Of Seas and Tides #1

Trapped By Pirates

Rate this book
A smart-mouthed pirate, a people-pleasing princess, and an epic heist beneath the sea.

Yakobba Rhòdhaire is a prideful Sky Prince who always gets whatever he wants… except his father’s affection. Sick of never being good enough, he ditches being a prince to live as a pirate. When he catches wind his father wants possession of the celestial Atlanthyst Stone, Yakobba plans to steal it. Because the stone will help restore his princely honor, and he’ll do whatever it takes to please his father. Even if he has to break into the sea kingdom to do it.

Raeshelle Au’Pearl is a spineless Sea Princess groomed her entire life to die. She grudgingly awaits when she’ll be sacrificed to heal the waters of Azizi with the portion of power fused into her body from the Atlanthyst Stone. But Raeshelle isn’t ready to die. When she learns of a plot to steal the stone, she plans to sabotage it. Because the stone is her only ticket to staying alive, and she’s not losing her chance for anyone. Not even the seaweed for brains, Pirate King.

Everything is about to get messy. The princess and the pirate get entangled in a heist for the Atlanthyst Stone that will either be their redemption or their destruction. While they cross treacherous waters and face monsters lurking in the deep, as they race to possess the stone, will the ever growing romance between them be their undoing?

Of Seas and Tides is a multi-author romantic fantasy series. These novellas can be read in any order (but read mine first, haha!) and each features a villain who gets their happily ever after in a swoony, swashbuckling romance.

A love story that starts while trying to pull off a very difficult hiest, Trapped by Pirates follows two angels, one an uncrowned heir of a kingdom who is now a pirate and the other a princess who is supposed to die for her kingdom.

The world building is a little complex and it takes some time getting use to it but unfortunately since this is a novella with less than 200 pages, there isn't much time to get use to it. Since I have read a few pirate stories in the past, it was still comparatively easy for me to get a picture of the world the author has build.

I like the characters and kinda wished we had more time with them for their love story to bloom properly but knowing it's a novella, I was prepared for a love at first sight and an early confession. The second half of the book is more fast paced than the first half.

PS: I think authors should put the glossary in the beginning of the book rather than the ending. It would be more helpful for ebook readers.

The world building for Trapped by Pirates was well done. I was amazed at the depth Stephanie wrote in order to have such a believable race. The difference between the two types of Angels was amazing in the description between the Cloud Angels and the Sea Angels. I would definitely want to read more of this amazing world.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author for a fair and honest review.

I enjoyed the concept with the various angels of the sea and sky but I felt like I was missing things from the story that weren’t explained well or if there was another book or series this was a part of, so for those reasons it was hard for me to get into.

This world of angels has my heart

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish!

We’re thrown into the action on the very first page, and it doesn’t stop there either. The entire journey is littered with action sequences, which I love, especially when it has building romance.

I really enjoyed Yakobba and Raeshelle’s clashing personalities forced to work together. No spoilers here, but they’re adorable together towards the end.

I can tell so much love and time have gone into crafting this world of angels. Truly, I can’t wait to see what angel adventure is next!

A cozy little book with a swashbuckling plot! I love the unique concept of sky and water angels! I loved how the separate POVs built up their own plotlines before intersecting. Though, I wish we could have learned a little more about the FMC and MMC!!! Overall, I really enjoyed it! :)

I got too confused with what was happening especially when it came to having two different races of angels (one in air, one in water).
