Love in Montana #9

Devoted Enough

Rate this book
Nathan Shaw has been keeping a secret since high school. It was so tightly intertwined with someone else’s that exposing the darkest facts meant he couldn’t keep the other to himself.

He’s had years of holding onto those truths. This also means he's had to push away the one person who means more to him than anything—and in the process, all it does is make her think that he despises her like all of the other people in her life.

But that's so far from the truth about his feelings that he holds so close to his heart.
Haven Larson has had an awful childhood growing up with an abusive father and a mother who tries her best, but sometimes the best can't protect you from the monsters that hide in darkness.

One night, protecting her from those monsters, fell on the one boy she had loved for as long as she could remember. And now she knows that he can't stand to be around her after discovering her secrets—or can he, because every time they are together, the sparks ignite and threaten to combust.

But it will take their darkest secrets being exposed in order for their feelings to come to light.

─ (🎡) arc review ⊹

nathan shaw has been harboring a secret since his high school days, one so deeply connected to another person that revealing it would mean unveiling truths about both of them. for years, he has clung to these hidden realities, which has forced him to distance himself from the one person who means everything to him. this separation only leads her to believe that he harbors disdain for her, just like everyone else in her life. yet, nothing could be further from the truth of his feelings, which he guards fiercely.

haven larson endured a traumatic childhood, marked by an abusive father and a mother who, despite her best efforts, couldn't shield her from the lurking shadows of her past. one fateful night, it was nathan—the boy she had loved for as long as she could remember—who stepped in to protect her from those very monsters. now, she grapples with the belief that he can't bear to be near her after learning her secrets. but every time they find themselves together, the chemistry between them ignites, threatening to explode.

ultimately, it will take the revelation of their deepest secrets for their true feelings to finally emerge.

nate and haven were fine characters, but i found them lacking depth, making it hard for me to truly connect with them. nevertheless, the book had its enjoyable moments. some sections felt quite predictable, but overall, i would still suggest it to anyone who enjoys light and fluffy reads.

Before we begin, be sure to check your content warnings for this book.
The writing style was way too formal for my liking (intercourse, made love, mother/father/grandmother). Twenty-two year olds don’t talk like that and it was distracting. For some reason I couldn’t get past it.
There was a lot of focus on the details, and not enough development between characters. We got specific descriptions of Nate’s house, the menu for the fundraiser, clothing, etc when there could have been more interaction and meaningful dialogue between the main characters. I wanted more depth. Even the sex scenes were a little cheesy.
I would not read this again.

"When you’re with me, I feel like I can… breathe. I don’t know if that makes sense.” - Nate Shaw

Haven and Nate are extremely likable characters right from the beginning, despite how Nate treated Haven in the past. Clearly, he had his reasons for his behavior towards her and thought he was doing the right thing for her. Luckily though, he figures things out and heads down the right path in realising that Haven is the one and that he needs to pursue something with her otherwise he could miss out on the best thing - a future with the love of his life.

No cliffhanger
Standalone, though part of a larger series
Told from both POVs
Kind of enemies to lovers/finally admitting feelings.

LOVED this book! Letting emotions settle and be back with an actual review.

I’m sad this series is over but I loved Nathan’s story! Haven and Nate have known each other for years but a traumatic event had him keeping his distance. But they are adults now and life keeps pushing them together. Nate seems to be in the right place at the right time and sends help Haven’s way. When they have the opportunity to move on from the past, life is sweet. I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve and seeing the way they supported one another! I couldn’t put this book down. Kelly has done it again; fantastic read!

Oh my goodness. Kelly gave us one last amazing couple to cheer on in this last book of the series. Nate and Haven stole my heart.

I have cried many tears, laughed out loud, and swooned over these HEAs. I'm always sad a series I've loved is over, but I know I'll be revisiting this magical place again!

Devoted Enough is the ninth and final book in Kelly Elliott's 'Love in Montana' series. This is a second generation book series that branched off of the original, first generation series called 'Meet me in Montana'. These are the stories that have told us the tales and journeys of love, loss, romance and heartbreak of the children from the first generation's main characters, who ultimately were designed to get their own happily ever after in their charming small town in Montana.

This is a standalone read but is part of an interconnected series. This means that it can be read on its own if you wish to start here, but you will know at this point whom is whom and the people that they have become partners with. However, you won't know how they all came to be. This is where the reading order comes in if you wish to start from the beginning of the first generation and read through until here at the end of the second.

The official reading order goes:

Never Enough (Meet me in Montana #1)
Always Enough (Meet me in Montana #2)
Good Enough (Meet me in Montana #3)
Strong Enough (Meet me in Montana #4)
Fearless Enough (Love in Montana #1)
Cherished Enough (Love in Montana #2)
Brave Enough (Love in Montana #3)
Daring Enough (Love in Montana #4)
Loved Enough (Love in Montana #5)
Forever Enough (Love in Montana #6)
Enchanted Enough (Love in Montana #7)
Perfect Enough (Love in Montana #8)
Devoted Enough (Love in Montana #9)

Our journey with the lives of the Shaws & Littlewoods began a day after my birthday, December 10th, back in 2019. 1,859 days have passed since then (at the time of this review), and thirteen couples have found their happily ever afters written after the way for them was pathed by stories of new beginnings, overcoming adversity, adapting to change, taking the plunge and so much more. As series' wrap up at a speedy rate in present times, I am glad for every second that we were lucky to have spent across both series' over the last five years. It was a joy to go the long route and end up here with Devoted Enough.

Let's seat ourselves into the saddle one final time, for the ride into a beautiful, bookish sunset.

Nathan Shaw has been keeping a personal secret since the days that he was in High School, very close to his chest. The secret he had chosen to keep all to himself was not as straightforward as it seems, for it is tied to another. Someone else's own secret. If he ever exposed the sheer darkness of the facts in said secret of his, he couldn't keep the other secret all to himself.

The years have passed him by and he has held steadfast his own promise to not tell another living soul about the truths he learned long ago. In turn, this decision of his has meant that he was forced to push away the only other living person on the planet that has meant the most to him in his entire lifetime. The result of his putting her at a distance? Her utter loathing and detest of him, and her assumption of his despising her just how everyone else in her life had.

This is as far as from the truth that anything could get about the real, raw and undeniable feelings for this woman that he continues to hold within the confines of his heart.

Haven Larson is the prime example of a person who grew up with the most awful of childhoods. She grew up with a vile excuse of a father who abused her at any opportunity he could, with a mother who was only able to try her best. Sometimes as Haven unfortunately found out on more than one occasion, 'the best' was not always enough to protect her from the monsters that both lurked within the darkness and followed her into the light of day.

After being the one to save herself for so long, there came a day where it was someone else to come to the rescue to be the one to save her. As fate would have it, the person who would be doing the saving would be the singular boy whom she had loved from afar for just as long as he has loved her. Nathan.

As a result of his heroic act, she is now fully aware that he cannot stand to be around her once he had discovered the horrific nature of her secrets. Or can he? For every moment they spend tougher, are within one another's presence or stands within a chance of being seen from the corner of each others' eyes, the sizzling sparks that they've tried their hardest to stamp out burn hotter and more intense. They might combust, should nothing be done to temper the flames a little.

Their arms, not this time being used to push one another away, are twisted up both of their backs when the time finally arrives to have their darkest secrets exposed for one and all to see and pass judgment on. Maybe this is what it will take to turn tight lips into loose ones, and for the truth of their feelings made known to one another as it is already to everyone around them.

Time has passed at the perfect pace for stories across the generations within one big family to be told. The real place of Hamilton with the fictional Shaw (and Littlewood) family, is one us readers of Kelly have become very attached to and have grown the deepest, most fondest of loves for. What started as one girl moving to a new city for a fresh start, grew into a family that would be the very essence of the town. They became its beating heart. All thanks to two people who met and fell in love. That one act of two people coming together as one and falling I love, set off a chain of events where anything could--and did--happen. Many paths were ridden on with different riders in the saddle on each new track taken, but ultimately came back around again to converge on the same main path where nothing else mattered but the familial members who rode side by side, together.

What stood out to me the most within this final book, was the care and respect that went into creating Nathan and Haven's love story. It wasn't all hearts dancing in their eyes and things going smoothly without a single speed bump to knock them off course. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Kelly delivered two very realistic characters with a realistic storyline. She gave them obstacles, the right kind of miscommunication that allows for lessons to be taught without harrowing consequences (or irritation from the reader), all with careful handling and respect for the messages, meanings, story and its sub-plots. The cherry on top of the cake was the sweet romance of the two main characters. Yes, they 'desired' one another, if you catch my drift, but we were treated to a loving romance that I feel, echoed the original shaws, Stella and Ty Sr. That feeling of it coming back full-circle to the Shaws who started it all, originally (not-seen), was literally perfection.

As series finales go, this is an exemplary example of how to do it right not just for one readers' tastes, but for many who will have both similar and different preferences. This ending, I personally feel, is capable and does in fact tick the boxes of both readers who share the same reading preferences, as well as those who don't. It's a satisfying ending that any reader of Kelly's can be equally as proud to read as they are of the woman who created that perfect ending that tied everything up just-so. It did not give off the feeling that we were actually saying a final, fond farewell to all of the characters we have fallen in love with over the last five years. Instead, it felt like a gentle kiss on the cheek with the words 'see you later' being whispered gently into our ears with the promise that if we desire to, we can return to this world we have been welcomed into and feel a part of, anytime we like. Or even, if (or when) we chose to go another route, go right back to where it all began to re-live every single moment, every kiss, fight, break-up, make-up and everything in-between. I liked this feeling not only because of the feelings that we were welcome to come back to these character not only for comfort when we need it, but to save us from another hard goodbye. Yes, fictional goodbyes are hard--sometimes harder--as real ones.

Speaking for only myself for a moment, I know that this is not the last time that I will see the shaws and the array of scene-stealing and supporting side-characters. I feel very much part of this big, fictional family and from time to time, we return to those most dear to us. Even if they are within the pages of a book.

Kelly, thank you from the bottom of my heart--and that of other readers, too--for giving all of your time and effort into creating your version of Hamilton, Montana, inhabited by some of the best characters to ever be born into this fictional world. You did not love us and leave us with just the one series, but instead kept on loving us and allowed us to love you in return more and more with each book that joined these unforgettable, incredible, brilliant series that I hope not only current readers will pick up and cherish, but those who discover them and of course, you. You've shown that it is possible to have a long series in this second generation, that does not fall flat or fade in creativeness with storylines or plot as the end grows closer and closer. Your years of writing have strengthened you, your characters and stories so much so, that you continue to blossom and bloom and make us proud to see your growth while retaining what made each of us fall head-over-pages for you in the first place.

Where you lead, we will happily follow. Let's head onto the next adventure, together.

Nathan knows something about Haven that he promised her he would never speak of to anyone. But this eventually also turns into the reason why he keeps his distance from her so he doesn't cause her any more pain. For years they skirted around each other, wanting each other but never giving in. Until one day Nathan helps Haven out during a storm, which inevitably causes them to spend time in close quarters, and all the feelings they'd tried to hide come rushing back. Nathan is done trying to keep his distance, and now he just needs to convince Haven to give him a shot and take a chance on him.

Both Nathan and Haven tried to avoid their feelings, and there was more to the story that made Haven believe that Nate couldn't stand her because of what he witnessed; however, that wasn't the case from Nate's perspective. The two slowly get talking and address these feelings and start opening up.

First, the things I liked:
The Shaw family lunch and game day. I honestly had so much fun with the way the entire family got together and competed. I especially enjoyed the way they all accepted Haven into the fold and how easily she got into the competitive spirit of the Shaw family.

I loved the way Lily teased Nathan. That whole part was so hilarious, and I laughed so hard at how she told on Nathan and left him scrambling and the death glares that followed.

The proposal. I found that proposal so damn adorable, and it warmed my heart. The epilogue that followed was also something I thought was so sweet.

I would still want to read the other books in the series because I am intrigued by other characters.

This book didn't hit the mark for me, and that was because (SOME SPOILERS AHEAD):

Once they addressed the miscommunication and the other feelings they had over their secret from the past, things went from 0-100 instantly. The romance felt lackluster, and I wasn't truly invested because I didn't quite feel the angst, build-up, or the push and pull between these two. I wish Nash's reluctance was explored more and better communicated.

It is said that after they had a sort of fallout, they resorted to being snarky with each other whenever they crossed paths, but I didn't really see that happening in the book. Yes, they were awkward and a bit defensive with each other at the beginning, but I just couldn't connect with them or get an understanding of what their relationship was like. A lot was told and not shown. This is also book 9 in the series, and I started with this, so that's partially on me too. It felt like the couple had already been established and their story was already ongoing, so it felt like starting midway.

The POV kept changing in certain chapters at random intervals or in random paragraphs, which felt confusing. Like just one line or paragraph from a different POV in between.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the whole "Yeah, I slept around, but I was always thinking of you while I was sticking my dick in others." Yikes, no. Also, what made Nate randomly stop pushing her away now when he'd been doing so for years? It couldn't have been just because she spent a night at his place during the storm. What Haven went through was utterly traumatizing, but we never truly get into this or get her thoughts on it. They just mention that she's seeing a therapist. I'm sure that experience would've impacted her ability to get intimate, but she showed no signs of that, and it wasn't even discussed.

She was a virgin, and after all that shit between them, their first time was so rushed and lacked any emotional connection for me.

Some things felt a bit too repetitive for me. Also, why is everyone just so eager to do charity work? The minute things got serious between Nate and Haven, it's like the entire town was tripping over themselves to give back to the community (i.e., Haven's dog park). It just felt so unbelievable when so many people kept wanting to donate their time and do everything for free, or some member of that Shaw family was funding it.

There were so many jumps every couple of chapters where more weeks passed by, and they gave an update of what their relationship was like, and it just all felt like there wasn't much to show. They got together far too quickly, confessed their feelings the same day, and then it was just not going anywhere... I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop or for there to be SOMETHING more to it.

Her so-called ex kept showing up everywhere, not taking a hint... until he didn't. He just stopped existing as soon as Nate made his move. There was no drama from his side for the way he kept coming back for Haven even after she'd said no. I really thought that plot might be explored a bit, but it just felt random and incomplete. Like he was there only to add a bit of drama before they got together, which didn't make sense with the way he disappeared, never to be even mentioned again.

The situation with Haven's dad was so anticlimactic. When that happened, I was like, okay, now we're getting somewhere. This will be the closure she needed or the step she takes to fight back or whatever. But the way that entire situation fizzled out within 2 pages was just not it. I kept waiting for something... anything to happen, and it finally did, only for it to be dealt with sooooo sooo quickly.

Thank you to Kelly Elliott and Grey's Promotions for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved Devoted Enough by Kelly Elliott, the ninth book, and final book in her Love in Montana series! Kelly Elliott has done it again! The Love in Montana series is a spinoff series of Meet Me in Montana series, which I LOVED. It was a bittersweet book for me since I once again have to say goodbye to the Shaw family. I have come to love the Shaws, and Devoted Enough is an incredible farewell to the Shaw family. Devoted Enough is an incredible perceived enemies to friends to lovers love story, which filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions, that you will need to have a box of Kleenex nearby, causes Nate to question everything and it was impossible to put it down. I loved every moment on every page of this page turner. It is my favorite book in the series and my FAVORITE book that I have read recently. Kelly Elliott continues to deliver incredibly written love stories that I LOVE to read, and she continues to be a must-read author for me. I love this incredible love at enemies to lovers love story, the Hamilton, Montana setting, and the amazing characters, they feel like family! Devoted Enough is a love story between Haven Larson, a dog walker and co-owner of a new dog park being built and Nathan “Nate” Shaw, rancher. Haven and Nate had been friends in high school until two events changed the course of their friendship. Nate saves Haven on the side of the road with a flat tire during a storms and things start to change between them. As Haven and Nate spend time together, they end up talking and the truth is revealed. Conversation between Nate and Haven flows so easily, I love the chemistry between them and the easy banter and flirting, and everything that they do together. As Haven and Nate spend more time together things change between them. I love all the little things that Nate tries to anonymously do for Haven. A plot twist threatens their relationship and Nate once again saves the day. I love the heart-to-heart conversation that take place in Devoted Enough. Kelly Elliott definitely does not disappoint her readers with all the feels in Devoted Enough and has once again delivered an amazing story filled with everything that I have come to love about and expect from her books. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, big loving families, and caring friends, who always support each other? I love how Kelly develops her characters in such a way that you fall in love with them and care about them much like a good friend and how she always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy cowboy. Kelly Elliott continues to deliver all that and so much more. Another favorite part of her book is how she incorporates the picture on the cover of the book into the love story. Another favorite part are the songs that included in the book, they fit the story perfectly. I am not sure how she continues writing my favorite books to read. I love that Kelly chooses dialogue that stays true to her characters. Devoted Enough is filled with all the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and plot twists that I have come to love and expect in a Kelly Elliott love story. I love all the plot twists included in Devoted Enough. Kelly Elliott continues to prove that she is an incredible storyteller. I love that she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. I love the ending of Haven and Nate’s love story, especially Nate’s proposal and the significance of the engagement ring he gives to Haven. My favorite part of Devoted Enough is the epilogue that takes place eleven years later and catching up with everything that happened. It perfectly wraps up the series and is a wonderful tribute to the Shaw family. Love the surprises that are revealed. Devoted Enough was an amazing enemies to lovers love story; I am so glad that Haven and Nate got their happily ever after. I love all the characters in this series, but I especially loved catching up with all the characters from the Meet Me in Montana series, it feels like a family reunion. I enjoy all the interactions among all the Shaw siblings and cousins and the Littlewoods, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I love meeting all the new babies! I love the descriptions of Hamilton, Montana. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I loved every moment. Devoted Enough was a fitting tribute to the Shaw family. Highly recommend this beautifully written love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

****ARC****

Thanks to Kelly Elliott and her team for selecting me to ARC read this book. Team Wranglers🥰. THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤

I'm not gonna lie, I do feel late to the show because this book was incredible and just seeing how Nate Shaw was m, individually and with his family, made me see why so many people loved the Shaw family. That being said, I'm so happy to have been apart of the finale and did get to see the dynamic amongst the entire family and how they were as individuals.

Nate and Haven were ALWAYS soulmates and no matter what they would always end up together. No matter what kept them apart and especially no matter how much they "hated" each other. This wasn't the normal enemies to lovers story because they liked each other very much, had crushes on each other. Sadly, a tragic event happened to Haven and he did save her but instead of pulling them to each other, it pushed them apart. In my opinion, it was a slight miscommunication because when they started getting closer that day at the barn, he didnt get an opportunity to explain why she pushed her away. BUT they were always infatuated with each other and always lit up when they're names were mentioned around them.

Haven is a very strong FMC because she is the kind of woman who wanted to get things done on her own. But you know that micro trope I think you wonluld call it, the "I can do it by myself girl, and the "I know but I'm still gonna help you boy". That was them, they were also will they won't they, they had me screaming to them to be with each other already because the chemistry was always there. I'm just thankful for that storm and those horrible tires of hers that started it all. She had went through so much in her life and I loved her independence but I loved also the fact that she had Nate in her corner to help her and show her the love and kindness she deserved.

I just love the Shaw family though. And I'm a huge fan of found family and Haven found family in them because man did they support her. Nate's parents had always been supportive of her and then when she wanted to start her business, she was partners with someone who would become apart of that family as well which basically made it a family affair, they just supported her in more ways than one and I loved every second of it. And I love how good sneaky; NEVER EVER bad, they were when showing their help. I was here for every second of it.

Overall I give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Of course I didn't like the fact Nate wouldn't just tell her why he didn't want to get closer to her but he made up for every second of it. The way he helped Haven. The way he showed her what it means to show up and keeping promises, I loved every second. I loved how she finally just accepted the help, her and her mom, because trust me I thought there would be fight backs in certain situations but I'm happy they ended on a positive note. This entire book was beautiful and when that scum came back I just knew, I knew there was something big coming and that it would be him but of course and always our Nate Shaw to the rescue. So many things were going through my mind but I'm just so happy that it ended once again, positive because I would've lost my mind if it had taken another route. I loved this book and I wish I had read all the other books before but they're on my TBR and will for sure be reading them. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

PLEASE RUN AND READ THIS BOOK. READ THE ENTIRE SERIES. From this book alone, I can tell that the Shaw family will NEVER disappoint. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

So sad this series is over! The final installment in this series surrounds Nathan, and while we’ve gotten to know him in previous books, I was surprised at his character and journey to love and a HEA, and Kelly did not disappoint! As teens, Nathan was a typical guy who pushed the girl he liked away, but all that changes when things go a little further with Haven and then he ends up finding her in a troublesome situation, saves her, and then is promised to never speak of it. Because he couldn’t handle the secret and his feelings surrounding it, he treats her horribly for years, until he can’t fight things any longer and his jealousy involving other men and Haven prevail. As they start to spend time together and are unable to fight their feelings, they also talk through what happened all those years ago, and it really helps both of them because they both still really struggle with what happened. Of course, the past never truly stays away or dies, and they end up also having to confront things on a larger scale when it comes back to harm Haven. This was a great ending to this series, and I can’t wait for what Kelly comes out with next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

From the gut-wrenching prologue, this story is deeply emotional, full of tough moments and heartwarming ones all the same — all grounded in a kind passion and raw emotion that makes this book so compelling from beginning to end.

Devoted Enough is the ninth and final book in Kelly’s Love in Montana series — and while I agree with her that the best experience is likely read in order, I have only read books 8 and now this one — and I still felt like it was strong as a standalone. Yes, there’s tons of characters that more context would help decipher better but honestly, I kept up just fine.

FMC Haven had my heart from moment one. What an amazing character this is. Overcoming serious trauma to make a life for herself that’s full of love and light. And MMC Nate is the sweetheart with a heart of gold we hoped he would be. These two have pined for each other for years — and when they open themselves up to the possibility of love (FINALLY!), it’s a delight to read.

The story isn’t without conflict, as past demons come into play, but I’m happy to tell you the MCs don’t suffer a third act breakup because of it. Thank you, Kelly!

At its core, this book and series is sweet, low-angst and very consumable. I can’t thank Kelly and Grey’s Promotions enough for the advanced read.

I absolutely loved this book!! I got the writing was absolutely beautiful I loved going through the story learning all about Haven and Nathan and watching their story develop!! I also really enjoyed watching not just their connection grow but the love for each other grow especially Nathan's love for Haven I found it to be absolutely beautiful I also really enjoyed the writing style of Kelly Elliott I have never read a book by her before but I thought she did a great job explaining different things in the story she did not overly explain anything or overly detail anything but at the same time she gave enough details to where you could really paint a picture in your mind of the story that the book was giving so you could really see the story play out in your mind like a movie I definitely recommend this book for just a fun light-hearted loving romance

I loved this book, this whole series honestly. It was the perfect conclusion especially with the epilogue. I wouldn't technically call this a true enemies to lovers, more like dislike to lovers. The part where they go to get her stuff had my jaw dropped! Honestly, I felt like Haven did, I kept wondering when something was going to go wrong. That game night scene had me laughing so hard, it was hilarious! 100% recommend this book and the whole series. Themes/tropes in this book include "enemies" to lovers, small town romance, strong heroine, first love, no 3rd act breakup, it's always been you and traumatic past.

I was not ready to have my heartbreak for Nathan and Haven. Kelly wrote another beautiful story and gave us the best ending to this series. I am so sad it is over. I love these couples!

Nathan and Haven have known each other for so long. Nathan is loyal and will always be there for the ones he loves. I swooned over this man, and I am so happy that he got the ending he did.
Haven has the strength that most don't. She didn't let her past define her. She just tried to be better. She has such a love and passion for horses, which shows in the book.

This story is one of my favorites from the series. It has heartbreak, love, compassion, loyalty, friendship, and so much more.
Be prepared to fall in love with these characters.

What a spectacular ending to such a great series. It is definitely bittersweet to be leaving the Shaw’s. I have loved every single book. The Shaw family is one of my favorite book families. So entertaining and charismatic! I adored Nate and Haven. I loved watching them finally succumb to the inevitable and seeing how life went for them. The ending was absolutely perfect!

Haven has had a tough life, and at just 20 something things just keep piling on. After another blown tire during a storm Nathan, the guy she’s been in love with since she was a kid, comes to her rescue again.

Nathan genuinely didn’t give me the vibe that he’s always been in love with Haven. After stopping her father from attacking her Nathan vows to stay away from haven in order to protect her from the harm he could cause her, even before this instance he seemed bothered by the prospect of running into Haven.

It is a fast paced book and goes through a few different time spurts, after they profess their feelings it’s 0-100.

I sped read once I hit 50% because it seemed predictable and I couldn’t connect to the characters. This book is a part of an interconnected series and maybe if I would’ve read the other books it would have built upon these characters to make them more lovable.

Thank you to valentine pr for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

5 Star Review Devoted Enough (Love in Montana #9) by Kelly Elliott

Devoted Enough was a good addition and the final book in the Love in Montana series and is Haven Larson and Nathan Shaw’s story.

Haven has had a hard life and there were moments my heart broke for everything she has survived. Their story was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

As secrets come to light, will it bring them together or rip them apart?

Haven and Nathan's story was perfectly written, and I loved their connection and how their relationship developed. This book had a plot that was amazing and a joy to read. The characters were perfectly written, and I loved how they had a history that helped the reader understand the complexity of their relationship and how they interacted with each other. They both had childhoods that left a mark on them and how they trusted each other when they met again. The found family vibes were amazing.

It was a delight to read this book and read the journey that Haven and Nate went on.

Thank you for the ARC.

Beautiful Ending For a Beloved Series

I love this family and now I’m sad to see this is the end. Maybe Ms. Elliott can write another generation’s love story. The Shaw family and youngest member Nate have a beautiful HEA. Best part of this book was Game Night. Funniest scene ever!

I have been reading Kelly Elliott's books since she started with her first book, Wanted. I think her stories are getting even better. I get an escape into a place that is beautiful. There is always some angst, but most of her stories are about people I wish I knew. While reading Devoted Enough, I wished I were friends with the Shaw family. This is a sweet romance with mostly nice people. I guess what I am saying is that her books are a lovely escape!

I love a damsel in distress and Prince Charming comes to the rescue book! I immediately felt for Haven and the crappy hands she has been dealt. Then here comes Nate and he makes everything better even when Haven doesn’t want it! It is such a feel good story that makes you believe in good people! I loved how the epilogue did such a good job of closing out the Shaw family Era! Such a fun family and Kelly made you feel like you were a part of their family. From competitive game nights, to family tragedy you were a part of their lives! They span over two different series and it was nice to have such a happy ending for them all!

The story just felt flat. The continuity and grammar issues took a lot to look past. So much of it felt copied and pasted from her other stories.

Kelly Elliott has officially left my heart in Montana with the final story in the Love In Montana series. Devoted Enough (Book 9) sealed my devotion to her swoon-worthy, heartfelt storytelling. This book is a deeply emotional, heart-pounding journey that blends passion and raw emotion into an unforgettable read.

Haven and Nathan’s story begins with a gut-wrenching prologue that sets the tone for a tearjerker. From the moment Nathan keeps a dark secret in high school, it seals their fate—two souls hiding a love they are too scared to admit. Now, years later, fate might finally give them a second chance.

Nathan must navigate the barriers he helped Haven build around her heart while finding the courage to go after the only girl he’s ever loved. Their journey is anything but easy, but Ms Elliott masterfully weaves in tender moments, unyielding passion, and heartfelt vulnerability.

Get ready for a swoon-worthy romance that will sweep you off your feet and have you believing in the power of second chances. A must-read conclusion to an unforgettable series!

You guys, it is the end of the Shaw Family book era- and I am devastated. This book was such a great end to the series. Nate and Haven definitely ended the series leaving you satisfied with the ending and so sad that it really is over.
Nate and Haven shared a secret from her past for so many years with the hopes it would never rear its ugly head again. However, not only did the secret haunt them both all these years-it caused a rift between them for so long that it didn’t seem possible to fix it and move past it. Once the explanation of a major communication from that moment in their history was out (coaxed by some major jealously), it changes their lives forever. Haven fits right in with the Shaws like a missing puzzle piece and Nate wastes no time it making sure she knows she has a place among all their hearts and their family forever. His devotion to her is what every girl dreams of.

5 stars! 5 stars! 5 stars!

Kelly Elliot you mastermind 😍🥹 You did it again and I love you 😍 Nate and Haven!!! One of the most favorite couples. I though Josh and Sophia had me hooked, but Nate and Haven 🤭❤️

Nathan Shaw 😏🥹🫶 This man had me from the first look 🤭 He's always been obsessed with Haven but kept his distance. He never wanted to see her hurt ever again. He took anything she threw his way, including their enemy status and banter 🥹 This was years of foreplay for them at this point 😏 The way he protected, cherished and celebrated her. He took care of her from the shadows and watched her from afar 😩 His love only grew deeper over the years.

Haven 🥹🥹🫶 I loved her character so much! Her strength, resilience, bravery and love, especially when it came to Nate! This woman protected her man with every ounce of strength in her soul. She's always been in love with Nate but never thought she'd have a chance, and when she finally did get to have her happily ever after, even I cried! She's absolutely stunning, kind and intelligent and started a dog park all on her own! The best one ever!

The chemistry between these two was phenomenal and out of this world! The smut, the mutual pining and obsession with each other drove me insane 😩😏 I need my Nate Shaw in life 😭😭❤️ 5 stars as always Kelly! Thank you so much for the ARC, I cannot express this enough!

I already struggled with the decision to read this one because large family dramas where I have to keep up with 70billion names is frustrating. Then, the series itself was a rollercoaster and felt more and more rushed every book.
And, this book was all over the place with who was doing what out of order and I got pulled out of the story so many times to figure out what I was supposed to be reading.
To make matters worse, the number of pointless conversations in the middle of conversations drove me bonkers.

And Nate going from "this was a mistake" to "I'll buy you new tires, give you a buttload of money, make you 💥, and you can live with me" in practically a single heartbeat???
Dude, it's called love-bombing. Stop it.

BUT, none of that compared to him stealing her thunder by giving her a puppy and proposing at THE EVENT she'd been dreaming of for a really long time.

I'm giving it 2 stars because I'm happy for Haven's mom and the sack race was pretty funny.

4.5stars-DEVOTED ENOUGH is the ninth and final instalment in Kelly Elliott’s contemporary adult, LOVE IN MONTANA erotic, romance series, a spin off from the author’s Meet Me in Montana series. This is rancher Nathan Shaw, and dog walker Haven Larson’s story line. DEVOTED ENOUGH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nathan and Haven) focuses on the second chance (of a sorts) between rancher Nathan Shaw, and Haven Larson. Nathan and Haven were childhood best friends but Haven’s home life was dark, and in the ensuing years, Nathan pushed Haven out of his life. Fast forward to present day wherein a rain storm and a flat tire pull Haven back into Nathan’s life, a life he believes is much better with the return of our story line heroine. Struggling to keep her dog walking business afloat, a series of anonymous donors, and the success of the park, brings focus onto our story line heroine, and the return of the past brings with it memories from the dark.

The world building focuses on the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Nathan and Haven. Years earlier, an attack against our heroine forced Nathan as Haven’s guardian and protector but in the ensuing aftermath, appeared to push Nathan out of her life. Reconnecting with Nathan found Haven struggling with the memories from the past, memories that continue to control her present.

The relationship between Nathan and Haven is one of a rekindling friendship and relationship but one in which Haven battles between head and heart having already been the victim of Nathan’s rejections in the past. Nathan is determined to repair everything that went wrong beginning with an explanation as to what happened and why. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and interesting secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Haven’s mother Grace, and her father David.

DEVOTED ENOUGH is a story of dysfunctional family dynamics, secrets and lies, abuse and power, acceptance and love. The premise is heart breaking and engaging; the romance is emotional and fated; the characters are determined and dynamic.
