This book recaptures all the adventures and experiences of a twenty year old Air Force C-130 Loadmaster as he deals with his first taste of combat and the complications of love in a time of war. This true story begins in February 1967 and continues thry August 1969. The C-130 remains as an air force workhorse for close combat support and the duties performed by today's loadmasters remain the same as those described in this story. The difference is the location now is in Iraq and Afghanistan whereas this story is set in the jungles of Vietnam. If you ever wanted to get a taste of the '60,s or of the flyboy lifestyle this book will take you there. World travel, combat, Special Ops missions and living in a climate of war. This is not truly a love story but included is the account of the interaction between a young airman and his childhood sweetheart. All her letters are included providing the chance to see the overwhelming contrast of their realities. The letters and the commentary provided are there to provide the varied perspectives of the times for the reader to consider.
