Izzy Brooks has not always had the easiest life. Her dad died when she was young, and their entire family moved halfway across the country to work a ranch. Strangely, that turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to her.
When she doesn’t get into vet school, and her boyfriend’s facing charges at work, and her heart horse dies, it feels like her life’s falling apart all over again. So when she sees a horse that’s about to be put down for poor behavior, she decides to take a gamble. Maybe she can train him into something decent and earn the money she needs to help her boyfriend.
But this stallion isn’t just a mess—he acts like he’s never even been a horse before. If he wasn’t such a stunning sorrel with a perfect mane, tail, and blaze, she’d release him into the wild and walk away. But she knows what it’s like to feel like her options are limited. So when no one’s looking, she sneaks him into her trailer and runs away, determined to turn this horse’s life around and change her own fate at the same time.
What she doesn’t know is that she just stole the world’s most powerful magician, who’s only temporarily trapped in an unfamiliar horse form, and when he finally breaks free, there will be hell to pay.
My Trojan Horse Majesty was such a great read. This is book 5 of the Russian Witch's Curse series. The writing flows and the detail is impeccable. The characters learn and grow and you just feel immersed in the world.

I really loved diving back in to this series. Izzy is a strong female lead that struggles to see her worth. Izzy wants to do the right thing no matter what so when she meets Leonid and he seems to be playing from a different rule book the tension is thick even with sparks flying between them.
Leonid is so misunderstood that his actions seem pretty awful. Leo is trying to do the right thing even though it doesn't seem like it. Leo has a lot of growing to do but Izzy seems to warm up to the idea that she might be able to help him see that with her help he can be the good person he once was.
We get some more information about the curse and there are some great twists and turns. Izzy and Leo have some tough issues to work through. I won't give spoilers so you'll have to read to see what happens including if they are able to see eye to eye or if her family takes matters into their own hands and get her away from the enemy.
Villain Or Misguided Hero? 4-5* In the beginning of the book I found it difficult to have sympathy for the ‘hero’, as what I read in the earlier books about Leonid wasn’t very amicable. And as a horse he really knew how to misbehave. Until he finds himself bonded with Izzy and lets her energy influence him. Sharing her dreams with his harsh childhood, some understanding creeps in and slowly my empathy for him and what he really stands for develops. Ms Baker definitely knows how to have her characters grow and show their good and bad sides with all the conflicts and choices they (and everybody else) face. This is a somewhat darker book than the others in this series and lacks a bit of the humor that made them so lovable. Still very much worth while and deserving its place in this series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed this book and the character development. I didn’t like that there wasn’t as many horsy scenes. It mentioned skijoring and Izzy rides her horse in the beginning but after the first 1/3 of the book she doesn’t really ride anymore. In the previous books the main characters competed on their horses as the story unfolded. That being said I didn’t really enjoy Leo and Izzy and how they changed throughout the book. We also got entwined with all the previous characters from other books.
This was a really amazing book, I truly enjoyed reading it! This is the fifth installment of the Russian Witch's curse. The story unravels at a good pace with plenty of adventure and it's about Izzy Brooks who works with horses, in fact she wants to be a veterinarian. In Izzy´s life there is Dr. Timothy Heaston a vet. The story turns into a not so good situation for Izzy and Tim. When she finds a horse that may help her obtain what she needs, the events just turn around and are not at all what she had expected. This book is so entertaining and the pages didn't turn fast enough. This horse shifter book was very good. The magic it held was intriguing, you just want to know what happens next. I'm sure that anyone who loves horses, fantastic magical adventures, sharing Russian mystique will enjoy reading this book. I can truly recommend this book! I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to read this book. Charlotte N
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this release. When I received my copy, I loaded it on my kindle to read the next day but then I made the mistake of opening it to the first chapter and reading a sentence. I did not stop reading until 2am when I finished the book. This review will contain series spoilers for this horse shifter romantasy, but not spoilers for this book. I’m all for a redemption story - they are some of the best. As the last book ended, I realized that this book would have a villain redemption for Leonid, the Czar of Russia. I feel like the internal battles were reflected very well. Izzy, from the Birch Creek Ranch series, was our Sunshine heroine and I loved that. The connecting of series is always a fun time. There were new ideas and twists introduced in this read that have me sitting here and pondering. I already went back and reread a handful of chapters, TWICE! I’m eager for the next (and LAST!) book of this series to be written so I can see how it all plays out. This was a just kisses romance.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I love how this book shows that people are not usually all bad and if there is a little good, they can still change. The main male character has been seen as evil but in reality he was a misguided soul coming from a good place. The characters that seemed to be in the right, had betrayed him in the past. It shows how there are two sides to every story.
I do wish their was more conflict between Leonid and the other horse shifters at the end of the book, instead of them just listening when he told them to go back to Russia. Maybe we will see some of that struggle in the next book of the series.

I went into this book not liking Leonid one bit. I really couldn’t see any redeeming qualities based on the previous book in the series. Bridget E. Baker is smart to use both his and Izzy’s POV so you could really see and understand his motives better. Definitely enjoyed digging into Izzy, who you meet in B.E. Baker’s Birch Creek series as a child, and seeing her grow in this book alone. I love how the author spins legends and mythologies into the story to give it more credibility in a way. Very much looking forward to the next book, even though it’ll be the last because I don’t want the story to end, but I’m ready for more answers!
My Trojan Horse Magesty was great! Honestly, having read all the previous books in the series, I never thought Leonid could ever be a redeemable character. Ever. But it totally works. Well done, Bridget E. Baker, for making it believable. I found myself softening toward him right along with Izzy. I loved how he never claimed to be anyone but himself and didn't try to hide his past actions. Izzy was easy to root for, and the plot was engaging. I stayed up way too late to finish this book, but I would gladly do it again! No swear words, no sex scenes, and some seriously swoony kisses. Check, check, and check. Loved it!
I did not see that coming! I am so in love with the crossover of characters from the Birch Creek Ranch series into the Russian Witch's Curse. (You don't need to have read Birch Creek to enjoy this book, just some background and characters I was already invested in.) I really like how Bridget can take a villian and make me like them. There's always two sides to a story, and a lifetime affecting who a person is. Most of the characters from the earlier books in this series make a much smaller appearance, and we really get another perspective. I'm already counting down to the next book!
This book has everything you could want in a fantasy romance: magic, intrigue, world building, family drama, chemistry. Add in a huge amount of self-discovery and personal growth for both the FMC (female main character) and the MMC (male). I would make one recommendation to perspective readers: go read the Birch Creek Ranch series by the author (published under BE Baker). It's not 100% necessary but it will help to understand all the new characters and it definitely makes for a fun crossover. Either way, you won't regret giving this series a shot!
This series has had me captivated since book one and here we are at book five!! Izzy Brooks just wants to be a vet and works with horses and her journey is hard to start but gets better with time! Taking on a stallion that misbehaves, it’s a gamble Izzy is willing to take to try and save her future, not knowing what she is actually taking on. It’s an exciting and thrilling read, a little dark, a little intrigue, a little Russian mystique and a whole lotta magic, this author really knows how to pull you into a story and have you lose all track of time!
Listen, I *love* when an author builds a world and then we just camp out in it, throughout different series. I did not expect, however, to be visiting Birch Creek Ranch in a horse shifter book but here we are! The last book in this series introduced us to Birch Creek but rather than head back to Europe as I expected in this book, we hung out and Izzy got to be a main character! The horse shifter world has expanded and we are finally beginning to have some questions answered….but there are still things to wrap up in the next book.
Every book in this series is absorbing and stunning. The story lines are inventive and so creative. This is no exception. I look forward to each release.
As a horse lover and devoted reader the books are a perfect cross section. Throw in some Russian history that I’d normally avoid like the plague, but in this setting it makes the plot lines all the more unexpected and thrilling. I find myself enjoying the read and wondering what’s next and how does she think of these things?!
Any author that can make you think of a character as a villain only to have you completely change that thought when you read from their POV has talent. In this book, we get to see the story of Leonid, and it's hard not to love him. It was easy to get lost once again in this world as the characters tried to jump right from the pages. This story has enough similarities to the rest of the series to not stick out while being different enough to be very interesting. Well worth the read!
Needs the preceding books for full context, but a nice addition to the series. The czar meets his match and manages to get his act together for a sweet girl most would think an unlikely match. But "balance" is important in the cosmos, and with the witches being involved, guarantees hidden needs become most important. Good read in an intriguing series of myth and adventure.
I wasn't sure I would like this storyline. Turning Birch Creek into a magical fantasy romance, did not seem like a good idea for the Russian Witch's Curse books. Well...I did like it. I liked these these characters and the plot. I don't do a synopsis of any book I read, but I will tell you it was good and entertaining, and to give it a try. Especially if you like fantasy, magic and romance all rolled into one. Looking forward to reading the next installment of this series.
Can this series get any better? Well this one was really good. But the mix of all the Birch Creek family and now the Russian too? Well what else can go wrong? Next book will let us know.
Woahhhhh the ending was a plot twist! It had a similar plot at the beginning that all the other books did, but wow- the author really got me towards the end! I can't wait for the next book to be released!
All the other books make you hate this guy, so it's interesting to get his pov . The book is a delight, of a certain kind. light, entertaining, irreverent.
Balance must be restored before Baba Yaga's counterpoint wakes. Izzy helps Leo temper his violent tendencies. Everyone is redeemable if they want to change.
