A Little Primitive

Rate this book
This contemporary romantic thriller goes beyond the usual genre boundaries and delivers a story of intrigue, humor, history and suspense. Mato, the little primitive, has many talents. Not only is he a fearless warrior and intrepid hunter, but he's a gifted artist and seer.

On a life-or-death mission for his clan, the two-foot tall hero faces a world dominated by giants whose magic has no limits. Fortunately, Mato runs into Tori Lanier, a young woman facing demons of her own. Together, they struggle to make sense of a world that grows more confusing every day.

Once again, Josh Langston has produced a story filled with eccentric characters, clever dialog, cliff-hanging suspense, and surprising plot twists. If you're looking for a page-turner from a proven storyteller, this is it!

Josh writes books which amuse, anger, enlighten and entertain. He regularly mines history for background material that's little known but reliably fascinating. His plots are complex, interconnected and layered with humor and suspense; his characters are rarely predictable, and even his bad guys tend to be both engaging and diabolical.

A graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in journalism, Josh's writing tastes quickly shifted away from reportage. His fiction has been published in a variety of magazines and anthologies, and he currently has two short story collections in the Amazon top 20 for genre fiction.

Josh has branched out more recently into contemporary thrillers and currently has eight such titles on the market along with an historical fantasy trilogy set in the 1st century BC, plus a handful of short story collections.
Oh, Bits! his latest novel, is a paranormal mystery/romance set in Atlanta during WWI. Published by Janda Books, Oh, Bits! debuted in July, 2017.

The title "A Little Primitive" conjures up many possibilities but a two foot tall warrior is certainly not your first thought. The tale Josh weaves is one of half western half paleontologist with a large portion of criminology thrown in. The cast of characters seems a mix of country folks, New York publishers, a no good Redneck and probably the countries best kept secrete deep in the hills of Wyoming.
Through Josh's extensive knowledge of the south and his unique blend of characters, he is able to make the purely preposterous perfectly believeable with a sense of humour and description which makes this book a hoot to read.

An exotic, never before kind of book taking creativity to new heights!!!

I definitely did not expect the story I came across when I started reading this book. It has an enchanting character who soon becomes irresistible, a courageous girl who is incognito because of an abusive ex-husband, a dog who is part Rottweiler/part golden retriever along with a little bit
of a bison all of whom make this book a thoroughly delightful and fabulous read. The supporting characters are equally endearing.

The exhilarating narrative, events meshing with one another though keeping the reader on tenterhooks from time to time add to a sense of adventure!

Near the beginning when she first discovers 'him' and bends over to show 'him' her underwear, I'm thinking this story has the potential for a little kinky romance. Boy, was I wrong! Nothing kinky here, and that's not all bad. A wonderful, very entertaining story with a lot of sub-plotting going on as it unravels. Great character development, clean editing job, and a plot that keeps you glued to the end.

Fabulous fiction

This book was without a doubt one of the best books I have read since I signed up for kindle unlimited ( about 300books). The story is wonderfully creative, based on the author’s wild spin off an archeological discovery of actual remains of a little person- “hobbit”. With most writers I can predict the plot but with this book I just enjoy a delightful adventure. Enjoy 💜

A most unusual novel

Josh Langston has earned my admiration for a most delightful novel that combines adventure with some harrowing moments that would keep any reader on his toes. The book was well-written, and the plot well-defined, especially for history buffs.

Interesting

Liked the how the author jumped between the different characters. This surprised me because it can often become annoying in my opinion.

As someone who appreciates an original story, this one absolutely fills that. It's so original, in fact, it was hard to put down until the end. Humor and mystery makes this a delight to read.

I couldn’t move past certain comments such as referring to a scar as something which would impress a black gang and referring to the “Indian” as Tonto. I saw no humor in it.

This clever novel is a quirky, well-written tale about a young woman named Tori who is hiding out from a psychopathic ex-husband in the wilderness of Wyoming. The story takes a unique twist when a two foot tall Indian named Mato, from a lost tribe known as The People, shows up beneath her cabin. Mato, who has been wounded by Tori's cat, has a passion for Lynyrd Skynyrd and an artistic bent. He is also a warrior and visionary on a quest to help his tribe. While nursing Mato back to health, he and Tori form an unlikely bond...a bond that proves useful when Tori's husband finds her. A definite must read, this fast-paced novel will entertain and charm you. I cannot wait to read the sequel!
