Holding the powers of the elements, the 4 fae Bellis sisters have spent their lives keeping the Amaranthine Portal safe and monitoring the travel of magical beings between realms. When mysterious requests for transfers become more frequent, Cass finds herself chasing half truths revolving around an old elemental prophecy that can't be true. You'll quickly feel like a regular at the Tipsy Fairy as Finn O'Malley transports you into this wonderful story filled with love, humor, and magic. Only time will tell if the prophecy is more than a story in an ancient book, but you can be sure the path to find out will fulfill every item on your list of "must have" in a book.

Fae on the Rocks is the first in the Tipsy Fae Chronicles from author Finn O’Malley. While I was not caught off guard by the romance in this book, that romance is the reason I am giving the book four stars. I am not a romance reader and find the predictability of the genre not my cup of tea. However, I was intrigued by the base story, the fae sisters guarding a portal between worlds, so carry on I did.
In some ways, I think the timeline of this book could have been shorter, fleshing out some of the scenes and characters more to keep a respectable sized book—or, rather, two respectable books. Fae on the Rocks covers (I believe) four months of time, whereas, two books could have covered less time but offered more information, and I am left to wonder how future books will pan out. Will all of the books in this series cover so much time, or will things speed up as we dive deeper into the mysteries set up in this first book?
But those things are nit-picky. While I have said there are aspects of the story that could have been given more screen time had it all been divided into two books, there was nowhere in this story where I felt cheated or left to wonder what happened to an abandoned thread. O’Malley has crafted an epic tome and given herself quite a task in the follow through. What is coming down the pike for the Bellis sisters? What are we to expect from the next book(s)? How will it all come to a head?
I think, for a first in series, O’Malley has covered a lot of ground, opening doors for far more, and I can’t wait to see where she goes with it (my personal feelings on romance notwithstanding).

This is such a fun book. It has everything. Queer representation, adventure, dragons, magic, and snark.... What more could you possibly want? I literally sent the author a message asking for more from this world... I love it so much.
