I met my own tall, dark, handsome stranger there - a US Naval Officer named Richard who became my husband.
That was the beginning of an itinerant life as from Denmark we went to Sicily where we had our first son. Then it was on to Monterey, California and the birth of our second son. From there we headed to Patuxent River, Maryland where we had our third son. Richard's last assignment was to London where we spent a wonderful three years. Retiring from the Navy he took a job in Brentwood, Tennessee near where he grew up. Now he's retired for the 2nd time and I'm still writing!
I have always been a voracious reader, even at 5 years old my school reports show a keen interest in English and very little in math - some things never change! Although I enjoyed writing in school it wasn't until 2001 that I was tempted to take a creative writing class at a local recreation center which has sparked my new career.
I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoy writing it so sit back, make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a break from everyday life.
Any romance with Cornwall as a backdrop has a head start, and Angela Britnell makes full use of it.
Two well drawn, attractive but damaged main characters, with a wealth of baggage that they manage eventually to stow away and sort out (its a romance! Come on!) make for a very pleasant read. What started as a gentle attempt to read a book by someone I know on line rapidly turned into a proper page turner. Roll on Angela's next book.
To be fair, I always love books set in Cornwall, and this one was no exception. Olivia Harding has arrived from Nashville to research Cornish giant legends and also to start work on her own book. She is introduced to Lanyon Tremayne from Cornwall and it just so happens she has rented a cottage very near to where he lives. Neither were particularly taken with each other and both are hiding secrets from their past, but could things be about to change? Well worth 5 stars.
Olivia is staying in St. Agnes to do research. She's living in the UK for a few months, but is originally from Nashville where she works as a professor, her specialization is Celtic mythology. Via a friend Olivia meets Lanyon, who's the owner of Tremayne House. He's a dark and troubled man who doesn't like socializing. Something that's happened in his past is still bothering him and he can't let go. It's also the reason why he's an outcast in the village. Lanyon and Olivia keep meeting each other. It's clear there's a lot of mutual attraction, but as they are both struggling with the secrets of their past nothing is going right at all. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles or are their secrets keeping them apart?
Celtic Love Knots is a wonderful love story. I loved the setting, a beautiful Cornish village and a large house that needed to be taken care of. The main characters are both very smart. Olivia is a professor and Lanyon is a computer genius. I liked their background and the way they are thinking. Lanyon is dark and mysterious which is intriguing Olivia. He loves her hair and the way she can stand up for herself. Deep down she knows what she wants, but it isn't easy to get it when there are so many people who want her to be different. They have to fight to set themselves free and that process has been described very well. What I also love about this book is how the American has been mixed with the English. It has the charm of both. Celtic Love Knot is filled with mysteries and secrets and slowly they are being revealed. I wanted nothing more than to find out what happened. I'm glad I had the chance to read this book and recommend it to anyone who loves a good love story with plenty of twists.
Angela Britnell does it again. Some how she manages to bring her down home Tennessee charm to everything she touches; this time she blends a “little bit country” with the mysticism of Cornwall.
Olivia, Tennessee’s latest import from the States, arrives in Cornwall to research its old legends and meet Lanyon – Cornwall’s own modern-day Mr. Darcy.
Lanyon’s heart is frozen from loneliness and past heart breaks, choosing to live the life of a reclusive hermit- until Olivia melts his heart and brings him back to life.
Olivia is smart and sassy and takes no gumpf from Lanyon and that playful tension turns into an exciting romance filled story.
Angela Britnell’s writing is beautifully vivid, that I felt like I knew Cornwall and had visited there myself without leaving the comfort of my armchair. Superb, is the only word that comes to mind to describe Celtic Love knot, it will not disappoint.
What a wonderful transcontinental love story is Celtic Love Knot by Angela Britnell. It is the first book I have read by the author and I must say I was quite impressive. The beginning wedding through Lanyon only hinted at Lanyon’s state of life. As he interacts with Olivia, it becomes obvious he is a still waters sort of character. Of course, Olivia comes across as an open book with her lovely Southern charm but that is not the case either. The intriguing characters pull you into their story.
I found Celtic Love Knot to be a great story with real, genuine characters with issues that must be resolved. With the many turns and twists, this becomes a great love story, I could easily see made into a movie. The Cornish setting, including Tremayne House, is one that you can envision in your mind thanks to the author’s amazing descriptive writing. Thanks to Celtic Love Knot I have new go-to author.
At a wedding, Olivia, a beautiful but mysterious American professor, meets Lanyon, who has chosen to become almost reclusive as a result of a tragic accident several years before. Their meeting impacts on them both and when Olivia visits Cornwall to continue her academic research, Lanyon becomes part of her life. Gradually, the story opens up to reveal a mystery in both of their pasts and the couple are able resolve the issues in their lives. A lovely story which captivated me and, being on holiday at the time, I read it in 24 hours.
I hadn't read any of Angela's books before but I have to say she doesn't disappoint so will be looking out for her other books. I love the fact it was set in Cornwall, as I love the place. I found Olivia very interesting and loved Lanyon, I am glad Olivia helps to bring him back to life. I think Angela writes brilliantly and the way she describes Cornwall is beautiful, makes me want to go there. I managed to read this book in a couple of days and will definitely be recommending it.
