I liked the concept here and it was layered with a lot of trauma-based emotional depth. However, there was just a lot of typical body horror that kept getting in the way of the good ideas here. Ivy’s chapters were the highlight, whereas Molly’s torture scenes were the weakest part of the story. It felt like two different stories mixed together, without enough connections to make it all flow properly. There was a twist, that was fairly obvious, towards the end, but everything sort of fell flat and came across very rushed into the finale. A slower pace, less of the unnecessary torture, and a more coherent flow to everything, with a less complicated conclusion would have all been welcome additions to this experience.

Molly went missing after her way home. What happened to her? Can Ivy her best friend find it out? Typical Sam West extreme horror with many disgusting sex scenes and yucky stuff. The plot and the characters somehow didn't fully convince me here (no spoilers). This was a bit too deranged for my taste. Recommended for true Sam West fans only.

Be careful who you trust.

Shocking in the best of ways. Sam West awed me with this book. Completely unexpected and gripping throughout. For sure going on my favorites list.

Good story, I thought I had it figured out from the start, but I was so wrong! There are layers and layers of madness to wade through before you find out WHY Molly is missing. 🫀🫀🫀

Okay…so I flip-flopped between 3.5 and 4 🌟 but in the end, I’m giving 4 🌟
I did have to keep myself reading for the first half of the book (that’s why I was tempted to give 3.5) but the second half brought it back for me.

Another book to make me cross my legs and wince! I’m going to be in a permanent Ardha Matsyendrasana pose if I carry on like this…my poor legs 😂

Best friends

This is about two women whom both have found each other's friendships and became close. One has a boyfriend and is insecure the other is insecure but has no boyfriend, but does have other friends. After a few drinks at one of their houses the other goes home alone but refuses a lift and refuses a taxi cab. But as you can guess the women in question Molly doesn't reach home. And things take a tortuous turn. The characters are great and you can get to know the them quite quickly. There are some great twists also, so you never get bored. Great all round read I'd recommend.

So I felt gaslit and betrayed by the author, I thought I knew what was happening but also felt ridiculous to think that was happening, also felt so sorry for a character because I felt I understood why they were they way they were only to find out my previous ridiculous assumption was correct and I want to take my feelings back for the character 🤦🏽‍♀️ it was a whirlwind but I enjoyed it I do feel the ending was a little rushed or maybe I just liked how it unfolded and wanted a bit more expansion.

RICHARD LAYMON LOOKS TAME COMPARED TO THIS

Well, as I said above, Sam West’s stories remind me of more severe LAYMON stories, without all the Rump mentions.
How does someone say they like this story, it’s ghastly.
It is what it is , and readers are warned beforehand.
There is nothing likeable about the main protagonists, or the story itself. It is horrific and shocking.
If you don’t have a strong stomach. Avoid it.

I liked the concept and the overall storyline.

However, the sheer amount of grammatical errors was distracting at times. And the ending deserved more than what was given. Even an extra 4-5 pages of additional character pov’s would have fleshed out the ending and made it more enjoyable. I was left feeling like I was missing some context.

confused

Not sure what to say. I was really enjoying the story line and then bam it turned into something I wasn’t expecting and it was over and I’m still not really sure what happened. It was ok prob wouldn’t read it again.

not for me

The book feels rushed and the plot under developed. Characterisation is shattered by the end. Not worth the read in my opinion

Even though this was a short story there was no way I could stand to read it at one sitting. It was full of horrible explicit torture. Sooo disgusting. I was totally surprised by who and the why.

So, what could have been amazing, fell short for me. The build up was great, had me hooked in, had my suspicions and was left satisfied when my thoughts were validated, however…..it didn’t make sense.

I know we shouldn’t overthink these books and I was glad that there was plot and gore (although it was on the tame side in comparison to others), but the motive and finish left me really disappointed. It just felt poorly though through and was done for shock value rather than adding something to the story.
