She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!
She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.
She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!
Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.
I enjoyed this novel. Of course northern WI is my favorite place to go for vacation so that didn’t hurt. For once the main female character was strong, logical, clear headed and the doctor boyfriend was a bit emotionally stunted. It is understandable but any growth was not real noticeable. This was one of those love/hate books, constant turmoil between the main characters. That gets old. I’d rather see them work together. The plot was interesting. You have a lot of compassion for the main character who it would seem is over her head in hospital struggles and life in general. She always does the right thing, keeps her head, and doesn’t seem to get angry with her recently adopted kids. The doctor always reads her wrong, says snarky things, but does get over it. But, it never seems he learns from his mistakes, just that he loves her and can’t stay away. It felt very juvenile. As my kids say, he wasn’t adulting very well. Overall, I would say read this. It was entertaining and I learned several things about hospital administration.
Dangerous Move by Roxanne Rustand Northern Pines Suspense Book Two Erin Lang is starting over. Life with their three adopted children was too much for her ex-husband. As the new administrator of the Blackberry Hill Memorial Hospital, she’s ready to move on, but she never expected to see the man who’d been married to her cousin in town. Kendra had told her about Connor before she died, and they weren’t good. Dr. Connor Reynolds isn’t living. He’s full of regrets. And now his late wife’s cousin is renting the cabin on his uncle’s property, bringing back more memories. And her three kids remind him of all he lost when he lost Kendra. Erin may not trust Connor, and he doesn’t plan on staying in Blackberry Hill, but when mysterious deaths happen at the hospital…it concerns them both, and they need to work together to solve it. I liked the characters…adults, kids, and four-legged ones. The storyline pulled me in from beginning to end, too. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
A doctor falls in love with the single hospital administrator and her kids.
First time reading this author. Connor and Erin story was very interesting Someone had a score to settle with them both. Erin had been in love with Connor for a long time. But he married her cousin instead. That cousin destroyed his chance at being a father by putting their daughter up for adoption. Thank the Lord Erin adopted Haley and a chance meeting brought Connor into their lives. This investigation that Erin was doing brought hard feelings between she and Connor for awhile. But it was all resolved. After Theo almost getting killed. It was all resolved at the hospital. Connor stuck by Erin through it all. His love for her had never stopped. They even were able to tell Haley that Connor was her dad. He also became Drew and Theo dad after he married Erin. Will read more by this author.

The multifaceted plot engaged me from the start. The main characters “had a history” but that relationship was a quick backdrop to their present relationship.
Allowing the children a POV pulled me into their world—past affecting the now. A hospital administrator and physician was an interesting romantic dynamic.
Love this story. She remembers him from college, big crush, but he belongs to her cousin. They saw each other briefly at her cousins funeral then they just happen to end up working at the same small hospital in Northern Wisconsin. She adopts his 8 year old daughter and finds out that her cousin lied and he had no idea he had a child. There's trouble brewing at the hospital and between them but it all comes together in the end.
A one of a kind mystery romance. Erin as a single parent has a ton to deal with. Romance that might not end in a HEA was not part of her life right now. Trying to juggle 3 adopted kids on her own was tough but add a full time job as a hospital administrator to her load and there's scarcely time to breathe let alone enter a romance. Book will hold you all the way - well written and I really liked it.
Erin Lang has moved to a new place to start her life over with her 3 adopted children after her husband left and asked for a divorce. She has a new career as a hospital administrator. Then she runs into an old acquaintance who is a doctor there for a short time. But she has a secret that she is keeping from him. Will he discover what it is? Also there are odd things going on at the hospital - strange deaths. Can she get to the bottom of it before it is too late?
Great read. Rustand did a great job keeping my attention throughout Dangerous Move. I enjoyed the plot, characters, the suspense, and danger. We learn more about the children Drew, Theo, and Haley whom Erin adopted. This story includes secrets, mysterious incidents at the hospital, and a cute puppy. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
This book touched on a number of important issues. Child neglect and abuse, adoption, hospital funding and potential malpractice. The main characters navigate all this with integrity and the relationship simmers in the background. I found the discovery of the troublemaker at the end rather weak but thoroughly enjoyed the whole book and will read more by this author.
That was an ending I wasn't expecting! I enjoyed this story, especially with the foster/adoption thread, since adoption is close to my heart. It's a difficult topic, but I love how Connor embraced the children, not just Haley. Of course, Connor and Erin finally getting past all the miscommunication and doubts, and finding love after loss was so sweet!
I liked both main characters and how they communicated with each other. There were some bumps in the road for these two, but I really enjoyed how they worked through their misunderstandings and communicated.
Overall, a solid closed door romantic suspense book
At a hospital she had just started her job. People dying that should have recovered from an illness, heart attack, surgery. Dr Connor and Erin were trying to find out who it was. Erin has 3 children she is trying to adopt. There is so much more. Read now
Troubled children, a loving woman. Having a family had always been Erin’s dream. A family but a broke one. A few twists and turns and things begin to get better. Such caring people are in this story. I enjoyed every minute of this book was enjoyable.
This is another great story by this author! It combines mystery and suspense, along with themes of trusting and forgiveness. I could not figure it out until the last few pages. Great characters and well written!
Life has some surprising twists and turns that are unexpected but are really the best thing that could happen. This is one of those stories. It is well written and an enjoyable story.
I loved this book so much & I'm on my second book. I think I will be reading all her books. I am looking forward to reading more. I am thankful I found her books!
This book is well written and has wonderful characters, but this story just isn't for me. There's too much anguish all the way around. I did not finish the book.
