Damien Thorn is 32 and tries to gain political power. Can some monks who found the seven holy daggers of Megiddo finish what Damien's father and uncle failed to do? What about the birth of the Nazarene and the disciples of the watch? Intriguing further adventures of one of the eeriest characters ever in horror fiction. There are many references to volume 1 and 2 in case you haven't read or watched Omen. This time the story is set in Britain, primarily in London. It was a very uncanny and compelling read but I missed some of the highlights of the first two books. Ideal horror book for this time of the season with its apocalyptic atmosphere. I definitely will read the next two parts of the series. Recommended!

Huge fan of the films, and the soundtrack (Who can make a scarier song than the "Ave Satani"?). The 3rd Omen is not as fun as the first or second, yet still incorporates themes from the original. Killer dogs, the devious devout, the oppulance of politics and white people, the apocalypse slowly seeping in...

3.7 - This is the novelization of the movie of the same name starring Sam Neill as Damien. I really enjoyed picturing Sam Neill in my head, I love that man. However, where I enjoyed the first two novelizations more than I did the film, I actually preferred the film version to the novelization of this one. I think it's because the descriptions of some of the events that happened played out better on screen than on the page, such as the squirrel. Still very enjoyable nonetheless but I'm going to stick to the film!

Meh... Not much to review on this book really. The end of the omen Dynasty, has arrived for me. I found this boring to be honest and the plot just drove out for purposes unknown. The ending was rather good. But not one of the book's from the trilogy, I will remember.

I am an avid reader of novelization books. Sadly, there seem to be less of these type of books these days. I found this book at a garage sale and picked it up.

As far novelizations go, it was good. I am not familiar with Gordon McGil but he has a flair for writing horror and is quite descriptive. I realize he was workign from the movie script and notes but he improved it a bit. The plot is about the now-mature and ruthless billionaire, Damien Thorn making his move to stop the birth of Christ (an untruth) but this is fiction. I guess this ruined this book for me because I am a bible student. McGil tried vlaiantly to make this dreck readable but in the end it was only fair.

Definitely not as good as the first two. It all seemed so rushed, especially towards the end which is something I remember not liking about the third film either.

I'm going to go off on a bit of a tangent here, but I should tell you I've bought all 5 Omen books (yes, there are 5, so it's obvious this is not the final conflict and I'm pretty sure the next two books will jump more sharks than those appearing in the Sharknado franchise), used of course, and book number three had a bookmark from 1986 in it with a cat in a santa hat on the front and on the back "To Debbie, from Mother". Debbie, wherever you are, I hope you're well. Thank you for the bookmark.

My lord it has been forever and a day since I watched the movies. I remember reading book 1 eons ago. Can barely remember that. But I couldn't resist diving into this when my friend gave this to me.

The world is plagued from drought, famine, and floods. All because of Damien Thorn and his followers. Damien is the son of Satan and is ready to destroy the world and the promised Messiah. Who can stop this terror? Who would believe this good looking man full of charm and a zest for life is truly evil?

Oooo Damien you evil bastard. People are so blinded by his good looks and charms. He is quickly making his way up in power and plans to run the US in a few years, but first, he has to take care of that Messiah. So little hope.

I barely remember the movie but this did remind me of a lot of things. And from I remember it does pretty okay following the movie. I did like how there were a few photos there from the movie. Makes me want to backtrack and read/watch the others.

That girl was an idiot. Wanted to smack her.

I don't think the priest did enough. Could've saved more lives, but no. *grumbles*

This wasn't scary, but more so creepy. Damien is a creepy guy, but I was intrigued by him as a character. He is for sure evil and knows it. I found his interactions interesting especially when that lady was tossing herself at him. He was all "I can't love...and even if I could I won't." hahaha. He was humorous in some points.

I think my only issue was the slow narrative. Omg. Let's move it along now. It took 50 or so pages for things to get good. And it's a short book for goodness sakes.

Overall, if you like the films I would suggest reading this. I am curious about the first 2 books and how closely they follow the movie. I also want to rewatch them. Maybe for Halloween ;) I'll give this 4 stars. Slow narrative, but still a good read.

He aquí El Conflicto Final.

Good fun, and a decent movie tie-in. If you liked the film, you will like this. Only a couple minor additions to the film. For example, the alcove the two priests got grated into was actually a well, and they dropped down to the bottom, smashed apart, and died. You get a bit more about the Nazarene birth, and one important tidbit: Damien could not have killed the Nazarene if he tried, considering who the Nazarene's parents were. I don't remember that being in the film. By the way, reading the scene with fox hunting brings up my own personal gripe: do the English still do that stupid excuse for a sport? Calling it sport is a joke. A bunch of dummies on horses and a full pack of dogs chasing one poor fox? Where's the sport in that? Well, they did give us rugby, at least, which is a lot more fun that American football.

My least favourite of the Omen series. I know after the first book that the rest are based on screenplays but I found compared to the second book that this one you really could tell it was dramatised and based on a movie. The storyline itself seemed a bit far fetched and too “Hollywood” compared to the first two instalments in the series. But the ending was interesting and I do want to find out what happens next, with how this ended and knowing there’s two more books left it just has me curious for more

The seven daggers that can kill the son of satan are dug up and given to a priest who gives one each to monks to kill Damien. Damien now 32 is one of the richest people in the world and currently running the Thorn empire with his sights set on the US presidency. A man driven to satanic nightmares will spray his brain against the wall with a horrific splat. Dozens and dozens of baby boys will be killed. The epitome of evil needs to be eradicated with the dagger. The final conflict will battle for survival.

Movie tie-in novelizations seem to be going the way of the dodo bird what with the advent of home media and streaming. Why read a book when you can just watch the movie again? More nostalgia driven than anything these books are a throwback to when everything wasn’t always at your fingertips. They aren’t meant to be Pulitzer Prize winning, they are meant to entertain and the 3rd novelization of the Omen films falls into that category. Creepy and fun entertainment to pass away a couple hours on a rainy weekend.

Aside from a huge whiff of a climax (like the movie it's based on), this book is compulsively readable from start to finish. It's just as tacky as the film, especially with its middle stretch of child violence, but if that's what you're in the mood for, the book delivers in campy tension and wild death scenes. Not great literature, but it delivers what it sets out to deliver.

That ending, though...

Does Damien dangerously take over the world? Does the Nazarene over power him? Who finally wins? Good book and read, however it does finish with a bit of a cliché and I didn’t particularly think there were any major moments or a pinnacle in the book. Compared to the first it does go slightly downhill. However, I love the series as a whole.

A story with no clear protagonist, a holy order of priests who die in cartoonish ways trying to kill the antichrist, and cultists enacting harebrained schemes to murder babies. I will at least say for how stupid the story is, it is funny.
The holy order trying to kill Damien reminds me of this scene from The Pink Panther Strikes Again:

Some good bits at the end, but didn't find much in this that held my attention. The previous one in the series (different author) was gripping. This was just ok. Felt like it just ended very suddenly, like someone had to wrap it up quickly.

edit: I've already bought 4 and 5 in the series and will be reading them. wish me luck

In the third book of the series, Damien is a grown man and looking to maybe be the President. It seems to me each book has been written by a different author. I did like the first book the most but all are intriguing horror.

The story seems a lot faster to me than the other two books of the same series, may be it is because I read the translation of this book. The story is overall good except I think it the writer could go into little more details which could make the same story a whole lot better.
