I'm Author C. Monet of Clarksville TN. I write transparent creative romance with a splash of urban. My stories feature, smart, witty boss women and swoon-worthy, loving, flawed men all looking for one thing..... LOVE. Yes, you guessed it I write about love. My novels usually center around instalove, opposites attract, and redemptive love. However, I've been known to come up with love that cant be placed in a box. All in all, love is the motive no matter how it's reached. My books will leave you full; full of love, gems, and pieces of me.
Once life started to happen for and around me I grabbed the pen and decided to unmute my truth. I pen love unfiltered and undefined because rules can’t exist with creativity. The poetry in my words takes you to a place filled with dreams and aspirations of love and how it heals the soul.
I love this author, but I just didn't connect with these characters.
Komante came off groupy-ish and cringy at times. The romance did not build or flow for me. He had one job protect her.
Salt was like, "Quit/ or rather you are fired, Let's neglect our responsibilities and just travel randomly and he said "bet" What? 🤦🏾♀️
She loved her mother so much and was upset that her mother had not reached out, but never once made an effort to go see her. Like Who comes home after being gone for years and not visit their parent? 🤷🏾♀️ She wasn't busy enough with "work" or learning her new job to travel.
"Murray nodded, a small, grateful smile forming on his lips."
🤔 So are we just gonna pretend that Murray didn't murk someone after ruining a shipment to cover up his deeds in order to sabotage his sisters' rule?
I really enjoyed this book. It had my attention from beginning to end. I loved Kamante and Salt's journey. Kamante was a protector and nurturer and proved to Salt just how much of a lover he can be when given the chance. I was happy that Salt got the closure she needed from her mother and the apology from her brother. Kamante and Salt deserved their happily ever after, surrounded by the love of their families.
I’ve grown to love this author but…this wasn’t it for me. 🫤 The plot line was full of gaps that made the story feel incomplete. I couldn’t connect at all.
**ALL SPOILERS BECAUSE I HAVE QUESTIONS**
Start with why this 30 something year old woman has gray hair. And did her mama have it too, I think there was a quick blurb about her being the one that gave her the hair but it was quick. Salt is her nickname, she has gray hair okay…and what did that add to the story or character?
If your father suddenly steps down and leaves you the family business, wouldn’t you ask some questions. Mainly, why?
Daddy appointed her and dipped. Never to be heard from again until he summoned her again several months later. Why didn’t he show her the ropes of running this family empire? How would she know what to do if she’d been gone for 5 years?
So with all this “security” the girl wasn’t ever in any danger other than her silly ass brother trying to scare her off?! All of this “protection” and your dumb ass brother is the only person trying to move on you. Yeah…ok…🙄
Are we to believe that living in London means you can never call or FaceTime your family? How didn’t she know her mom was sick?
Further, she come home for several months and NEVER went by her parent’s house? She NEVER went to see her mama. Mad or nah, you just sit and wonder why she hasn’t contacted you???
How can you be mad at anyone about them keeping a secret that never had to be a secret if you would’ve been normal and checked on your folks. Especially, once you were in the same city. That whole “conflict” and break up pissed me off because it was weak and nobody’s fault but hers.
Hell, was Tamela at the fune? She disappeared after the vacation and didn’t pop up until their reconciliation. But also, where was the conversation where she confronted Tamela about the secret keeping?
Salt did not have a good heart and was not a generous loving person, why would Komante describe her as such? When did she display these characteristics? Ever?
Also, I find it funny how you’re so upset about everyone keeping the secret of your mothers illness yet the moment you find out about it, you jet back to London and move on with your life like it’s nothing. Yet, we’re supposed to believe that this secret was enough to break up your already questionable family relationships and your life long friendship along with your romantic relationship. Girl, stop! You didn’t give a damn before or after.
Probably lead with the fact that the woman’s name was Delicious Perry AND explain it! It’s a bit unorthodox, eh?
But of course, a sprinkle of baby paprika. 🙄
Two years later?! What took so long to get down the aisle?!

Gotta love a forbidden romance, as I quickly found out this would be. After being forced to leave her comfortable life in London, Salt is appointed to lead her family company, something she has been running from her entire life. Family ties, and loyalties are tested, while there is a growing threat to Salt's safety.
Komante, a long-standing family friend and bodyguard to the Perry family, has been assigned to protect Salt. There is an immediate attraction between the two, however, they butt heads due to the nature of the forced relationship. Being in forced proximity they quickly realize that there is much more to their relationship than employee and employer. Komante, was intentional in how he protected and cared for Salt, and swiftly fell.
Salt enjoyed the feeling of protection and normalcy she felt when with Komante. Then the ish comes to light about her mom, and she is livid. This is where the story took an odd turn for me. It felt like the entire story changed direction in my opinion. Why the secrets? Her father stepping away from the business without explanation, and her brother acting an ass made sense now.
I thought we were going to see Salt turn into a boss bih and grow the business, with Komante by her side. But it turned into something else entirely. Which is okay I guess, just not what I was expecting.
A Love So Secure by C. Monet was a great and interesting story. C. Monet does a great job. It’s well-written and a phenomenal page. A Love So Secure reminded me of this movie called Diary of A Mad Black Woman.
Salt was living her life in London. She was forced to come home because of her dad’s legacy, but she didn’t want to be part of the family business because she had her own business and personal responsibilities in London. London is the place for her peace. Komante was hired as Salt’s security officer and driver. He was protecting her from bad vibes, and everything.
God guides them in the right direction. Komante was the right man for Salt. They were waiting patiently and found each other. My condolences to Salt and her family.
I am looking forward to reading more books by the author.

So this was definitely a cute story. Salt renevagating her new life that she was thrown into was interesting to see, Her actually being good at it and being able to lead as a woman in that lifestyle was amazing. When they finally got over the whole body guard and body being guarded situation with them and really tapped in to each other it was beautiful. The little issue with them not telling her about her mom I don't know felt a little out of place for me... I thought the story was gonna go in a different direction And I couldn't think it's a missed opportunity however it was still a cute love story very lights I'm a drama. All in all it was cute.
This was my first book by C. Monet. I love her style of writing and I will continue to read through her catalogue.
What I loved: -Unique take on forbidden romance - I love a man who don’t play about his woman - The epilogue!!! That was cute. The speeches did it for me
There were some parts that weren’t my fave. I thought I was reading a story about a woman stepping into a queen mobster roll, this book is not that, but I was pleasantly surprised by the way she became a boss in her own right. Also, Komante, Sir, could you not have waited until she was out of mourning before you asked?
Anyway, I’ll read more from the author. This was a good introduction to her work.
Wow this long awaited story gave all the vibes it was supposed to. The heartfelt dedication at the beginning was so sweet. Watching Salt and Komante's journey of love blossomed was the icing on the cake. Komante is my new book bae boyfriend! This author never disappoints. This was such a a good read.
Komante and Salt became one and didn't even know it, the chemistry was there years ago from the first kiss they just didn't realize it. Finding out about her mom nearly too her out but to come home and the forced to take over the business was not something she wanted to do, but it all worked out in the end
I can’t believe you took us on this ride. When I thought I knew was happening, you added a twist! Salt stayed in her head a lot but once she let go, she was flourished. Komante was an outstanding man & I loved his patience! I love a praying family. Murray did piss me off!
Salt and Komante love was a slow burn because they tried to fight the inevitable. They both felt the chemistry but thought it wasn’t meant to be because of family commitments. I love seeing couples realize that their happiness matters too. This love story was so cute and had great gems about love and forgiveness without spoiling the story.
Komante….a man of few words but his actions are many. The love he bestowed upon Salt was beautiful. Salt…a woman searching for love and fulfillment. Then came Komante. This book didn’t exactly go as I thought but very good! Great Job C. Monet👏🏽👏🏽
Salt and Komante were power figures alone but together, they combustible dynamite. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I cried and I laughed. I know I will be chuckling in the days ahead at some of the antics. I love how they grew and evolved, especially when Salt took responsibility for her misguided behavior.
