Grimm's War #8

Grimm's Legacy

Rate this book
One captain. One ship. One chance to save everything he loves.

Captain Jacob T. Grimm has lost his ship. Relegated to training duty, he's a warrior without a war. Until an assassin strikes, leaving Nadia wounded and the Alliance on the defense.

The Fleet Admiral needs every ship to strike at the Caliphate and end the war. Which leaves only one problem, Alexandria will be defenseless. There's only one man who can fill the void.

Commanding a nameless, untested battleship, Jacob must defend Alexandria against a Caliphate Task Force armed with an experimental juggernaut. Outnumbered and outgunned, he rallies a ragtag crew to face the impossible... one more time.

If he fails, Alexandria burns—and Nadia dies with it. If he succeeds, he loses his command and his uniform.

it was too short. the story needed more time to simmer.

it felt like ordering an 8oz porkchop, only receiving 6oz and it was raw in the middle.

Pretty damn good

A very well thought out, storyline with a few twists along the way and with all the usual crowd thrown in for good measure
By the end of the book, you wonder whether the President and Admiral knew what was likely to happen from the very beginning and knew Grimm was the man to be the necessary scapegoat should one be needed
The first half of the book is quite slow, but manages to keep you interested with all of the old crews comings and goings and the odd bit on action thrown in for good measure
The second half of the book focuses on the defence of Alexandria and Grimms unorthodox approach
Can't wait for book 9

Grimm’s War no.8

Grimm’s Legacy, The eight book in the series does not disappoint. Mr. Haskell continued to provide a fast pace story populated by now familiar characters who made up the crew of the new battleship “17”. Without giving away the details of the plot. I will say that although parts of the story touched upon previous plots in the series. The author did a good job of building the drama layer by layer till the dramatic ending. Which actually was found in the last page of the book. I totally enjoyed it, a quick satisfying Sci fi story. Cant wait for book number 9.

GRIMM’S LEGACY is just as breathtaking as the rest of this series. The writing is superb, the plot is remarkable yet believable, and the ending is exceptionally phenomenal! Your heart will be in your throat. Captain Grimm, Nadia, and Elsa follow their duty and their hearts into almost impossible situations while the reader tags along hoping against hope that they will survive One. More. Time . . .

Great continuation

Great continuation of the story. Really glad that interceptor got retired, was getting to be the most unbelievable part that they kept him on that ship. Looking for to more!

This is a genuinely brilliant series, and as such this book deserves five stars, why have I given it four?

Fabulous! The best book yet in the series! When it appears that Captain Grimm has been relegated to a training role, a wrinkle develops and he is thrust back into command. The challenges are many, and he and the crew have to overcome odds that seem even more daunting than usual for the intrepid captain. Nadia has her own challenges to help save the Alliance. The book is well worth the read! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Another Winner

I put of reading this because I knew I would devour it quickly. Haskell captures the essence of.military service. Honor. Duty. Country. His characters seem real and capture your attention. Groom's speech spot on and brought a year to my eye. Maybe because I served 29 years and come.from a military family.

Excellent book in an excellent series. I cannot recommend it enough.

Grimm’s Legacy by Jeffery H. Haskell is a gripping military sci‑fi space‑opera where Captain Jacob Grimm takes command of an untested battleship to defend Alexandria against a powerful Caliphate juggernaut. With high-stakes naval combat, tough moral choices, and a fiercely loyal crew, it delivers pulse-pounding action, themes of duty and redemption, and emotional stakes that resonate—especially as Grimm fights not just for victory, but to protect all he holds dear. Another great installment….

If you have not read any of these, start with book one and enjoy the ride. Great characters that you come to love, sprawling universe, political factions, secret agents, assassins, and grueling space battles. Haskell has given us a grand space opera. I cannot wait for the next round.

On the good side:
Good characters, interesting plot.

Cons:
More focus on the techno-wizardy/weapons than the prior books, I'm not interested. Just tell me that the thing goes boom and I'm happy.
Ending was pretty anticlimatic and left us with lots of questions about Nadia. Everything got wrapped up with a shiny ribbon and bow, although some long running characters were hurt.

Captain Grimm is given an important job, command of a completely refitted space battleship to patrol close to home, while the fleet waits to engage with the Caliphate. A slower than usual adventure ensues, while his super spy wife Nadia goes on her own hunt for enemy spies much too close to home. Very good.

GW#8

Another Grimm-against-the-bad/guys book. Exciting as always, with new way to save the day. A Run silent, Run Deep type of ending, only with more of the longer lived companions killed. Still more to go in the saga, and cannot wait. Can guess how it comes out, but will buy and read all the same.

Excellent book in an excellent series.
I like Haskell's ideas of space combat, the universe he's created and particularly the characters he's populated it with.
Add in the fact that his books aren't just well written but are also Fun to read and, thus far, his books are a sure thing when it comes to making my reading list.

Excellent

This a book that the author has really outdid himself in the writing of this story. Mr. Haskell has put Grimm in the most dangerous situation that him and his crew has ever been in to date. Really makes you look forward to the next book.

Great lead-in!

I think it is wonderful that the author gave a synopsis of each previous book in the series. For those of us who have read the series over years of time, it really helps!

A sci-fi series where EVERY book gets better!

Mr. Haskell has sent me all over the Galaxy. I have fought battles on distant planets and among the stars. It is quite rare how he is able to produce one exciting book after another IN ONE SERIES! BRAVO

This was a bit of a weaker entry in this series. There was a lot more story to tell than what we got. Entertaining for the most part but felt like it was completed to meet a deadline not that the story was complete.
