Zero is a tracker for the Elite Guard, the supernatural police that hunts down rogues. Zero's number one goal was to work for the Elite and seek revenge on the vampires who killed his childhood friend.
But after so many years of moving from place to place, he wants to settle down. Zero volunteers to help guard one of the magical small towns where paranormals and humans live together openly.
He's settled in this new town, has a life, friends, and hopefully, soon he'll meet his mate. But what he doesn't expect to find is his childhood friend alive and well. Except his friend isn't alive. He's undead, just like all the creatures he's hunted down.
Zero Judgment is a standalone MM romance novel as part of the multi-author collaboration Tales from the Tarot. This book is based on the major arcana card Judgment.
nice story but needed more world explanation and characters development
Rating: 3.5🌈
Major arcana card : Judgement
Zero Judgement is short paranormal romance in the Tales from the Tarot series. It’s a sequel or side story to Quinn’s novel, Love Potions and Moonlight. That story, which I haven’t read, is from another multi-author series and shared universe, Cauldrons and Kisses.
Zero Judgment highlights how a story is often hurt by a author’s decision to make a new book’s storyline a crossover from another universe, complete with those characters and world building, without fully laying down all the knowledge and details needed for new readers to understand and appreciate the characters, relationships in this world and local setting.
I enjoyed the story and characters and was able to see the connections that carried over from the first book but I also missed the details and depth this might have had if it would be a world unto itself.
Example of this is the character of Calix, the childhood friend who’s had a tragic history that led to him being kidnapped, becoming a prisoner and being turned into a vampire. There’s enormous amounts of information and trauma associated with Calix and his background, most of which is “off page” information. His story and character is connected to another person’s story, Nico, who turns out to be a witch. How they came to be together, there’s a significant connection between them (friendship, not romance) but hugely important to the story, but then Nicole basically disappears except for one more reoccurring scene. But there’s enough missing narrative here for a book or two, the least of which is that Calix was a witch himself.
But the trauma, and most of the realistically induced emotional distress is done away with when the other main character makes his entrance . At The Magic Shop.
The Owner, The Magic Shop and pertinent tarot card are included in the story and get their important part to play. Quinn does a good job of incorporating the series elements into the book.
The fated mates aspect happens immediately which serves to speed up the relationship and romance between the characters of Calix and Zero, the dragon shifter/former vampire hunter.
I think, for me, the reunion part of this was my favorite and could have used further exploration and time spent on their renewed connection.
There’s a dramatic element that brings the main theme back into play but the villain and his story wasn’t really that well explored.
Overall, a nice story with potential but with an attached book that I probably should have read beforehand to get all the characters and universe firmly connected.

Ok, first off for those who stopped at chapter 7 or 8, that's not the complete book. I couldn't get to this story until today, and it's all up on amazon now.
Calix was taken by vampires at a young age but always dreamed of amethyst dragon wings, giving him hope for something else. With the help of his witch friend Nico, they escape and end up in the sanctuary town of Hearts Hollow to start fresh. Zero has retired from vampire slaying for a life of peace in this sanctuary town. With the encouragement of the Magic Shop and it's Owner our two men meet and are given their chance. These two pull the Judgment card where they need to learn to not judge for one's past but their future. In Zeros's case, it's also to learn to judge his true self. Yes, this is instalust yet at the same time not. They build on their bond before becoming intimate, which is something these two so desperately needed. A fitting ending to an overall entertaining universe.
*Updated review* Kindle file was fixed quickly, so thanks to the author and Amazon! This author has a knack for blending darker plot elements into otherwise sweet/instalove stories without it seeming jarring or too forced. I enjoyed how this book is set in the same cozy small town as Love Potions & Moonlight and getting a glimpse of familiar characters.
*previous review* The book is great so far but wanted to notify the author that the file stops on page 52 at the beginning of chapter 7. Can’t wait to finish and learn more about the amethyst dragon!
So I spent most of this book confused, because the author strongly implies I should already know all the characters and the world. Therefore very little was actually explained and I didn’t really get to know any of the characters. The romance part was pretty much intsa-love, which is somewhat expected for such a short story. Dialogue was a bit stilted.
I imagine if you have read this author’s other books you’d enjoy this short story expanding their world a bit more. Just didn’t do much for me.
The last book I'm reading in the Tales from the Tarot series. The Judgment card. The book itself literally lays it all out at some point by way of the Owner just literally talking about. Probably my least favorite way of learning themes in books but it can be kind of excused for the sole fact it's tarot.
This is gonna be quick because this book is quick. It's the shortest book out of the entire series. I'll go over my ratings overall though for the Tales from the Tarot series as a whole too though!
Everything is lightning speed in this book. Whenever I see novellas, I feel like the issue is always they try to do too much with too little time. This novella especially falls into that pit trap because there are love proclamations by the end. There are too many characters that are just introduced and then pushed aside.
The beginning is probably the best with how Calix's story. The premise was really interesting.
I don't think this book necessarily bad or good but just...incomplete.
Finally, just quickly gonna go over my favorites from this entire series, from best to least favorite in retrospect. Regardless though, I thought this was a fun project that brought together many different authors. I'm excited to see their future works!
I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Zero Judgement by Kota Quinn was a cute and fast read. I enjoyed the continuation of Rook and Autumn’s story where you meet Zero. Zero is an Elite Guard that hunts vampires since they took his best friend 15 years before. He assumes his best friend Calix has been killed and he does what he can to avenge his death. Calix was taken by vampire 15 years before and was turned into a vampire 10 years ago. He does what he can to survive. He is now back in Hearts Hollow looking for protection and safety because he wants to just live his life. He has saved money since he is a romance writer. Autumn asks Zero to help a friend. When Zero finds out it’s a vampire he is hesitant. When he learns its Calix he will do nothing to continue to protect the man he has tried to avenge and save. Calix becomes Zero’s world and Zero wants to hoard him like any good dragon does. This is a cute fun story about friends finding each other again and realizing they are fate. Would recommend for a quick fun read.
Zero! Ahhhh. This book was so freaking good. The characters were really fun in this one. Zero is a dragon and vampire hunter who has been hunting rogues since his bestfriend was taken. Fast forward 15 yrs when Zero thinks his best friend is dead, only to find out he is a vampire now.
The chemistry between these two is hot hot hot!!! I plan on buying this one on paperback so I can reread any time.
Characters: 5 stars Side characters: 5 Stars World building: 5 stars Steam: Slow burn but hot when it happens! 4.8 stars Plot: 5+++ Stars. (LOVE the captive gets free trope) Angst: Low Length of strory: Novella. Loved every word. Pls pls pls write more in this world with the other side characters. thx
When Rune and Calix were kids they were friends. Calix a witch and Rune a human. When they were 17 and 15 tragedy struck. Now 15 years later Calix is still missing, Rune is now Zero and no longer only human. He now shares himself with a beautiful dragon.
Calix has survived by his wits and strength, with the help of Nico. When Nico hands Calix the thing he needs to escape his prison, he doesn't waste time. They escape and go to Heart's Hollow, sanctuary town. There they'll be safe if any vampires come after them.
Zero has been a rogue vampire hunter these 15 years. He's getting revenge while looking for Calix. Now he's decided to retire in Heart's Hollow and settle down. It's time to think about a mate.
Zero and Calix meet up in Heart's Hollow but don't recognize each other at first. After a little help from The Owner and his tarot cards, their eyes are open to the truth. Now will they allow themselves a second chance.
This is a short, sweet, fast paced romance with fantasy/paranormal/mystery aspects. Zero and Calix are cute together and I genuinely felt like the relationship was authentic. Their chemistry is low heat and sweet vs flash in the pan hot. They have a good friend/family support system. There is a small amount of drama towards the end that smooths out nicely. I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.
5 STARS. I NEEDED THIS STORY AFTER THIS WEEK. I love that this story took all aspects of the Judgment Card and sprinkled it throughout the whole story. (Seriously read up on the card its so cool.) But don't worry, you don't have to know any tarot to read this.
The romance was OMFG SWOON.
I loved Tales of the Tarot.
My favorites: (5 Stars)Zero Judgment by Kota Quinn (5 Stars)Cleric of Desire by Amanda Meuwissen (5 Stars) Death Song by B. This book is another good addition to The Tales from the Tarot series. Both MCs do visit The Magic Shop and meet The Owner early on in the story; in fact, they are magically drawn to the place mainly to meet each other, as they are fated mates. I think that it's because of their fated mates status that this is one of the books in the series where the Tarot card, the Judgememt card, magically appears to the MCs rather than having the card officially dealt to them. Anyhow, the story is entertaining, and I liked how it was connected to other books that the author has written.
Omg why is this so good?! I loved every word and swooned so hard at the end. Followed this story easily, eagerly flipping pages. This story might have been short, but it sure is mighty.
Easily one of my favorites of the Tarot stories.
The characters were well fleshed out and developed. Had great chemistry. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WRITE A STORY 4 NICO!!!!!!
A dragon who search for his friend for the last 15 years with a high reputation for k!lling bad vampire. A kidn@pped human turned vampire, still kidn@pped, escape and find a small thrusty town.
Fated mates is working hard, but m*nsters are always lurking....
Love the book. Original, captivating, well written.
I was waiting for this book to come out after reading about Rook and Autumn. Then I lost track of the release date. Today I sat down to read it and couldn’t stop. I was so happy that Calix and Zero found each other again! So happy that after a minute, they recognized each other as mates and then boyhood friends. This is such a romantic fated mates story. I love Hearts Hollow. I wonder (hope) if we’ll see more stories from here?

I love the town of Heart’s Hollow and was excited to see Autumn and Rook again. This one is all about Zero and Calix, though! Childhood friends to enemy species to lovers! I also after reading this am thinking gosh, wouldn’t it be nice to retire at 30?! I’m hoping we might eventually get a book for Nico! Plus I really wanted to know more about The Owner, too.
Calix was taken when he was young by vampires and later turned into one. Zero is a dragon who is a retired vampire hunter. These two meet at The Magic Shop and meet The Owner. I really liked Calix and Zero's story. These two are great. Another excellent addition to the Multi-author Tales From the Tarot series.
Zero Judgment by Kota Quinn is part of the multi-author series Tales of the Tarot. This is the story of Calix and Zero (if you've read Love Potions and Moonlight you already met Zero). I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.
Zero and Calix's story was such a sweet read. Loved the small town romance setting. Can't wait to dive into the other books to read about the characters in the book. Zero Judgment was an addition and great story to end the series. Now I need all of these in paperback! ♥️♥️

Dragons and Vampires yes please and thank you. I love me a good PNR. Even with this being a slow burn I enjoyed it from the moment I opened the book to the moment I finished it.
Zero and Calix are total opposite but a perfect match for each other. Growing up together and then being separated because of some awful people just breaks your heart a 🤏🏼.
Calix was a survivor and Zero was determined to either find his friend or serve justice on behalf of Calix.
Perfect short PNR with a HEA to read in one sitting.
Please ✔️ TRIGGER WARNINGS before jumping in. If you have none then just jump in 😉.

Mostly hurt/comfort. Pretty much all said and done after the initial chapter. The rest is a reunion and fated mates, until third act kidnapping. Been a while since I read one from this series so the owner was a surprise. I can't remember the potion one. It was alright.

I found the story interesting. I definitely wanted to know more about Nico. I also wanted to know more about Dante's plan and unhinged goals. Overall, it was a sweet story that kept my attention. I hope the author continues to expand this world.
