This was so slow… it just dragged and around 40 percent I started skipping and skimming. It’s another one of those repetitive redundant books. I think the pit should have been an mc. I think it was mentioned a zillion times times. I didn’t care about the pit tbh. It was meant to be intriguing and mysterious but it just felt boring and disjointed. I’m not one to complain about editing errors but there were so many it was distracting. The romance got sidetracked and side lined. Not my cup of tea…

Cain Crawford is a character that I had my fingers and toes crossed hoping we would get his story and this story did not disappoint. Ruby Wolff first introduced him to us in her book Goal Boy and had a huge role in Puck Boy. (If you have read those books I highly recommend you start with Rich Boy). Cain was the one character I needed to get more.
Cain Crawford is a mystery. He’s the darkness. He’s a boss with an awful past. He has scars that no one would wish on their worst enemy. He’s been through it.
Autumn-Rose is the perfect light to his darkness. She’s calm to his storm but runny from her past. Together these two don’t make sense. But there are explosive!!!! No better match for these two.
The Pit is something we have heard about. But never got to figure out exactly what it is. You’re not ready for that answer. It’s so much more than expected.
This is a highly recommended read!!!! Cain Crawford is everything and more!!!!!!

Poor editing ruined the story ☹️
When I first started this book, the story pulled me in. Then I noticed all the editing errors - incorrect punctuation and missing words being the most frequent. I thought to myself, “Maybe this is a new author,” but I looked and the author has written many books. So, for me, there is no excuse.
This book is also probably about 100 pages too long. There is a lot of repetitive inner dialogue that could be trimmed without losing any of the story. But here’s the thing: I was invested in Cain and Autumn-Rose’s story. I wanted to see how everything worked out for them. But about 100 pages from the finish line I couldn’t take the poor writing and editing. I skipped to the end, and unfortunately it was rather unsatisfying. I’ll admit, maybe it’s because I skipped a little bit, but I think it was more to do with the resolution.
I say skip this one. There are better books out there.

Cain Crawford is a mystery and I need to know more. Autumn-Rose is from across the pond and is now in America hiding from her past. When these two collide they both feel something they can’t seem to shake or explain. Cain keeps everyone at a distance for their safety, but he is drawn to Autumn. Throughout the story Cain keeps talking about The Pit and the room. I’m keeping wondering what happens in The Pit, I know it’s not a good place but I still want to know. Also what is happening in this room, take me there. Cain is struggling with keeping his family at a distance to keep them safe. And his family is trying hard to be there for him. Now Cain ghosted our girl and she had to show up
at his job to look for him. Mind you he left her at his family dinner. His good friend Lincoln had to gather him together and tell him he needed to shape up. Autumn had already opened up to Cain about her past and now it was his turn. He told her she would protect her and she told him she would be by his side. These two are now going together real bad. I went to The Pit and that room with the rest of the family and I didn’t like. When Logan and Cain had their heart to heart, tears! Y’all Autumn and Cain were living their best lives and then boom, mess hits the fan. A family is coming after Cain, Autumn’s stalker finds her, Cain is shot. So many things and then Cain has to go to The Pit and fight. I’m on edge. I had to make me a snack plate for the last 5% of the book. The fight scene was insane. Cain won, was hurt and had to recover. Cain and Autumn got their HEA. It was beautiful. I’m so happy Cain was able to let his family in and Autumn got her Prince Charming! Also we now know what happens on the sixth floor of Cain’s club. 🤭

Cain Crawford is here everyone. I’ve been hoping our man Cain here would get his story. It’s everything I hoped it could be. Autumn Rose is a great character that I enjoyed. This story is amazing and I’m so glad I got to read it.

another fantastic book
This book had me gripped right from the beginning, I actually read Declan’s book before this one, and loved it. Cain is featured peripherally in Declan’s book as this dark mysterious family member so as soon as I saw he had his own book I knew I had to read it too and boy am I glad I did.
Ok so Cain has this cloud of darkness hanging over him and after surviving years in “The Pit” including as a child it really isn’t surprising. Autumn however despite being forced to be away from her family and the only life she knew is a sweet, happy ray of sunshine. Their personalities couldn’t be more different but they complete each other in a way that only they can, for Autumn Cain provides a feeling of safety and love and after spending years constantly looking over her shoulder it’s exactly what she needs. For Cain Autumn shines a light through the darkness, completing him and preventing him from being swallowed whole by his demons. They are, simply put, perfect for each other.
While their connection and feelings for each other grow they are faced with dangerous enemies determined to keep them apart and end not only their relationship but also, potentially their lives. Can they overcome the obstacles that they’re facing? Can Caine let not only Autumn but also his family into his life and heart fully? Can Autumn “have faith” in Caine and trust him no matter what to keep her safe? You’ll have to read it to find the answers to those questions and more. It’s a story filled with angst and love but it’s truly worth the read.
The only reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 is that there were a couple of points in the story when it seemed as though Caine’s love for Tessa was greater than his love for Autumn despite the fact that it was clear that Autumn loved him more (in my opinion)

Now you can read this as a standalone but there are several characters that are referenced throughout which you can read their stories to get the full impact of what/who they are to Cain. With that being said get ready for one wild ride and finally get to know the man who has been referred to as the ghost and his English rose. Read responsibly and check TW beforehand if needed.
You can expect extremely tortured souls to find an unlikely connection that will be tested at every turn. Cain and Autumn Rose are a perfect match and the author paints a vivid world where these two have demons to overcome and finally find love and family that they both need. It's dark, suspenseful, gritty, raw, heartbreaking, and even gut-wrenching at times but there are some spicy moments woven into the mix that will keep you glued for every intense twist and turn till the crazy ending that will leave you wanting to know more.

Cain Crawford has easily become my favorite MMC that Ruby has written. He's a tortured man breaks down your walls and rebuilds you into the person you were always meant to be.
We met Cain the Ruby's The Boys hockey series. He was this mystery man that became a ally, then we found out who he really was. His past is heartbreaking and I am so happy he was able to find love with Autumn-Rose. If any man deserves a second chance at life, it's him.
Autumn-Rose has a beautiful name and personality, but has darkness in her past also. Cain brings her protection, love, and comfort in a way she has never experienced. She is the light to Cain's dark and they fit each other so well.
I loved everything about this book. The storyline doesn't leave you bored and spice leaves you toasty. I have a feeling who the next book is about, but I'm not going to ruin it for you!
Darkness is available on Amazon and KU! You don't have to, but I do recommend reading The Boys first to get your proper introduction to Cain!

OMG !!! Where do I even find the right words to express how truly phenomenal this book was and is ? Truth be told I seriously do not think there are any !!! And I do mean that in all the best ways . All I can really say is that Ruby knocked it out of the ballpark with Cain and Autumn’s story !!! Because I’m honestly still reeling from the crazy ride I was just taken on and all the emotions this book stirred in me . If you love a morally gray hero that’s beautifully flawed and broken , that equal losers protective and possessive then watch out because you’re going to fall hard for Cain !!! And our heroine Autumn she’s literally the light to his dark , the one person that can provide the peace he needs in his life . These two first come across as being so different but really they are like two pieces of a puzzle that are meant to fit together. Phew together they really are a force to be recked with . Prepare yourself for the unexpected and prepare yourself to be wowed . And definitely make sure you put plenty of time aside because one you start there is no way you will want to stop

He is dark and things from his past haunt him. He has horrible headaches and has a very strong pull towards Autumn.
Cain lost the love of his life and it messes with him every day. Things were out of his control and he wasn’t there to save her.
Cain can’t fight the pull for her anymore but he is scared of the darkness that follows him will hurt her…
Things become hectic..
Autumns past shows up and everything gets chaotic…
Cain will do everything to protect her…
I love all of the Crawford boys but Cain and Lincoln are at the top for me currently..
I love how close Autumn and Lincoln become and how he protects her when Cain isn’t around.
I love how she calls Lincoln Mr. Upgrade😝

My Thoughts: I have been excited about Cain's story since reading The Hockey Boys. Businessman, Cain Crawford has closed himself off to the world. At a young age, his life was ripped apart and he had to literally fight for his life. He lives through his demons and darkness every day until a meeting with the sweet Autumn-Rose. Her lightness sheds away some of his darkness. Autumn-Rose once the greatest up and coming FIgure Skater leaves everything she's known in England and comes to America. Wherever she goes, he always seems to find her. She's a florist who still hopes to find her true love. Cain's reclusiveness draws her in and she quickly becomes enthralled with him. I loved the buildup and protectiveness of Cain and Autumn's relationship. Cain This book did not disappoint, it was everything that I was looking for. It has spice, drama, and suspense. I highly recommend this book.

We're learning all about Cain in this one. His life is one we wish he didn't have to go through. This has a lot of facing the past, some closure, turning to the future & helping his family. He's so dark & mysterious & catches the eye of Autumn Rose. As soon as they meet, Cain is done for. He didn't think he could ever love again. Autumn is so clumsy cute, so accident prone & I love her & Katy's friendship it's so easy. Then we have Mr. Upgrade, Lincoln, Cain's BFF, right hand man & all-around good guy who's been through his own "stuff". I suppose that is questionable to say that on all levels for Cain & Lincoln.
A lot of heavy stuff goes on, there's a stalker, a lot of torture but a love story, nonetheless.
In the end, there is an HEA which I'm thankful for because if anyone needed it, it's Cain & Autumn.

Good Dark Read
What did I miss? This book said it was a stand alone, but obviously I missed a previous book. It was hard to keep track of who was who. We're the guys brothers, or cousins? Maybe a family tree in the start of the books would help.
I enjoyed the romance between Cain and Autumn-Rose. It was both sweet and mysterious, and sexy and scary.
The Pit was confusing. There were so many nuances to that part of the story, it was hard to keep things straight. Cain and his relationship with his mother and brother was also difficult to figure out, and why did he call the other guys brothers also? So confusing.
This author is a skilled writer and I hope if I sample her writing again it will be a clearer read.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
I wanted Cain Crawford’s story for a long time, and my wish came true! Cain Crawford is a mystery man shrouded in darkness and secrets.
He has an awful past that he will never forget.
Autumn-Rose is perfect for him. She’s the light to his darkness, and she seems to be the only person who can calm him down. Cain wants to stay away from her but can’t. They have this pull towards each other. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.

Get ready ladies, because Cain Crawford is in the house!!!!
We were first introduced to Cain in Puck Boy (?) and I was immediately intrigued by him and the darkness that surrounded him. This title couldn't be more perfect.
This story was everything I wanted. A little suspense, a little darkness, amazing characters, and a whole lotta steam.
Autumn and Cain are complete opposites, but they work so well together. She is the light in his dark world and he gets to dirty her up a bit.
I really enjoyed this one. If you're a fan of alpha heroes with a touch of darkness, jump into this today.

se I found it a bit boring and wasn’t a fan of the romance. The connection between Autumn and Kane felt rushed. They meet at an ice skating rink, there’s an instant attraction, …and then it quickly escalates to love without much build-up, especially considering Kane’s past connection to another character. Overall, I didn’t feel a strong bond between them, just some physical attraction. Also, the plot felt a bit implausible at times, with Kane getting poisoned multiple times and still coming out on top. I had higher hopes since I enjoyed Declan’s story much more. That said, if you like it, that’s totally fine; it just wasn’t for me.

By far my favorite Ruby book I’ve read so far! I loved getting this inside look at the mysterious Cain that we’ve heard about. His past is so tragic. No wonder he doesn’t want to let anyone, especially his Mom, in. Autumn-Rose also hasn’t had it easy. She had to leave the one thing she loved, all become of an aggressive stocker. She left her family, and sport to move to the US to get away from him. She is the light to his darkness and both of their broken pieces fit perfectly together. I can’t wait for the next Crawford Brother!

Loved loved loved Darkness , Cain Crawford was everything I thought he would be and more, this book was so so good, the chemistry between Cain and Autumn-Rose was off the charts hot and I love how she saw beneath his mask and rough exterior to see the man underneath , I also loved how protective Cain was with Autumn-Rose , he is such a sweetheart the quiet !!
Ruby's books get better and better with each one and each book becomes my new favourite and Darkness is now mine , a well deserved 5 stars !!

More like rage quit really late in the book but most romance readers don't want to read about both MMC & the FMC having a mini threesome/foursome with 2 strippers. There was no prior warm up other than the mmc wanted the fmc to get the full 6th floor experience, which apparently means suddenly letting strangers female strippers mess around with you while your boyfriend watches.
Ruined the entire book and couple for me

I knew from the other books that Cain was going to be so amazing with his secrets and darkness in him that the Pit caused. That poor man went through so much his whole life and it made me so sad for him to feel unloved by certain people in his life. His sweet English rose is so perfect for him. The way she loved and accepted him for all his darkness was so sweet. I can’t wait to see who’s next!!

It's steamy and intense, it'll definitely have you on then edge of your seat.

I have been waiting for this ever since he was introduced in Goal Boy and seen again in Puck Boy where he was so intense and mysterious. Well now we found out why! Mr. Crawford didn't have a happy/normal upbringing. Him meeting the FMC was everything he needed and let me tell you their relationship is everything!!! 🫠🥵

Cain freaking Crawford.. that is all. He is everything. I've loved him since the beginning. I'm so glad he got his own book! I fell in love with him in Goal Boy. ..ps go read rich boy! I am so jealous of Autum Rose ... but this is a 5 stars because that's all i can give . But really, it's a top read for me.

Cain Crawford is everything. He is beautifully broken and determined and powerful. If you loved him in the hockey boys series you will absolutely lovevtgis book. It is emotional and intense and enthralling and if course there is spice. He will do everything he can to protect what's his and Autum is his. It's absolutely amazing.
