Holy ending, Batman! I really enjoyed this book!! I went into it not knowing it was the start of a series, and not interconnected standalones, so the ending really took me by surprise! But it was so well done and the story as a whole was really, really good! I loved seeing Nikoletta's character arc, and how she grew and evolved! Her story alone was so heart wrenching to read! And knowing now that it will lead into a series, I'm really excited to see more of the arc for Konstantin. His unwavering loyalty to her is just so beautiful! Not to mention, the super solid side characters that we get to meet and love in this book! I'm a sucker for solid friendships, and this book has them!! The writing was so well done, the twists absolutely shocked me, and I just really enjoyed this book overall! I can't wait to see what happens next!!

I'm a sucker for a forbidden/mafia/age-gap romances, so when i saw the tags i immediately applied for the Arc. And boy oh boy, even if it really had me guessing at the start, in the end it didn't disappoint.
I liked the world building and the DRAMA.
Well, i didn't like the characters much . But the plot kept me going until the cliffhanger made me want the next book NOW.
And it was spicyyyyyyyyyyyy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Like ghost pepper spicy
I would recommend it if you like the tropes: godfather-goddaughter, Dad's Best Friend, Mafia, Forbidden romance, Accidental (or not so much accidental) pregnancy, breeding.
But still read the Content Warnings before you dive in!!

too weird. grooming vibes
The main male character is too old for the main female character. If the author hadn’t added that he used to love the main female character’s mother, this would have been my type of story. It was also weird that he basically raised her. This rubbed me the wrong way. It would have been a good story without this information.

Thank you to Beck and Love Notes PR for the ARC copy of this book. This review is my own opinion and is given voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this book. There were times that the FMC was trying to be threatening and it gave more “tantrum” but it didn’t happen enough to be a real issue with the flow of the narrative.
Having read a lot of mafia-esque romances, there were some aspects/plot lines that were to be expected but Beck threw in a few curveballs which I appreciated!
Would recommend for all dark romance, mafia, bratva fans… but beware the cliff hanger 😂

Twisted Cage was really good. It is a taboo romance between a godfather & goddaughter, with a 30 year age gap.
The characters were pretty complex, despite not much backstory. There’s a lot that isn’t described in too much detail, that is meant to just be taken as face value. I do appreciate the fact that the author didn’t feel the need to relentlessly talk about things that took away from the plot of the romance story. Some books will just go on and on about things that really don’t matter to the plot, but this wasn’t like that.
There’s a big revealing shock at the end where we see a secret come to light, that if it’s revealed, all hell will break loose. It is revealed at the end, and the book is then left on a cliffhanger. This book left me wanting more, and I cannot wIt to read the second installment, when it comes out in July. I just NEED to know what happens next. This truly was an addicting read.

Ends on a cliffhanger that I wasn’t aware of. Heroine started out great but by the 90% I was honestly so tired of the back and forth that I don’t think I’ll read the second book. There was no need for two books this easily could have been resolved and then had some of the drama continue with a different couple.

ARC review. Read the description and ALL the contect warnings before reading this book. It is a dark mafia romance, large age gap (30yrs), taboo (godfather & goddaughter) and has knife & blood play. And in the author's own words, "A little bit of Lactophilia *shrug* -I make no apologies, I thought it was kind of *side eye* too, until he did it and then, welp *shrug*." That scene is very hot.
If any of that sounds ick, don't read this book, it's not for you. If you are still with me then lets have fun.
Konstantin has been in Nikoletta's life since before she was born, he was made her godfather and protector, then when she was 16, she was sent away without him. They reunite when she's 18 and attempting to sell her virginity to get money to escape her family, he buys her. Oh the pining and tension in this book is top notch. Nikoletta has been lusting after him since she was 16 (unknown to him) and once he sees her in the club, he can't stop his lust and eventually has to give in.
My favorite aspect of the story is a one year gap that happens after they are caught getting it on in a church, on top of the alter (not the only scared place they defile, there's also a cemetery!).
During that time Nikoletta loses her last bits of naivety and softness and becomes vengeful and stabby. Konstantin also shreds parts of himself (murders all over town) in the search for her and when they are reunited they are like two frayed nerves crashing into each other. There is lust but also a deep desire to take out their emotional pain via knives, blood, and physical pain. They truly one up each other and don't back down. I can't believe it ends in a cliffhanger!! Especially while they get hot and heavy from murdering people in a murder room. Can't wait for book 2! Supposedly coming in July.

Beck Knight has singlehandedly reactivated this godfather/goddaughter—uncle/niece—taboo obsession in me, and now I am feverishly searching for books to scratch the itch. But nothing coming close. Believe me—I’ve read them all. Every one. And still, this one has me spiraling.
This is not even a review of the book itself. I can’t even talk about that. This is just me enraged and spiraling.

And then… just so? Nothing.
The book came out in early 2024, and now we’re in May 2025. Beck Knight has been giving updates—but every time she gives a date, it gets pushed back again. And again. The most recent date I saw was sometime in August, but honestly? It probably getting pushed again too. She’s been shifting release dates since last year.
What kind of madness is this? I find the book that finally hits every single one of my buttons—and the rest of the series just keep getting delayed like it’s running from me. I stretched this book out like it have gold inside, reading one page a day like it would suddenly spawn a sequel if I waited long enough.
What am I supposed to do now? Go and ask ChatGPT to finish the book for me? Because Beck Knight refusing to bring it out? What shit is this?! She making me cuss, yes.
I don’t even have faith we getting another installment anytime soon. And that’s what has me SO mad. Because I didn’t just like this story—I needed it. And now it feel like I get ketch in something with no way out.

I’m so glad we finally get Nikoletta and Konstantin’s story ! I’ve been dying to get back to these two since the novella Twisted Lust!
I really loved this story, the Bratva and forbidden age gap was done really well!
There were plenty of twists thrown in that I honestly didn’t see coming .
I could truly feel the anguish these two were suffering for one another.
I lovedddddd when Konstantin would get annoyed w Nick’s behavior and call her a little $h!t! She was and I loved every second of her .
That cliffhanger was WHOA, and I’m anxious for the rest of this series !

I am in my age gap, forbidden romance era and this book left no crumbs! With an age gap of 30 years, I said yes please lmao.
Nikoletta, although young, is so strong and such a badass! Konstantin, her protector all her life, was just 🥵🥵🥵. Their chemistry, their story, and the TWIST! I couldn’t put this book down at all.
10/10 recommend and I cannot wait for the second book after that absolutely insane cliffhanger. I’m so ready!

If you enjoy dark and twisted mafia stories you are in for a treat. Our main FMC was a mafia princess and knew as soon as she turned eighteen she would be forced to be married. She had another other idea and boy was it a doozy. She was saved by a very close family friend and things get very interesting from there. The plot will keep you glued until the last page.

I really enjoy Beck Knight’s interconnected stand-alone stories. The spice and suspense never disappoint. I loved watching Nikoetta evolve into such a strong woman. Her story was heart wrenching and intriguing. I love how loyal and protective Konstantin is to her. It’s unwavering and solid. And that cliffhanger – holy cow! I can’t wait for the next book!
Beware the trigger warnings. This book is electrifying, but also could be triggering to some. Thank you to the author for gifting me this awesome read in exchange for an honest review.

From the very first page, the author expertly sets the stage, painting a vivid picture of Konstantin's role as Nikoletta's godfather and protector, a bond forged before she was even born. 👼 As the years passed, their connection deepened, building an undercurrent of tension that simmered beneath the surface, waiting to be unleashed. 💥

BUY THIS BOOK!!!!! If hot forbidden age gap Bravta romance is your thing! Your going to love Beck Knights new dark syndicate romance Twisted Cage!!! Its fucking phenomenal!!!! I love this forbidden age gap romance so much!!! Both the MMC and the FMC are amazing! And the chemistry between Konstantin and Nikoletta is volatile, sizzling and all consuming leaving the reader breathless! The balcony scene and later at the cemetery was so! Fucking hot!!! Their lovemaking was as primal as it gets! And I loved it!😅 Their love is a forbidden and taboo and with a war bearing down on them and those around them they must navigate the treacherous waters and what this could mean to their future. And then theirs Konstantin's betrayal that drove Nikoletta to go on the run! In the year Nikoletta has been gone Konstantin has left chaos and destruction in his wake and when he isn't leaving messes for Nikolaj to clean up he's down in the underground crypt reading Nikoletta's diary that Vlad left for him to make him suffer even more! The memories of the night they shared and reading her diary some how calming the beast he's become. In the year they've been apart the once innocent Nikoletta has become a strong woman who is more deadly and dangerous then most of her fathers soldiers and the girl Konstantin knew is long gone and in her place a savage beauty who is done being put in a cage!! She has a secret and its worth walking through the fires of hell to protect! While she still might invite Konstantin back into her bed it will be him kneeling in the end! I got to read some of Beck Knights earlier short stories and I know a awesome writer when I see one!! Her storytelling and storylines are amazing with a fast paced world and some very intriguing characters both main and secondary! I can guarantee that this dark Romance writer is a rising star and will be a constant one click for me!! This does end on a cliffhanger! After a climaxing end( no pun intended) in the cemetery that left my heart hammering in more ways then one and later down in the basement I was like not yet! 4.5 stars! I wasn’t sure quite how this story was going to play out, that trigger warning list, well, it was a doozy. And this one is a big age gap, 30 years, so it’s definitely pushing boundaries there as well. I’ve read my fair share of dark, forbidden romances, so I was looking forward to a good, spicy read. And honestly, in the beginning I didn’t know if I was going to like these characters. I was wrong.
Nicoletta is young, no question. She most definitely comes across as having a very teenage style crush on her godfather, Konstantin. This is a crush that she’s had for quite some time, and one that appears to have gotten her sent away at age 16, just to keep her away from him. But Nicolette’s life hasn’t been all sweet and sheltered. She’s dealt with some pretty severe torment and abuse at the hands of her half brother, while her father only added to the mental anguish, using her as more of a commodity in the mafia world than a daughter. Only her brother Nicolaj seems to be invested in her safety and happiness, but he’s got his own battle he’s waging. Well, her brother and the only other man who has always been there to protect and keep her safe, Konstantin.
Because Nicoletta is young, there is a fine line here that I think the author does a good job at not crossing that could make this story a bit more untenable. The first interactions here are between an 18 year old Nicoletta and a 48 year old Konstantin. She’s trying to take control of a part of her life her father is trying to commoditize, and when Konstantin intervenes, things get quite interesting. I feel like I shouldn’t actually like him. But it seems clear that prior to this one particular incident, he never saw her as anything more than his goddaughter, who he swore to protect at all costs. But in this one instance, suddenly things are flipped upside down, and his path into the abyss is swift and thorough. She gets under his skin, and once he lets her in, there is no getting her out. Even when things go sideways and she disappears for a year, his obsession never fades, even though her feelings most definitely take a turn for the unfavorable. Not to mention the fact that he really has very little self control when it comes to her, and it’s shocking that they aren’t found out sooner with some of the choices he makes.
What starts as this forbidden and steamy story, evolves into a much more complicated coming of age story for Nicoletta, and a finding his heart story for Konstantin. She isn’t blind to the world they live in, and she absolutely has a very dark and twisted side of her own, one which Konstantin finds himself all the more attracted to, even when (or especially when) it’s directed at him. They have a very much love/hate relationship, with each side fluctuating between these two poles throughout the book. Their secrets, their stories, their love, their lust, it all takes them through an emotional grinder. And since this is the first book of a duet, we are left with one helluva cliffhanger. They have a complicated and truly challenging set of circumstances to overcome, from multiple angles, and I can’t wait to get the next part of their journey!

I was helplessly drawn into this dark, action and suspense filled Mafia Romance! Holy forbidden passion, Batman! This may not be for everyone but I will shamelessly admit that I clutched my pearls with Konstantin every moment he was on the page (which is a lot lol). He's a muscle riddled, suit wearing, double gun toting, angel wing tattooed, force of nature!
We have a fiery 19 yr old Bratva princess in Nicoletta. She has coaxed an ember of love to a flaming torch for her protective Godfather/bodyguard Konstantin (Kostya, 49yrs). Having taken bullets to protect her over the years and assist in his found family's nefarious dealings, he's also felt a kind of love he knows he shouldn't have brewing.
The push and pull is just as sweltering as what becomes these two's love/hate relationship. It's not easy, their feelings are messy, he's terribly conflicted and I loved that! There's resentment and betrayal felt by Lettie when a secret comes to surface. The seed of doubt planted in her mind and how she bevomes hardened over the year they spend apart adds a wonderful growth to her. She is galvanized through her past traumas and becomes her own warrior.
On the flip side, it was near heartbreaking to see what the fallout of Letties actions does to Kostya's resolve. His fury becomes more unhinged but his love is more fierce. It's appropriate for a man and beastly anti hero such as he to act out in such ways though. His grappling with his intense emotions (whether it's anger, fear to protect her, lust, love) manifests by way of increasing brutality but at the center of it, I know it's comes from a place of pain.
I can't wait to discover more of that source of pain as well as more nuances to their newly evolving dynamic in the second book because this cliffhanger ending has me seated like a woman in a desert begging for water! I need book 2 yesterday!

1. I didn't finish. I usually don't mark DNFs as "read" but I read 85% of this book. I'll probably flip through the last 15% just to see what happens.
2. I don't like mafia books. I thought the age gap/forbidden factor would be enough for me to make an exception. Every moment of plot was almost unbearable for me. I decided to start skimming to just relationship building/romance sections and honestly - that was a chore. This is because both characters have an insane amount of internal monologues. Pages upon pages upon pages of what they are thinking. The dialogue is broken up by so much other misc bullshit that I forgot what they were talking about most of the time. I would have to flip back to see what a character said to know what was going on. I just was not having a good time.
Their romance was ok. It felt like instalove with a dash of years of unrequited love on the part of the FMC. She was obsessed with her godfather (we learn this through her journal entries). He didn't see her as an option until all of sudden.
That first sex scene was HOOOTTTTT. Then they spend a year apart immediately. They never get a chance to talk. When they reunite, it becomes a giant miscommunication trope (or just lack of communication). Shes making assumptions about him and he has no idea what her issue is. This doesn't stop them from engaging in public sex acts and STILL NOT A CONVERSATION TO BE HAD about why she up and left for a year.
I think I read that this book also has a cliffhanger so I am just not invested enough to give a shit about these characters to suffer through more of them not talking and just fucking.
Gave this book an extra pity star simply because of his filthy mouth and that first sex scene.

I am OBSESSED! If I could give this book more stars, I’d give an infinite amount. The storyline is captivating and edgy, the characters are well developed and likable. I loved the dynamic between Konstantin and Nikoletta and how it slowly moves from godfather and goddaughter to man and woman. Nikoletta is so well written that she doesn’t read like an 18/19 year old. If the age gap isn’t your thing, you might still be able to read this. I often had to remind myself of the age gap. It’s done in a subtly delicious way, dropping jabs like “old man”, “boomer”, and “little girl” without making it creepy.
You see the protective nature of Konstantin shift from godfather to fierce lover and I was here for it all!
Oh and the group chat towards the end between Konstantin and his men had me laughing almost to tears. Oh my, Dimitri is precious and I hope we see more of him in the series.
Now to the plot twist and cliff hanger.
I guessed the plot twist. Not because it was super obvious, no because I constantly try to guess to see if I’m right and that just felt like it was right. Anyway, Beck did a really good job dropping subtle hints about the twist, but not to many or to obvious to make it less shocking.
The cliffhanger, damn, why did you have to go and do that! I figured Nikolaj would find out, but that last line, REALLY!!!
I think this might be a re-read and it will definitely be a recommendation to anyone and everyone.

You see the protective nature of Konstantin shift from godfather to fierce lover and I was here for it all!
Oh and the group chat towards the end between Konstantin and his men had me laughing almost to tears. Oh my, Dimitri is precious and I hope we see more of him in the series.
Now to the plot twist and cliff hanger.
I guessed the plot twist. Not because it was super obvious, no because I constantly try to guess to see if I’m right and that just felt like it was right. Anyway, Beck did a really good job dropping subtle hints about the twist, but not to many or to obvious to make it less shocking.
The cliffhanger, damn, why did you have to go and do that! I figured Nikolaj would find out, but that last line, REALLY!!!
I think this might be a re-read and it will definitely be a recommendation to anyone and everyone.

Primero que nada gracias a lovenotes.pr (en instagram) y a la autora por este ARC. Este es el primer libro que leo de esta autora.
Este es el primer libro dentro de la serie Heirs of Deceit. Antes de leer les recomiendo que primero lean las advertencias, ya que es un dark romance.
Unos de mis tropes favoritos son los mafia romance y más cuando tienen doble punto de vista. Algo negativo de este libro, es que sentí que la historia en algunos momentos avanzaba un poquito rápido.
La forma de escribir de la autora me gustó y los plot twist que hay no te los esperas.
Podemos del cliffhanger del final? Ahora quiero saber lo que sucederá en la próxima historia.
